Ok so long story short I posed in the HTC One Themes and Apps subforum requesting a louder speaker and in call volume everyone seemed to say they have no problems and the phone gets really loud. Any past S3 users who wish the speaker phone and in call volume was louder?

To me it is quite a bit quieter and is pretty noticeable. I thought I would post here since maybe this is a sprint build problem (as I have discovered I have the death grip problem that mainly sprint users have)

I used to have the s3. Only thing I feel was better was signal. I jump between 3g and 4g a lot more vs the s3 where I had a constant 4g signal. Speakers are great everything is fine with my One other than the signal issue it's not the death grip either regardless to wether I'm holding the phone or it still jumps.

Maybe my S3 was really loud because of a sound mod which was included in many roms. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

Yeah, I also had an s3 and the sound mod, even at 50% would make the speaker extremely loud.
Sent from My Only "One"
S3 didn't get nearly as loud as the One can. Turn off beats if you want it louder.
Signal issues are software and are present in every HTC phone on release unfortunately. The problem is simply that it gives up on an LTE signal too quickly, not that it can't receive it.
Compare dBm with your s3 side by side.

Same here with the signal issue! This has been a problem for me since the Evo Lte, I traded my S4 for the One becasue of the superior quality build but seriously Im starting to think that LTE is more important to me than the build quality and Im very positive this wont be fixed with an update because the evo Lte still has the poblem. Terrible handoff between 3g & 4g :crying:.

NO.I had to install a rom on the GS3 with extrreme volume for a decent loud volume. With the HTC one I am very happy as is.

The HTC One does have LTE issues but it is still fairly good. Its much much better than the Evo LTE. The S3 was probably the best phone I had, next to note 2

this is the hong kong and taiwanese flagship we will get it
Definitely Taiwan will get it first! Look at One X+, Taiwanese version got 4.2 before all the others.
I really hope they fix the audio crackling at high volumes, perhaps my unit has a defective headphone amplifier, but another user, tsokh, also noticed the same thing =/ Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 600 had a similar problem, but I contacted HTC the rep told me that nobody else has complained to them about this issue (but then again I contacted HTC North America not Taiwan, a bit of a language barrier and they give you similar replies everytime there).
Also Beats Audio is kinda buggy if you listen to speakers with Beats on, and plug in your headphones the volume increasing effect of Beats is actually reversed and it actually decreases your volume, then turning Beats off actually increases the volume (leading to the audio crackling too). Even worse, after I do this, I start getting an occasional audio ZAP like not crackling but a loud squeak at the same location of a song.

It's noticeable only on some type of music and only with high level of volume - you can't hear anything with moderate volume level.
Beats bug with increasing/decreasing volume is true :fingers-crossed:

It's only occurs with songs that have a slow deep bass, example would be the slow part of Touch by Daft Punk, some R. Kelly songs. With most songs audio quality is great but I notice a little bit of high-pitched EMI on the left channel at the beginning of each track.
The audio crackling is very apparent with in-ear headphones and earbuds, if you have the volume above 11/15. I find 12/15 to be the ideal listening volume so I do notice it a little bit, but using PowerAMP it SOMETIMES doesn't happen. (but with PowerAMP I get occasional audio popping as opposed to the crackling distortion)
With higher impedance on-ear headphones you only get it at the maximum volume setting (Beats off).
The HTC rep advised me to have it checked with RMA (I might just go to a service center in Taiwan to ask about it the next time I go, it takes about 2 weeks for a factory repair though)
Does anybody use Bluetooth for listening to music? If it doesn't happen on Bluetooth it might be the headphone amplifier.

It's not only the butterfly S that is affected by the crackling sound on high volumes. I can confirm that it's also happening in One S and X..

are you getting the same problem? I thought it made sense because the Butterfly s uses the same chipset as the i9505 GS4 which also had its own share of audio problems. It might only affect a few units as daorderdillon says he doesn't have the same problem with the song in question. It may also be that only 901e are affected as he has 901s.
Strangely I never got this problem on my One X+ but I did get constant skipping which bothered me but mostly only happens if the screen is on and I'm doing something with the phone. Original HOX had a bad DAC and a lot of users disliked the audio quality (never tried myself), HOX+ much cleaner but kinda lacking in bass and treble.
The new update does seem to make the touch screen more responsive. I was having problems with the shift key and the back button, also playing Lep's World 2 where the jump button didn't always respond (perhaps it's because they updated it recently). Finally, there used to be a continuous hiss in the background even after you stop music playback. With IEMs the hiss is still quite noticeable at the beginning and end of songs (including a high-pitched EMI on my left speaker), but it stops soon after you pause the music.

sorry haven't rooted (yet anyways), still a noob here =/... Due to that headphone issue which I think may be due to the amp I don't want to risk my warranty yet, I'll be going back to Taiwan in a few months and maybe get a repair...

There isn't much difference actually the camera seems the same. Keyboard and buttons seem to be more responsive as I had some problems before under the screen protector.
Also, charging animation means your screen will always be on, I only realized this yesterday and I really hate it - what if your screen burns in? (good thing it's not AMOLED, but still there might be some retention as I get that on my iPad 2) Right now the only solution is to charge under standby mode.

So my HTC One speakers are unusually quiet. I've been researching it but I can't find a clear answer. Basically my girlfriend can blast the entire house with her S3 speakers and I can barely cover the bathroom with mine lol. Turning Beats off doesn't make much of a difference either. My friend with the phone says his is too loud and other forum posts say the same. Before I backup everything and take it back..is this a confirmed issue? Thanks guys

No crackling here with my studio quality sennheisers. Using Liquid rom with kernel tweaks for increased mic and headset gains as well. I've tried fiddling with the volume (up down up down up down) while having it maxed out and it sounds perfectly clear. Have also tried skipping forward in the song/skipping songs with volume maxed and couldn't replicate whatever issues you're having...don't know if that's good news or bad to you but there it is^^
I've heard distortion (using my M8) in songs that have been mastered really loud. I don't hear it on my MacBook pro as much. I wonder if the m8 gain structure could be setup better for clearer audience.
One album that I notice it a lot on is Beck's new album, mainly songs in the middle or the record. Ripped mp3 via iTunes at 256

M8 crackling solution
So I rooted my M8 to the GPE and the crackling is gone. Also, now my M8 works 100% better. There are so many things that function and look so much better. Basically I am replying to rant about how awful companies and carriers make android function when they modify the OS. Google may get paid by allowing hardware and carriers to modify their OS, but they are going to lose customers in the end due to this terrible customer experience. Customers who don't buy a nexus or google play edition or can't root their device are out of luck and get an inferior device with a poor usability.
Got my unicorn today. It is huge and awkward to hold. The screen is okay after selling my Galaxy S4 and using LG G pad 8.3 as a daily driver until I got N6. (I know weird). However, I noticed that the speakers are not really loud. I thought since it has tow speakers and placed on front, it should be loud. Also, when I call someone and put him on speaker mode, only the top speaker works. The bottom one doesn't. Can someone confirm that please?
Is there anything I can do or tweak to make it louder?
Thanks,

Motorola knows that no one else wants to hear your loud conversations
I solved this issue by using a Bluetooth headset. I have bad hearing due to my time in the military so I need things to be loud(or louder than normal) or I can't hear them.
