so i really don't know if i am in the right sub, but let's hope so
so i bought the S5 from germany about 3 days ago, when i returned back to my country, i noticed that the phone ONLY accepts european simcards so i am locked out of using the phone for calling or texting or anything

No, there is no solution available at the moment. A couple of people have been able to persuade ATT to give them codes after many days of phone calls and support chat. A few have had some varying success with turbo sims that supposedly fool the phone into thinking the sim is an ATT sim, but that's it.
based on what I have read online. ATT often will unlock your phone when you are in the contract for like 6 months or a year.
I called them with my tilt 2 about a year into my contract. Tell them that I am traveling oversea and want to use the phone internationally. They gave me the code without much hassle.
Not sure if this is partially due to the fact I have been with ATT for years.
Online search also shows that ATT will often unlock almost all smartphoen for you except iPhone, so keep try them and if the CSR does not help, ask for supervisor.

The official requirements are:
1. at least 90 days into a contract
2. Have a post paid account with contract
3. Paid all bills on time.

Captivate has proven to be an exception to this. There is already a long thread about Sim Unlock. The bottom line is AT&T won't give you a unlock code for Captivate until 10 months later.

Hi jentech
have read the whole thread "SIM unlock" till yet and have not a good feeling when my captivate will arrive to contact AT&T for the unlock code.
I never has been a AT&T customer cause living outside the US and won´t be to become one so hope they could understand my problem...
Do you have an email contact for their support-center?

If you're not an AT&T customer, they typically won't help you with unlock at all. Good luck.
Not sure why there is another unlock thread, but At&T told me they would. Unlock in 90 days. I have no reason to doubt them.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

Bye bye AT&T

unlock Captivate with froyo
today i unlocked my captivate with an app called Galaxy S Unlock get it in the market very easy to do also on youtube i am running froyo 2.2, version I897ucji6 and i am rooted (need to be rooted)
Finally got the captivate to unlock and accept the tmobile sim today. Everything seems to be working fine so far. No data on the plan but using wifi til I add data. One thing I'm really curious about is.... Now that the phone is unlocked and working, If I flash a custom rom (say cognition for example) will I lose the "unlock" ?
*edit* forgot to say how I did it... I just simply flashed back to stock 2.1, master cleared, rooted, installed busybox and galaxy unlock app, used the #2 method with the unlock app and it worked. PATIENCE IS KEY! ===> It takes a good 2-4 minutes for the tmobile signal to kick in so it may seem as if the unlock failed but it just takes alot longer than the at&t signal to kick in.

[Q] Sim unlock HD& from o2

Hello,
I recentley got a HD7 from o2 with a pay as you go sim because i cant get the HD7 from Orange (my network)
Now I have the phone I have found O2 have Sim locked it so I cannot use my Orange sim in it. I have looked all through XDA developers to see if other people had the same problem.
A lot of people have used http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/htc-hd7-unlock I have been on this site every day for 2 weeks and they cannnot find an unlock code for my ime number.
I have used a cople of other unlock websites i found on google but they all say they cant find the unlock code.
Dose any one have any suggestions? If not dose any one want a HD7 locked to o2?
Sounds tough for you, I had mine unlocked from there within 5 minutes and its an 02 pay as you go, using http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/htc-hd7-unlock.
Yeah I bought an HD7 at the weekend, locked to O2 with the intention of getting it unlocked. First person I tried came back saying they couldn't find an unlock code. Trying again with someone else who promises they use the newest database (costs more) but it's been nearly twenty four hours without anything so I'm guessing no luck again.
The IMEI checker on htcimeiunlock.com says a code isn't in the database so I don't know what to do either. When I check price and availabilty on unlock-now.com it takes me to their order page and costs €35.00 but I haven't really seen them before so not sure if they're legit. HTCCode are around the same price but I've heard quite a few horror stories, so a bit put off now.
And sure enough, another refund due to a lack of code. Going to ring O2 directly, when I asked instore I mentioned that I wasn't on O2 and so couldn't use the web form, so he told me to ring instead.
EDIT: Big fat nope, only after 12 months.
Just used the Live Support feature on the HTCCode website and got a quick response. My phone isn't in the database yet but it should be updated within a fortnight. Took my details to get back to me when that happens.
Looks like I'm playing the waiting game sadly.

Can not network unlock my Razr i

hello everyone. Has anyone had any problems network unlocking the RAZRi's? I bought the phone about 4 weeks ago from a t mobile customer. Im on the 3 network, so i paid and ordered for the unlocking code from cellunlocker.net. I recieved the code but it didnt seem to work, so i got the 16 digit unlock code from another website. Both party's have given me the same exact code and have confirmed this is the only unlock code for the phone. Whenever i enter the code on the unlock screen, nothing happens. i can enter any number any amount of times and the phone just reverts back to the unlock screen. Ive been messing around with this phone for nearly 4 weeks now trying to unlock it. I flashed different firmwares just incase it was a firmware related problem. Tried, GB Retail and Europe but no luck. Before a penalty timer used to kick in on the en.orange firmware after entering the code, now after flashing to GB and Europe and reflashing back to orange.en i dont get no penalty timers. Ive come to a point, where im thinking of selling the phone to tmobile/orange sim user and going out and buying a unlocked razr. Im just wondering, if i have hardlocked my phone? Ive been without my phone line for nearly a month now...Someone please help me
Hello, I was considering buying my phone locked on a network and using cellunlocker too.
Firstly, if you paid for their service, and it doesn't work - go back to them. Do that before you move on. They told me they can unlock the RAZR i. You are a paying consumer - you paid - they must deliver.
Don't imagine the worst; it's your phone network, it's this complicated phone/software etc. P.s. I have faith in these services normally, I think some of them are legitimate and some aren't.
Let us know what cellunlocker says. :good:

Should my HTC One work anywhere in the world?

I bought my One in the UK and, as far as I'm aware, it's locked to Three (the network I bought it from). Since I've come to China and South East Asia, I do not get any signal on my phone. My girlfriend who has an iPhone 3Gs and is also on Three gets signal (or she did before she cancelled her contract).
Should I get signal out here? I thought the phone would be able to work anywhere in the world in spite of where it was purchased. Anybody know anything about this? It's rooted and I have a custom ROM and custom firmware installed. Pretty sure I also updated the radio manually too, but I can't remember.

Its not working because the phone is SIM-locked to Three network. You will have to SIM unlock the phone.
http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI..._cat=billing,varset_subcat=3772,Case=obj(4363)
Request an unlock code and continue the process. Then, your SIM will be unlocked and you will be able to use it anywhere

Huh, I thought that would only happen if I tried to put a non-Three SIM in the phone. Thanks, man
If you have your UK SIM in there, maybe you need to activate roaming on the network. But you know what they're like, you can only do that whilst in the UK.
Get an unlock code from eBay or a website and buy a local SIM, it'll save you money in days or even hours given the stupendous price of data roaming.

Unlock Note 5 T-mobile variant

Hi guys, anyone know of a good method to unlock a locked T-mobile Note 5 that was bought from e-Bay? I've been using t-mobile for years, but I don't know if the 40 days of use method will work since I didn't buy my previous/current Note 5 (unlocked) from t-mobile. My new Note 5 is factory locked, and I don't think the unlock code method some third party sellers sell will work with it.
Any info?
It doesnt matter if you bought the device from Tmo or not you may have to get service for at least 40 days. and after that last payment with 40 days in mind the unlocker app will work....I went thru that with the Lg v10 when it first came out and i got it from swappa. But i dont know off hand if things have changed or not since then but third party unlockers couldnt do it then. Thats one reason i quit buying devices from tmo and having to mess with that app but after 40 days made the payment on the 42nd day and the app worked fine.....

Thanks for the info. As far as I've read there used to be more options in the past:
-People would flash a MetroPCS Rom to their Note 5's in order to prompt to enter an unlocking code they would buy from a third party seller.
-People would unlock the phone through the T-mobile app regardless of where they bought the phone from, after a 40 day service under t-mobile, and have the phone fully paid if they bought it through t-mobile (used to be a whole year in the old old days). Also, some people reported being able to unlock after only 4 days of use under a t-mobile line, and requesting help from t-mobile. However IF the phone was stolen, or the previous owner had pending payments, the phone would get flagged by t-mobile, and other issues would appear to prevent you from unlocking, which is why it's risky to buy used phones off not so reputable sources like eBay.
- Some people or third party sellers would offer a server based unlock that was either free or paid by donation. I read that they needed root, but would use a "ping pong" type of temporary root that would not trip Knox, which sounds amazing, but I doubt people are still doing that since a lot of users ar moving on from the Note 5 by now.

I wasnt getting nowhere talking to tmo but went ahead and got the service with them just to unlock the device. But after that i started buying international devices, which was better since tmo is allowing bootloader lock and i prefer the exynos chips anyhow over snapdragon.
Hey, I was able to easily unlock my phone through T-mobile for free and really quick.
I bought a genuine T-mobile locked Note 5 from eBay, fearing it maybe a fake, since they still sell so many fake phones out there.
I tried the unlocking app on my SM-920T, and it said my device wasn't eligible. I called T-mobile, and a lady told me that she wouldn't know how to unlock my device past the unlocking app, so I asked her to transfer me to a tech guy, and she did.
The tech guy looked up my IMEI number, and realized it wasn't a stolen phone, or a used phone under someone's account left with a debt, so he said that was good so far, and he tried his first "unlock method" to no success... I don't know what that method was, but then he said he'd try a second method (probably server based), and he was successful. He told me to wait anywhere from 2 hours to 24 hours, and try the unlocking app.
I tried the unlocking app right away, and it worked. Overall, it took less than 5 minutes talking to T-mobile to unlock permanently.
I did this in Florida, US, with a refurbished phone that seems to be legit. I don't know how this method will vary under other circumstances.

Hey man, just to let you know, it is even EASIER to unlock phones through T-mobile now, and for free!!! All you have to do is leave a message about it on T-Mobile's Facebook support, and leave them your IMEI.
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE NOT USING THE PHONE ON T-MOBILE
NO CONTRACT OR DAYS OF USE WITH THEM REQUIRED
THEY USUALLY RESPOND IN MINUTES
NO CHARGE WHATSOEVER
IF YOU ARE IN THE US, EVEN THE SIM CARD ON TMOBILE SHOULD BE FREE IF YOU NEED IT, JUST DON'T GO TO A SHADY SMALL T-MOBILE SHOP OWNED BY A THIRD PARTY, GO TO THE BIG STORES.
