What mods are you trying to install? I can tell you that some modifications don't like Sony firmwares... And that could probably be the cause.

SoftkeyZ was working for me on Android 4.4 CyanogenMod, so it probably has not been made to work with Sony firmware. And for the second mod, you already have the answer. It is only compatible with Android 4.4 and causes a system crash when installed on Android 4.3.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do.. Unless you know how to modify SystemUI and change the icons or port the Xperia Keyboard to android 4.3.
But, if you really want these mods, then install Android 4.4 CyanogenMod because it is compatible with a lot more Xposed mods and other applications..

You don't necessarily need to unlock bootloader to install custom rom, but I would personally suggest you to stay away from installing a custom rom if you have never done so earlier on any other phone and you aren't really an advanced user. Sony's 4.3 is quite good if you are lucky enough not to face lags. I would like to suggest some good modules for sony firmware which you might want to try out -
1) GEM Xperia xposed
2) Flat style coloured bars (for lollipop styled statusbar and navigation bar colouring)
3) GravityBox (you need to be a bit careful with this one)
4) Hide stamina mode icon
5) SEMC phone patcher
6) Xperia flip settings (replaces xperia toggles in statusbar with cyanogenmod styled ones)
Don't forget to read the module description before installing to understand what it does. Enjoy (Y)

Hi there i wanna ask for help can some one mod xperia sp kitkat system ui there just need one fix blured status bar icons and i dosn't know how to fix that and its anoing can some one help ?
Hey,
Since our Xperia SP can't taste official kitkat, I decided to deodex my stock firmware and flash the Xperia Z2 4.4.2 systemui ported for 4.3 in another thread...
I am really satisfied with that, just a small question though...
The status bar is semi-transparent. I would like it to be completely black, like the 4.4.2 firmware for the Xperia E1, or the 14.3.A.0.681 for the Xperia Z1, again on 4.4.2...
I've searched basically everywhere, but every 4.4.2 systemui port has a semi-transparent status bar, unlike the original darker one...
Stupid question maybe
Thanks in advance...
Hey,
I am trying to make my Xperia SP look as close to the Xperia Z3 as possible. I already flashed the SystemUI port, a custom theme, the apps, etc...
What I'm missing though is the transparent persistent google search bar from the original Z3 pictures...I've searched everywhere and didn't find such a port for other devices...
Have you guys found anything similar?
Thanks in advance
