So I bought the S6 Edge for Verizon at best buy on launch day.. Because I was doing the Verizon edge I also purchased the warranty through best buy...
I'm now switching to T-Mobile and I'm purchasing the regular S6, however, I'm getting it through T-Mobile. I'm not sure if it's possible, and I don't think it is since I'm purchasing the phone directly through T-Mobile, but wanting to know if my best buy warranty would transfer to the new phone..

Did you purchase the Geek Squad Protection outright at the $169.99/$199.99 price? Or did you do the $10.99 monthly with lost & theft? Or the $7.99 monthly for accidental only? Either way, it will NOT transfer over to the T-Mobile phone, it is only for that phone you purchased at Best Buy. If you purchased the monthly, call Geek Squad (1800-Geek Squad) and you can cancel it. If you purchased the protection plan outright, you can go and do a pro-rated refund for the 3 months and two weeks that you used it.

I live in USA but do not have social security number because I am a student, (I am not a U.S. citizen) so I can not sign any contracts with carriers. I really want to buy Moto X and use it with AT&T, do you know if they are planning to sell it for full price?

i literally just got back from the ATT store, they wouldn't sell it to me without an ATT account
The regular price is showing $579.99 on AT&T's web site. That is way too much for the phone considering the Nexus 4 is $350 and can be used on T-mobile without any contracts. If you really want this phone then I would say walk into a AT&T store and see what they can do. Even though you don't have a SSN there may be special exemptions for students.
That's really hard to consider Moto X over SGS4 Google Play edition considering the same price, and people say the camera is really bad
Will have to take a look at Moto X in store today

Look at the review samples or even the "photos" thread here in the X general forum.
You can sign the contracts without SSN, all you need to do is pay a $500 security deposit, they will return it to you within a year if you pay your monthly fee on time.

I went into my local AT&T this morning trying to buy one off contract. They couldn't get the transaction to process though so the manager called support and was told that Motorola/Google are not allowing the Moto X to be sold off contract at launch.
Yeah, they told me that they won't sell it off contract for the first month

i bought mine sort of off-contract. but, instead a month-to-month "contract". pretty sure it would be pointless to buy this phone outright from AT&T. it's entirely locked down to AT&T. until someone proves otherwise, i'm unsure this "GSM" phone will work off their network.
i could be way off...

unbelieveably it is vailable in Future shop, Canad off the contract. I got mine on the release day. Even the future shop sales rep was shocked that usually system would not allow him to sell outright at least for a month...

Not sure if you can get it without a contract, but I paid full price (I and under contract for another year and not yet eligible for an upgrade). I paid full retail, which in the store rang up as $540. Not sure why, since the web site shows $579.00, but I won't complain about saving $40.
BTW - the store I went to said they wont stock 32GB versions in store, they will need to be ordered online. I bought a black 16GB Moto X.
So if I walked into an AT&T store and buy their Moto X full price, will they let me unlock it to use it on T Mobile?

At&t won't sell me a Galaxy S5 with out a contract plan. Currently I'm on At&t Gophone and tried to purchase a phone yesterday and they said completely not. The only retailer that would was Bestbuy but of course there phone is $100 more. I'm thinking about going to T-Mobile prepaid since they said they would no problem. Uh decisions, decisions. Has anyone else had this problem with At&t.

Best Buys in my area we're always jerks and wouldn't match carrier retail pricing. They would for contracts though.
It seems like it's dependent on store management on whether they will price match carrier full price.

Well I was able to get Bestbuy to price match Amazon's 699 price which I am happy enough with. But its just irritating that stores make up there own policies. Some one won't price match at all, some are saying they cant sell unless its on a contract, and one said okay and gave me the $50 off.
Sent from my XT1034 using Tapatalk
Being a corporate retail chain aren't they supposed to follow the corporate policies that Best Buy has in place, its not like they are a franchise and can do as they please. They are supposed to follow the rules, but then again thats why I buy from Amazon.

LOL You can't get a phone and I received accidently 2 additional phones. It appears that when I cancelled and re-ordered, I got charged all three orders but with one upgrade. AT&T is such a joke. At least I can wait for a root and if it bricks have two other to try it again.

I got Best Buy to price match and regretted it; maybe buying outright is ok but whatever you do keep them away from your plan/contract. I don't trust them at all at this point for anything.
They screwed us up badly at our last upgrade (a simple 2 phones - 1 plan) and we spent at least 2 hours/week for 3 months getting it sorted out. The AT&T rep it eventually escalated to was mystified as to how the Best Buy employee had altered so many points of our plan without noticing it could not work for us, even offering an upgrade on a line that I thought wasn't eligible for 2 more months. We stopped in for just my upgrade so we should have recognized that something was wrong when that happened but I had lost track of how far apart our upgrades were and she was reading it off our account screen (or so it seemed).
Our bills for that 3 month period totalled almost $2000 as Best Buy had left it. Somehow we were billed full price for the ineligible device as well. It took a while but AT&T wiped it all away and even gave us a bill credit for the hassle. The AT&T rep joked that we had to promise to avoid Best Buy for our next upgrade in exchange for the credit. Apparently this is not an isolated problem.
On the plus side it realigned the upgrade dates for our lines when AT&T restarted our original plan so I got this S5 and she got a M8 on Sunday.

Hey everyone. I've been trying to preorder this phone from Sprint from Best buy but it's no longer available. It does seem like you can preorder via sprint but I'd prefer the instant rebate. Any suggestions? Think they will refill preorder stock? Any help is appreciated
No, just use the Samsung rebate.
Meaning just go through sprint? I too was tempted to try best buy but had to wait til this payday Friday. Thanks for letting me know its out of stock for pre at BB already.

For snicks, on the BB website, just tried setting up a new line from scratch with AT&T while preordering the N4. In store pick up was not an option, which a requirement to get the $200 BB gift card.
Same thing when I tried to buy a full price Sprint one. No instore pick up available.
This is gonna be ugly for BB and Samsung.
Make sure u get ur preorder soon bestbuy is starting to shut down preorder. I was lucky to get mine in today at bestbuy in Bedford park il. Mine was an att black version.

I went in 3 times since release, and it seems pre ordering the Sprint note 4 is impossible. They either are all ordered, or I believe that they never had them for preorder to begin with. I spoke with one rep, and he said he doesn't think they would have it for sprint but had att and Verizon... I'll just go pick it up release day

Hi There,
I'm going to the states next month and would like to buy a Nexus 6. I don't think i can buy one from google play since i don't have an US address and credit card.
Does any of you guys know if it's possible to buy the phone without contract in best buy? and how has this worked with the previous models?

The US phone has different 4G bands to the 'Rest or World' N6 so things like 4G might not work. If you're in Denmark just buy it when available in your country (or from another EU country) to avoid disappointment
I'm in the US and interested in the OP's actual question. Can one buy a phone, in this case N6, from Best Buy, without contract?

I don't see why you WOULDN'T be able to. Be the same as going to Best Buy and buying something like the Note 4 off-contract for the full price as far as i'm aware.

I have had that thought and have looked up the bands my Danish carrier users and the ones the American N6 supports and it should work. But your right i should probably wait and get the european model with a quick charger that fits our sockets.

Is there an advantage to buying @bb (such as return policy or warranty)?
I don't think so, just have the gift cards to get rid of.

I have the $200 gift card from where I preordered and bought the AT&T Note 4. Returning it because of the locked down BS. Got to have my root at the very least.
I am thinking of purchasing this phone from the current private seller via an ad.
The phone is US T-mobile, outside the US and was not unlocked during the initial 4 months at T-Mobile. Apparently 2 users tried to unlock via 3rd party service it but could not.
Can I be sure it can be unlocked . It's not blacklisted.

You can unlock it only if you are using T-Mobile service for around 30 to 40 days. You then simply use the T-Mobile unlock app from the stock rom to unlock it yourself. No 3rd party service works as far as I heard. I would not bother with a locked phone. I got one in mint condition for $120 a month ago. I think the current price is around $130 for new other condition on ebay
