power from the micro usb connector?

I'm in the process of developing a small device to work with the HD2 (like gps, but indoors).
This is a small chip that I will communicate with trough the micro usb port.
Now my question: can I somehow power the device (very low power) with power from the hd2 (ideally trough the existing micro usb connector).
Does anyone know this? I can't seem to find the answer to this.
Any help is appreciated
Have you measured if there is an output?
The 3 gold contacts near the batt pack have 0V and the batt supply on them. Maybe you could get the extended battery cover without batt and use the extra space to house your gadget. That way no protrouding objects.

I havent been able to measure yet, I'll try that ofcourse, but I thought someone here might have the answer already.
The power really has to come from the micro-usb slot. Think of the device as a small usb-stick.
Hello
And if you Buy a µUSB to USB cable (cheap on Ebay), cut the cable and with tester you have your + and - power ????
After you take it for power of your small device...
Not to difficult
And the micro USB for the Léo is a micro usb standard look here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus

The HD2 doesn't supply any power from the connector. As it wasn't meant to have USB host functionality that's not implemented.
Sorry
I thought there was still an "output power"!!!
Effectively It's just "Input power"

Charge using usb extension.

Hi,
Will charging the phone using a usb extension + original usb cable will make the charging much longer to be full?
The longer the cable, the less voltage reaches the battery. I've experienced this as well.
It depends more on the quality of the cable (section), than it's length.
Anyway, charging from a usb port delivers only (more or less) 500mA, from the power adapter : 1000mA, so except if you have one of those recent gigabyte motherboard including the ON/OFF CHARGE feature (enables ~1000mA output to usb ports), it's always better to charge from the power adapter.

Shorting the USB Port?

I bought a Nexus One with the infamous broken power button issue, and I am curious what would the effect be if I short the VCC and GND line in the charging port? Has anyone tried that? I am thinking that it will either fry the board or trick the phone to think that it is charging.
The reason I want to do this is because I travel a lot and I might not have access to USB charging if I want to swap the SIM card. I am familiar with the other tricks regarding remapping the trackball_center and I am going to install a version of CWM that doesn't support charging (that way the phone boots when I plug a charging cable).
So long story short... what do you think about attempting to short the micro USB charging/data port?
It won't fool the phone into anything, only ruin your USB socket and potentially fry any device into which you'll plug such phone, forgetting that it's shorted.
For charging detection 5V needs to be applied between VCC and GND - standard VBUS voltage.

Power Output modification.

Is it possible to increase the power output from the xperia z micro USB port so that it can power an external hard drive and USB 3 pen drives via an otg cable. Any help will be appreciated.

[Q] Query: Note 2 adapter from micro USB to 2+ USB and 1 micro USB for phone charging

Hey all!
I have had a note 2 since a year, and watch a great deal of movies from Hard disks/pen drives via an OTG cable on it. However, I face a problem when the battery goes low and I cannot charge my phone as well as continue watching via OTG.
Hence my query- Is there any hub/adapter which can expand my Note 2 micro USB into a couple of USB ports (1 USB will also suffice, but I'm being a little greedy here ) as well as a micro USB so that I can connect my phone charger and charge the phone as I watch movies.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks
I think you're looking for something like this...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FGKXY9S/ref=pd_aw_sims_1?pi=SS115&simLd=1
But the listing says the cable will not charge the phone. It will only power the accessory attached.
@GarfieldDC- Yes, I want something like this, which can charge my phone as well plz...
is not possible because the connector otg is different from the connector for recharging
You may need this. You can connect even a hub into female usb while other male cable plugged into the charger. I use this cable for many device which does not provide power on otg. And it do charge the phone also
