Battery Life ? - ZTE Axon Pro

Hows the battery life for everyone so far ? My first full charge is 1h36m of Talk, 4h 7m of screen on time. About 14% left, so it can go to atleast 4h30m. Pretty good if you ask me. Pleased with the battery.

Nice. I'm about to start my own tomorrow. What's your screen brightness set to?
Sent from my A1P using Tapatalk

Adaptive On, mid-high. Im at 4% atm , screen on time reached 5 hours. Im impressed.

Battery life is good on this device. I'm not too heavy of a gamer but I do stream sports and listen to a lot of music. The other plus is it charges quite rapidly.

I'm having about the opposite. The auto brightness barely works so I have it around 50%. I'm getting max 3 hours of SOT, and for some reason, the phone keeps waking itself up, screen goes black but not off so it's more of a backlit black screen. To top it off, if I am playing a game, namely Final Fantasy Record Keeper, I go from 100% to 90% in about 10 minutes with the device getting hotter and hotter by the minute.

Dammm there must be def something wrong there, I havnt tried that game but i play a lot of Heartstone and its about the same as my Nexus 6. It gets hot ,but nothing out of the ordinary so far.

Yeah, it's a pretty internet intensive game, but it does keep your save state across devices, which is extremely nice. I'm hoping root + a custom rom will help alleviate the battery issues, but I'm also a very heavy user so I expect this more or less. It's tough to beat the customization/optimization of the OPO though.

What does Screen On Time mean?
Seeing some reviews of the phone and a couple of them give the Axon a bad battery life performance.

Exactly what you would think, how long the screen is illuminated.

There are longer lasting phones out there, but but by anymeans its bad. Im getting 5hours average on screen time plus an hour of talk.

nexus one battery life - this is it for my nexus

ive had a nexus one since the day it came put and since upgrading to froyo and now 2.2.1 my battery lifes been horrible. my normal settings are no wifi or bluetooth on. no sync. im running uv kernels and my battery life is still horrible. i recently sent my nexus to htc thinking it was a hardware problem. the new nexus dies just as fast. ive almost literally looked at every battery life thread and tried tips and still doesnt help. my phone doesnt last 8 hours let alone 24 hours. ive checked my battery use and the only thing over 10 percent is my display which im using auto brightness. any help would be so greatful because ive tried everything i know how to do

already replaced the battery before i got the new phone.
Dude same here. It's obvious the N1 is lacking in battery technology. What new phones are you considering?
that's definitely a dead battery, I've got my Nexus One since 2nd March and keep using it till now, still there is 92% of usable capacity.
Check the battery cal thread. We just finally hacked the nexus battery EEPROM chip and can tweak voltage etc. The changes got merged this week. So maybe some hope still...
well these things can definitely kill the battery extremely quickly if you use them a lot.
i personally don't have a problem with the battery life on mine on a normal work day because i only use it probably on average 5-10 min an hour for a 9 hour work day and by then i'm usually at 50-65% battery depending on how much i used my phone.
if you suspect that the phone is the problem and not the battery then try downloading currentwidget its a small widget that will tell you exactly how much power your phone is using in miliamps. it takes about 1 min for it to refresh so it does not work in real time but this is kind of nice because it allows you to see how much power its taking (or receiving if its on the charger) when its in idle
mine usually reads 3-5 mA when i unlock it so that is what its taking when its in sleep mode.
the most i've ever seen it take when draining the battery is about 465mA i would say that the average drain when i'm using it for browsing websites and using simple apps with the screen at half brightness is about 350-400ma or so
one thing is for sure though if you use an N1 heavily it can and will kill the battery in a matter of hours, if i play angry birds for example with my screen on half brightness after a few hours i'm at about 20-30% battery easily and the phone itself is very warm from the constant CPU use.
and btw the bad battery life is the combination of the AMOLED that takes massive power compared to an LCD and the 1st gen Snapdragon CPU clocked at 1ghz, battery life without the screen on and with minimal CPU use like streaming music for example or playing music with BT headphones i can go all day easily. it only drains like 5% an hour maybe a tad more but the difference is that the CPU is not working very hard and the screen is off completely.
AMOLED using more than LCD? What did you smoke mate? ^^
AMOLEDs have been made for low power consumption, especially for black colors...no way it uses more battery than my SLCD variant...

they can take less power with the proper screens yes, they are dynamic in their power consumption like plasma's are in that how much power they use is directly related to what they are displaying and what the brightness (or contrast in the case of plasma's) is set at.
LCD's are predictable and constant with their power drain.
AMOLED's are capable of consuming more power than LCD's of the same size if given the right display material (mostly white, mostly brightly lit content)
considering that most of the websites and even some apps i use on my nexus have white backgrounds it explains why my screen pulls so much power when i'm using it

There was a test done somewhere that showed that all the phones with AMOLED variants did the worst in battery life. Best battery? Droid x
true, white on white, amoled does use more battery...but meh...argh it killed my point xD
haha yeah you're right I guess Websites should have black background and green text, just like my terminal, gmail, etc. meh ^^

that sounds jsut like my phone. 5 to 10 minutes of use an hour and im at 60 percent. that cant be normal! angry birds for 10 minutes is like 8 percent battery loss. like i said i got a new battery for my old nexus one then noticed that the "issue" still existed so i got a new nexus one and my phone still dies rapidly. why is it that some nexus ones are better. i hear people say they get excellent battery life and to me on a brand new nexus one with a uv kernel my battery life is still horrible?
It's normal there is nothing wrong with your nexus one they suck battery if you use them heavily

Display

My screen display is killing my battery life. Any of you got the same problem as me?

How much is the display uptime on that?
Looks like you might be using a very high brightness level!
Yes tap on the display line to show more details of how many of your 14h the display was on? My guess is 3
Try lowering your screen brightness and using black backgrounds wherever possible. You can't blame such a gorgeous display for using power!
To be fair thats quite an average percentage and whats wrong with 14hrs uptime with around 50% battery left?? And think about it.. the screen is massive what do u think is gonna take up most of your battery?
My brightness setup is 0%. And you can see it's drop a massive amount of juice when the scree is on.

Those are fairly ordinary statistics. I don't see why you should be unhappy at all.
Your display should be at the top. I would worry if it wasn't.
My brightness is approx 30 %. Normally get well over a Day's use....but battery drain always leads with 'display'

Me to. Except on those days when people will not leave me alone. Those days, the Cell Phone usage sits squarely at the top ...
Yep, that looks like fairly standard usage to me.
Looking at my phone now, it is at around 17hrs, with about 3hrs screen on, and 44% left.
I normally get around 5hrs screen on time no matter how I use it. If I really hammer it, with internet, music, games, etc, I can drain the thing in less than 10 hours. If i take it easy, I can get almost 2 days out of it. Either way, I still get about 5 hours of screen on time in total.

5 hours display on time is very good. The best I have EVER gotten is 4, I typically get about 3.5, this is with screen brightness at 10%! How are you getting 5 hours? Custom Kernel or stock? What is your brightness set?

Non rooted stock firmware (LA4 until yesterday, now LB1)
Usually brightness set to 0% (unless i'm outside), Wifi and mobile data off when I'm not using it, ditto bluetooth and GPS.
Doing the same thing with my Dell Streak I used to get about 4 hours, so I'd say the battery life on the note is about 25% better in comparison.

Battery Life

Had my N7 on the charger all day while at work. Got home, unplugged it and fired up Splashtop to stream MLG Summer Arena (flash content) with my desktop. Screen at full brightness, headphones plugged in, and maxed volume. About 2.5 hours streaming and a half our of Dead Trigger, I'm down to 27% battery life.
Feels like the battery performance isnt anywhere near the 8 or 9 hours claimed by Google and Asus. Am I missing something here? Anyone else feel like battery drain is really high? Stock, un-rooted, updated to 4.1.1.
Have a trip in two weeks with a 4.5 hour plane ride and would be nice know my tablet could keep me entertained for the trip...

Even though I don't have mine yet I can say full brightness on screen can effect your battery life. I would suggest looking at what apps are running and possibly what could be eating your battery life.
Full brightness, thats the root cause. Try to reduce to, let say 50% ... Or as lowest as you feel OK.
When I use my gnex at home, I set to 15% ... Thats enough and still very bright.
Outside I use auto ...
Thats why I have a toggle widget for that ...
And I can have my gnex easily run for more than 48 hours stand by woth almost 4 hours screen on time

I dunno, that's weird. I've been playing with this thing all day and have 3 hours screen time and 65% left.. live wallpaper, Dead Trigger an hour, SuperGNES (FF3) two hours, XDA and web browsing. I'm on 50% percent brightness though.

100% brightest is way too bright indoors for me. Optimal indoors for me is about 30% and probably wouldn't go above 50%.
I've been getting 6 and a half hrs screen on time with over a day on battery, this has been 3 separate times. I use this tablet a lot, total time with me adding up that screen on time is over 25hrs maybe 30. I'm not counting the time when I first got it and ran it down several times before I was getting way better screen on time.

I use auto brightness and I'm getting way more than 10 hours use. Thats browsing and the occasional youtube.
Very impressed with the battery life and the whole Nexus experience.
My brightness is to 12%. More than bright enough for me. Getting around 9-10 hours with moderate to heavy usage. Very impressed with battery life.
I get better battery on CyanogenMod then I did on stock. Plus I can underclock to as low as 800mhz and it still runs like a champ.

I have been amazed at how long it last.Over 10 hours with headphones running listening to lots of songs, trying out different apps and then watched the movie.Still never got under the 30% mark on the battery.
I've knocked down the brightness to 50% and will see how well the battery lasts after charging last night. So far I've been off the charger for a little over an hour with 40 minutes of screen time, down to 91‰ battery life.
The stock ROM doesn't have a way to take screen shots, does it?
Seriously, you had brightness and volume at 100% while using Splashtop, then gaming (pretty high intensity stuff) and you're surprised it lasted less than a stated time for Web browsing at like 50% or less brightness?

I want to say the battery tests were performed at similar conditions while watching a movie for the eight to nine hour rating. Perhaps Splashtop pulling so much bandwidth on the network was a factor.
2.5 hours since unplug, 2 hours of screen time, down to 65% battery. YouTube, Chrome, Dead Trigger, and Facebook so far this morning.

Disable Wifi while you're in the air. That should make a difference.
my battery life has been spectacular. one other thing I noticed. when it charges to 100% (my nexus S never did), it stays there until you start using it. Best battery life of any mobile device I have had, ever. Except for my NOkia candy bar phones that stay charged for days.
I think my nexus may be defective. At first I left it at auto brightness, and drained the battery with 4 hours of screen time only web surfing. I've manually set the brightness to 35, and I still only get about 4.5 hours. This is just using Google chrome, no music. Throw in the occasional 10 minutes of world of too. Also what is standby drain for you guys? I lose 14% overnight, about 7 hours.

What screen brightness are you using? Do you close all apps that you aren't currently using? My screen is the biggest battery drain, but I keep the brightness to sub 40. Normally I would just use auto, but I had no luck with it.

Auto SYNC -> OFF
3G simultaneous with WLAN ON
Display -> AUTO
Whatsapp min.50 Messages per day.
And i have a girlfriend this means lot of sms and short calls thanks god short
The small charge line is when i put it in my PC to sync some musik and photos maximum 10minutes.
See Screenshot :
WHO CAN BEAT ME ?
Hmm, looks promising. Should last for 20 hours with my usage.
Unplugged mine at 9am this morning and have just put it back on charge @ 29% at 10.55pm GMT.
The length of the battery life was one of the main things for me, so so far so good, it will probably get better when its been charged a few times.
This is great to hear. Also was one of my main concerns. Plus don't forget with new SW updates it can only get better
Cheers,
Miki

Mine has lasted about 18 hours on the first 2 full charge cycles, but I've been hammering it:
WIFI always on, data always on.
Using it approx half the time (so 9 hours with screen on and CPU driving hard) for surfing the web, tweaking look and feel, RDP to home server and desktop PC, watching videos, using the camera, etc.
Today is my first day of normal use so we'll see how that goes.
Based on current usage, it's doing better than my Galaxy Note.

Generally when I've been using it continuously (with the WiFi on), it's been draining approx 10% per hour. Didn't read this thread until today so I'm approximating and haven't captured any screen shots of my battery usage, but I've pretty much been sat on my sofa playing about with my phone all day! Obviously there's been toilet breaks, sustainance, etc.
Believe me, don't believe me. I don't mind either way. Personally I'm really impressed with it so far and expect to get a couple of days between charges once the novelty has worn off and I'm back to using it normally.

It's hard to believe that this phone can get 9 hour on-screen time as other devices with the same CPU average around 4-5 hours which our device also gets.
I think you had 9 hour on the battery chart but the screen notice should be different, there's a option to see the on-screen time

I wasn't suggesting that I got a 9 hour value in the battery stats for the screen - just that I'd used it for roughly 9 solid hours (so the screen was on all the time I was using it.) Something that may have had a small bearing on my result was I had the brightness really low as I was indoors the whole time. Or maybe not - I don't have any imperical evidence about that either so maybe I'm fabricating that too!
I was just trying to contribute based on my findings, but to be honest I wish I hadn't bothered. I definitely won't be wasting any more time in this thread.

Actually you was "so 9 hours with screen on and CPU driving hard". I see what you did on the last sentence to make me feel guilty. But you did state 9 hours on screen in the brackets, which 'most' people assumption would be 9 hours screen on time.
I am thoroughly impressed with the battery life so far, though I am coming from an HTC One X which was very poor.
I've got 3h screen time with just under 70% battery left.

It's been on wifi most of the day and brightness is set to auto. It's still not dead yet, nowhere near even with 5h+ screen time. If this is what stock ICS can do, I can't wait to see what happens with a nice custom JB ROM.

That isn't really hard to get and the Sony battery is pretty good showing what apps are used, only thing I see is Screen on and Android System.
I can get 10 hour by reading books on my phone. Even the bad HTC One X battery can get over 10 hour just reading.
In daily use the phone is only about 3-5 hours, unless you live on the lowest brightness of the screen or the auto brightness. Obviously it be more if you just use wifi all day and not 3g.
I still doubt anyone can get 9 hours screen on time daily, heck phones like RAZR MAXX only achieve over 8-10 hours on screen time of daily use with a 3300mah battery.
I wanna see only 3g. Not wifi (on screen time)
I highly doubt most people use wifi when at work or going out
And what's the point of using wifi at home? (Maybe if lying down) otherwise you would use your computer

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the LG V20 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I am getting about 6hrs of sot will post pic later
Sot im getting right now
I dont know about you guys but im getting outstanding battery life. I'm going to do a test later today. Im going to charge my phone upto 100 (after it reaches 0 today) and then when 5 minutes after it says is 100, i will unplug it and i will put a 1440p video that last more than 8 hours and see how long it last with full brightness and wifi on. Then im going to post Very specific details about how everything went. Oh , aslo it will have speaker at its maximum
oh and just have in mind, i have 35 user apps installed, and some of them constantly sync (so it means more battery consumption)
Just over 3hrs. I dont think my phone has started optimizing apps or putting them in Doze.
My sot had been nothing short of spectacular.. I'm getting 5hr average... nexus 6 would barely reach 3... my g4 not even 3 also..I always wondered how people were getting above 4hrs.. Ive gotten 6+.....I jus miss stock Android
I get 4 hours with medium usage and leave everything on. Wifi, BT etc. Brightness is on Auto but it shows at 50% to 70% most of the time at work. It's my bright office...LOL

Same as I got yesterday... I don't do anything to try and extend battery life though (brightness always on auto, and I usually turn it up a little bit). Today will be my 2nd full day with the phone, and after 2 hours off the charger I had 99% left (only 5 minutes screen on time), but then I used the phone for about 15 minutes and it dropped quick to 94%)... Time shall tell, hopefully it is till just optimizing like you said...
I'm on my 2nd charge and like you guys above, I'm getting abysmal battery life.
I'll give the phone another week or so to optimise, and if it doesn't - it'll be sent back to T-Mobile with a piss poor rating in terms of battery life. What a shame if that's the case..
2 hr 17 minutes screen on time. 68% left, second screen turned on while sleep. Loving it! Restored all my app backup from Google, so its not a plain phone.
This is after my first full charge it's only gonna get better as I rarely install new apps.
Auto brightness at times, manual on others, as the brightness of this phone doesnt compare at all to my note 4.

First full day at work with the phone, and actually pretty light usage day and gotta say the battery is a bit of a let down so far. My shorter days at work over the weekend gave me some concerns, but today I'm at 2% left with 13h 28m standby and 2h 17m screen time. No calls, no videos. Maybe a dozen messages, web browsing, 20mins of spotify for commute. Frankly it "feels" like it lasts the same as my 2 year old m8.
10hours 45Minutes
I don't have a sim in mine so all my use is just on Wi-Fi. Indoor use with 30-40% brightness, 49 apps and services disabled. The day after this I did 1080p 60fps video streaming while plugged into my Bose speakers using the Hi-Fi DAC for a little over 5Hours and got about 6.5Hours total SOT. But so far 10hours 45 minutes is my record. Another time I did get right at 10 hours so it wasn't a fluke.
I'm not activating mine either so that's pretty sweet.

I concur as well. I'm also coming from a Note 4 and the V20 is definitely brighter at 100%.

Hey, can you share any settings you may have altered to receive such SoT. I'll be lucky if I get 4. I used to get 6-7 hours on the Note 7 I had.
Yeah the battery life sucks, and I like everything else about the phone except ****ty LED screen (I know why they didn't use AMOLED, not cost, but because with no physical home button, the buttons would burn images in AMOLED, LED won't). In any case the true test of a battery is Pokemongo at 100% brightness (which you need with this screen at all times to look half way decent). Note 7 5 hrs, Note 4 4 hours, V20 3 hours, all at 100% and same resolution/settings. So yeah, the battery life sucks, end of discussion. And my phone is a week old, no bloat and settled. Another quirk is sometimes Antutu gets 147k excellent score and sometimes it gets half that, for no reason at all, as well as 3dMark being horrible as well for some reason, half of what it should be.
This is my third LG phone (Had the V10 and G5 before), and the battery performance appears very strong on this. On my first full, non-setup charge, and using my normal work activities (lots of emails, texts, calls, and periodic social media), here's what I got
Total time on battery: 54 hrs 52 min
Total call time: 3hrs 2 min
Total SOT 2hrs 44min
That's great life a regular business user. Also, the screen is way brighter than the V10 and G5.
I've been getting phenomenal standby time on this phone, thanks to the new and improved Doze, better than any other phone I've ever had actually. I'm just not getting great SOT, like many others out there and I can't figure out why. I've had the phone for about a week now and all of the apps should've been optimized by now, I think. Anyone else having similar issues?

Dmarco, a factory reset could be the solution
Guys it is simple. It is the same Snapdragon 820 in about 10 other devices with similiar battery sizes. But the V20 will get A LOT less screen on time, my estimation is 25-50% less depending on how bright the screen is. I need the screen at 100% and low comfort blue filter to make the screen even kinda decent, like a Samsung at 70% brightness. Anyways the LCD screen on the V20 eats A LOT of battery power, it can't compete with an AMOLED. That said, the only benefit is that in 2 years your screen won't have any burn in and be worthless.
