ok, what happened:
I were on 4.4.4 stock kitkat rom with root. i wanted to update to 5.0 lollipop and i used the moto x 2014 multitool package. i pressed 6 for sideloading 5.0 update.zip every operation turned out successful. and i pressed reboot device when it was done. but my phone wouldn't turn on. i have tried turning it on into bootloader, but then the green light lights up and the two IR led's on the right side light up. i would really appreciate some help!

Thankyou for answering.
my computer detects it as QHSUSB_BULK. And yes, i downgraded it from 5.1 to 4.4.4 by flashing stock firmware.
You will have to send it to motorola for repair, there is no way for you to fix it yourself.
The problem is you downgraded your phone, after a downgrade you cannot take an OTA ever or it will brick.

Did your phone have stock 5.0 or 5.1 before you installed CM? If so, then yes you did downgrade when you went to 4.4.4 which is why it is now bricked. That message that says QHSUSB_BULK means you are bricked, you will have to send it to motorola.

Nope. That tutorial won't work.
To unbrick the Moto X 2014 we need the blankflash files, but Motorola didn't release it yet.
If you send it to repair they will replace the MB.

jig is for samsung phones to get into downloader mode. We have fastboot, not the same system. So no it will not work.

This is a time where I wish android had a stable backup option not requiring root. Normally I use titanium backup however I'm keeping this stock. iOS has nailed this with iCloud.

One thing that I forgot to add is you need to remove the getvar line in the .xml file.
I can only say this works for VZW. Not sure about other carriers.
so can someone post that they have returned to 4.2.2 from 4.4 on a locked bootloader vzw device please. I know people said you can, or it worked or whatever. But i just want to make sure that you are on a locked device and didn't misread the thread title or something.
yeah, post screen shots of kernel, etc.
I have personally done this on my LOCKED VZW Moto X.
Works like a charm. The RSD Lite, will flash it back to factory unrooted 4.2.2. You will have to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509590 to reroot if you want.

Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Steps that I took to downgrade from KitKat. VZW Moto X Consumer (non-dev) (LOCKED)
1) download and install RSDlite and Motorola Drivers (I used RSDlite 6.1.5)
2) Download http://sbfdownload.droid-developers...2-13.9.0Q2.X-116-MX-17-57-X-1_CFC_1FF.xml.zip
3) Unzip the file
4) Open the .xml file and delete the line that has "getvar"
5) Reboot your phone to "bootloader/fastboot" mode
6) Open RSDlite and load the unzipped edited download from above
7) Make sure your phone shows up
8) Start the flash
9) Once complete the phone should reboot and start up like normal.
I have not had any issues. I have rerooted with RockMyMoto.

I have tried flashing the stock recovery but that doesn't seem to help. I have also tried installing the zip via TWRP and via mfastboot. Hello, was just wondering if you were able to unroot and relock? If so, I'd REALLY be thankful if you could kind of walk me through the process. I have a VZW Dev Edition X. The phone is a XT1095; Pure Edition
So I unrooted the phone and flash the stock 5.0 image from Motorola.
In the bootloader, it's still showing that the software was modified even though the phone has been unrooted.
I've wiped cache and did a factory reset and still no change.
Any ideas? I'm sending the phone back for RMA and don't want Motorola rejecting my RMA because of the software status.

1. Restore STOCK firmware with ADB o RSDLITE
2. Install one update with MOTOROLA OTA

Right now if I check for an update on the phone or use Motorola Device Manager, it doesn't pick up any updates.
Modified does not matter on the XT1095. The whole point in unlocking the bootloader is to modify it... So yes being modified ia covered.

Hi Guys,
I'm having trouble with my moto x 2014. I flashed the RETEU ALL factory image from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/ota-zip-moto-x-2014-xt1092-5-0-t2970818) . The phone got in 4.4 again. From there I downloaded the 5.0 OTA via the settings interface, and the phone started installing. After that, the phone stayed blank. I cannot get the phone to boot, neither in recovery, nor bootloader. When I press the downkey for > 3 seconds, the green led does appear on the top of the device, but nothing happens on the screen.
I've never had this and no physical damage was done to the device in between the upgrades. Any ideas on the cause and how to fix this? Your help is appreciated!
Before you flashed the factory image for 4.4.4 what version did you have?
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk
well.. that's kinda hard to say. It all began when I tried installing the OTA for 5.1.1 from my rooted 5.1, which is released this week. That went wrong. Then I googled around for a proper firmware to get back to. I got 4.4 on it, but it was a US version. Then I installed the one from the link (first post), which brought me to 4.4 EU. From there I tried the 5.x OTA again. That's when the phone stopped responding. I don't wanna conclude things to soon, but it all feels like a hard bick sadly.
Just as I had feared. You downgraded then took an OTA. It is a hard brick. It can't be repaired by us. You will have to send it to motorola to fix it. You voided the warranty by unlocking your bootloader and downgrading, so to fix it, it won't be free.
Never ever downgrade then take an OTA, it is guaranteed to cause a brick.
What you should have done is flash a stock firmware of the same version, the 5.0 firmware. Not the 4.4.4. That is what went wrong.

It's not 100% the same. The xt1095 and xt1097 have different radios. There is a chance that you might not get cell signal. It is better to get a xt1097 motherboard.

Yeah, that's where I figured it was hanging. All signs just point to a bad flash/firmware. I'd try downloading a different version (even 5.1 since you're unlocked) or verifying the hash on the firmware you flashed. You can use HashMyFiles to check the md5 or SHA hashes.

I tried to use the House of Moto with this firmware: http://motofirmware.center/files/file/249-victara_tmo_51_lpe2332-213_cid9_cfcxmlzip/ but when I load it into the HOM it displays this: "Custom recovery not found.
Using factory image: VICTARA_TMO_5.1_LPE23.32-21.3_cid9_CFC.xml.zip
ERROR: XML script not found in this factory image. This is not yet supported."

That firmware looks like the one for xt1095/T-Mobile/Pure Edition. Also, that error sounds like the HoM instructions weren't followed right. I've flashed my device a bunch with HoM.

Would this one work: VICTARA_NIIBR_XT1097_5.1_LPE23.32-14.2_cid12_CFC.xml.zip? I'm just confused with the "NIIBR" in the firmware name.

So the phone booted up, thank you so much for the help, but for some reason it wont detect my sim card, the wifi doesnt work on it, and it occasionally reboots. I also noticed that the baseband version is unknown. Is there a way to fix this?

Sounds like whatever firmware you flashed had the wrong radios. You should be able to download the Canadian firmware and just flash the radios.

I did flash the Canadian firmware to my knowledge. RETCA_XT1097_5.0.1_LXE22.46-22_cid14_CFC.xml?
I was browsing the xda threads and saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693 where it states: "IMPORTANT. From 5.1 update, the modems included on the update are FULLY compatible with all models, XT1097, 1092 and 1093 and all carriers ,so, you don't have to worry about losing IMEI, signal or data." So, should I be able to flash the brazilian xt1097 firmware and have the proper radios installed from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/ota-android-marshmallow-6-0-final-t3248315 ?
