There's something wrong with DL: I've tried twice and failed for unkown reasons(this is first time it happens to me after hundreds of downloads)!

is this some like a skin? or it is really a windows phone 7 SO?

Hello! I tested it and here are my issues:
- the installation was a big trouble, I needed many hard resets to get somehow working it;
- the video driver crashed from the beginning;
- I wasn't able to do anything with my phone, so I had to install another OS.

Totally agree & more(weird ROM with blurry&mixed colours graphics before first sleep):
-no settings in start?!
-Today screen has one window: internet calling off...;
-using File explorer, I can't select files by simple touch, touchscreen not responding;
-in phone tab I can't dial more than 2 digits, after that touchscreen not responding;
-sounds settings(ring type,ring tone,keypad) not active;
-and many others, a big waste of time to mention them...
Sorry, but this is a failure, for the moment, at least...
Maybe some other time, a possible nice ROM demanding (probably) a lot of future work...

i have some error message in first install:

install \windows\opera_skin.cab failed, code=0x80004005

Error: htclog

tested it, graphic driver crashes from word go phone froze b4 complete setup complete dud but likin the idea will sure test if improvements are made

ROM TEST?
The graphics are terrible, the installation fails with the error - missing OperaSkin. CAB. Please solve installation errors, then you could call "ROM TEST. I do not think anything else should be said.

I flash this rom and install "Rescoexplorer" => run "system info"
the message show
"windows mobile 6.5 (wince 5.2)"
...
...

Any more details on this ROM? Progress, updates? Or is it discontinued?

I created a simple windows application to make life a bit easier.

Unlock Bootloader
1) HTC Drivers
2) Register at htcdev.com then follow the procedure.
3) Use this tool to get Identifier token
4) Submit token ID
5) Unlock bootloader from toolkit
Flash Recovery

cwm - download recovery. rename it "recovery.img" put it in data folder of software and choose flash recovery.

I'm currently new to all these rooting stuff. I check everywhere online but I couldnt find how to root my Sony Xperia Z

Android Version: 4.2.2
Build Number: 10.3.1.E.0.191
Can anyone figure this out? I want to root my device to map controller for games.

i dont need a should, I need it to be exact. and plus the link u gave me has old firmwares/model numbers. By just looking at it, its not going to work.

LOL. What a rude individual you are.
Protip - When asking for assistance, good manners are a must. You can apply that both here and in your daily life.
1. See post #26 of this thread.
You will see that it successfully roots the firmware that you have. You will also see from the first post of the thread that the exploit was created by cubeundcube.
2. The tool I originally linked to contains the same exploit by cubeundcube, without the need to manually set the path to adb for it to work. I specifically linked the easier to use tool, as if you're unable to find these things by yourself with a Google search, you obviously need the simplest method possible.
So, to sum up, if I say it WILL work, you will try it? I said "should" because I own an international unbranded, unlocked Z (C6603), not a crippled carrier branded variant, so I cannot say 100% that it will work.
Try it if you want. If not, good luck with your unrooted phone.
In future, if I see any more requests for help from you, I'll be sure to stay clear, lest I do not meet your exacting standards.

If you have a 6606, then you are in North America, (Canada / US). Please check if your bootloader status is locked or not. You probably need to unlock your bootloader first from your wireless provider first.

The C6606 bootloader is permanently locked. There is no way to unlock it and neither Sony or T-Mobile will help.
Sony will blame T-Mobile for requesting that their branded variant has a non-unlockable bootloader and T-Mobile don't have the means to change it.

Need G1 RC29 Firmware.

I Have been searching for the RC29 Firmware to download my htc g1 that i picked up off ebay a week or so ago. all download links i have found around xda lead to long dead file sharing sites.... i really don't want to have a wasted plastic brick of the g1. as i wanted to see what it was like to use the thing, as im a bit of a tech person and such. So if anyone still has the file lying around could you please give/send me a download link?? i have been searching for the past day or so and all remaining links seem to lead to virus filled sites or long dead file sharing ones..... surely this firmware could not have been lost to the test of time. i need to downgrade it so i can forcefully activate it using adb. As i don't have a sim card.

Hey. I have just got a htc dream and thought i would get some of files and try to archive them somewhere they would always stay. For now they are just on my server. Go to godfrey.online and there should be some files there. Good luck

I think you need to sideload updated Google Account Manager with ADB to login, or try to enable 2FA on your Google account, then make an "App Password" and use it for the phone

Don't root if you are in a hurry
Bootloader unlock is at least 7 days waiting
Backup before and restore after format is again a couple of hours
Brick is a couple of weeks or papermate

I've read somewhere that removing miui security app will break your OS, so make backup before.

There is a lot of information how to unlock and root your Xiaomi device.
So I won't give you a detailed guide.
- Start with bootloader unlock
- While waiting 7 days, study how to go further and download everything you need.
- Like ADB, Twrp or Orangefox, Magisk, Custom rom and optional Gapps
...................... Studying before next actions is necessary to avoid a brick ..........................................
- After 7 days, unlock
- Flash with fastboot, recovery (Twrp or Orangefox)
- Reboot to recovery
- Follow flash and format instructions of desired Rom
- Flash Magisk for root
