WiFi always on - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

In battery usage my wifi is almost always on. But it is turned off from settings and I have disabled "always allow scanning.." from advanced settings. Is it possible to realli turn wifi off. In android 4.4.4 unchecking "always allow..." was helping. Now I have android 5 OF2

Wifi Standby Policy

I was playing around with the Wi-Fi sleep policy settings and I am little bit confused how it really works.
The default setting is something like: "turn off wifi when screen is turned off".
So as I understand it it should disable wifi when the screen is turned off.
However when I checked my device list at my router it seemed that my n1 was still connected through wif, even after the screen was turned off. Only after 5-10 minutes wifi was really disconnected (when I turned on the screen again the wifi symbol in the top bar appeared after some seconds). I read somewhere that there is a difference between disabling wifi and disconnecting wifi?
BTW. the wifi sleep policy is supposed to save battery because it is said that 3G in idle mode requires less power than a wifi connection, but I read that with the nexus one the opposite is true. so what's the truth?
It's normal for the wifi to disconnect after several minutes of inactivity once the screen turns off. As for your very last question, I don't know... but I imagine that idle 3G is less power intensive than active wifi, otherwise it wouldn't be the default option...

Wifi Tweak ?

Hi
I am regular user of Yahoo and MSN and i use them over wifi but the issue that when i am connected to wifi i get disconnected when i chose "Turn off device if not user for * Min", but when i disable this option backlight turns off but still the light is on and this light is consuming battery uselessly
Any suggestion or tweak to keep wifi alive when Device is turned off..
Thanx
Use "Advanced Config" (3.3), go into "more settings" "Connections" and then enable "Enable Wi-Fi on standby mode"
That's what i've done, since i want to decide myself whether or not i want Wi-Fi active, not to let the phone decide... -.-
Thanx it worked .... Mods kindly delete the Post...
be adviced:
wifi running in standby AND charging the phone results in a really, really, really hot battery sometimes. so disable wifi when charging your phone over night.

[LSC] Keep wifi on during sleep

After upgrading to LSC, I noticed that "Keep wifi on during sleep" when set to NEVER, no longer work. Under battery, wifi is constantly ON.
Any one has a fix for this ?

Wi-Fi deactivation bug

Hi,
I have found a bug with Wi-Fi, you can monitor it with the help of this battery menu ( see screenshot ).
So, basically if you turn Wi-Fi on, then off, Wi-Fi won't deactivate. It will be deactivated only after a reboot or after activating/deactivating airplane mode.
How to monitor:
Activate Wi-Fi, deactivate it and then wait at list half an hour. Then go in the same battery menu than screenshot and you will see Wi-Fi is still activated ( solid blue bar).
Now deactivate Wi-Fi and briefly activate/deactivate airplane mode. Wait half an hour then go again in the same menu than screenshot : Wi-Fi is really deactivated.
Tried disabling "Scanning always available" in the Advanced WIFI setting?
I think it has to do it

Lollipop 5.1 & MM 6.0 Update Breaks Hot Spot (Tethering) When Display Shuts Off (M9)

Lollipop 5.1 & MM 6.0 Update Breaks Hot Spot (Tethering) When Display Shuts Off (M9)
Long time HTC user. Just switched to tmobile and got a new HTC M9, the phone came with Lollipop 5.0. Included with my my plan is HotSpot (Tethering). For 2 days I had my hotspot enabled and the device worked flawlessly.
So eventhough I had unchecked auto-update in the settings, the phone decided to auto update to 5.1 while I was driving. After the OTA update, whenever my display shuts off, my hotspot also shuts off.
Inside Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile Network Sharing>Mobile Hotspot>Power Mode> Is set to "Always On"
Inside Settings>Power>Power Saver "Optimize battery life" is "OFF"
Inside Settings>Wifi>Advanced Wifi>Wifi optimization" is "OFF"
All the settings as far as I can see are correct but the hotspot shuts off as soon as the display shuts off. HTC is telling me to leave the phone screen on which is absurd.
Thoughts comments? Any other t-mobile users confirm the issue?
I am fully stock.

Yes that is the case , hot-spot will disconnect when screen shuts off, stupid I agree. Think it's something to do with doze power saver.
The only option is keep screen awake while charging in dev options for now.
