Hi guys,
I picked up a brand new Skoda Superb (which features VW Connectivity stuff) and Android Auto/CarPlay/Mirrorlink should be supported.
When I connect my LG G3 it gets recognized as an Android Auto supported device but after a while establishing a connection I get a message like "Device not supported etc".
I'm based in Austria, where the Android Auto app is not available in the Play Store (I downloaded the APK somewhere).
Is there a Google product forum to report or ask about this? Some fellow Austrians who tried this as well? Is there some official word from Google addressing country availability?
Thanks!
You are more likely having device problems than country problems.
Just make sure you have the latest Android Auto app installed, as well as the Google app, Music, Maps, Now and Text To Speech.
This worked for me before AA was officially supported in Canada. Once I had a problem because the AA app was older, but Play refused to update it. I had to manually update outside of Play.
Can you give me a source where to find the newest version of Android Auto? Or the version number of the most recent version?
I have used the newest version from apkmirror Android Auto 1.1.075280 (1990467-release) which should be the newest available. All my Google apps seem to be updated (at least Play Store on my phone tells me so).
Country availability of Android Auto - Netherlands
I have a similar problem in the Netherlands.
I picked up my Seat Leon FR Connect yesterday and have been fighting a couple of hours with Android Auto.

Android Auto is currently available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

I found and installed the last Android Car apk from here;
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-075280-1990467-release-android-apk-download/
I used FakeGPS to change my location to either Germany or USA
I used VyprVPN to change my IP corresponding the selection above ( on cell service )
I cleaned Playstore cache
Connected the phone and started the wizard on the radio and the magic happens,
App opens on phone and tells me to download some stuff from the playstore. (indicating headunit, cable, phone, APK are fine)
After that is fails downloading the files from the market so it seems im stuck at google region detection.
Next thing I have to try is do the same in WIFI as I've read that VPN spoof might not work network.
any help or suggestion is highly appreciated

FakeGPS and PlayStore cache. I forgot those. I have created a German Google Account on my G3. I'll try it right now with all the stuff you mentioned.
Do you expect it to work once you have initiated it once?

Maaaan I'm so jealous. I tried it the exact same way with two different phones. I even drove to freaking Germany (I'm living at the German/Austrian border)!
The phone shows up in the list (it's exactly the same in my Skoda like in your Seat), I click it, then the app gets started on the phone very briefly. After some seconds the car stops connecting and I get the error message.
How do you clean the PlayStore cache? Am I forgetting something? Is the WiFi you're connecting over on a dutch IP?

So Google tightened the screws.
Let's hope they don't read these posts and fix it later.
I think Google doesn't even have to update the APK to change their bad country detection; another downside of constant connections...

does it go wrong somewhere in between ?
android version 5.+ ? (I'm on stock non root N5 5.1.1)
100% sure you have no cell network connection? (google takes location from cell network)
100% sure fake location is working (checked with google app?)
100% sure you are on USA ip adres ?
tryed to clear both DATA & CACHE for Google Play Store ? (based on other location tricks cleaning cache should do but better safe than sorry)
everything conform screenshots ?
(Mid september I'm in AT Wagrain again, came back home from Wagrain last Friday and picked up car on Saturday )
I think the only way for my phone to find out my real location is through the WiFi connection from my home which I'm using. But it worked for you with the regular dutch WiFi, right?
Jep from regular Dutch wifi
have you tryed http://www.whatsmyip.org to check your real ip after activating the VPN ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Tried it again on a different WiFi at my friends place. I followed all your steps (100% sure). Maps and whatsmyip.org are showing me fake locations, Google Now immediately shows me weather forecasts for NYC etc.
No luck =(

Weird, maby your skoda head unit has slidley diffent software compared to the Seat version.
But there is good news, Android auto should be released anny time soon if everthing goes well.
My dealer told me it was supposed to be released (in the netherlands) on 1-7-2015 reschedule to 1-8-2015 sow lets hope for 1-9-2015
I will try my Nvidia shieldTab (5.1.1) to figure out that it works to.
Seems your Seat dealer is pretty well informed! Hope he's right
And voila working on ShieldTab
Dealer had a official leaflet from Seat including aproofed apps working with AA.

Still not working here, but something interesting happened. I installed the newest version of the AA app on my LG G3 via apkmirror. Now when I start the app, it shows me a screen saying "This device is not compatible with Android Auto".
I heard several people stating, that AA works on the G3. Whats going on?

Hello everybody on xda first post and it's a problem.
I've recently acquired a Samguns Galaxy S i9000B. First day trying it, everything went perfect, internet conection stable and without problems, everything else good too.
Today I encountered problems with the internet. I can no longar enter the store in my cellphone (Play store), in the internet browser (which is a default by movistar) I can only search for results in google, trying to connect to any other page returns the message "Couldn't connect to the server", whatsapp functions correctly oddly enough.
I have always been connected to the internet thorugh wi fi, which is broadcasted from my modem through a D-Link Dir 320 router, and I don't posses a multimedia plan, i.e. if I don't have access to Wi Fi I don't have acces to internet on my phone.
Lastly i must mention that I had a similar problem on my laptop, and it was solved by changing the MTU value on it.
I've tried the solutions on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790974, however, I can't do what is proposed in the first post due to the fact that My cellphone doesnt have the folder pdp0 and, it doesnt recognize the commands ip link, ip link list or ip link set. I've yet to install Busybox, however if I input ip, a list of possible commands appears, being one of them link, but it doesn't work for me.
All other solutions have been tried, such as restarting cell phone, router, pc, etc. And turning off and on wi fi save energy, etc.
Thanks for your help before hand.

1) Try to toggle Airplane mode and restart phone after a battery Pull and power button press for a min
2) Try Menu>Settings>Application>Manage Applications
Press the Menu button, then Filter, then select Running
Scroll down the list and select Device management.
Under the Storage section, press the Clear data button.
Reboot phone
3) In recovery clear data, cache and dalvik cache
4) a factory reset using settings> privacy will be the final way to solve it (only do this when you have undone any lagfix you may have done FIRST)
If this did not do it, you have no option but to flash an I9000B Rom to resolve it

Thank you for your response.
I would actually like to try some stuff with the router, as it seems this is the root of the problem. A friend of mine came with a smartphone that can "lend" internet (not sure this is the right term). After connecting to the internet his phone was lending me i could enter the google play store, load wikipedia and other pages. So it seems to be the way i'm broadcasting my wi-fi.
Having said that, I'm not sure how to begin because if wi-fi works fine for the laptop, why would it run incorrectly for my Galaxy S? I'm not sure how to modify the router to provoke an imrpovement in the conecction.
Help please? Anyone has any ideas?

google your router brand name, and they will have instructions as to how you can reset your router as well as go into its setup menu by using your web browser
Well.. suprisingly now internet works.... However it was sort of magical.
I applied a factory reset to the router (the options are now similar to the ones I had before), and the internet on my phone had the same problems through all the afternoon... Now, 5 hours later... for no apparent reason (no modifications made)... everything is working fine. I ain't one to argue with a good thing... but I'm seriously in awe wondering how the hell it worked itself out without me doing anything.
Thanks for the help by the way.
If it helps anyone else, I did make one change, however i don't see how it influenced anything. I uninstalled all updates to the google play store (reverted it back to android market) as well as erased it's data and cache.
I have a Razr i on Orange UK, and have found that apps that use the network/cell location (instead of Wifi or GPS) don't work. I've tested this with various apps, but the problem can be seen with Google Maps:
- Disable GPS and Wifi in settings
- Tap location crosshairs and wait
- A 'waiting for location' message will appear, followed a few seconds later by 'your current location is temporarily unavailable'
I'm not sure if this is an issue with my provider (Orange) or with the phone itself. Can anyone else reproduce this issue?
I have the same issue here in Brazil with my provider (Claro).
My other 2 phones can find the location using the network, with a precision of about 1km, but RAZR i doesn't even "try" to find it. I receive the same message as you using Maps. One of that other 2 phones is a Motorola Spice XT300 (using Android 2.1 at the same provider), so this issue may be especific for this device or for the newest versions of Android.
I would like to use the location based on the network to activate wifi and other tasks with the SmartActions (without GPS, wifi and bluetooth to save battery), if somebody knows a way to make this work, I would be very thankful too.
I can try this later today on my father's Galaxy SII (using ICS too), and will post here the result if anyone doesn't post it before me.
EDIT: I tested it again, and it works! Maps could find my location with a good precision (better than 100m) only using the 3G network. By the way, the SII can do this too. I don't know why it works now, but maybe with a 2G network the device can't find the location.
I found a fix for a similar sounding issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9576852&postcount=108 However that fix requires root access which I'm not currently willing to try on my new Razr i.
After reading that link, I did manage to fix it for now by going to Settings > Apps > All > Google Services Framework and pressing the Clear Data button. I was prompted again to enabled Location Services. I then rebooted my phone. After a reboot the Play Store didn't work at first, but it sorted itself out after a few minutes.
I'll say that this is fixed 'for now'... some other threads discussing similar problems show that such fixes sometimes stop working after a period of time.
Ok ladies and gentlemen I am in need of some assistance.
Today I received a previously used Galaxy Note 3 from someone on Swappa.
The device functions perfectly in just about every way and I love how zippy it is compared to the original Note that I just got out of.
The main problem I am encountering right now is the message telling me that the phone could not establish a connection to the server.
While I see that there are other forum posts that address this issue, I would rather talk to other Note 3 owners about this matter and what steps I should take to remedy it.
I've been reading that a root method may be the best way to go, I just need to be pointed in the right direction and instructed properly.
Hope to hear from you all very soon, cheers!

Try Another Data Connection
Attempt to connect to a different network and see if that clears up the problem. For example, if you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, try connecting to the mobile network instead and vice verse. Some users have reported fixing this problem by simply resetting their wireless router.
Check Date & Time
The date and time must be accurate for things to work. Wait for your wireless carrier to update the time automatically, or set it manually under “Settings” > “Date & time“.
Reset Google Apps
Sometimes, simply clearing Google Apps resets things just right.
Go to “Settings” > “Applications” > “Manage applications” > “Google Apps“, then tap the “Clear data” button.
Go to the Home screen.
Select “Settings” > “Data synchronization” > “Google“.
Enter your Google credentials.
if all above go not help try to re flash stock firmware .

This may be a dumb question but have you tried restarting / turning the phone on and off yet?
Also sometimes installing a System Update via OTA can fix this problem. (You can redownload the current system software version that is on your phone and just update it on top of the existing system software without losing data).

I have exactly the same problem - "If I try to enable bluetooth or Wifi it refuses to switch on ". Only wifi and bluetooth. Any ideas what should help?
What fw version do you have this effect?
I am on B378 which I got OTA.
When I go to settings, bluetooth and i disable bluetooth there, the switch turns gray and I cannot enable it anymore. luckyly, enabeling BT still works when I do it from the drop down menu.
I have a worse bug with settings, more, mobile network
it worked after the update, but after sometimes enable/disable data roaming, the screen closed by itself and now it is not possible to enter this submenu anymore. when i tap on "mobile network" it briefly shows "no service" in the top left corner but the menu does not open. if I tap mobile network again, the whole settings menu will close.
any idea?
Yes, also B378 and OTA.
And in "About phone" > "Status" > "Bluetooth address" is Unavailable.

I tried installing cm13, after even that failed to fix the problem, I noticed that the mac address I got when using cm13 was the one you normally get before wifi is initialized (I believe it's 00.20.00.00.00 or something)
From my experience from reading the posts on the cm13 port for my old htc one mini 2, these told me that the operating system wasn't seeing the wifi hardware in the phone...
So after relocking the bootloader and flashing the stock rom (still didn't fix anything) it seems that it may be a hardware failure...

PDAnet is able to directly share internet over USB, but it seems limited in what it can do. I can hardly connect to any game servers, steam's download speeds are slow (Figured it may be some Steam port issue but I also have problems with Origin so I'm unsure), and I can't directly connect to other peoples lobbies. I'm using Ver 5.10.5 of Pdanet (and have paid version) and am wondering if anyone knows a possible solution. I tested connection with built in USB tethering and I was able to connect, but I'd rather not blow through the limit for the built in option
I would second this. When I upgraded to the s9 plus everything got slow.... Any solutions?

So far I haven't had any success. With limited testing the hotspot would sometimes be faster for downloading games on Steam, but it's not too reliable for in-game
I got this from the company:
> 1. Uninstall PdaNet+ from your phone
> 2. Open the we browser on the phone and go to http://pdanet.co/install
> tap on the link to the apk file to download and install it.
> 3. Open PdaNet on the phone and tap the "3 dot" menu icon, select "IPv6
> support" from the menu, then select "IPv6 prioritized".
> 4. Enable USB mode and connect PdaNet.
Thank you, I'll try this as soon as I get the chance and report back
Ended up getting faster download speeds when using IPv6, though still had trouble connecting to servers. Think I figured out the problem when playing Torchlight II and it brought up I had a strict NAT. Not sure how to change it for mobile tethering but I'll keep looking
