Hello everyone. So somehow I cracked the digitizer on my S6 edge. I see many places to purchase the whole display and digitizer as a whole. I have also seen the digitizer ALONE sold as well. Huge price difference. I have NOT seen any videos on how people have changed the digitizer or top glass, or whatever you want to call it. I have done many phones before, but not the s6 edge. Is this possible to replace just the top glass and not the display as well? And if so, could someone point me to a video that shows how?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think the S6 Edge glass can be separated, check attached pictures, http://imgur.com/SVcWQ6z http://imgur.com/6RwBcYh the lcd is far too thin to be sepatated, it's very risky to damage the lcd display when you're separating the top glass.

I have seen mention here and in some of the reviews that the Nook Color's screen is made with gorilla glass, but I do not see any mention of it on B&N website or any other "official" tech specs for the device. I put a screen protector on mine, but he touch screen seems to be less sensitive now. If the device does indeed have a gorilla glass screen, I will likely remove the screen protector and do without one. So, has anyone seen "official" specs that say the Nook Color's screen is gorilla glass?
I have asked a couple sales associates in the store, but they have all just given me a blank stare
Thanks
No mention of it on the Corning website. I see the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S phones, but nothing about the Nook Color.
Doubt it
With all the things this device comes with for only $250... I doubt they could include Gorilla Glass and still make a margin.
Well, I'm not so sure they're making *any* margin on this thing. They could be expecting to make their money on NookBook sales.
Before the NC was released the specs on B&N said the LCD was a VividView screen by LG. Don't see a reference to LG on there now just that it's a VividView LCD. But if LG doesn't incorporate Gorilla Glass into any of their products I'd say it's a safe bet that it isn't in the NC.
LCD seems fragile at the edges
I have issues with my Nook Color screen on the very edges. When I press down on the top left edge and anywhere on the lower edge of the screen, I can get the LCD to go white (just like pressing on a calculator LCD and it goes nuts for a second). I don't know if this is really bad or what.
Needless to say, I don't think their using gorilla glass
I have trawled the internet and XDA site for help in installing Glass only on an S3 mini. After many videos and helpful guidnace I am still missing 1 piece of info. I bought through e-Bay a replacement "manufacturer original" replacement glass. The Samsung logo is shiny similar to the old logo on the cracked screen (have learend this is important????)
However this new screen came with an adhesive sheet as well which is the full size of the glass cover. On this adhesive sheet there is a Square U Shaped flapwhich does not appear to be related to any buttons below on the LCD
CAn anyone tell me why there is this flapo and whether the U shape should be removed before applying the glass??? Does not make any sense to me the purpose of this flap
Has anyone here replaced the glass on the active? I got a cracked but fully working phone and ordered the screen glass. I didn't bother reading about the tft glass being a little different than the amoled blued s3-s4 glass. I am pretty good at doing the S3 and the other S4 but this one is a mystery with no youtube videos showing the residue left behind or if the lcd is damaged easily, cleaning heating etc. So you guys can share any experiences you might have on the subject. Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone, I got the S6 Edge and I really enjoy it, this is for me the best smartphone ever regardless the price ^^
As we all know, the S6 and S6 edge are protected by the last Corning solution : The Gorila Glass 4. This one is great against scratches and damages according to some videos on youtube.
So I was wondering if we really need a screen protector - due to the expensive price for a GOOD one which covered all the two curved parts. I can't imagine to put one without having the two edges parts uncovered : , I've already done this to my NOTE EDGE and trust me this is really ugly

Did someone already have scratches on his S6 or S6 EDGE ?
what do you guys think about the resistance of the Gorilla Glass 4 ?
To sum it up, what do you advice me to do ?
Thanks a lot , kind of i'm getting a little bit confused with that
i think you will always get micro scratches over time, i dont use cases find them ugly and in the way but its always a risk, i myself will be getting a tempered glass front and back when they are available
There was scratches on the demo units at the launch event...any screen will scratch even GG4. It comes down to whether it will bother you if it does scrtach, and if you're willing to take the risk?

Do you need a screen protector, the answer is depends on how much you like your screen. The cost to replace the screen is $200 the cost to replace a tempered glass screen protector is $20-40 depending on the device. The Amzer Kristal product is still in mfg and will be here (soon) when its ready. For now I have a simple clear screen protector, but glass is always better.
BTW, my co-worker and his wife both have iphone 6+, she didn't think she need a glass screen protector, well she dropped hers and yup broke the screen, $200 later new screen, then a week later and still no glass screen protector, my co-worker used her phone and set it down on the kitchen counter and it missed, and yup another shattered display and another $200 spent. Now she has a screen protector, I had a spare around since I sold my iphone 6+ for a Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB.

Thanks for answering guys !
I took a microfiber and cleaned the screen .... it's already a little bit scratched : OMG
I'll buy a protector screen tomorrow
The GG4 is definitely built for damages not really for scratches ...... :crying:
I have to have a screen protector on even if it's this ****ty translucent orange peel that they call Skinomi until a true tempered glass comes out. If I even notice a tiny scratch I'll looking at it constantly
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe, maybe not ..........
My S$4 was just retired with a well scratched plastic protector. It was plastic and scratched easily. Now with it removed I have a nice new looking phone that isn't being used (after taking the protector off). I suppose if I sell it used that will be worth something. My point is that if you use plastic, you will be replacing the protector once or twice a year or living with a badly scratched protector because they scratch easily. A glass protector will last longer, but likely isn't as scratch proof as the Gorilla glass so it too may need to be replaced once or twice before you retire or sell the phone. I don't drop my phone often so haven't gone to that expense ... a rubber or silicone case around the phone protects the screen from breakage because the phone most likely will land on an edge and that breaks the screen rather than a hit to the screen itself. That protection is more valuable than a screen protector from a breakage standpoint when it comes to dropping. Even a screen protector won't help if you sit on your phone. I don't plan on a screen protector for my S6. I'm going to enjoy having a clear screen and take care of it. I did well with the S4 and will do even better with the S6.
Hi.
Okay so I've received the black Olixar Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Curved Glass Screen Protector. I've opened up the box and inspected it closely and found the bottom two corner are slightly raised upwards and the black layer on the reverse of the glass
looks like it's peeling away in the same areas to where the two raised/upturned corners are at the bottom of the screen protection.
Can anyone confirm if their's is perfect or if they have corners looking like they are miss formed?
I just want to see if I should return it or live with it even though it will ruin the great looks of the S6 edge but will provide me with protection? I haven't taken any of the protection film off the glass protector or tried fitting it but if there all the same it would be a wast of time me returning it and my screen is currently unprotected, there's also a bit of a waiting list for these.
Thanks.
