[MOD] No waking on charger connection - Galaxy S6 Themes and Apps

This is a quick little zip to flash in TWRP or Flashfire if you do not want your phone to wake when plugged into a charger. It also removes the system sound for charger connection. Download 1 is the mod, Download 1 1/2 is the same mod but with the charger sound still active, and Download 2 will reverse it back to stock.
Most of the work was already done by @tdunham with his smali edits, found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799050 . I just packaged it into a flashable zip.
Flash at your own risk, this was made and tested for SM-G920F but should work on all variants on 5.1.1
DOWNLOAD 1: No Wake on Charge Tool
DOWNLOAD 1 1/2: No Wake on Charge, Sound still active
DOWNLOAD 2: No Wake Reversal, back to stock

Works like a charm. Thanks mate!
If you don't bother, a second variant with sound would be awesome.

As requested, op updated with sound left alone variant..

Thanks for this mate! Just wondering does it also stop screen lighting up when you unplug the USB?
Sent from my SM-G920I using XDA Premium HD app

YES!
this has to be my all time favourite mod, used it 5 or 6 years ago (htc desire) but forgot about it ever since..
100% working on my G925f 5.1.1 carHDrom v.5.3
Many Thanks!
(I really can't understand the logic behind having your phone switch on when connecting to a charger and when disconnecting?)

I've found a little bug / annoyance with the edit. If you have any notifications, such as text messages etc. The phone will continue to wake (at least appears to be on wireless charging notifications).
@tdunham, I originally followed your smali edits for USB wake -( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2799050) any other edits you can suggest? Android L - Thanks

Yeah I do...did last night. Will have to check again maybe...so you're saying whenever your wirelessly charging and a notification is received, then the phone/screen will wake up and stay awake, screen doesn't turn off?

will this prevent screen waking once charge reaches 100%?

Notifications waking the phone are completely different I think and not really sure if you want to disable them. People would be pretty upset if they missed a text msg or email notification that they really needed.
We use blocking mode to prevent notifications from waking the phone. I have mine set for 10:00pm to 6:00am and is great for after hours if you keep the phone bedside.
I'm not sure if there is a global edit to prevent wakes on notifications. Technically, an incoming phone call could be considered a notification so if they were all disabled, I think that would be too.
I'm not sure the best way to go about it but I know you can disable notifications per app in the app manager, just uncheck the notifications checkbox.

Thanks for the reply @tdunham, the issue appears to be as follows.
No notifications
No notifications regarding the wireless charging / charging (doesn't wake screen). Notifications for apps still come through (does wake screen) (this is expected and want to keep)
When notifications are on lockscreen
If there are notifications waiting to be reviewed, for some reason the wake up on wireless charging is activated again - I.E "wireless charging paused", "wireless charging" wakes the screen (not desired)
My phone is currently at 96% on wireless charging (I know there is not really any point in charging past 90% as it takes so long, but it just sits in the cradle)

I just tested the waking on wireless charger while notifications are active, the screen doesn't wake for me while on the charger, but does wake when you take it off the charger. This is with a notification waiting.
It also has this behavior on a wireless charger even without a notification active.

Just tested it again this end, exactly the same here.
Problem seems to be with the wireless charging, not sure about your charger but sometimes the dam thing stops and starts randomly (this in turn wakes the screen).

I have two wireless chargers, one I bought and one I made, both don't turn on and off like yours but I have experienced it when it's not quite positioned right on charger, you can see it alternate from charging to charging paused. This would wake it continually

do i need to set any monitor app if i want it notice the miss call? if so, which?
Can't make it work with DocSlim
I tested all settings, i changed parameters in Accessibility, nothing happens...
Have you tried a reboot (though mine worked fine without on cm. Weird..)
Very nice, works on the G2x as well, with cm7
it works on su660 (korean version of o2X) too. thanks for good information.
Yep !
I've been using it since version 0.2 and it works really good. I just installed last version from market.
To emprize : no you don't need any app monitor for missed call. It's one of the 3 basics (Gmail, SMS/MMS, Missed call). Look into "notification" if "Missed call" is checked (should be by default).

problems is that as soon as you have a notification, your phone will not go to sleep. And then will drain battery until you check your phone
Yea that's what I mean but you didn't notice a serious drain because of that?
Just to be sure, the screen remains off and the buttons glow it is simply that the phone doesn't go into "sleep" mode (what somehow makes sense)?!
Did some testing
And my sleeping phone (no notification) consume 2-3% an hour
With the notification glowing (meaning no sleep) for an hour, I loose 10%
The phone does sleep, the app has zero wakelock according to spare parts.
well, the leds are still blinking, from what I know (I still may be wrong there's no LG routine for the blinking. It does mean it's done by the "LG O2X Touch LED Notifications" so no sleep...
well this is what I'm guessing, since we do not have the source code
Just cos an app does something doesn't mean it has to keep the phone awake to do it

glaxy note notification light

anyone know if galaxy note has notfication light..i keep missing messages and missed calls
The Note doesn't have a notification light. For me it's the worst thing about the phone.
There is a mod (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389394&highlight=+mod+) that lights up the menu and back buttons when you have a notification. I've not tried it though...
Nope, there's none out of the box, which is a pity, you'll need something like

I got high battery drain with NoLED. And you should know that not only the shown pixels are on, the whole Display is. And with "black" the red and green AMOLED-Pixels are on as well. In summary an AMOLED-display itself supports a single lit pixel but the Android framework does'nt. So display notifications are useless in this form...
I m fully agree for battery n full screen notification. But here two more nice function help to reduce problem. Sleep time - i just do noled off for my sleep time, so no more notification reminder, as well disturbance
Another is audio reminder, if phone is in pocket even it remind you with audio. So chances to remain screen on/miss event is minimal.

Some custom kernels are compatible with BLN app (free in the market).
Search "BLN" with google, it's the best notification app (for me)

iam using v 5.1.2, do you mean Sleep time: is time settings--> time and sleep , where you adjust NoLed off at sleeping time?
Never tried the audio reminder, how it sound? would it be like someone keep telling you (you got a missed call)?
Ah yeah I forgot: The high battery drain is partially caused by the fact that the CPU cannot be in deep sleep while the display is on. Another "feature" of the Android framework...

Yes sleeping time means, noled remains disabled for given scheduled time.
For audio reminder you can set repeat time of it like how frequent it give reminder for missed event, n also selection of ring tone for audio reminder.

[Q] Wake up on charging

I like to keep the battery in my Note as charged up possible which means I plug it into the charger most times I come home and so I have to unplug it whenever I leave ... and so both coming and going the phone display turns on when I plug/unplug it and 99.9% of the time I don't want this. If the display is off it should just stay that way! For some reason I find this unwanted behavior so obnoxious I was going to get rid of the phone ... until I realized that getting a new phone might likely have the same problem since it seems to be quite common. I'm not so sensitive to other things not quite working the way I would like, but that one is so obviously crazy and happens so many times per day that it bugs me more and more each day. I've never seen this discussed, so my main confusion on this issue is why this doesn't seem to bother anybody else.
Anyway I noticed in the Revolt Rom there is a feature in the list called "Wake up on charging".
Does having this feature imply that one can disable it ... i.e. not have it wake up when the charger is plugged in?
Also does this mean that you can also disable Wake up when charging is terminated by unplugging the charger?
Please say yes and I will just die now and go to heaven.
If my interpretation of this feature is correct ... can most modern roms do this or is this unique to the Revolt rom?
Thanks

I have found option in developer menu but that states to keep device awake.
Usually screen dims and sleeps after a while.
I press powerbutton to put screen into sleep.
Another workaround could be to use tasker and program it to set screen off upon adding charger.

Yes it dims after 10 minutes (in my case since that is my sleep delay setting), but why should I waste 10 minutes of power or why should I have to press the power button to avoid this? My point is that this makes no sense. It would make way more sense for the screen to turn off when I tell it to and not otherwise.
> Another workaround could be to use tasker and program it to set screen off upon adding charger.
Now you're talking. A suggestion that actually worked. I had never heard of tasker. I paid the 3 bucks, then spent an hour learning how it works and figuring out the right combination of profile contexts and tasks ... and then it didn't work. I was using button number 26 which was supposed to be the power button but I never figured out why this didn't turn off the screen on the N7000. (Surprisingly tasker does not have a task identified as turning off the display!). Eventually however I stumbled across the fact that the task item called "system lock" turned off the display, and that did the trick for me. It was a minor expense and a lot of work to get my phone to behave the way I believe it should have to begin with ... but I'm happy that I prevailed in the end. Thanks very much for your suggestion.

I think jellybam had this option and surely some other ROMs have it too, but I can't help You with 10.1 ROMs as I don't use them myself.
However You might wanna give a chance to 10.2. I think it's pretty good for daily usage as I'm using it like 3 weeks now. All the major bugs have been fixed. The only unsupported apps are the navigation ones like tom tom and automapa. However forevermaps still works.

notification by just the led light?

Hi all.
I have two questions.
1) is it possible to be notified by just led notification, on any app ( no vibration, no sound)?
2) how can I disable Doze for sync or wifi, I have a problem with doze because it put to sleep everything including wifi and sync so my Gmail especially, notifies me only when I manually swipe down inbox.
I am not rooted on Cata rom latest the rest is all stock 601 S.
Thank you all.

1. yes. must be rooted and it needs to be in the ROM/kernel you are using or you could use the app light flow.
Regarding question 2, there are no settings for Doze. The entire idea behind Doze is to disable everything when the device is lying still (i.e. not being used or touched) and is not on charge. If you want sync and WiFi to function while the Nexus 6 isn't being used, plug the phone into the charger.

actually, there are settings, in the filesystem. problem is that there is no user ui. but, there is an app posted in XDA with those settings put into a ui.

here you go, an app for the doze settings http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/root-doze-settings-editor-android-t3235130
Ok, but will that work in this case? The OP wants to keep his WiFi up and sync running, which will effectively prevent Doze from ever kicking in. The way I understand what he's asking for, if he doesn't want Doze he should go back to Android 5.1.1 instead.

I actually agree with your last statement, and just plug in.
doze does nothing for me, considering that its usually in my back pocket when not using it. and for doze to work, it must be laying flat, not moving around. which my phone is never in that position. anyways, I'm very happy with my battery life without doze as it is
With my work schedule, Doze doesn't kick in all that much unless I'm home. Even then we're talking a few hours at most. :good:

Also works with tasker and set light function.
I have an almost stock rom, and my phone is on my desk most of my working hours, yet I both get all my messages, and Doze still works.
I've read about people having problems syncing, but I get all my mail and notifications. So Doze should never interfere with these.

Request: display clocks night mode...

where exactly are you stuck at?
Basically the whole thing... I created a profile called night mode to turn on and off at certain hours.
In the tasks tab, I've tried to set up the wifi network, but don't see a variable for specifying being connected to it, nor do I see anything for the battery charging wirelessly.
A couple you tube videos later and I'm scratching my head harder.

so for the Wi-Fi part:
- there is the state 'Wi-Fi connected' to activate when you are connected
- you can use 'test net' to store ssid to a variable, then check it for a match with certain ssid, with which you want the profile to react to - only do when connected to certain Wi-Fi.
I don't have wireless charge so I cannot say anything here, but if I remember correctly, recent update of Tasker has included detection of this, so too should bff able to sound something useful in those states or events.
Then finally, in the clock app, you can either try to use intent or simulate taps to switch it to night clock.
After that, hopefully you will be happy with the result
Thank you sir. I will give those a shot

for connecting to Wi-Fi, sometimes it does not connect without screen on though, and I still have not figured that out.

Still gotta unlock the phone to start the process though.
