gapps issue - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to find a permanent fix for this.
I have tried multiple gapps providers and done the same on multiple roms. Issue even happens on stock with bootloader locked and no root.
For some reason after a couple hours of use i start getting a "Google Play Services" crash.
I literally have nothing installed but the select rom of the day and gapps. I have even tried different gapps presets.
Nexus 6, VZW, latest OTA, bootloader locked while testing.
It has become very frustrating and no rom forum or gapps provider forum has been able to provide a solution that works.
Is there a "known" problem with gapps in general that i missed the news flash on or something else wrong?

I think its been a while since anybody has had that issue. There was a version that was causing issue across the board.
What date or version of a Gapps package are you running?
If I remember correctly, it was like the services offered in a Banks Gapps package from 5/29 when I remember folks having the issue.
Fix then was turning off the high accuracy on your location services. Folks must have waited almost 2 weeks before Google fixed. Again I haven't seen in some time.

IS anybody else having problems with Google Now after the 4.4 upgrade?

I have an ATT Moto X. I rooted with Jcase's latest method, and everything is great... except Google Now. Every time I try to open it I get "network error. check your network connections and try again" and no cards or anything. Curiously there also seems to be no way to "turn on" Google Now... Is nobody else having this issue on the Moto X? Any ways around it? I know others (Nexus 4, 5) have been having almost identical issues, but I'm not finding any solutions that work for me (I've spent about 12 hours trying now). Any help would be very much appreciated.
It's fine here on AT&T

I've had this problem with other devices.... I don't recall it with the moto x.
My old samsung did it several times and force stop/clear cache usually solved the problem.
My nexus 7 had this problem after I flashed an update and later accepted it as an OTA. On that one i think i uninstalled updates and re-installed, but it was a while ago an only happened once.
Google Now (FIXED)
Hi everyone,
I had this problem too and there was only one way I could fix it.
Install Google Search v2.6 and update it later if you want.
Cheers.

[Q] GPS issues on Lollipop

I never had any problems with my T-Mobile Note 4 until I upgraded to Lollipop and GPS stopped working- it never locks position and keeps searching for hours with no result. I tried flashing with Odin and Kies. I tried flashing with Sim and SD cards removed. I tried all the recommended GPS fixes. I tried all the available Lollipop custom ROMs and kernels- all to no avail. Once I flash NK4, I have absolutely no GPS issues, on stock or on custom ROMs. I called T-Mobile and Samsung and was told they never heard of this problem- they recommended sending the phone for service. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you guys have.

Try using other Maps. Even apps that locate GPS satellites...sometimes those apps knock sense into the GPS.
I have noticed something similar. I use a golf GPS rangefinder app and now from time to time the GPS freezes for a couple minutes and doesn't update. Same with Google maps. Then it does. Very annoying. Never happened with stock kk. I'm using Dynamic Pop 6.0. Any suggestions? Totally clean install - I wiped everything several times including internal sdcard.

Same issue here. It's really frustrating when you're driving around a new city and Google Maps is bouncing all over the place or just staying in the same place for several minutes even though you're driving. Would really love a fix.

[ROM][5.1.1][UNOFFICIAL] AICP v10.0 for m7spr [10.3.2015]

UNOFFICIAL AICP for the Sprint HTC One
Since @superfes is no longer using this phone, I figured I would post some unofficial builds of AICP (Android Ice Cold Project). The previous thread is intended for closure, so we can use this one. To be clear, I'm only compiling this ROM and will not be troubleshooting specific issues. I will do my best to troubleshoot, but no guarantees. Any help on this front is appreciated - I'm new to this and am interested in continuing to learn.
I'm planning on putting together a build once every week or two for personal use and will share that with you guys.
Obligatory disclaimer: I am not responsible for any trouble you may run into with flashing or otherwise using this ROM. Just because it is working well for me does not guarantee that you will have the same experience.
For those of you wondering what AICP is: http://aicp-rom.com

Build notes
10/3/2015
- Fresh build from 10/3
- Tested service / data when moving and no issues
- Remember that I am not troubleshooting specific issues. I'm not a developer. If you wish to post a logcat or anything like that though, feel free and I will take a look but not necessarily be able to provide a solution
- Yes, the digital roaming display is still there. In fact, when you see digital roaming, this is a sign that you are in service. 'Sprint' shows up when you are roaming so it is backwards.
9/27/2015:
- Didn't make clobber so build that hasn't been updated since 9/19 does not show an update (i.e. build will say 9/19 in many places since that was my last full repo sync). For future builds I will do this but didn't feel like waiting that many hours today
- Cherry-picked tdhite's commit from PAC ROM: http://review.pac-rom.com/#/c/13403/
------This has fixed the com.android.phone crashing problem + service being dropped
------ Usable as a daily driver again!
- From a full day on this ROM it's running smoothly and without errors
- 'Digital Roaming' display-only issue persists (been there for a long time now - no surprises here), and it is not indicative of actually roaming. Go into settings / about / sim status to definitively determine what your service status is.

I couldn't get a solid connection. It was roaming and when I toggled the network type to global, I lost connectivity. I toggled back to CDMA/LTE but still no connection. I toggled Airplane mode. Still no go. I then changed it to Global and got a connection finally, but it was still roaming.
I hope this helps.

Same issue I've noticed everywhere, no proximity sensor feedback when in dialer!
I'm not pushing the power button every time I get called or I make a call. Only reason I'm still glued to 4.4.4.
Tjis is my 3rd m7 on kk and lp Ota, all 3 on both revisions, same issue.

The digital roaming issue is cosmetic - that one's to be expected (see build notes; you are probably not roaming). As for the connectivity drop, I haven't run into that. If that's happening infrequently and you can deal with the display issue, this ROM should be otherwise fine for service-related actions (calls/texts) in my experience over the last couple of days.

Yes, that one is pretty annoying. I have also noticed it on AOSP LP ROMs including this one and just deal with it. Sorry to hear that's holding you back. If there's a fix out there and I come across it, I'll be sure post about it and add to the ROM if applicable.
You can port camera stock m7?

Do you need a log cat when doing anything? Sensor programs show the proximity responding as expected.

First of all, great ROM! Have used AICP on my Nexus 4 and my TF300T in the past and it's always been a nice, stable ROM. Just got one question about non-market apps. I've been unable to install any, though I do have the option enabled in the Security menu. From what I've been able to tell, I can start the install of non-market apks with no problem but then the install screen closes by itself and once or twice, I've seen a pop-up that says something about Anti-piracy software activated. Is there any way around this?
So I need Gapps with this ROM?
How about MM?
Any aicp work?

Just wanted to stop in and say thank you for uploading this to the site. I have had a hard time finding a good daily driver and this is perfect for my needs.
If you are still building weekly for your own personal use i would greatly appreciate you uploading here as well.
Also I like the inclusion of more cpu governors such as smartmax_eps, has been great for pokemon go

Slow loading times on Android 6.0

Hey guys, I had posted a while back saying that for some reason, after flashing the new build of Marshmallow to my Nexus 6, the load times for web pages and just about everything else seems to be a bit slower than usual. I had said at the end of the post that it was fixed, but now the problem is arising again. Is anyone noticing long load times with all apps that use internet? Web pages load slower, the Facebook app takes much longer to load pictures and posts, Skype took longer to login and show everyone's profile pics etc. Never had this problem before on lollipop!
EDIT: Also, when I switch between my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi bands, it shows a push notification that says that this WiFi signal has no internet access, and then it connects just fine after a few more seconds. This is odd. Maybe just a buggy first run of Marshmallow?

It's not loading really at all, but that's also due to my LTE coverage being awful in my area, that's always been bad haha so no change there. My other devices in the house are working just fine on my network, the Nexus 6 however seems to load slower, and it's only now that I'm on Android 6.0! Is it working fine for you?
EDIT: Just an update here, hours later, it may be my internet connection, possibly. But I'm not 100% sure on that either. If nobody else is having this issue, it may just be. Like I said though, it seems to be working fine with my other devices!
EDIT 2: http://imgur.com/gallery/TGiCU55 This is a speed test I did on my phone, I have 30Mbps internet and that shows!
I'm having same issue. Dirty flash. Kinda wondering if a clean factory reset is in order.
no issues here....came from a clean flash, which is standard protocol.
M seems fast so far, but I did change my animations Scale from 1.00 to .50! The only website to load very slow is XDA... go figure!

Yup. I did same. I might try the lollipop radio. Idk...
XDA is always sloooooow, even on a fast PC.
I've seen several other people mention slow net speeds on M as well but I've not noticed it yet. The WiFi code of M caused issues awhile back on some previous builds of HellsCore kernel too. I dont know the specifics of it though.

So there was a definite change in the radio for this build then. More than a subtle change. I wonder if it's just not perfect, I realize having a Nexus means getting the first run of all Android software, but I wonder if this is a bug in the build, or a radio that could use some work. But it does sometimes take longer to load things! I'm on very fast WiFi too!

I honestly don't know and would like to hear more specifics. I can tell you I've seen comments on this board the last couple fo days talking about massive WiFi battery drain as well.
I only know HellsCore adopted the newer M code for WiFi in his kernel and people were affected. He then had to create two builds of the kernel. One with newer WiFi code that didn't cause any issues for people and another build with the older WiFi code from L. Have you checked his G+ site?

No I haven't! I'll check that out! So that leads me to believe that it was a change in the new radio! He had to change it to code used in L radio so that may be it! Thanks for the info! I'll look into that some more!
Is it possible to flash the lollipop radio to test? I'd think you could. But I'm not 100%.

Hey guys! An update here, I just read through another post that was about this same issue, and someone in there said that downloading DNset from the play store fixes this issue! It changes your WiFi settings from ipv4/ipv6 to just ipv4. I did it and it's working so far, but I'm going to give it some more testing and see if it fixed! Try it out

Were you able to solve your slow page load issue?
I having same issue coming out of the box with a new N6P.
On TMO & Wifi - my old OPO had no issues.
But seems at least on LTE about town, my pages for social media & browsers are sloooooow.

Hey dude, well honestly it didn't seem to fix it. Placebo effect lol What I think it comes down to is just Marshmallow being rough around the edges at this point because I have stock rooted Marshmallow 6.0 on my Nexus 6 and have cyanogenmod 12.1 installed as a secondary ROM, When booted into cyanogenmod, pages load much faster and it's more responsive as far as I can tell! So, it must be a bug with Marshmallow! Keep in mind cyanogenmod 12.1 uses Android 5.1.1 as a base!

OnePlus 3T GPS Issue with Mobile Data and Location both "On"

My OnePlus 3T is running Build Number ONEPLUS A3000_28_180915. Android Version 8.0.0.
The issue is that my phone's GPS is working when Location is on and works with or without WiFi when I have Waze open.
But, once I use my Mobile Data + Location = my GPS now becomes intermittent especially in Waze. It keeps on connecting and disconnecting for some reason. I also have tried having my Location at High Accuracy and Device Only and the problem still exists.
I have already tried using GPS Status and Toolbox, Cleared my Cache, re-installed my OS and I still have the same result. Up to now, I have not yet been able to resolve this. I hope someone can help me with this issue.
Thank you.
I (along with a number of others) had a problem with GPS on a much older stock OOS build, around October 2017. This was a problem with the ROM having outdated aGPS data.
Not sure if that is similar to your issue. I didn't have any problems after that one build. There is a newer build than the one you are on (181206). So you might try to update, and see if that helps.

Thanks for this! I'll try updating to that this weekend if I have the time and I'll give an update here.
I honestly don't want to give up on this phone just yet even if it's already a number of generations late already.

I tried flashing the latest ROM from OnePlus for my Device and I even did a Restore Factory Settings and it still does not work. Would you have any other idea what could possibly be causing this? Thank you.
