I flashed a ROM and it wouldn't boot so I restored my 5.1 ROM with twrp. Now somehow my phone doesn't open the files through file explorer, it sees all the file names, but when I click on them, it says that there empty. The phone recognizes that there is space used in settings and twrp also sees all the files and I even flashed the ROM that worked, but I still can not access files after a reset and new flash. Also when I try to download off chrome, it now says no SD card found as toast message. Is there anyway of making file explorer see the files without rest of sd card, or even a fix with a reset? What about rsd back to stock?

I fixed the issue by going into recovery and selecting fix storage and it worked. It did reset my phone but at least I can use my storage again. My computer wouldn't even see the files. Glad I'm back had me wooried

Since the first time I flashed my phone, I've always had this folder named "lost.dir" which I can't seem to get rid of even after deleting it, it still reappears after I reboot the phone. Any help on how to make it disappear.

This folder is generated by default. This will contain any corrupted files that you may have on Internal and external SD cards. This should be quite harmless. It usually gets created when you reboot your phone or you remove the phone from USB storage mode.
Sorry for not answering the question to the point. But you can safely ignore it.
As the above poster said ,it is always there it cannot be deleted, but you can and should delete any files on however.
If the files keep appering after a reboot that means you may have problems with your filesystem, the most common cause of files inside that folder is when you remove or don't unmount the cards before unplugin them.
When the phone boots it checks the file system, if it finds any corrupted file they get moved to that folder, thin of it as Chkdsk for windows.
Thank u both. I've learnt that today. Cheers

Hey everyone,
My friend gave me his tab p1000... but I cannot seem to remove apps or even google user account even after i have:
- Reset the phone
- Flashed stock rom v5 ROM with ODIN (with repartition and also flashed dbdata).
- I also tried NAND Erase All, which soft bricked the tab but i was able to get it back.
Even with all this, all the apps are still there.. when the tab loads up.
The Apps keep crashing every minute though.. so they are not stable.
--- Things Note:
1.
After flashing stock rom, when it enters recovery i get the following errors:
part(1): Checksum error
MMC verification failed
and
cannot find: /preload/app folder
2.
There are some weird files under the internal memory root folder that cannot be deleted.
Well you can delete them but they come right back up when you remount the internal drive(16gb).
Also the application folders cannot be deleted.. they reappear once you remount the internal drive.
the files are:
- Copy of Shortcut to (1/2/3/4).lnk
- glweax.exe
- glweax.scr
- x.exe
- xxx.dll
- zjroic.exe
- zjroic.scr
-xjdqob.exe
3.
There is an app called - Perfect Applock - that might have something to do with this.. Not sure.
I have read in forums, to put the phone in flight mode and restart it, then try to go to app manager within 30sec to uninstall the app.
i tried that but it still doesnt work. the App still exists..
btw, i have also tried removing the apps via app manager, that doesnt work. although it says sucessfully uninstalled.
when you reboot the tab, all the apps are present.
4.
I installed root app using superoneclick so that i can install a root explorer app - but it kept crashing.
---
My guess, is that there is a virus, or something that is recreating the apps. or not granting access to where the apps are stored (guessing in /preload/app).
i have read forums and some people said it might be a faulty internal storage.. i did the checks(some commands using adb) to verify but it was negative.
so i dont think the internal storage is bad.
Right now i am stuck... the tab has stock rom v5 installed right now.. not rooted and with 3e recovery.
any help will be greatly appreciated.. thank you in advance.
Wipe the rom...

correct me if i am wrong.. but isnt wiping a rom the same as flashing a rom??
i have flashed the stock rom.. and the apps werent deleted.
if its not the same, then how do i wipe a rom??
---
Just to add, i have noticed that i cannot format the internal storage.
- tried formating by phone (settings > sd card and device storage > format usb storage). it completes but nothing gets deleted.
- tried formating from computer, - it doesnt complete.
- tried formating with partition wizard.. it completes succesfully but nothing gets deleted.
Hence i think the issue is - something is preventing access to internal storage..
is there any app/adb command that i can force format the phones internal storage??
Stubborn data/apps is a sign of internal storage going bad.

Formatting from computer formats your sd card..and no, flashing a rom via recovery does not necessarily mean a data wipe...try following ChrisCTX's guide...search for it

Hey Gogol,
thaaanks a lot. The guide worked after several tries.
Main problem was flashing cm9 pics rom. It wouldn't complete. But I kept trying and it worked.
I now hv cyanogen mod 9 with ics. Using the tab to reply right now.
One issue tho is that the camera cannot store in internal storage. It needs an sdcard.
Is there a work around on this.
I looked under settings-storage and the internal storage is recognized.
And also under camera settings internal storage is chosen as storage location but it cannot save there.
Any Ideas? Guess I Have to find a way to make internal storage and sdcard storage the same.
Thanks

i forgot but it looked for a guide to switch or exchange internal and sd-card.
so the tablet will think its using the internal storage but its actually using the sd-card.
its somthing like this:
If you take a root file browser and edit /system/etc/volb.fstab, there are two sections you need to edit. "dev_mount emmc /mnt/emmc" changes to "dev_mount emmc /mnt/Edvard" and "dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard" changes to "dev_mount SD card /mnt/emmc".
i cant confirm this is what i did.. but i am sure i edited the volb.fstab... i had to google around for a while till i found one that works for me.
make sure you backup your volb.fstab before you make changes.
Note: i found cyanogen mode to be slow running from sd-card.. so i changed to a regular gingerbread rom. and i was able to edit the volb.fstab with sucess.. and the camera was able to save pics.. the tablet just always had the - NO SD-CARD icon at the top all the time. coz it thought the sd-card is the internal storage.. and the internal storage which i removed was the sd-card - which i destroyed.
hope this helps.
Before I upgraded from a 4.1 to a 4.2 based rom, I copied all my files from my sd card and then flashed the Rom. Then I formatted my phone's storage so I wouldn't have that weird 2 sd card file system going and so that I could see all my old files which I pasted back onto my phone. When I boot into cwm, and want to install a .zip, I see a couple folders such as the cwm folder and venom folder and legacy folder, and I find that my sd cards files are not under root and I have to go to /0. If I go into a file explorer such as we file explorer, I can't see any files under the the place where those several folders are. Any ideas?

Noticing same thing...
I've just been searching these threads for the exact same issue. Wondering if it would be possible to take a nandroid, erase system and everything and either restore or reload my room from scratch to fix this? My phone says it's running low on memory while it still shows almost 10gb free when attached to my computer. I assume this is the problem...

Yeah, ive tried to format my phones internal storage but the problem is still there. Though it does free up a lot of space when I do it. I think it says it is low memory because there are duplicate files of everything on your sd card
I recently rooted my phone using the Chinese vroot tool and then installed SuperSU to remove the Chinese su. After that I installed busybox, pimp my rom, system cleaner and no bloat free to remove all the crap Samsung put on this phone. Now think I might have gone a bit overboard with my cleaning... The problem I have is that i can take a few photos, then close the app, re-open the photo app and then if I try to take a photo it won't save it to the sd card until I unmount and remount the sd card. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks for your help

The problem is more complicated than i thought. The phone recognizes the extrenal SD but only in read-only mode. I can only briefly write to it before it gets back at read-only mode
I reflashed the stock firmware with Odin but the problem is still there.
It goes so far that if I connect the phone to my PC with USB the external SD Card is found but it doesn't show any folders or files when I select it.
And after a little further investigation I found that I can take pictures as normal (save to external SD) untill i open the file explorer, then the external SD card only gets read-only!! Frustrating!
Update: looks like the sd card itself is the problem. I put in a different one and everything seems normal.
I'll try to do a chkdsk on the old one.
It was a corrupted file system. Fixed it and everything is back to normal.
Hello guys I need help. I updated my rooted xsp via pcc yesterday to the latest 4.3 but I did not manage to work. It resulted in bootloops. So with no other choice, I just used flashtool for the first time and it worked. However, I lost all my files in internal storage. Cause I thought flashing will only erase phone data's.
Is there anything would you guys can recommend? data recovery software that can scan our internal memory or some other methods cause I really need to recover some files in there. I Google searched for A couple of hours and none of them worked
Thanks in advance!

I don't remember any program right now, but I know that you MUST NOT delete or transfer any file to your internal storage until you recover it.
Try flashing a custom recovery like TWRP that will allow you to mount USB storage. Then try using a program like AVG file recovery or data recovery in Avg boost speed suite. Avoid writing new data to avoid data being over written.
