GSM users on AOSP ROMs may experience random reboots. The problem only seems to occur when connected to LTE and switching cell towers, like when driving. I believe that many users have mistaken this for GPS problems, when in fact the reboot is triggered by the baseband. I've been using the VS980 with T-Mobile. The problem occurs on all Kitkat and Lollipop AOSP roms, but not on stock. I seem to have found a solid solution. This is a flashable 26A modem with the 11A baseband firmware:
Download 26A+11A Hybrid Modem
The 26A hybrid works with all roms that work with the 26A modem, both AOSP and stock. I have tested this one extensively with several roms and it works great. I used it for a week with zero reboots. For users with reboot issues, I recommend using a 26A based rom and this modem.
What about 39A?
I had previously posted a 39A/11A hybrid. It doesn't work--the phone reboots on incoming calls. Soon I will try a 39A/12B hybrid.
Details
The modem partition that we've been flashing is actually a FAT partition that contains many binaries. These binaries run in various parts of the SOC controlling audio DSP, DRM, WLAN, the baseband, and more. I don't know what all the parts do, but the baseband firmware is just one of these parts. The baseband firmware is a self contained proprietary RTOS that runs in a dedicated processing core in the SOC. Apparently the differences between modem partitions that make older ones incompatible with newer roms is not due to the baseband itself. The old 11A baseband firmware still works great and does not cause reboots when used with AOSP roms.
Why 11A
I was experimenting with NVRAM edits to unlock support of additional bands. I found that 11A is the last firmware that pays attention to the relevant values. All later basebands have hardcoded values that will revert the edits. It follows that the later basebands have been more deeply modified for Verizon and that 11A is a more generic G2 baseband. Other basebands may work well too, but I haven't tried it. This was the first one that I tried and it works great. I seem to be getting a stronger signal and better data speed, but it could be placebo. As an added bonus it is possible to experiment further with band unlocking.
Will this work on vs98039a stock on micromods xtream 1.1 rom?

No. That is a modified stock 39A rom. The 39A hybrid modem only works with AOSP based roms.
So is this just for GSM users? I have a VS980 on Verizon running AOD rom.. I have random reboots lol

Give it a shot, it might help. You can always flash back to your current modem. Let us know how it works out.
Flashed this on unofficial cm 12. We'll see how it goes.
Will this baseband allow me to enable LTE bands 2, 5, and 17 for usage on AT&T? @jacob019, I saw your post in the in the LTE unlock thread. Were you ever able to get LTE band 17 working on T-Mobile?

Yes and no. Yes, it will allow you to modify the NV values needed to unlock bands. I tried unlocking band 17, but my phone never connected to it. I think the hardware doesn't contain the necessary filters to support the band. Unlocking other bands may work, but I didn't have any to test.
Is it possible that T-mobile doesn't use band 17 in your area? According to this link, they only use LTE bands 2, 4, and 12 currently.
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/02/0...sm-cdma-wcdma-lte-verizon-att-sprint-tmobile/
@jacob019, have you tried bands 2 and 12? As far as I can tell, T-mobile doesn't use band 17
I tried band 17 with an ATT sim. I only get T-Mobile LTE on band 4 here in Indianapolis, even with a phone that supports the other bands. Therefore I have been unable to test any other bands.
can you talk and surf at the same time coming off of LTE (without wifi of course). On a normal Tmobile headset, when you are on LTE, it'll drop down to hspa to connect to the call still allowing you to surf. Verizon model seems to drop all the way down to GPRS when a call is made if you are on LTE at the time the call is made. When in GPRS mode, data is disabled.
will this work on d802?
Well I was excited to see today that I had a system update waiting. I got home and installed the update thinking it was the Marshmallow OTA update. Update installed and apps were optimized but when phone restarted wouldn't you know it I am still on 5.1.1. What gives?

The one on the Nexus factory image page contains Project Fi. I don't think there will be a separate firmware anymore for Profect Fi. I flashed that one and it worked fine for me.

FWIW: Google is officially recommending that Fi owners should not flash MRA58K. Go here > https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/project-fi/FEt79texJiA;context-place=forum/project-fi
Yeah, but I think they are just trying to detour you from flashing the update, and just wait for the Fi OTA. I don't think it has anything to do with the 6.0 build, itself. It worked fine for me,and Project Fi activates on it just fine.
yeah the factory image works fine except for losing TMobile Band 12 connectivity.

Yes, I understand. Just be aware that if you run into any problems, of any kind, the Fi help team will not provide assistance unless you flash back to 5.1.1.

Not a big deal, I am happy other than b12 on 6. My nexus 7 (2013) is running great, Nexus 6 is running great. Sprint and TMobile just kind of have horrible coverage in NH.... It's sad.
I only wish the system would use more wifi calling instead of trying to use 1 bar of sprint or tmobile at the house. THAT part sucks, and sucked no matter what version of the OS I was running....
So... I HAVE run into 1 major problem. Because we are kind of a sprint household, with no coverage, we have an Airave.
Even after setting the airave to only allow the sprint phones of the house and NO OTHER PHONES, my PFI Nexus 6.0 is STILL Connecting to it!!!! And of course, it doesn't work, I can't dial out, or do anything.
So, sadly I'm going back to 5.1.1 till they get around to fixing the radio. Ugh.
I have been running 6.0 on Fi since the release day.. Everything seems fine. WiFi Calling is fine. but if anyone sees official Fi 6.0 Firmware Id like to have it.
The official OTA is out. Link to OTA's. I just finished sideloading it myself and it's optimizing right now. The OTA requires you to be on the LVY48H though.
From what I read MRA58K is the unifying build for all Nexus 6's to go back to one Factory image for all nexus devices. I'm glad Google is doing that cause I was sick of Flashing the hell out of my phone because of flashing the wrong builds. lol
I have recently...... after several days of stress and temporarily thinking I was stuck with a very expensive paper weight..... successfully rooted my SM-G920T w/ CF auto root & flashed Tyrannus ROM & Unikernel for S6 w/ TWRP recovery. I am really liking this ROM, however, I just noticed today that it does not include the native Wifi calling features that were on the stock SM-G920T ROM. With T-Mobile's Wifi calling you can send regular SMS messages & make regular calls over Wifi w/ no cell service, it's an extremely convenient feature. Is there a way to keep running this custom ROM and enable the Wifi calling feature? If not, will the developer of the Tyrannus ROM please include in next update if possible, if it doesn't require stock kernel. I hope I don't have to revert to stock to have this feature. Thanks to the developers for all your hard work, much appreciation.
I think you better post this on Tyrannus rom forum to get the answer faster.
Wifi calling is for Tmo. Based so it will be hard to put on International rom.
The Tyrannus ROM is built to support multiple variants of the S6 (G920/G925 F/I/S/K/L/T/W8), not just the 920T variant. If you want a ROM with WiFi calling, flash a ROM made for the 920T specifically from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/development
I've used Sow Nice rom for quite some time with WiFi calling and it works quite well, I believe it is one of the only custom roms that works with T-mobile's WiFi calling
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/development/rom-sow-nice-rom-v1-0-oi1-tweaked-t3229591
I have the T 817 T (which is the T-Mobile LTE version of the tablet) but there's nothing available in the way of custom roms or anything... I was wondering if I could flash a ROM meant for the Wi-Fi only Version of this tablet...i know I obviously wouldn't have LTE access but would it boot and run otherwise?
I remember back in the days of the original Nexus 7 I could Flash Roms meant for the Wi-Fi only version on my LTE without issue.... Thanks for any input guys.
Can anyone help me with this.
All the other versions of the J7 Prime (G610F & G610M) have recieved 7.0 Nougart update 6 months ago.
My phone is pretty much the same underneath as the rest of these, No my phone is not carrier locked.
I'm not the only one having this issue, there are a lot of people in the Philippines, Pakistan and here in New Zealand who are wanting this update and cant get it.
Samsung wont tell me anything no matter how much I ask their help desk and support team
I feel like as a customer I deserve to at least know why I haven't got this update but the rest of the world has, and not get continuously told to turn auto updates on when its already on.
Same device bro
Bro, i am a Y variant and i'm on PH. We don't have a choice but to install custom rom to taste the nougat android. Just root your phone, install TWRP then install custom rom like NovaOS or Lineage OS 15.1 for J7 Prime. Just search it and you can find it.
Same issue here...just installed Xenos Rom and its more than enough for me with the features....there are other roms as well
same ;(
Ah, those lazy Samsung coding teams...
My condolences, but you can always install the ROM closest to stock.

There are no specific apps for Philippines G610Y except when you purchase through a Telco where settings like boot screen / default web pages all point to the Telco. Flashing Aussie Official G610Y ROM should be fine. In fact this should be a good base to create a custom ROM as it may contain updated drivers and the like.
I been running the Nougat Note FE XenOS v.1.1 without any problem so i dont need to worry bout waiting for an update from OTA

One minor problem I have encountered so far now is whenever I switch to 3G/2G on network mode, it doesn't survive the reboot. It reverts nback to 2G/3G/LTE mode. Other than that the Stock ROm is stable so far. Battery life is incredible.

Need to troubleshoot 1x1. First, I noticed you are using Oxygen kernel. It could probably be an incompatibility with this one.
Another, which I can think of is incompatibility of CSC part if you didnt change your original.

It was still present when I was still using the stock kernel. About the CSC though I have no idea. But maybe you're right because I flashed the original CSC tar.md5 file that came straight from the stock Aussie Nougat ROM. I don't know how I can change it. (Perhaps flash the stock CSC from MM?)

I checked my csc if it changed , and yes it was changed together with xenos. So it might be something else. But then there are CSCs which are not multi CSCs. So i could be wrong.
Edit: ok i did some googling. CSC doesnt affect network selection its the baseband part. You can install phone info samsung to check what versions you are in.

Just tried flashing the old MM modem.bin Seems to work like a charm. Although the network mode still reverts the 2G/3G/4G mode, I'm getting consistent 2G signals now and no more signal drops. I just use 4G whenever I use the phone outside where there is no wifi or when I use Navigation apps like Waze. I assume it'll get the 4G/LTE signal when the signal is strong enough.

Can you kindly guide me on how to flash modem.bin? I flashed NZ Nougat stock ROM on PH-bought G610Y and I'm having problem switching network mode when using dual sim. If I disable sim 2 I have no problem. But when both sims are enabled I can't swith sim 1 from 2G only to 4G/3G/2G. Switching doesn't do anything. It's stuck in 2G only.
Do I simply flash the file that starts with "CP"?
Update: I went ahead and flashed the CP file from Marshmallow and problem is fixed. Thanks for the tip!

I am experiencing problems with the new facebook app on XenOS v.1.1 FB is important for me because I need it for work. So, I decided to flash the New Zealand Nougat G610Y. Here are the steps I took for successful installation official nougat on Philippine based phone:
1. I flashed latest XTC G610Y MM so all partitions contain XTC (Philippines) based settings/customizations (BL / AP / CP / CSC)
2. I flashed G610YZTU1BRC3 Nougat (BL / AP) only which means CP/CSC remains XTC (xtc is multi CSC)
3. after step 2 finishes flashing from ODIN, it will encounter an error, but it will go to recovery mode
4. at recovery mode, I simply reboot the system and enjoyed a fresh copy of Nougat
I did not encounter any problem with network selection and tested rebooting it as well. Hope that helps your problem.
Please Assist me on this (i mean step by step instructions..)
