Hello everyone! I was recording my girlfriend graduating from college today and I couldnt find any solid auto focus lock. I know on the iphone and other phones you can press and hold but I saw no option as such on the z3 compact. Was wondering if there was something I was missing or if there was a button I was not pressing that would make this so. Thanks.

Hi,
I do a lot of biking on trails on weekend. To record the trip and trails, I use my Tilt video capability. Only problem is, I have to have the screen on to record and this kills the battery. Is there a way to record videos on the tilt with the screen off?
Thanks
Any idea guys?
Hi anyone know how to do this?
Can someone make a patch for this?
U can use freeware like Screen Switch, it turns of the display only. Google for it.
Can anyone help with this. I thought I was doing something wrong but have now tried everything I can and still I am getting poor pictures from the camera. I have all settings set to highest quality and anti-shake on (have also tried it off). Press hold shutter, hear beep and release. The results are always what I would call poor. See the picture below. On these settings I would think I could read the titles of the books on the shelves but even the books themselves look grainy.
Is there a fix for this?

I usually tap the screen on the area I want in focus and when it turns green tap the shutter key. I tend not to use the anti-shake. Maybe check to make sure your lens is clean?
Here is a picture I took with the camera
Perhaps I am just expecting too much of a 5mp cam.
I've been on vacation with my new s4 and I've noticed that half of my photos were at 1280x720 resolution on the main cam.
I've noticed it switched when I've accidentally switched to 2mp cam and switched back the resolution never came back to 8M.
Is there anything i can do on the camera app to make it remember proper resolution?
ps. Is there any way to silece the camera "shutter" sound?
I can't replicate your problem with resolution. Either I'm not following same route or it was fixed in MF5 that I'm running.
You can silence shutter sound by turning ringtown volume all the way down (off).

I't doesnt allways happen ill try to find proper steps to replicate this behaviour. As for volume it works as a zoom button and turning volume down prior to launching camera app does not elimitnate shutter of focus sounds .

Edit-note: It's only for ROOTed phones but...

There might be a solution for shutter sound. :fingers-crossed:Try installing Note 2 (sic) Hidden Settings (it works on my S4 Active i9295). There are many useful settings. One of them is "Add shutter sound menu" which adds item to settings menu in camera to turn it on an off. And there is also "CAMERA SHUTTER SOUND" which directly turns sound on and off.
Dear fellow forum users/Z1 owners,
I'm a new user of a Sony Xperia Z1. I've been using my phone for about a week now to take photos, and I've noticed that there is a problem with the camera display. When I move my phone to take a photo of another subject, the display actually lags behind and sometimes freezes for a second before finally catching up with my movements. Do any of you face similar issues?
Another question I'd like to ask, would be the vibration/movement of the lens as it refocuses, especially on macro shots. It makes this small "tick" sound and vibrates while attempting to focus, something which I've not experienced on other cameras. Is this natural or is it a hardware issue that I should get Sony to check?
Thanks for taking your time to read this post, and I look forward to hearing your responses.
Cheers,
Sonynoob
I must say - never heard for that problems.
I don't have that issues, my camera is working great, no vibrations, no lag - full HD recording or shooting picts - all works great.

Just tested the camera in a quiet environment and I must say, it seems to produce the 'tick' sound before every shot...it only gets worse in macro situations.
Same goes for me. I think it is a normal thing while camera struggles to focus.

Had this lag too the other night trying to shoot outdoor. I don't know if it was because too much stuff running in background or if it's the camera, only happened once.
Hi there!
I've got an old S4 Active I want to turn into a dashcam.
I've played around with Tasker a bit to make the phone wake up when it gets a charge, open up the camera app but I can't find the setting that turns on the recording...
Is there a special command I can put in Tasker to make it start recording and stop when it loses the charge?
Thanks!
