SIM card problem after rooting - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, i have a big problem. i rooted my phone and put a custom cyanogen mod with locked bootloader. it was all good till i found out that my sd card won't mount but it works on other phone. nice s****y cyanogen mod. then all problems came up. i couldn't do nothing with that sd card, couldn't do backup so i went to flash it to stock, somehow i factory reseted it and i thought i have a stock rom and that's all good and that i won't have problems at all.
but suddenly, i didn't have gsm signal so i rebooted the phone. after reboot, it says that there's no sim card. so i downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-sony-original-pure-stock-rom-12-1-1-t2859279
and tried that, but nothing better, problem is the same with sim card. that lights at the start of booting tell me that cyanogenmod or root is still here.. the normal light on booting is only 1 light in the middle of light bar (red i think) and i still have blue red and green that flicker when the phone is booting. so please, if there's anybody who's willing to explain it to me, step by step, what to do, what to download.
i tried with flashtool, i don't get it, so please don't give me the link for that which already exists 'cause i don't understand s***, because of bad explanation for noobs.
just want to get it back to stock/normal again and get the hell out of this forum and stuff. thanks

Pull sim card and insert again, about the rom, the only way is through flashtool

SD card slot not working whatsoever, HELP!!!

so as my sig says, i have a rooted mt3g 32b, and up to yesterday it was workign perfectly. i was wiping the happyrom .95b to install a themed superE rom. i had phone plugged into usb, had full battery, looked as if it flashed fine.. nothing hung up, none of the normal warning signs. I tried to reboot, and suddenly, it started a SINGLE BOOTLOOP and then booted into the rom. when it loded up, i found the SD card slot wouldnt recognize, and the sim card wasnt recognized either. Spent about an hour trying to do any unix commands enatefox could think of to fix it. ended up having to use part of /data as a symbolically linked "sd card" after i rebooted, was able to use the phone as in the sim card slot worked again, although the SD slot was no more... has anyone had this happen or can anyone think of a fix? if so, gtalk me or email me or pm me.. whatever
[email protected]
thanks,
Drew
p.s.
Card is not fried, im using it in my new mt3gs and shes working perfectly
I hate to say it but it sounds like a hardware failure to me... With any software bug... a complete wipe followed by stable rom fixes everything.
Good luck.
dammit>.< i need a fix of some sort.. gotta be a fix somewhere
it seems its only a half ass problem... i downloaded the sapphimg.nbh to the sd card through my mt slide, transferred cards to the mytouch, went into hboot, it loaded up the image, and unrooted me fine... so the issue seems almost like firmware? i could be wrong, but i think the firmware is half assing the sd card slot

Nobody's going to email you. You ask here, you'll be answered here. If you don't like that, your problem.

No... really? You thought the card might be fried?
Lets see... you install a new haxored system image, and stuff doesn't work. What conclusion can you come up with from this? That whatever you did broke the phone! You either screwed up the install, or the system image you chose to install is a piece of garbage that doesn't work!

[Q] Bricked Milestone, stuck at Motorola logo

Hi,
I managed to brick my Milestone, terminally I'm afraid, but the symptoms are different than what I see around the forum so they might interest someone else.
So, I first backed up everything with GOT Nandroid and Titanium Backup then modded CyanogenMod 7 RC4 0.08-11.04.05 (Android 2.3.3) successfully, except that the SIM was locked and would not unlock, although it works in another phone. This was a bug supposedly fixed in version 6 of Cyanogen...
Browsing the forums, the only thing that made a bit of sense was that maybe the GSM frequency was set to the wrong value. There is a Nandroid mod (but not GOT) that allows you to change that so I entered GOT Nandroid again. Since it had no such option, I Rebooted. Then, the fun begun.
The phone got stuck on the Motorola logo and no button, not even Power, worked anymore. After waiting for many minutes with no progress, I took out the battery - that made a change , the phone shut down. I then put it back - the phone immediatelly, no, instantly, cause there's no delay as when you were powering it up, lights up with the same Motorola logo. Tried several times, always the same behavior.
I left it booting (but also connected to the charger) for a whole night, no change.
The phone is not seen by the PC when connected to USB. It won't reboot, normally or to recovery. Buttons won't work at all. Yeah, tried with or without the SIM and the sdcard, no change. Tried to start without battery, just the charger, doesn't work.
Useless to say, I am getting bored of that Motorola logo
I suspect that the bootloader in the internal memory got corrupted. Can this be flashed even if the device is not seen by the PC (I mean by the RDSLite installed on it)?
Cheers
When the charger is connected to the phone try at the same timeull out and pull in the battery while holding the buttons who will get you in the OR
Yup, it worked. So first I got the battery with a question mark. Then I put in the battery and I got a battery at 60%. Since I was holding Power+Camera, it continued to the Recovery mode and now I have a working Milestone with Cyanogen mod!!
Thank you a lot, Mikicishte.
I still have to see about the initial locked SIM problem... but that will be mostly fun.

Have you tried to factory reset the Milestone, to see if after that the SIM is accessible again ?
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/14099-sim-card-not-detected-after-factory-reset/
You could try also to install a logger application catlog for example (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nolanlawson.logcat&feature=search_result ) to see in the logs if you can find out more details to help you with the investigations...
I did the factory reset as part of installing the mod.
Even if the post quoted reports the wipe as the source of the problem and not as a solution, I just wiped again with no good result.
Will try catlog.

or maybe you could try to use an unlock tool to see what error is reporting

External SD not recognised on galaxy s?

Hey all, my 16gb sandisk sd card isn't being recognised anymore, anyone know why?
It says it read the SD card, and it got to 100% complete, yet my apps dont load to the menu list anymore :/
Help please
Also, when I try and boot up either Launcher7 or Twlauncher the phone restarts on me..
It's not rooted, its not a custom rom, just froyo 2.2.1 :/
does windows recognise it ?
if so, move all files to PC, put SD card back in phone and try to format, if you cant format it under windows and try again
ok i connected it to my pc, copied everything over, then i formatted the card (fat32) and yet it still doesnt want to read it.
ive tried all i can do and yet nothing works. my card is 100% authentic so i know that isnt the problem, yet nothing else is fixing it
thats strange. if you was on a custom rom / kernel there are things we could do to get it working.... but your not lol.
under settings, have you tried to unmount / mount ??
does anything pop up in the notification bar when you insert / remove external sd ?
really? what custom roms? i moved from 2.2 to darkys 9.5 within a week, but then went to 2.2.1 for warranty reasons.
ive tried unmounting and remounting, just like inserting it, restarting the phone etc., all it says is media scan running, gets to 100%, media scan complete.
it says i have 8.56gb of 14.2gb free which is normal, and all the files come up on the computer, but in my menu they arent there, just a bunch of empty spaces.
no matter how long i leave it running nothing gets recognised
that is weird
have you tried a factory reset, i dont know any other options.
you havent downloaded any apps that could of caused this recently have you ?
no i haven't tried a factory reset yet just cause i don't want to lose all my apps. i had 10 pages of apps and id rather not want to reinstall 8 of the missing pages, but if i cant fix it ill go into download mode soon and perform a factory reset, if that doesn't work i'm gonna exchange the card for a new one.
i'm 100% certain that no apps caused this. i haven't installed anything new for about a week. just turned the phone off then back on and now its broken.
thanks for your help, ill let you know how i go
Yea keep me informed. Have u got any backup apps that you could try and see if they backup the "missing " apps
Sent from Miui powered SGS
i think my phone is the problem. i've just tried using a new sd card and that one is also not being read
ill try a factory reset later, and then if that fails ill try new firmware to see how that goes.
Just finished flashing froyo 2.2, then 2.2.1 and neither worked.
how do i go abouts fixing this with a custom rom?
i think the problem lies with the hardware not the software.
like you said earlier you tried another sd card and that didnt work either.
the options in a custom rom are just manually mounting / unmounting and fixing permissions in recovery, but i dont think this will help.
your on stock ROM now so i would just go to your nearest SSC and tell them to fix it under warranty
thanks for helping me man
ill be taking it in soon as a repair, however, my friend said it couldve happened cause my battery went to 0% and the phone just shut of and broke something, is that true? i'm not sure cause I can still access the card by pc.

[Q] Can't Turn On The Phone With An SD Card Installed

Hi everyone,
I bought this phone recently and first thing I did was put in an microSD but when I powered it on it would display the logo(the x), the screen would go black and the phone would display the logo again. It would loop in this manner indefinitely but everything would be fine when I removed the sd card.
When the phone was running I found out that the phone was running a custom ROM, so I don't know if this could be part of the reason why I have this problem. First thing I thought to do was restore the phone to its official ROM and factory settings but as this is the first time doing these things(flashing etc) I ran into problems.
So basically my question is: is my problem unique(hope not) and how can I fix this?
Hope someone can provide some help, thank-you
kind regards

Have you formatted the SD card yet? Try to format the card to Fat32 and see if it recognizes the card.
yes I have tried that but still no luck
thanks

[q]SDcarderrors

sometime ago my sdcard kept being unexspectly removed, a friend of mine had a theory that it might be a software problem.
So he tried to install cyanogenmode on it coming from whatever system I had before.
Suddenly the SDcard worked, and I could get the new OS on.
now on cyanogenmode it can't decide whether it wants to work or not, it seems to stop working whenever i'm doing something with video.
The SDcard always comes to work again when my phone completely runs out of power, but then after sometime it stops.
my friends theory is now that the sdcard might be bricked, how do I unbrick?
i tried formatting the sdcard and this is the rom that i'm using

Your sdcard is not bricked. Just take off the back cover, take the sd card out. Blow gently on sd card and slot and then put sd card back in. Normally the problem goes away.
