Ok...right now I have a rooted I537UCUCNE3 (4.4.2). I would like to upgrade to I537UCUCOC6 (5.0.1) AND retain root.
Is this my prescribed path?
1. Upgrade to I537UCUCNH3. Will this wipe my phone?
2. Upgrade to I537UCUCOC6. Will this wipe my phone?
3. Root the phone.
Is this my only path? Is there any way to do this without wiping?

You don't need NH3, skip that step; use this method to install lollipop, with root. This should not wipe your phone. As the method states, to be on lollipop rooted, you go straight from kitkat (NE3 is fine) to a rooted version of stock lollipop, so upgrade to OC6 and root the phone are in fact the same step
Awesome. Thanks for the insight

So I have an unlocked and rooted Nexus 6 running the unencrypted Android 5.0. However, I'm not 100% sure how to flash the new 5.1 update without losing my root or all the data on my phone. Would anyone be able to instruct me as to how I will achieve this?
Cheers
In wugs toolkit there's an option when flashing a factory image to do a no wipe mode.

If you're running a custom recovery (recommended for rooted users) then you can flash a pre-rooted stock ROM.zip that has no forced-encryption kernel built in.
I want to erase the phone and start over.
What is the quickest way to do so?
I would like to keep root but dont want to really use odin to flash kitkat first. Is there any other easy way?
Thanks

Just flash this OC1 Stock Rooted Very Easy Procedure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2 unless you're trying to get back to KitKat. Thanks @Walter.White
I am already on Lollipop. How can I reflash lollipop so I can have a clean phone again with root?
I am assuming I cant go into factory reset because I will lose root and it may even fail.
There is no safestrap for lollipop is there?

Did you do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2 to get to lollipop? If yes, then you can access Safestrap. Not sure if you would lose root doing a factory reset or not, so I would just flash the zip file from same post in safestrap.
I have a rooted NK4 kit Kat note 4 (tmobile), stock, and when I want to run a software update through the settings, it can't update because my device has been rooted. I wanna know if there's a way I can upgrade to lollipop, through my custom recovery (twrp) to update my device to lollipop without losing my data and losing root. any way this is possible? Thanks in advance for any advice or answers.
You have to use kies

You don't need Kies to upgrade your phone to the new Tmobile COD6 Lollipop firmware.
Here is a link to an easy step by step guide which will guide you through the process.

Check it out, there are many step by step guides for Tmobile N910T which tells you exactly what to do.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I've searched and researched. I'm not finding a matching thread/procedure for my situation. I've never rooted before so I wanted to make sure I was following the right procedure. Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm currently running stock recently updated AT&T 5.0 N900AUCUEOC2. I don't care if I remove stock apps and I'd prefer not to trip odin if possible. Backups of all my files have already been done manually and I'm ready for a reset/wipe.
Is it safe for me to follow the procedure for oc1 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/update-procedure-lollipop-5-0-oc1-t3063760?
What is the difference between wipe and non-wipe tars?
Will it force OTA update to OC2 after I do root procedure for OC1? Will OC2 be rooted afterwards?
Is someone working on a procedure for OC2?
I've had the same problem and haven't been able to root. Someone should try to work on this I'm sure we're not the only ones
Ditto, Att note 3 running oc2. I've tried odin and a few one click programs with no luck.
Have anyone found a way to root OC2?
There are many posts explaining how to root. Unfortunately, I don't think It can be done while on lollipop. None of the popular root tools work on lollipop (kingoroot/towelroot). You have to odin back to NC2 (Kitkat), Root, install safestrap and busybox, then you can install OC2 in safestrap via a pre-rooted OC2 ROM or backup.

Hitmizzle, you summarized very well :good: - I also spent days trying to find a root method on OC2 but to no avail. Eventually I ended up restoring to NC2, rooted, then installed a pre-rooted OC2 as you described. I think the admin should bookmark your post so as to save much time for other people.
OC2 OTA
I'm running OC1 rooted and got a notification for an update which I assume is OC2. If I take that OTA update will I lose root on my device?

Yes, assuming the update doesn't fail. If you want OC2, there's a rooted OC2 ROM update at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006
Hello.
I have a rooted XT1072, running android 5.0.2. My system version is 22.41.24.thea_retgb.retgball.en.GB retgb
Build number is LXB22.99-24. But I want to go back to the stock ROM. I rooted using the standard method described in the sticky
Is this the process?
1. uninstall supersu
2. wipe recovery and flash stock
3. Lock bootloader
Also I assume I will lose all my data/apps using this method. Is there a way to restore data after going back to stock?
Or is it better to use the moto all in one tool?
Thanks
