[Q] Uninstall-Install problem

Hello All,
I'm trying to install Igo - since my Milestone's 60 days Motonav trial expired.
Unfortunately I did not uninstall the Motonav properly, just deleted the SD card folders, the apk from the phone itself and the shortcut from the main menu.
I don't know if it's the root of the problem or not, but cannot install the Igo just receive error message: "application not installed".
I'm trying to install it with Rootexplorer, the sdcard is in R/W mode.
Probably there are some files in the system what I have to delete manually due to the n00b Motonav deletion process I've made?
Or do you have any other idea? (I've ckecked this forum but did not find related topic. If there are any, sorry just drop me the link...)
Many thanks for your help in advance.

[Q] force close "com.diotek.diodict.p1.engeng" after 2.3.3

hi all
i have a galaxy tab and have upgraded to gingerbread 2.3.3 using kies and i am getting a frequent error message that an extensive google search can't explain
so i was wondering if someone in here might be able to help me out and please shed some light on it?
the situation is - every now and then, i get a force close popup for "com.diotek.diodict.p1.engeng"
a google search of this text brings up only 205 results! adding in "galaxy tab" makes it drop even more! so i am guessing it's not a common issue...
in fact, it seems the only posts are either to do with the "JME firmware" (which I dont think I have) or an app called Advanced Task Killer which I also don't have.
i have searched everywhere and not found anything to solve the problem. can anyone in here please help??
thanks!
james
i should also say that i have tried clearing the data for the English Dictionary application (that came with the tab) and also tried a Factory Reset (in privacy settings). the clear data didnt change anything but when i factory reset it, it took a few days for the issue to reappear.
thanks for the help
I had the same problem. I re-installed the 'English Dictionary' APK, which you can find in /preload/apk (you can get there in ES File Manager, don't need to be rooted) & haven't had a problem since
thanks, pokey
i tried your suggestion and so-far so-good! thanks a million!
james
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, but can't find the preload folder. Can you give me a more detailed indication of where it is?
Thanks
8Ball
/preload/apk/Apps/DioDict_EngEng.apk
Install ES File Explorer, hit the far left button to go from /sdcard to / ... then you can navigate down ...
well by now it would normally have force closed, but since the reinstallation it hasnt - so big thanks to pokey! fixed!
I have the same problem but my preload/app did not have DioDict_EngEng.apk. I found a copy of the apk, copied it to my external sd card and try reinstalling it but it did not work. Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of that error message.
Also under preload/TOSDCARD, there is a folder named samsungdic but no apk in it too. Hope someone can help me, thank you
DioDict_EngEng stops working solved...
Hello everyone...
I just registered to this forum in order to provide the following information.
I have a Galaxy Tab P1000 with Gingerbread installed thorugh the Samsung Kies update. My tab is not rooted or anything. It started showing several times a day a message indicating: "(process com.diotek.diodict.p1.engeng) has stopped unexpectedly". If you try to uninstall the application using the Android Menu, you won't be able to do it, cause the Uninstall button is grayed.
If you want to see the error, try loading the English dictionary that should be in Applications in your tab.
So, i managed to solve the issue, and it's very simple. Just download an app called APPREMOVER, and remove the English Dictionary. Once removed, get into Samsung Applications and search for English Dictionary. Just download it and reinstall it.
Before this, i tried deleting the tab data, deleting a directory in the tab using the ES File Manager, also i installed the English Dictionary from an apk i found on mediafire (google for DioDict_EngEng.apk and it will be the first hit). NOTHING worked.
So i hope this helps Orcomma, raejade, and anyone else who has this problem.
Cya guys!

Issue with app's ?

Hi.
I have issues here.
I would install market and Astro filemanager.
But I got info that they already was installed.
I cannot see them in the Application->Manage applications
It tells me, that " you don't have any third party apps installed".
I had the idea, that the GT540 is rooted, but obvciously not, as I cannot install apk's using the adb command.
Beside this, I also have this:
process com.android.vending issue.
What can I do?

You've missed the forum, this should be in General or Themes and Apps forum.
You haven't stated what ROM are you using.
Are you trying to install Astro via Play Store or from apk on sd card?
com.android.vending is a Google Play Store app, has it updated itself or is still Market?

Sorry for posting a wrong place :-(
I'm not sure what ROM I'm using. It's the dafault one, as it has not been modified, but Don't know. How to see it?.
It's an LG GT540 I use.
Iwould install it from apk on SD card, but due to a reason I don't know, I cannot get adb to work.
It tells me, that device not found.
I have formatted the SD card with FAT32, and now I cannot see the system path.
Bot worth to mention, I'm a newcomer here on Android :crying:

Now I can go to Market and do all what I want.
Thanks for the link to recovery and fastboot.
Will save the link for future use.
So for now, thanks for all your comments and great infos.
They are much appreciated

Why don't you try to find the Keepsafe.apk by googling or on 4shared.com.
Put the .apk on your sd card and install it...

Is the LG 2x rooted?
Try to use root explorer, to go on whatever the fotos may be, maybe the photos are movable with this explorer

apps (installed on sd card) icon disappearing after restart

I were searching a lot about this problem and some people saying could help link2sd so I installed it for not working for me or I dont know to use it (create link option doesnt made norhing)
I observed this after installing cyanogenmod 12.1 so I am not sure if the ROM causes it or is Fire device...
do you know any trick to solve this?

Without further elaboration Link2SD (or other app/method/tool that leverages symbolic links) is the best solution. You will need to invest time learning how to prepare the SD card; see FAQ below. Otherwise probably best to leave most apps in internal storage unless the developer explicitly states it is movable. This is a generic Lollipop limitation unrelated to device or CyanogenMod 12.x.
http://www.link2sd.info/faq
Some prefer the (unfortunately named) Apps2SD app by Vicky Bonick which offers similar functionality.
I am understanding that is needed first preparate sd and after that click on the option 'create link', and must work all fine. I am going to investigate more, thanks!
