Hello everyone!
Yesterday was the first time I encountered a problem with my Razr i (bought in 2013). As I unplugged it from the charger (it was at 80%), the gauge changed to 2% and the phone switched off. I booted the device again and it showed 50%. Then after a while it changed to 100% and stuck like that for a couple of hours, only to drop at 15% out of nowhere. I tried charging the device for a couple of hours - nothing changed - the gauge is still going erratic. However I noticed that the phone drops to 1 or 2% battery (and switches off) ONLY when I unplug the cable - when I plug it, it is ok. But when I unplug it (either fast or slow) it either changes the percentage status to a random number, or shows empty battery and shuts down, or gets stuck at 100% (Also does that when I wiggle the cable a bit when it is plugged in). I did a factory reset - it did not help. Removed the SD card, as it sometimes gets buggy - again no results.
The problem probably is the battery, however could it be that the phone's charging slot (microUSB port) is short circuiting? If so, is it possible for the actual port to be fixed or changed?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Edit: thanks to this post, my problem has been solved. Thanks!
So last night I went from stock motorola 2.2 to this wonderful-seeming version of CyanogenMod on my UK milestone - the install went flawlessly, but now I have a problem - my battery is not charging at ALL.
While the phone was on last night after I charged it, it was plugged in, first to my PC and then to the wall socket. In both cases, the battery indicator had a ? (question mark) on it.
I thought it might have been some weirdness with battery calibration so I left it and plugged the phone in from the wall to charge overnight. This morning, my phone was telling me to connect my charger (despite it being plugged in) and on removing the power cable, it died due to no battery power left within 10 minutes.
While plugged in from the wall, the battery indicator comes up but again just contains a ? on it. The little white light next to the power socket never lights up.
If I plug the phone in to my PC via USB then if the handset is OFF, the white light comes on and around 10 mins later it gets enough juice to boot up. The problem is that when the CM7 software starts, the little white light disappears, the phone stops charging despite the cable being present, and it then dies 2 minutes later.
I know the battery is fine because it was perfectly fine before I installed CM7.
Anyone else experienced this problem and/or know how to fix it?
One thing I did manage to do before it died was install a battery calibration app that I found on xda-developers - this told me that the battery was running at 3267 mV - any idea if that's good or bad?
(and yes, I'm using precisely the same cable/charger I was using before I put this version of CM7 on, so I know they are fine - they charge a friend's SGS with no problems)

Try plugging the phone into the wall charger, without the battery. Try and boot it up and let it boot. Once it's booted up, give it a bit and try and put the battery in and leave it to charge.
What happens if you turn off you phone and plug it in a wall charger? If the problem isn't in your battery it will charge fully.
When you phone comes up, try to disable the 1% battery steps in settings. I got a problem with it, and after disabled/enabled it worked fine for me.
Hope this helps.
On plugging it into a wall charger, the phone comes up with its special battery charging screen (i.e. a fullscreen battery level indicator) - no amount of pressing the power button seems to get it to boot properly (with or without the battery).
I'll see if I can get in and get rid of the 1% steps thing later, thanks for the suggestion

Dude, that was PERFECT.
Managed to get enough juice into the thing to get into the menu for a moment and was able to disable the 1% battery steps option - soon as I touch that tickbox, the battery indicator switches from a ? to the charging symbol and the phone starts charging. Thanks a million!
Nop dude, you are welcome
I'm using Darky ROM 10.4.2, My Galaxy S has been in use for almost a year now (i bought it second hand early last year), it has been running great up until this morning. I have always charged my phone while I sleep and everytime i'm next to the computer and have USB cable handy. I more than often charge directly from a computers USB or from a plug socket to USB converter i have (designed for phone charging).
Anyway what happened this morning was I woke up and my phone was really hot, and a message was on the screen saying that the battery is too hot or too cold and that charging has been paused.
I removed the battery and took it off charge and let the phone cool down. After rebooting, the phone seemed to be working fine, however when I tried charging via USB, I noticed that the phone recognizes that its charging (i.e. the charging animation icon comes up), however the percentage does not increase no matter how long i leave it charging (did it for about 30 minutes this morning). I thought this may have been a battery stats problem, so just to be safe I cleared the battery stats in CWM recovery. However the problem seems to remain. Although, I'm not sure whether its charging fully if i switch the phone off instead of booting it, as again it does recognize that its charging, but the battery meter in that case has no % and I can't actually make out whether its increasing or not.
Any ideas on what I need to do? Whether that's to buy a new battery, flash a new ROM, or anything else I could attempt?
(I'm aware a lot of battery problems are reported, but after searching I could not find one that particularly matches whats happening to mine.)
The other day I was in a hospital and my phone was next to the bed but the charger wire was tangled in the bed. So a nurse came up and rolled out the bed and the phone fell from quite high on the (hard) floor.
It still worked, screen wasn't cracked so I didn't think much of it.
But now, the phone can be charged with the charger. As soon as I unplug the charger there are 2 things that can happen:
1. The phone keeps saying it's charging. Other than that the phone is fully functional. Battery drain is much higher though, in 10 minutes I lose 7% battery.
2. The charging icon in the battery will flash on and off. When I switch off the screen, the lock-screen immediatly turns on and the text charging blinks, it's like someone is plugging in the charger and takes it out immediatly, battery drain is even higher when this occurs, I lose 50% within the hour, depending of what I'm doing.
Sometimes the problem is not there, the phone will function normally, but the problem will come back within 1 or 2 hours and usually when I plug in a charger and take it out later. Also, sometimes it seems the phone is not charging and the charge indicator will stay at a certain percentage but when I reboot the phone it it fully charged (according to the indicator).
First I thought it was an android problem. But when I switch off the phone the charging image appears as well and starts blinking, also the menu and back button flash on and off. It's also quite difficult to switch on the phone at this point and the battery image shows only the outline of the battery, not how much charge is in it.
So far I tried 2 other chargers, 2 other batteries (1 original Samsung and 1 after market). Rebooted the phone many times and left the battery out for an hour.
Anyone knows of what causes such a problem? Of course, the fall was the start of the problem. Could there be some pins bent in the usb socket of the phone?

I had a problem recently in which even though I kept my phone on charging (and it showed that it is charging), the battery percentage either remained same or it went down even though it was plugged in.. went to samsung and they said the usb port is damaged and they replaced it.. I think the same resolution will be for your problem
Mmm....makes sense. What does Samsung charge for that?

So I got a ME176C a while ago as a gift, and both these problems were there from the start. Since it was brought a month before I received it, I could not take it back to the store for a direct replacement. Before I contact warranty, I was wondering if anyone encountered these two problems.
1. The left earphone has a major buzzing noise after a sound is played. At higher volume, this isn't evident, but you can still hear it under the louder sound. I tried 3 separate ear/headphones that worked normally on other devices
2. The tab stopped charging properly. I'd leave it overnight, and it'd be stuck at X%, but it'll show charging complete. Unplugging and replugging it make it charge for about 5 minutes before reverting to charging complete. Leaving it overnight shows no increase in charge %, but I can't check if the thing is fully charged or not. Turning it off and leaving it to charge make it charge very slowly. I left it for 12 hours, and it went from 50 to 75%. Before this happened, it was fine, until one day it wouldn't charge past 50%. After multiple reboots, it jumped straight from 50% to 100%, then the current symptoms started happening.
Thank you
I have the same problem with battery. I got Asus ME176CX and its not charging up to %100. For example; I am plugging charger at %50 , its charging up to %54 and showing " Charging Completed" . Then unplugging and replugging charger , its continuing to charge but stopping after charge %3 - %4 more.
I tried factory reset. It doesnt solve. I have .201 last official version. Also tried to drain the battery to %10 then charge. I get same issue.
Yesterday charged up to %60 then restarted tablet. Battery gauge shows %100 then works normally.
I think battery has calibration problem. It shows wrong percentage. I didnt find any solution. I will use warranty for service.
Seems to be a device issue. I tried flashing back to 182, did nothing
Hi, did you find any solution? After Lollipop 5.0 update same charging issue continues. I send device to ASUS Service then came back and didnt change anything. Looks like device has internal battery problem. I will try to get pay back from warranty.
Hello everyone, I've had my X4 for one and a half years now and the battery life has been nothing short of fantastic during the period.
But two days back, the battery started acting up pretty weird. I had it on charge and was using it while charging and in some time I noticed the battery percentage remained static for an unusual amount of time. So I unplugged it, and battery immediately dropped by 3 percent and drained down a few percent so fast like it had never before and then stayed at a percent (say 16%) for a long time and then drained normally afterwards.
When I plugged it in again, it charged for a little before getting stuck again (the number at which it gets stuck is random). And I've tried reboots, I've tried killing the phone and charging while it's off (same result).
I was wondering if this could be a problem with the cable or with the battery itself. But then again, the battery has remained stellar until two days ago and I'm confused if it could show its degradation in such a way. I haven't replaced the cable yet, maybe I'll have little luck with that.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.
That reminded me of something i saw on the motorola support site where I logged in and registered my x4 - top on the help:

Battery calibration
If you are experiencing incorrect or inconsistent battery level, quick battery discharge, slow or erratic charging speeds, or sudden power off or rebooting, a battery calibration could correct the problem.
To perform a battery calibration:
Force reboot the device by holding the power button until the device reboots
(For the moto z3 hold volume down + power to force the reboot.)
Plug into supplied charger
Charge to 100% and leave on the charger for at least an additional hour after getting to 100%"
Don't know if that has anything to do with the price of eggs but hopefully it will give you ideas...
