I am relocating to Dubai for work next month, where they have 2 main cell providers that both provide LTE on Band 3 / 1800 Mhz.
I have an unlocked T-Mobile Note 4 and want to know there is anything I must do in order to get the phone working 100% with LTE on the cell network in Dubai.
Samsung's website say that these are the supported bands of the SM-N910T:
NETWORK
Frequencies and Data Type
2G GSM : GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS(WCDMA) : B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850)
4G LTE FDD : B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700)
So, if I throw in my Etisalat SIM card when I get to Dubai, should I get calls, text & LTE working at full-speed?
Seems like the answer should be yes, but I'm a bit skeptical, since the Galaxy S5 supposedly supports all of the same LTE bands , then I come across this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
Any input is appreciated as I will be relying heavily on my phone & need it function correctly as soon as I get there
@wrestlerkid
You may need to have them set your apn at the store to get it working at first!

I have a European Note 4 (SM-N910F) that I want to be able to use on T-Mobile's network. It is unlocked and I am only getting Edge right now. Does T-mobile not support these specific bands for LTE? What about other carriers? Help!
I believe these are the supported bands of my device..
2G GSM
GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS
B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900)
4G FDD LTE

To my knowledge T mobile only supports the 1700 and 1900 bandwith. Look at the specs on their website for what other frequencies they support. Let me know if you are successful because I want to buy an international phone as well and run it on tmobile.

On which band?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Check this site - gives you all the LTE band frequencies world wide
It is still not 100% clear to me if it should work or not. Someone else care to clarify for me? Thanks
2G EDGE - Yes
4G HSPA+ AWS 1700 - No
4G HSPA+ PCS 1900 - Yes (in refarmed areas)
4G LTE AWS 1700 (B4) - Yes

I have the same phone you have on T-Mobile and do not get LTE. Yes, my area is covered by LTE in case you wondering. Sad Sad
HK version note 5 has dual sim, which is much appreciated by someone who travels a lot like me, so instead of getting a Verizon note 5, I'd much rather buy one in Hong Kong. The problem is that I am not sure if it would be compatible with Verizon's 4G LTE network, and it'd be awesome if someone knows.
4G FDD LTE
B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B25(1900), B26(800), B28(700)
4G TDD LTE
B38(2600), B39(1900), B40(2300), B41(2500)
This is what hk samsung says on the specs page.
does it have CDMA radios? I'm guessing it doesn't. Also, you'll need Band 13 LTE too. B4 coverage is pretty limited, especially if you leave town.

Thanks a lot for the reply. As a matter of fact, it does have CDMA radios.

Currently, I'm thinking about leaving Verizon for T-Mobile prepaid. Termination fee would be a hassle, but t-mobile is much cheaper in comparison so I think it adds up. And I'm guessing that this would work with T-Mobile LTE?
What is a comprehensive set of differences between the Galaxy Tab S2 models SM-T815 and SM-T817? The latter is T-Mobile. I am curious which LTE bands are supported by each model.

Apparently the T815 also have different version, in hong kong and china it's the T815C, differences between the china and hong kong version is the installed apps, and the china version does not have play store and some other google app.
Hong Kong and China version
2G GSM- GSM850,GSM900,DCS1800,PCS1900
3G WCDMA - B1(2100),B2(1900),B5(850),B8(900)
3G TD-SCDMA - B34(2010),B39(1880)
4G FDD LTE - B1(2100),B3(1800),B7(2600),B8(900),B28(700)
4G TDD LTE - B38(2600),B39(1900),B40(2300),B41(2500)
Thank you for the info. Would love to have the t817 bands so it works @4g lte in Europe and all T-Mobile lte bands. But i already have an sm-t807t so cannot justify upgrading. Especially with lower battery capacity on the S2.

So if I have a T815C, can I use a rom or other software (or firmware?) for a T815, such as the stock Marshmallow rom from Germany?

Quoting the same question: the market is full of variation on the same model T810, T815, T819N .... and so on.
Can I install Cyanogenmod, in example, without to check if it is meant to be installed on T815 and nothing but T815?
If it is just a frequency difference, I think I can, but please confirm.
Hoping some on could point me in the right direction here.
I purchased a Huawei p10 plus (vky-l09) in German at mediamarkt which the sales person said was unlocked.
used the phone while travelling through europe with various different sims without any issues.
When I returned to Chile and inserted my Entel sim card the network name + signal bars appeared for a few seconds then disappeared showing only Emergency calls only.
At first I thought I might me something to with the networks the phone is capable of connecting to but upon reinserting a foreign sim the phone connects to the local Entel network (in roaming mode of course) and I tried various foreign
I have tried forcing the operator to be entel by deselecting automatic and forcing it connect to correct network but it just says "Network Registration Failed"
When inserting the sim card from Chile it doesn't show any where to insert an unlock code so i'm assuming it's unlocked.

It does not seems to be related with bands. These phones do have LTE4 B4 which is used in this corner of the world. You might want to check if your phone Imei is not blocked with the carrier (ask them to unblock if that is the case). Trying with another carrier SIM would be a good idea as well.

Thanks for this, i talked my mobile company here it turns out as of the 23rd of September 2017 the chilean government needs to register the IMEIs of all imported phones.
it's to do with them trying to assure that all phone have the SAE installed. more info here multibanda.cl (sorry can't post link yet)
You can get the operator to the registration for you or look at the list of provides on multibanda.cl
Where can I find battery life test results between a Verizon CDMA phone and GSM only? I read both ways lots of places for different reasons.
The reason I ask is I'm on Verizon, and plan to spend a lot of time in Colombia, South America where they use GSM only. If there is no real difference, then the Verizon phone covers more and better GSM LTE bands than the AT&T model. If the AT&T phone has substantial battery life advantage, I'll either switch, or see if Verizon has approved the AT&T model for their network yet.
Phones that technologically work on Verizon's network are not allowed to be activated unless they have been tested. If you know any place where I can check by model number instead of signing up and submitting and IMEI, let me know.
Thanks!
