Best place to buy a legit battery for the XT1052? - Moto X Q&A

Hi.
I like this phone. I have just bought one second hand and I think its a definite keeper. I think I will keep it for years and years haha
So I would like to buy a battery for the future. Now I am unsure how old the handset I bought is, so it could possibly have a 2 year old battery in it. They battery life seems ok but it may quickly deteriorate in the future.
Does anyone know of any legit places for batteries?
Cheers.

EBay.

ebay is safe just make sure it states in listing oem, new and EX34, thoroughly test upon reviving and if item is not as described initiate a return and your only out time and effort

I've seen some on eBay. All from the States. They are very cheap at about 5 UK pounds after conversion + postage costs. The cheapness got me worrying about them bring fake.
Oh I don't want to try the battery out. I will buy one and put it in the draw. I do not want to crack this phone open for fun; only if it's truly necessary. I saw the ifixit video for battery replacement and it looks a PITA. Just way too much adhesive going on. So the battery has to be legit ideally.

Possible free 1500mah HTC brand battery for Incredible

I found out something interesting that I figured I'd share with the rest of the users here. The battery that is shipped with the HTC Ozone from Verizon is a 1500mah HTC branded battery. The HTC ozone can be purchased for FREE online with the new phone discount, plus free shipping. If you have a line with an upgrade discount available and want to sacrifice it for a free spare battery for your Incredible (also works for Eris) this is a good way to do it.
I've only had my Incredible for a day so I'm not sure exactly how much more battery life you'll get with the 1500, but even if it's not much more you can keep it around as a backup when the other dies.
Why would you want to pay at a minimum 240 dollars over 2 years just to get a battery and waste an upgrade on a terrible phone.
That's why you'd be "sacrificing" an upgrade. If you have a line due for an upgrade but you don't want to upgrade, you can use it to get the phone for free, giving you an additional battery. You don't actually have to use the phone, and you could probably even sell it on ebay without the battery for a few bucks.
this is by far the worst idea I have ever, ever heard. You want to waste an upgrade to get a 1500mah battery that you can buy 2 for $5 on ebay? Ya know, instead of buying a $600 phone for $200 and reselling it? What the HELL?

doesn't make sense.
It's just so much simpler to call Verizon and complain about your battery life to get a second battery sent your way...

Anyways, I think if someone wants to forfeit an upgrade for a battery, then so be it. What if a person who works for HTC gets a free or heavily discounted phone from their employer and chooses to use a Verizon upgrade for the same purpose the OP explained? Would the arrogant jerks attack them? Who cares about 2yr contracts? I've been a Verizon customer since I got my first phone. Not sure why people are so scared of contracts.

damn, they are probably reading forums and saw the demand is pretty high
anybody wants to split an order?
actually I tried to place an order, it says minimum of 2 orders for 2 covers. so that's 4 ($57.98)
I saw... that's pricey. They are crazy!!!!!!!
Ill split an order.
Out of stock again. I want a white one.

Are they serious? $30 for ONE back and you must order 3???
In a few months these backs will be all over eBay for $12-$15
Lets hope. Im in no rush.

Nobody should purchase from these guys.... a case runs for 30 get that....as time goes by, you can purchase a back cover for 15bucks in the future.
damn, I just purchased 2 yesterday night even though it was overpriced..surprised they jumped to minimum of 3 that fast. Maybe I'll sell my extra case once it arrives.

This company always jumps.
When people were getting FFC's for the vibrant, they had it at like $17 and min 1. Then they made it $17 min 2, then min 3, and they eventually got up to like min 10 or something. Then they came back to min 3
anyone have a spare
Nexus S battery door cover, i need one.
Send me a PM.
btw, this phone is sick. much better than the vibrant/captivate/i9000.
im just sad there's no microSD slot.
i want a white case
I wouldn't bother with this company, just wait. Nexus S is about to launch on numerous other carriers so it should be far cheaper to get an OEM backdoor in the future.
Anyone has one for sale?
so I got this reply from them:
Attention Customers,
Recently you placed an order for "SMSNG6098530-OEM Samsung Nexus S GT-19020T Battery Door". There are two Battery Door Versions that exist for this item. One is an NFC Contact Enabled Unit, while the other is a standard Battery Door. If you purchased this with the intention of using the NFC Functions, the version we sell is not the NFC Unit, but the standard Battery Door. We will not fulfill your order and will grant a refund if you require the NFC Version of the Battery Door, but we require you reply to this email (at [email protected]) with your order number and refund request, all refunds will then be processed within 5-7 business days. Furthermore, if the standard battery door is acceptable please reply to this email and request that we process your order as is.
so our OEM battery cover is NFC enabled? Should I go ahead and order the standard battery cover?

Depends, do you want to use NFC? If you don't then get the standard (should be cheap), if you do, don't get it, since they don't have it.
I got the the same e-mail from globaldirectparts.com I told them to forget about the order and that I would be warning all of you not to work with these people. I am not going to pay $30 for a door that is not OEM (regardless of what they say).
First they raised the price by $15 dollars to $30.
then
They raised the minimum order from 2 doors to 3 doors.
then
They try to bait and switch the product for a sub-standard door AT THE SAME PRICE.
I got a voice-mail from Robert at globaldirectparts.com expressing his regret for the "misleading listing" and called the situation he put his customers in as a "potential mistake." He could not even call globaldirectparts.com actions for what they were a FLAT OUT MISTAKE. He went on to say "I hope you don't bad mouth us." I do not think letting people know exactly what happened and letting the facts fall is bad mouthing. If the plain facts makes globaldirectparts.com look bad then you should change your business practices. Why put an item for sale and say is in stock if you don't have it? Is it, like I have stated, globaldirectparts.com's way of bait and switching its customers?
I for one will not be shopping with globaldirectparts.com again and urge you all to keep my account in mind if you see yourself in need of parts. There are plenty of other places you can get parts such as ebay.com or cnn.cn. You wont be getting any less service than what you find at globaldirectparts.com.
I wouldn't buy.... no NFC for 30 bucks.... they are crazy!!!

Sellers tend to have good rating for the quality of their service, not necessarily for the quality of their products.
$13 isn't bad though.. you should have maybe at least 6500mah combined from those three batteries.

I have a suspicion some of the sellers on Amazon get their shady rating count as well. It takes a second to create merchant account on Amazon and list anything already sold in there under the original manufacturer listing. Since I talk to a lot of accessories companies, a number of them complain about people selling fake ones under the same listing (very common with Spigen, UAG, Samsung batteries/headphones/chargers, and others). So you have to be very careful who is the actual seller of the product when you click to buy it. I notice some sell fake stuff, it's clearly listed as seller from China, and they got 100k feedback rating?!?
Personally, I try to look for those who sell with Prime option since it's covered by Amazon and often an OEM part they have in their warehouse.

Ebay can be pretty good if you know how to check feedback. Almost everything I buy is from there (laptop, phone, fresh fruits).
Yes let us know how good they are. I have a $6 glass screen protector coming in a few weeks that I'll post pictures too of so people can compare to the $30 brand name ones. I love comparing generic chinese sold products to the brand name ones. In many cases they are very similar expect one has a fancy badge and price tag
I also got a micro USB to HDMI adapter last night for my Note 2, and one of those 3 in 1 lens kits for it. The lens kit was only $7 with free shipping. I watched several Youtube vids regarding it, and for that price you can recod some pretty amazing footage.

With wall charger you get ~1600mA which charges device in about 2.5hrs . The output of the one u bought is 1/4th (400 max) of the external charger so it would take 4x times longer than it would have taken with the wall charger(10 hours ) .
i dont know much about electrical stuff . I hope am wrong cuz i have already bought a spare battery and thinking of buying the samsung external charger but 50$ is way too much. Im getting it at 39.9$ but stilll too much

8500mAh Battery for $28

Dear XDA Members,
Okay I want to buy this product, and I can't find reviews about it as opposed to the famous ZeroLemon Battery Extension.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8500mAh-Extended-Battery-Back-Case-Cover-For-Samsung-N7100-Galaxy-Note-II-2-/181102485781?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item2a2a8ca115&_uhb=1
What's the issue with these? Why are they not popular? I get this with free delivery as opposed to ZeroLemon which adds up to about $65 for an extra 800mAh (I don't think that's worth it considering I won't be getting that till December according to Amazon and their shipping). I live in Australia.
Have a look at it, let me know what you think please.

General rule of thumb: If anyone is claiming to squeeze a billion mAh into a standard or only slightly larger battery, it's a ripoff.
The battery isn't popular because it doesn't live up to it's claimed rating.
Even posting a link to it, some poor sap is going to buy it, give it a shot, and get ripped off for 28 hard earned dollars better spent on chewing gum or popcorn.
There are one or two other posters that have posted links to the same battery, and they all have few posts like this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494002
Then there's this battery which suspiciously looks just like that one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465295
Just a few samples pulled from the first 3 pages here. Stick with the reliable products. Might be more expensive, but they sure work well.
Thanks for the information... So the people getting them claim they see a difference, while others are denouncing their posts without trying them. I have no doubt the ZeroLemon one will last longer (it just seems like a much more solid product, its size alone is basically three times that of the original), I went through with it on amazon all the way until the final checkpoint and realized i'm paying $20 for delivery and it will take about a month at least before I receive it...
I'm sure this product claiming to be an 8500mAh battery isn't really 8500mAh... If people are getting a 4500mAh battery they would assume it's lasting twice longer when it's actually giving them a few extra hours of use, and it will probably degrade worse than the samsung one over time.
I wish I can find stock for the ZeroLemon one here in Australia but sadly I can't find any, so I might have to get this one and give it a review myself. It does look like it's double the thickness of the original, so hopefully it's double the life (at least for the first few months before it degrades and melts on my phone and burns it) lol
listen to apallohadas because he's absolutely correct here. vectron has also done tests with proper battery testing measures that show such batteries are rip offs as well. that's the one thing to note about chinese/foreign electronics...they can be rebranded far too easily because majority of the time it's the same company behind its production.

Okay I'll take both of your words for it and not purchase this product.. I'll wait for the cover to come out for ZeroLemon (should be soon from what I've been reading) and might get that with the Rugged Cover.

I purchased a new neo from best buy for $129 for Christmas. It was a lemon the back was broke on it and it did not hold a charge. I did not notice the back was broken until I mistakenly took a shower with it and fried it.
I just bought a refurbished neo for $129 and I cannot believe the battery life on this one. It seems so much better than the other that was supposedly new but that look like the box was opened I checked at 12 p.m. 100% charge its now 4:42 and I'm at 93%
The previous neo couldn't even go 24 hours without charging I don't know what possessed me to do this again but the new one? I'm happy with so far.

I've noticed in when buying used equipment, That Battery life is not to be expected high if Battery charge cycles are many?
The Neo 2 has on board battery conditioning management in which if you don't charge it and off? so shouldn't affect battery quality.
You can even leave it on the charger for weeks without haveing to worry about overcharging, as it tops off when needed.
Some devices don't have a smart management of their batteries.
Pity, as all of them, should be considering most people don't know the
technical aspects in care for devices battery.
I think there is a way in reading the Neo's 2 battery cycles or quality before purchasing? The seller could take a picture to verify?
or take a lower price before buying?
But given you purchased it new? or maybe was a return as I've experienced that very thing with Best Buy with a Chromebook in which was already activated keeping me from getting Google Drive added memory for two years. I returned it for a 'New' one in which I setup at Best Buy to confirm this time it was truly new...

Your right, it was probably not new. I should have taken back right away as the seal looked like it was carefully pried open and re-closed.
The clerk however told me it was the last one and I had wanted for so long and it was the same price as the refurbished...and I can't resist a sale.
So, you sound like you know how I should care for my neo battery. Should I top off if I'm going away or take charger with me and wait till its low, low, low %
