I'm cursed.... I had the same bug with stock 5.1.1 and now with 6.0 (sideload update + factory restore ) all the emojis are still missing...
OS: 5.1.1/6.0
Keyboard: Google Keyboard / swiftkey Keyboard
Messaging Application: stock messenger/ messenger AOSP / textra SMS
All emojis inside WhatsApp works fine.
Any magic solution??

apparently the problem is the carrier company...
i can also confirm that is a Carrier issue. I've tested with 2 other Carriers and everything works perfect... That's a shame for Vodafone Portugal

How would you replace a system application such as SMS or Keyboard
With root. You cannot replace system apps in any version of Android without first doing it on the computer and after the phone has been rooted.

You download something like chompSMS from the market. You could probably find swype too, if you searched.
Swype isnt in the market, but you can sign up for the beta (check Android Central for the story)
i've installed chompsms but is there anyway of turning off the vanilla SMS prog so that i don't receive my texts in 2 progs ?
I haven't rooted my N1.
cheers.
I've just turned off notifications in the vanilla app, i'm assuming this may work.

I have a rooted Nokia X2, and somehow the stock Messaging app (MMS.apk) has gone missing from my phone. I am unable to send/receive text messages on my mobile at all :crying:
Can someone help me here by providing the stock messaging app apk installer?
Any other way to fix this will also be appreciated
Thanks in advance!
Note to mods: Apologies for posting this again in this forum (had posted two days back in the X2 Apps and Themes forum). You can delete that thread now.
Install Google Messenger from the Play Store
Thanks Rahim, that fixed the issue and I can send/receive SMS now!

android version 6.0
stock LG messaging app
google keyboard
this phone is my wife's. when she types an 8 and also a dash it comes up as a pink musical note (examples attached, one pic is what my wife sees and the other is what i recieve). When i receive it, it comes in correctly.
it does this with both the google keyboard or the stock lg keyboard. changing the default sms app to Google Hangouts it will then work as it should. So i figure the problem is with the stock messaging app.
I have cleared the cache for the lg stock messaging app, google keyboard, and then for the system. will clearing data for the lg messaging app delete all her text messages?
any help would be appreciated
Hi all. I'm having an issue where when I try tapping the microphone button on the stock keyboard the voice input thing pops up but then quickly disappears. Voice input is working in other ways just not from the keyboard. Has anyone else experienced this? Oh, it also does the same thing on Swiftkey.
SOLUTION: so it turns out this only happens while using the stock messaging (sms) client. Voice input works when I switch over to using, the very similar, Google messenger app. Also in Facebook messenger, email apps etc. Therefore it is not a problem with voice input or with the keyboard exactly, but how the stock messenger app interacts with the keyboard.
Anyways I'm curious to see if this happens to others with the Idol 4 (non-S). Comment below with your experience and hit the thanks button if this has helped you.
You should try the Google keyboard, it has swiping feature and on my phone the mic button works
I think the Google keyboard IS the stock keyboard. But yes I I've tried it.

No I think the default keyboard is the "Android keyboard" has no swipe. Google keyboard is different.
No issues here using both stock Google keyboard or SwiftKey.

Thanks. I must have a faulty unit. A factory reset doesn't fix it.

Yes i can confirm that the stock sms app is at fault. i use Textra for sms so i never noticed the issue.
