MHL 3.0 only outputting 4k - no image on a 1080p TV - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an MHL 3.0 adapter (Skiva MediaFlow HD-X4) that is only outputting 4k to my TV that only has a resolution of 1080p (Panasonic VT50).
Phone is not rooted, stock 5.1.1. I can hear audio and use remote control functions like pause and skip tracks on the phone using my TV remote.
Has anyone been able to output 1080p60 video from an MHL 3.0 adapter with this phone? Should I just use an MHL 2.0 adapter with remote capability instead? But I thought MHL 3.0 is backwards compatible? What MHL adapters are you using successfully?
Many thanks.

chromecast to usb audio input?

Has anyone tried to use an hdmi to usb adapter to hook chromecast to a stereo with a usb input and built in DAC?
If this works it would be a great cheap way to stream google music to my amp with a built in DAC. I'd like to avoid the BT route.
I guess the big issue would be if the audio format was readable for a dac after being pushed through a HDMI to USB converter.
Thanks ahead of time.

How can I play games on my One, on my TV?

Let me rephrase just in case, I'd like to run emulators on my HTC One, play them with a Moga Controller via bluetooth, and watch them on my tv via an HDMI cable. But can an hdmi cable transfer everything shown on screen like running emulators? I've read that it only works for watching movies and internet browsing.
If this is all possible, what kind of hdmi cable and adapter would I need? I know the One doesn't support micro-hdmi, only mhl. Any suggestions?

Yes MHL is what you need. I use one made by PNY. Make sure you give the adapter power through the micro usb port. From my adapter I use a standard HDMI cable to the TV.
I believe it just mirrors everything on your phone, unless the app is programmed to do differently (like not showing playback controls on external screen). I play Real Racing 3 and use Netflix and play music with MHL.
A few things, though: MHL selects resolutions based on what you TV reports. If your TV does 1080p, then MHL uses that but at a lower refresh rate (I think it's 24Hz). If your TV only does 720p, then MHL will use that but at higher refresh rate (30? not sure). I never found a way to manually set it.
Then there's also a bit of lag. So if MHL chooses 1080p and lower refresh rate, it could become quite difficult to play fast action games.

HDMI MIrroring in 4K

Goodmorning everyone
I bought an HDMI adapter, it works fine with Note 8.
There is no need to make any changes, as it is already set up to work with both DEX and HDMI Mirroring.
Reaches a 4K resolution,tried and fully functional.
Works with S8/S8plus/Note8

Is this using the full 4k resolution, or outputting in 1080 and then upscaled by the monitor? Does this work with mouse and keyboard also?
I'm thinking of this as a Dex replacement that is more portable.
this adapter is self-tuning to screen resolution,it can not support mouse and keyboard.
To do that You will need the Dex.The second native and 1080p and it suits the screen

S10 issues connecting to Dex via a VGA monitor

Hi everyone !
I have been using Samsung Dex with a type-c to HDMI cable on my 4K TV and it worked flawless. It's great and smooth.
I wanted to do the same at the office with my computer monitor. Since it doesn't have any HDMI input I bought a VGA to HDMI adaptor.
When I connect my phone to the VGA to HDMI adaptor using a type-c to HDMI cable, nothing happens. It seems like the monitor doesnĖ‹t recognize the S10.
Has anyone of you succeeded in getting Dex work on a VGA monitor ?
VGA cables can't output 1080 if I remember correctly
