[Q] [URGENT] Please help my Sprint HTC One wont flash kernels!!! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a sprint htc one on ebay and I'm having trouble with it. I s-off'd the phone and unlocked it so I could install twrp and insertcoin. I did all of that but when I went to flash a kernel my phone began rebooting every 5 minutes and it lost the baseband, imei, service, etc. when in the os. Now its problem has stemmed and gotten worse, the phone now wont even flash other kernels. It says successfully flashed and then if I reboot to the os and check either it flashed and says unkown kernel, baseband, imei, prl, etc. or it didn't change anything. I'm at a loss. I believe it may have been a faulty ruu upgrade that messed up/partially corrupted the boot, data, cache, and radio partitions.

Did you flashed kernels compatible with sprint variant (M7WLS) ? M7_U and M7_UL stuff (kernel recovery and roms) is not compatible with sprint M7.
I guess the answer is no
You have flashed a M7_UL kernel on your M7WLS. M7_UL kernel partition is mmcblk0p33.
mmcblk0p33 partition on the sprint variant is guess what? You radio partition... that would explain why your imei, baseband prl and other "radio" stuff aren't working. Make sense?
Nothing to worry about, this is recoverable. Re-flash your rom (a sprint compatible rom) using a sprint compatible custom recovery. Then if you still want a custom kernel, flash it but make sure its sprint compatible
:good:
You should be able to find everything (roms, kernels) in the sprint htc one forum. For the recovery, i.e twrp, just make sure you flash one that ends with M7WLS.img and not M7.img

I flashed insertcoin rom for the sprint variant. I have chosen sprint and reflashed multiple times. On insert coin sprint i cant flash kernels at all, same with nusenseven, but with viperone 9.0.0 i can flash kernels but it removes my baseband and imei and corrupts my radio partition and i then have to reflash the radio which reverts my kernel back to the stock kernel for some reason.

If you are sure you have tried only sprint kernels then I would try other roms to see if its a problem with the rom you are using. If you are using the right combination, you shouldn't have any issue. Recovery, rom and kernel must be compatible with sprint (m7wls). Kernel must also be compatible with your android version (a kernel designed for lets say android 4.4.2 won't work on 5.0.2).

I honestly dont know what the problem is, all i can say is dont use viper4android or insertcoin if you have a sprint device. It doesnt work. What did work is i flashed nusenseven and everything works after i extracted and fastboot flashed the boot.img from the rom.

You can't flash a bootloader that is not intended for your phone variant, you will brick it. But wait, you are talking about TWRP which is not the bootloader, its the recovery. You can't neither flash a recovery that is not intended for your phone variant!! Recovery and bootloader version have absolutely nothing to do with the message you got about your sim card.

Stop flashing things that are not intended for your M7VZW !!! You will end up messing your partitions. Go read the forums or ask here before doing thing you don't understand.
There also a specific forum for the Verizon Htc one here, you could probably find more precise information for your phone variant.

You are right, my mistake - I mean recovery flash
I was using HTC HD2 on several androids builds before so I get to use with partition mess
All I neet is to get rid of verizon from my toy. Do you think that flashing fimware, radio etc could help ? Something like described here for m7vzw phones http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46506621 but for m7.

[Q] Rooting Hboot 1.57.0000

Hey guys,
Im new to HTC One. I have Tmobile version running on stock sense 6. I wanted to install a custom stock rom without the Tmobile Bloatware.
I know how to unlock the bootloader using HTC Dev method and install recovery to root. But i am a bit confused about S-Off. I have read that S-off will not work with Hboot 1.57.0000
So my questions are
1. Do i really have to S-off to install custom roms on HTC?
2. If not can i install ROMs for the int. version on my phone ?
3. Does the CID ver/number have anything to do with unlocking and rooting?
Thanks in advance.
1 No
2 Yes
3 No
If any time after install custom Rom you need revert back to Stock Rom for Warranty purposes you need S Off
You can s off with 1.57 if you need to. If Firewater doesn't work sunshine will but it'll cost u $25

Thank you for the reply. I have successfully rooted my stock rom and installed CWM recovery. And i have flashed custom kernel too.
I would now like to flash a 4.4.3 sense custom rom. I have read on some threads that the kernel wont be flashed on S-on devices. So do i have to flash a custom rom always after flashing a custom rom?
And one more thing. I currently have CWM touch recovery. I have seen lot of roms require TWRP. So my question is does the recovery image depend on the HTC variant? I have a Tmobile M7UL

Correct your Q
you don't need always flash custom kernel See requirement of kernel for custom ROM at their post
custom kernel don't need S Off ( it can be flashed with S On and it HELPS GETTING S Off)
S On wont let you flash Lower firmware or kernel then present now. see bootloader screen for that

yes You can flash any firmware same or higher version
TWRP 2.7.1.1 I not tried till but 2.6.3.3/4 is perfect
If only you could root your phone without having to unlock your bootloader so that you could know whether you can S-OFF or not.

[Q] To RUU or not to RUU

I have a Sprint HTC One M7 that has been flashed to Pageplus Cellular. I have flashed multiple custom ROMS (Bad Boyz 4.3 sense 5 , Ecliptic 4.4.3, Bad Boyz Sense 6 4.4.3, and currently Eragon V54 which is also 4.4.3) They all have instructions on requiring a certain firmware level, but I have been afraid that updating the firmware might ruin my flash.
The ROMS all seem to run fine and I don't understand what I may be missing by not updating the firmware level.
Also, when I recevied the phone, it had a custom ROM installed so I have no idea what the last firmware update was. The phone is s-Off and has Hboot 55

you dont have to RUU to flash a firmware. Use the modified firmware meant for S-OFF people
OK Thanks for that, but my main question is do I really need to upgrade the firmware as a prereq to to flashing new custom ROMs. The ROMs I flashed all seem to wok well with updating the firmware.

I think the only thing it will affect is your calling experience where one of the callers can't hear each other so best bet is if your calls are working and everything feels fine then u should be OK.
Thanks

[Help]Strange bug with sim card

I have a unlocked S off m7vzw. I downgraded to KitKat a while back from lollipop, now i got bored and want to get back to lollipop.
I updated my firmware with the combo provided by Santod, 6.22.605.6 with hboot 1.61, everything's fine. i flashed InsertCoin (the unofficial one, updated by Ser35) but my phone can not detect my sim card, which never happenned before. I assumed that the latest version has issue, so i flash santod's GPE+ instead, my sim card still not detected. i tried one more time with Dirty Unicorn, my sim card is detected now @@ but honestly i prefer sense or GPE roms for stablity and battery.
P/s: my phone would self-reboot after like 5 or 10 minutes when i flash InsertCoin. i always clean flash when flashing rom. also i tried to take the sim card out then put it back in but no use.
update : it seems that i lost my imei and baseband (it does not show in phone info), should I re-flash the firmware? @alray help me out pls. but why the hell dirty unicorn does not have this issue

Are all these roms compatible with the Verizon variant (if its not specified in the rom thread then no)? Make sure you are flashing roms that are for sure compatible with your phone, most rom here are for the M7UL (there a few compatible with the VZW).

those are the same files i saved before, and they worked. Only after i update my firmware to lollipop 6.22.605.6 this problem happen. i updated from 5.28.605.2 firmware to 6.22.605.6 so there shouldnt any problem with hboot as well as baseband and imei. And yes the roms are compatible
Tried flashing a RUU.zip, problem persist
It seems like only sense and GPE roms has this problem. i flashed several Cm/AOSP based rom and all work fine
Somehow i fixed my issue by flashing this ruu http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358539272 in case any one having the same problem as mine

Have att m7 need some help

I'm a veteran with Android. I know adb and fastboot. But I came from a moto RAZR maxx HD. I'm on kk 4.4.2 I havent yet unlocked or s-offed BUT I have all the files on my device. Do I download the latest ota after I unlock and s-off and flash it? Then twrp and Roms or are their more steps? And I want to use the CDMA radio to what do I need to do. I never use stock Roms always custom.
I'm not really understanding the question too well, but here's what I can tell you:
I think you should be able to install OTAs after you Unlock/S-OFF, but not after you install a custom recovery or custom ROM
You should be able to use cellular on most ROMS, but make sure it supports Sprint/Verizon or whatever you use
Sorry if this doesn't help :silly:
Thanks that helps some. This may be a stupid question but do I have to be on the 5.0.2 bootloader to flash the latest roms

If you phone is still locked and untouched then leave it like that. Update it before doing any modification. Unlocking the bootloader will wipe /data including /data/preload which is a folder containing some stock HTC apps. These apps are updated during an OTA and if they are missing, the ota installation will fail. You don't need s-off to flash custom roms, only an unlocked bootloader.
And I want to use the CDMA radio to what do I need to do.

What is your phone variant? Can you post a "fastboot getvar all"? If its a GSM (M7_U or M7_UL) then you can't use CDMA.
Your phone must be running a 7.xx.xxx.xx firmware to flash custom roms based on Lollipop/HTC Sense. CM based roms should run fine even if your firmware is up to date.
I had to move on to a Verizon note 3, but thank you for the help guys. Best of luck to you guys
