Hi I have upgraded my Galaxy S to Froyo with "official" firmware, everything is running ok, I also installed the OneClick LagFix (this change my quadrant from 892 to 1915) but now I only have 400Mb free in the phone memory, I would like to move some apps to the SD but I get the following error "Error moving app. There is not enough memory" (Possible this is not the correct message, i get this message in spanish )
I dont have a external SD, but I have 14Gb free in the internal SD, is not possible move apps to this memory?
Thx in advance
install Froyo, then you can run apps from External SD

yes, but all the apps needs to be re-installed and select External SD during install
or you can force them to External and hope it works with those 3rd party programs that moves apps to External SD
Thx AllGamers, I would like to install in the internal SD partition that have 14Gb free, because I donĀ“t have external SD
Thx in advance
there are tons of 3rd party apps to choose from that helps you manage where you want your apps to go, check these out:

This Apps runs OK only if you have a External SD, but I'd like to move to internal SD in Galaxy S
APPs into external SD card
I've a question, is possible to install the apps into the external microSD card?
I know that Froyo permit to do it but only into the internale SD card and i want to use the external one (i've bought a 32Gb for it!!)
Have you any solution?
Thank you!!
I've tried to send my apps to the internal sd card but whenever I click move to sd card it tells me I havnt got enough memory so I thought they go on the externel sd card?

I quit trying this.. anyone knows why we can't move it to SD?
-----------------------
Doc ROM XXJPO 7.6.2
SpeedMod K9

[Q] App2SD & Data
SGS i9000 16Gb & 32Gb SD card
Using DocRambone rom 7.62 & SpeedMod kernel v9
Q. I can move an app to SD w/o problem but the data file that is consuming a large portion of my internal memo stays on internal SD. Is there a way to move the app and it's data to the SD?

I too have a 32Gb card installed.
You can move the apps and there are a number of 3rd party apps that will do this for you quickly or you can do it from settings in managing the applications. I found that this was not the space saving solution that I thought it would be.
It is the data that needs to be moved, e.g., DoggCatcher is my news reader and it had about 3Gb worth of data. Moving the app didn't save any space but using the setting in the program to move the data did the trick. Play around with moving a couple of apps and see what you get and check to see if the app will allow you to move the data to a new location.
Some apps simply stock pile a lot of data. My eBook program, Audible which I can't do without is another one - over 1.5Gb. I'll contact Audible about this one.
some times when you check on sites like AppsBrain
it will tell you if the App is App2SD compatible
meaning it can be isntall to SD also data store on SD
as mpierce said, it's pretty useless to force a program to SD, meanwhile the heavy stuff remains in the phone internals

Can everyone please read before replying?? He wants to move his apps to the INTERNAL SD (so do I) and NOT the external SD. This is not possible as far as I'm concerned. Got the same error as luishchorradas.

Hi
actually u cannot move ur apps to the internal sd card as internal sd card (16 gb) is only meant for media (videos, songs etc.) and if u want more 16gb for ur apps u will hv to put an external sd card (galaxy s supports 16gb) and ya if u move to sd it will move to external sd card.
Thnx

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. But I don't believe "move to SD" moves anything to the external SD card. The apps move to the internal SD card. Yes unmounting the SD card disables apps, but if you browse through the internal card, you'll still see them sitting there.
Me to, same problem, no google search helps :-(

sorry for necro'ing but it does indeed move it to the external SD, i've tried moving a couple apps with my Galaxy S to the, as it says, "move to USB memory" but as i check the free memory, it used the external SD memory, not the internal.
The phone seems to have about 7gb inner memory but now its full howto get everything working on my 16gb sd memory card instead? i try app2sd but it only see the inbuilt memory?? Please any ideas?
The 16gb card you set in is accessible at /sdcard/_ExternalSD/
So if you want to stuff your apps onto the SD card, try to stuff it into that folder, if possible.
just copy?
I tryed to cut everything from internal memory to extern memory card but then nothing is working?
Must be an way to install everything to external memory? 6gb internal memory is to little 2 navigation apps with maps ,,
please someone must have an solution?
your navigation programs should give you the opportunity to specify where maps should be stored. Just set that to the path that LordGabriel posted and you should be fine.
They should have a setting like that, otherwise all SGS owners would already be complaining (the SGS has an internal SD card too)
Just a quick question. I've followed tutorials and I believe i've rooted the phone (EE UK S3LT3) I've got a 16GB memory card included. Do I need to partition/format the card so I can get things moved to the SD card as much as possible?

If it was included then it should be ready to go, you can store all kinds of media on your SD card but apps require a 3rd party application such as Titanium Backup to be moved to the SD card or you could install a mod that makes your phone think your SD card is your internal so all apps install there default

What mod would that be? (if you don't mind me asking)
Also I'll be more specific about my original post. I had the xperia play before. I folowed this tutorial for that:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
That worked fine and everything moved to the SD card as far as I know. What I mean is should I format my card like that? I know it's not formatted or anything it's just sitting there full of space unused
The mod is called directory bind (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889550)
It's needed if you want to move files to your SD. Unlike other phones, the s3 doesn't offer an option to move whatever you want to your Sd card. Formatting won't change anything. You have to use the above tool to trick your phone into thinking your extSD is the internal memory and vice versa.
There is no simple way of just moving all your data/apps to the SD card, unfortunately
I think i'm doing it with the mod now. I tried to move data with link2sd but that was a no no. That the only thing with this phone it's not easy to move things and what not.
Hello masters,
I recently root my moto G because the storage is not enough when I want install some new apps. 8G is too small!
I want to use my 32G external sd card as the internal sd card. I found some people use root explorer to modify the vold.fstab, but I didn't find this document in my phone.
By the way, now I install the system-The Titan Prime ROM[APRIL 26](Version 1.1.0 STABLE). I don't know if the 5.0.2 has the vold.fstab document.
Anyone can help me to solve my problem?
Thanks a lot! I come from China, and I used to reading some experience post which is translated from XDA. Now I just go directly to the headquarter, feeling good.
Hoping someone can help me..........
Please come and help me~
There is nobody............
Don't think changing fstab is safe.... But I'm a noob.
It's better to move obb files to external using folder mount
I personally wouldn't even try. It's iffy at best and some apps just won't operate correctly that way. Just go into your apps settings and move what will move to the SD card then go into the storage settings from time to time and delete the cache. Even moving some apps to SD will give you problems so you may have to move some back if you experience problems.

Hi, I have a Moto G 2014 with Stock 5.0.2 rooted, and I bought a 32GB SD Card a few days ago. The thing is that everything is still going to the internal memory, instead of the SD (photos, downloads, etc.), so I want to know if it's a way to make everything write on the SD card without messing up the phone (I heard I can mount SD in /sdcard changing init.rc but I don't want to do that). I also want to move my WhatsApp chats to the SD too, hehehehe (WhatsApp data is in the internal :'c)
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
For the photos and videos part, you can select from the camera application if you want to store them in the internal memory or on the SD card. For applications I think they are installed in the internal memory by default but you can move them after installation on the SD card by going to settings -> apps -> touch app -> move to SD card. To change the default installation location you need the android SDK installed on your PC and adb and then to edit a file. But I do not recommend this since the SD card is not accessible while the phone is connected to the PC. This will make applications that always run to work improperly(widgets, Facebook, etc. might generate a lot of errors because of it).
I think it's a Xposed module for that.

if you're rooted then try link2sd from play store. you need to have an ext partition on your sd card for this to work.
if you are not rooted then you will have to manually create symlinks to the files on the sd card.

Better try Link2SD. The procedure to turn your external SD to internal storage causes a lot of trouble in most cases.
There are also scripts that link the possible apps and libraries automatically to the SD card when installing them.
