Issue with Root Access on M Preview 2 - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just installed Developer M Preview 2 on my Nexus 6 and I have flashed the beta SuperSU, however, when I try and change system files via ESFE or titanium backup I get denied or nothing happens. Also, when checking ESFE for writable system, it says no. When checking superSU app it shows that my apps have superSU access and grant. Also, when using layers manager app and when I try to install the layers it doesn't work. That app has been granted root.
Can anyone attempt to help me?
Thanks

Busybox.... Did you install it?

If that's not the issue, it is likely the kernel. You will need an M preview custom Kernel.

I was able to make a twrp backup. The tutorial I used didn't mention anything about formatting/clearing data.

When you downloaded the ROM, the download got screwed up, and therefore the zip wasn't signed correctly. Also if you unzip and rezip, it breaks signing. If it isn't signed correctly it wont flash. Its kind of like a safety so bad files do not get flashed and brick the phone. If you need help in fixing it i can help with that too, just ask.

I did. It isn't there. Could this be due to the fact it is rooted and running a custom rom?

After rebooting my phone I checked again and it is there, but now when I press on it to check it nothing happens. Not sure what is going on. I am running the Dynamic Rom 2.0 if that makes any difference

I am pretty sure I did use Kingo to root. Not too sure about the rest. I use safestrap to run the custom roms.
So, if I have this correct, unroot with kingo, delete safestrap, and then factory reset?
Thanks again for all of your help
Make sure that you wipe and restore your stock backup in safestrap recovery first

Why use towel root when you can use ioroot25 to install everything. Towel root only roots you still have to take separate step to having su rights

I've got friends with Sprint and they all have gotten the update. From what I've read we were supposed to get it early February. Does anyone have any ideas?

Would I have to be rooted and is it a beta build your talking about or an actual final release? I'm not stranger to rooting, I used to root and flash all the time but haven't in a couple years because with themes and everything nowadays I don't really see the need to anymore.
No root necessary and it's a final build.

I find it funny that the update from /sdcard is pretty damn useless for the 512GB version of the 9. It's not mounted as /sdcard/ so adb is the only option.
Edit: Unless I want to waste time and put an sdcard in JUST for the update. Nah.

I don't think this works if the sdcard is encrypted. Can anyone confirm this?

As I suspected, it didn't work on my phone with my encrypted sdcard.
But ADB worked just fine.
