[Q] HELP! I bricked my Samsung Galaxy Gear 1. "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue"
Hello! I have tried everything i can think of. It is a US Galaxy Gear. was flashing Tizen using Odin and it failed and now cannot power up. I cannot get into download or recovery mode. the only screen it will show is "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
Kies does not recognize it. Odin does see it, and i tried flashing SEVERAL Stock ROMS for the V700, all of which fail. I cannot seem to find a US ROM, so i am using one for England. that fails as well.
I am at wits end, any ideas? I also tried different USB cables, reinstalled the latest Samsung drivers, tested those with a working watch, even another cradle (my brother has an identical gear 1). also swapped to different USB ports
i have checked all of the other threads, and tried the options there...
thanks for any help!

Where you say Odin doesn't recognize it, not sure there but try another USB port or computer, you can flash recovery from that screen then boot directly into it.
Been a while since I played with my gear so memory isn't fresh but don't think you are bricked. Here's a link to my copy folder, don't know the steps you took but ne9 to nf1 will put you on tizen, was the latest version but I think a newer one has come out since. You can't go from android to nf1 directly as it's not a complete ROM, only an upgrade iirc.
Here's my copy folder for the gear, different then the first link as it also includes ROMs to go back to android, which to me it sounds like you are stuck in the middle between android and tizen somewhere.
I saw I had a update for my phone so I went though kies like normal and let it do its thing. The update downloaded but it didn't complete the update and now my phone is pretty much stuck in recovery mode with no options to do a factory reset and saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again." I have tried this multiple times and with multiple cables including the one that came with the phone and pretty much a no go there. After those failed attempts I downloaded the current version from Sam Mobile and am trying to flash it with odin which is currently not going anywhere just sitting at system.img.ext4 and not progressing I have tried multiple versions of odin and it just keeps getting stuck at that point. Is there a way I can get my phone working again or am I screwed?
Check out this thread. It's an alternative to Odin. Thread if for S6 but this should work on the Note 4. I have not tried this

You shouldn't use kies use smartswitch.
Note 4 and S6 are setup for smartswitch.
Pp.
I tried to flash tizen rom. First i install custom recovery and when i tried to flash tizen from odin, odin got stuck. I wait about 15 minutes but nothing gets better so i unplug my gear and tried to restart but it gives error:-
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.
I tried Samsung Kies but it is not detecting my device. I tried to get into downloading or recovery mode but they are not working. Please help me.
Gear model is SM-V700.
Thank you.
Try to start with download mode and flash any stoked rom
OK guys, let me explain my problem in shortest possible form;
Few days ago I bought N7000 with a "software issue"- as seller described his item, and I supposed that it would be easy to fix this kind of problem, because I never had any problem repairing soft bricked phones, but this one driving me crazy. I read all about N7000 brick states, and closest what I found related to my phone is "superbrick", because I can't enter recovery mode, the only mode it enters is Download Mode.
Let me give you some more info about the phone's status before any ODIN flash I tried:
-Seller told me that phone didn't finnish update (thats all he said, and that was OTA update);
-when I received phone, when I tured it on, it was stuck at "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." (then I said to myself "this is goidg to be easy....")
-I could enter download mode, and when it is in downlad mode it says that no custom binary is installed (custom binary counter:0, so I suppose there wasn't custom ROMs or kernels installed)
Then I tried to flash stock ROM, but failed. Odin always stuck when it have to write (write operation failed), and that is happening on every rom I've tried (it fails writing "data.img", it fails writing zImage, also stuck at "NAND write start"). I have tried almost any Odin version available, changing USB ports, USB cable (I have original SAMSUNG cable also), but nothing worked.
Then I read here on some threads that is possible to solve this problem with flashing custom .pit file, and I decided to give a try, and it stuck at "Do not turn off target!", and later it says "FAILED" in red rectangle, and then Odin disconnects my phone by itself (I never disconnect phone during flash, unless Odin is stuck for a unusally long time(which is the case with my phone)).
The ONLY thing I have managed to flash to my phone is "Q1_CHN_bridge_bootloader.tar", chinese version of bootloader (whit full success, Odin passed "start NAND write"), so I tought it will chinese firmware version (i9220)., but I was wrong, it get stuck at usual. (when bootloader was flashed, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." message disappeared, and it showed yellow triangle with SAMSUNG NOTE N7000 logo instead).
Before I tried .pit flashing, I tried to flash custom kernel with custom recovery (GB, ICS and JB kernel version), but that also didn't work (custom binary changing when trying to flash kernel).
So, to conclude:
-Note N7000 enters download mode
-I can't flash anything (.pit, kernel with (custom) recovery, N7000 bootloader) except "Q1_CHN_bridge_bootloader.tar", chinese (i9220) version bootloader (That leads me to conclusion that Odin still can write something to phone)
I would like to ask you guys if you have any suggestion or advice what should I try to revive my phone. Any help is more than welcome!
Thanks for reading such a long post! Cheers
I had my phone turn off, and when I turned it back on I got the FRP lock message.
So I tried factory resetting it, still wouldn't boot.
I grabbed a firmware from firmwarehome<dot>com and tried to flash it after doing the Volume down+home+power to get into odin.
After hitting start with Odin it fails and I get a "SW REV, CHECK FAIL, DEVICE: 4, BINARY: 3" message.
I've tried downloading what they say is a stock firmware from sammobile, but after registering, selecting the free subscription and clicking download, it just tries to get me to sign up for a subscription and won't let me download it.
Is there somewhere else I can get the stock samsung firmware for this thing so I can get it back up and running? Or is there something else I can try?
I think I have experienced such a situation. I facing the problem like you such before because I unchecked the OEM unlocking under the developer setting. After that I restart/off the device then facing error FRP message. So I just reflashing the firmware using odin ver 10 for sm n9208 samsung note 5 odin.after done it solved.
what android version that you using?is device rooted?
ref:Marshmellow android using twrp custom recovery and kernal........before this time i'm using..
