Hello!
Before I start, I'd like to apologize if I'm using this board a wrong way (if I'm maybe posting this thread in a wrong section or something, or if there already is a similar thread ), I'm new here, and as my username says, I'm quite confused... I'm a student in training for my first potential job, which involves programming Android applications, and I haven't learned very much so far, which is why I need a little help now...
My first task is to make an External Storage Media Player app. I'm working with Android Studio, and using Nexus 5 API 22 x86 emulator for testing the app. Now, what I need to know is, if I actually have a USB device plugged in the computer, how can I access its file system from this emulator? I mean, as it's plugged in the computer, not in the emulator, how can it be accessed?
Thank you in advance for helping me, and please don't laugh at me if I'm asking noob questions, I actually am pretty much of a beginner at this...

I was wondering if someone could please help me as I am a complete noob at this. I recently purchased the Tilt (Kaiser) and I love it. My question is what is the best emulator for SNES to run on the tilt and can anyone give me a step by step instruction on how to put it on my phone. I was also curious as to how to put Shadow Of Legend on as well (cant seem to do it). I have plenty of space as I have a 4gb sdhc card. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in adavance.
Nick
There are quite a few emulators around. Some people like one and some people will hate it. It's all about personal prefs really.
Have a look around the web http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=snes+emulator+for+pocket+pc&meta=
find a few and install them.... usually they are just a cab file that needs putting on your device and then clicking to run it exactly the same as any other PPC bit of software
Yo guy, stop making the same thread over and over again. The mods keep closing them for a reason you dope.
Sorry man im just getting overly frustrated with this i cant seem to get it on my phone i dont know exactly what to do.
Ok, I'm going to try and close this topic once and for all...
I went to http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Download.aspx and downloaded MorphGear and SNES9X MorphModule by clicking on the link [CAB].
I then extracted both of the resulting ZIP files on my Vista box, and copied them to my phone using WM Device Center. After the copy was complete, I tapped on both CABs to install them (to Main Memory). I then copied one of my SNES games to my phone (I will not provide any of these because they are illegal unless you have the physical cartridge in your possession).
I then went to Start -> Programs -> Games -> MorphGear, and launched the program. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF NEEDING A SERIAL NUMBER, MorphGear is an open source application.
I then clicked on the Open file icon and browsed to where I copied Super Punch Out (my SNES game of choice) to, and tapped on it to open.
I spent 30 minutes playing it at FULL 60fps with NO slowdown due to piss poor video drivers that we have to work with.
Please do not take this next part the wrong way, but if you do not know how to install a CAB file or copy files to your device using either ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center, you need to do A LOT of reading before you attempt to do anything other than make/receive phone calls on your device.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.
If I install unbuto on my computer will I still have access to files allready on hard drive? Is is able to use my wifi etc.?
wifi should work, with jaunty. as for the files i believe anything but what is in itunes u can import. good luck!
I have a sneaking suspicion that you might want to first learn how to spell your chosen distro's name before attempting to make the leap from Windows to Linux.

What does this have to do with the HTC Dream/TMobile G1 devices?
I have to agree that on first look, it does appear that the G1 is unrelated to ubuntu and linux...
However...after getting a G1 with it's open source OS and no longer needing the horrible mess that is activesync, I too have moved to open source on my desktop (well, laptop...) - I tried ubuntu but switched to Mint (which is based on ubuntu but I prefer it).
Android is so easy going that it'll work with any operating system and is one of the first phones I've had where it is an easy fit. I've even managed to sort out music syncing similar to itunes or Winamp for android and I'm well happy.
I very rarely boot into my windows partition any more and that is thanks to android.
As regards the question about accessing your files, yes, most of them will be compatible with linux equivalents but back everything up before you install it - in most cases, putting it on will require at the least, some messing with partitions on your disk which is inherently risky, and at worst, a total re-format.
I keep my windows around for games (C&C!!!) and very little else nowadays and am more than happy with linux.
So's my phone ;-)
if youre on vista it is a b*ich to partition since it takes up space it is not even using, but yea you should be able to keep youre files
Hi All,
I wanted to share with you something that I think could develop into something quite useful (and cool ). I have successfully managed to launch remote applications from my Linux server onto my TP (similar to Citrix). For those that might be somewhat skeptical I've attached a screenshot below. And yes, your eyes do not deceive you – it most certainly is Word 2007 running! But before everyone starts jumping up and down with excitement, it's not an TP application that I've developed – more proof of concept.
If people are interested in trying this out themselves please let me know and I'll put up some instructions. Just a wording of warning though, this is a little fiddly and requires the user to use CLI via Executah and also a Linux PC (not sure how to achieve this with a Windows PC).
Also, if there are any Xterm/XServer/WebOS Developer experts for the TP here that can help me, please come forward as I would like to push this to be more GUI based so I could really use some help.
Thank you.
How does this compare to splashtop remote?
Wow very neat!
Don't run Linux so not for me but i'd find this useful if someone knew a way to do this via windows?

it's not as advance as splashtop. It's merely just a remote application running on a linux server. The example I posted was of word running via wine on my ubuntu server. However, I've managed to get rdesktop installed on the touchpad which means there is a possibility of running a windows application. I will try this out and see if it works.
I will report back as soon as I have some info. I post a screenshot of a windows app running, asumming I can get one to run.
Hello everyone!
Been searching for this everywhere, but it seems no one covered it yet.
As u all know, when the HTC Sync app isn't frozen in Titanium Backup, there's a virtual CDROM being created.
THere's one thread about that here and one app on the play store here that emulated an USB drive from an ISO file.
Question is : Would there be an app out there to bypass the read only type of that app? Could one create a buffer to re-zip to iso after mods are done? Don't know anything about the consequences of such coding, though.
I know it's kinda technical.
Please, avoid posting any rubbish answer, it's kinda serious, no need to post to augment your message count. Thanks!
hey everyone,
i created a litte application for windows which allows you to sync multiple folders from your android device to your windows pc by using adb commands.
this might be useful for syncing your photos or similar...

have fun...
I like it. I seriously hate mtp so much.
ALSO I JUST POPPED YOUR THANKS VIRGINITY
haha thank you.
i hope this tool will find some more users cause xda-dev was the only reason for me to "professionalize" it
i've been using a hardcoded preversion of this tool for about 1 and a half years or so along with my old galaxy nexus.
without it, copying my camera-pictures would have been a torture...
