I'm starting a bounty for the unlocking and root of the ZTE Axon Pro, so those who are willing to pledge a donation for the developers time please post here your pledge. Hopefully this will be the start to something great for our device and reaching its full potential please post it in this thread. Please everyone spread the word we need some good helpful Devs to crack this thing, at least give us root privileges in the meantime.
I Pledge $25 for unlocked bootloader on the ZTE Axon Pro.
We would be happy with having root on our device for now so if any developer here could make that possible your time and effort is very much appreciated. Thanks to anyone in advance!!! This would be appreciated so much if anyone could help us with getting the ZTE Axon Pro Phone moving in the right direction finally.
Hopefully more people will get involved in this bounty, we have a nice phone with great potential, but with an unlocked bootloader and root this can be a really special phone. Hopefully more people will get involved because even us just getting root privileges would be a huge step in the right direction!!! This phone is to nice to be stuck in neutral for as long as its been, it has a lot of potential. If we had Root and the right Kernel, an unlocked Bootloader and Roms this would be one awesome phone with all flagship specs. Even though the Stock Rom on our device is not really that bad, in most aspects it just needs some tuned and overhauled with the right tweaks getting it running at its full potential, the good developers here on XDA could do that and make this a a really special device. Custom Roms would be amazing!!!
I really don't see how this phone has not gotten any attention, It has better specs than most phone released including the NEXUS 6P, when I bought it from my friend I thought I would come here and see that the developers here on XDA would have already have custom recoveries, and roms. The phone is designed really nice, a full aluminum body phone, a great 2.5D display at 5.5 inches - 1440 x 2560, Snapdragon 810 - Adreno 430, and 4 GB of Ram, that's nice!!! I thought I got a steal for $200. I just hope we can get some developers who will get involved and hopefully save this phone!!!
Thanks for any help!!!
HERE ARE LINKS TO ZTE WEBSITES I'M ASKING FOR EVERYONE TO ADD ANY LINKS THAT YOU KNOW OF SO WE CAN LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD IF YOU HAVE MORE LINKS ADD THEM AND I WILL PUT THEM HERE FOR EVERYONE TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD SO ITS UP TO US TO TRY TO GET ZTE TO HOPEFULLY REASON WITH US AND NOT BE A CLOSED SOURCE MANUFACTURER. SO WE MUST MAKE OUR VOICE HEARD IF WE EXPECT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN, DOING NOTHING IS THE SAME AS ACCEPTING WHAT ZTE IS DOING, AND LOOK HOW THAT HAS TURNED OUT WITH EVERY UPDATE THIS DEVICE HAS RECEIVED THIS FAR. I BELIEVE THIS DEVICE COULD BE A LOT BETTER IF ZTE WOULD AT LEAST MEET THE DEVELOPER COMMUNITY HALF WAY AND GIVE US OPTIONS.
LINKS
https://www.facebook.com/AxonPhone/
https://www.zteusa.com/contacts/index/
https://twitter.com/ZTE_USA
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL GET ZTE'S ATTENTION WE NEED TO LET THEM KNOW HOW UNSATISFIED WE ARE ABOUT THE DEVICE THEY SOLD US ONLY TO BE LET DOWN BY CRAP UPDATES, LOCKED BOOTLOADERS THEY CANNOT DO WHAT THIS COMMUNITY COULD DO IF WE GET THAT DOOR OPEN. WE AS A WHOLE NEED TO CHANGE ZTE'S PERSPECTIVE AND ATTITUDE TOWARD THE DEVELOPER COMMUNITY AND TRUE OPEN SOURCE. WE NEED AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER LET THEM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT BUYING A PHONE THAT THEY CANNOT EVEN FIX WITH THEIR R&D TEAM. IF ZTE WOULD EMBRACE US THE USERS AND THE COMMUNITY WE COULD DO GREAT THINGS, THE DEVELOPERS HERE WOULD MAKE THIS PHONE A GREAT DEVICE ZTE HAS TO LET US HAVE A CHANCE WITH THIS PHONE AND THE ANDROID COMMUNITY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO COULD POSSIBLY MAKE THIS HAPPEN FROM WHAT I SEE, ZTE IS SO CLOSED OFF AND THEY WILL NEVER SUCCEED SELLING FLAGSHIP DEVICES THAT ARE CLOSED DOWN.
I'll pledge $25 also.

Thank you!!! We need all the help we can get because ZTE is not going to help us!!! If anyone else is looking for this phone Amazon has them Open Box - Like New Condition for around $230, in all 3 colors.
25 Views and 1 Reply? We need help from all that can to get this phone going in the right direction because right now its all downhill, unless something changes for us... I hope we don't lose this opportunity with such a good device, this could be a beast of a phone if given the chance.
I would definitely throw into the pot to get this device rooted. I have been trying since day 1 without any luck. I have reached out to ZTE, Kingroot, and a few others without any luck. At the moment I have $20 on it, but depending on the circumstances I could possibly increase the amount. Please anybody with this device, that is interested in getting it rooted at least throw a comment up, to show support.
Yes this device is a real sleeper...... people don't realized that this device has the same specs as the:
Nexus 6P
HTC M9
Oneplus 2
G4
Note Edge
I truely think that this phone will take off when the price drops.... and I think it will drop after the end of this month.
Yes this phone is pretty good and would be amazing with atleast root I can't pledge any money right now tho but I really hope it gets unlocked and root soon
I gave up on this phone months ago and I had the Lux model. As stated before the potential is off the charts but potential is useless if somebody doesn't take advantage of it.
I emailed ZTE and pretty much told them if they plan to fail in the US market they are heading in the correct direction to fail - with how they are locking down their devices and being closed source. I gave them many examples of how other manufactures such as Nexus, OnePlus, Oppo, HTC, and so on have had very good product demand for each of their devices because of what they freely do with their phones. They give the community what it wants and this sells. Anyways I don't know if they spun me some **** or not but anyways they said they had forwarded my email to their higher ups???
I plan to get on ZTE every chance I get, it was the same situation when I bought my Oppo Find 5 until the community as a whole including front page of XDA finally got through to Oppo. It was either Oppo needed to change or they would not survive in the US market being as closed down as they were. I don't think Oppo regret doing what they have done, they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves here is the US after they finally agreed to give the community what we wanted. I know that Oppo have sold more phones because they did the 180 and gave the community what we wanted, open source and unlocked bootloaders.
Hopefully we can get ZTE to do the same thing. For some reason the China phone manufacturers don't want to follow open source freedoms that apply when creating an Android device's in the US. We need as much help as we can get and if not, we need to give ZTE the negative response they have created for themselves. I know that personally I will never buy another ZTE device if this phones does not get unlocked and ZTE does not start playing by the fairness of Open Source Community we strive on here at XDA, I would like to just have a damn rooted phone, but it would be great to see what the developers could come up with creating a kernel for this beast and an unlocked bootloader to install TWRP or CWM. We bought the phone it should be our choice if we want to forfeit our warranty or whatever, at least give us the option o make our own decision that's all I want.
Hopefully we will get someone skilled enough to crack this phone, I'm sure there are people here that have worked with ZTE devices before and that can do it . I have seen almost the impossible around here there's a lot of great talent, we just need them to give this a device look. Maybe we can all pitch in and buy a really good recognized developer a ZTE Axon Pro device for themselves, that is usually what works the best in my experience because then the have the phone in their hands and can work on it freely. They are selling on Amazon right now for $230 I will throw in the $25 if we can get a developer to agree. Does that sound like a good idea to anyone else? Ive been thinking about this and it would be hard to crack this phone without having the same model phone themselves. This is how it usually gets done, we need a good developer who we can get this device to, then we may get an unlocked bootloader and kernels.
ZTE AXON PRO - $220 Used - Very Good - Item is in original, pristine packaging. Small (less than 1/4" x 1/4") cosmetic imperfection on front of item.
LINK - http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...7&sr=8-3&keywords=zte+axon+pro&condition=used
Right now we have $50 from just 2 of us so say maybe 8 or 10 more people we may have enough and a we need a helpful experienced developer and we can do this possibly, its not like were throwing hundreds of dollars out.
Yea it sucks, I also spent hours of back and forth with ZTE to finally get a answer regarding the availability of Firmware and Bootloader access. I have saved all the emails and messages they wrote me. The final one being that they would not even consider giving Bootloader access and would not release firmware. It took them about 3 weeks to finally get this info and only after pleaing that I would be looking to sell this phone if there was no possibility of ever getting full access. I even tried "troubleshooting" my phone in hopes they would send me some Firmware to flash and "fix" my so called "problem".

So far the most encouraging news I received was from KingRoot. They are still telling me that they plan to keep working to find a method to root. KingRoot also said that if I could get more people to inquire about this model then it would speed up their drive to get it done. The last message I got from them said that their next release should be able to root the Axon A1P
I have also requested through KingRoot to add the ZTE Axon Pro - A1P to their list, hopefully they get us Axon Pro users root soon I'm really bored with nothing to customize and this is my first device ever that I could not root or install custom roms on...
I think I'm going to go give ZTE hell on every outlet they have. Twitter, Facebook, Social Media everywhere that I can...
Anyways hopefully we will at least get our devices rooted soon!!! I was thinking of getting some attention on the XDA Development section on the forums for our Axon Pro from anyone who is experienced with ZTE devices or anyone who can help us with our problems. hopefully by getting all the help we can by linking developers to this thread we will get more attention. We need a good developer or developers and I know there has been many who have cracked ZTE devices in the past I'm pretty sure the newest ZTE/Nubia Z9, Snapdragon 810 version. is unlocked or at least rooted, I'm not sure how much in difference between the devices but they are both built in ZTE's build house so hopefully someone that has working with cracking ZTE/Nubia devices before can help us.
After the marshmallow update, there's an option under the hidden developer options menu to unlock the bootloader natively. Go to settings, about phone, then tap "build number" a few times to activate developer options. You will see a notification once it's activated. Here's a screenshot, now where do I go for this bounty?

Yea I wish that's how it worked. That's just a standard option on Marshmallow. It's for security purposes

Ah I see. How disappointing!
Hi every one!! I'm the new one and sorry for my poor English. ^^. I'm using Zte Axon, I'm very satisfied with it but my phone have a problem that sometimes, even frequently it restart white I do nothing. Hope someone help me! please.
I have tried factory data reset, but nothing better.
isn't that a developer option in marshmallow?
I have this same option within my settings and I have not updated my Axon Pro since I have bought it. I'm still on the older lollipop 5.1.1 build B19 and that option is in my build also. I have not updated hoping that one day we will find a possible exploit. Also all I have heard is bad things after the upgrades from the forum members. Hopefully someday we will have an exploit or root but the option to unlock the bootloader has been in the options since 5.1.1 build B19. I wish we could figure out an exploit. I have been reading up on how to root manually but I'm not a developer so hopefully we can get KingRoot or a gifted developer on board and help us with this issue.
I am selling my Lux model it is here sitting around collecting dust. I ended up buying a Galaxy 6S Edge model that was broken for 325 then had to pay 273 total to get it fixed.

They are selling a lot cheaper on Swappa.

I am trying to get it through apps Firmware Finder and DNS changer. See screenshots.
Steps how to do it:
1. Install Firmware Finder;
2. Install DNS Changer
3. Open Firmware Finder;
4. Find your firmware (matching model No and C###) and click on it;
5. Click "Get update through DNS (beta)";
6. In DNS Changer change DNS to 81.177.139.39
7. Go to System update and check for updates.
8. After all of this you will get the ability to download the latest update, but server connection fails when I click install (with set DNS address you get the message "Server temporarily unavailable) or authorization fails if disable DNS changer..

What's your location ? I wonder if I can force that update through VPN/IP change.
The question is, have you been able to install this update?
You can only install with FF if the update is approved by Huawei for your device (in which case you should be getting an OTA update anyway).
If it's not approved by Huawei for install, you can use FunkyHuawei.

So does anyone else here have a problem seeing this spam for expensive paid services on XDA?
Remember when this site used to be about sharing the love with fellow members, rather than making cash by simply redistributing firmware.
I don't imagine Huawei would like this guy selling their software, even if XDA is taking a cut of his profits.

If the infrastructure to install firmwares were as simple as you describe, it would be available for free. Unfortunately, it's not nearly as simple as you describe.
FH incurs costs to provide things that are charged for, including the authentication of installations, the unbricking, the rebranding, and so on. On top of that, maintenance, R&D, support, and so on is a full-time job. That's why users need to be charged. Things like rooting the Mate 10 which don't cost FH are provided for free, even though R&D was necessary to accomplish it. Same goes for the TWRP versions we've released. It's nowhere near as profitable or as evil as you presume it is. The service could not possibly run if the users were not charged.
Regardless, there's absolutely no reason you'd need to use the service to install updates. You can wait for them to be released by Huawei and get them for free. It's simply an alternative for people who want to do things they otherwise can't, and it's not FH's fault that Huawei created this problem in the first place.
Maybe it's time to get this post back on topic, no?

Xda developers are getting their $$$ through donations and it’s understandable that most users will not like what you do
I am all up for donating my heard earned money to devs @XDA. I ain't no Warran Buffet (net worth 77.7 billion USD), but I donate about 25-50 EUR to each and every xda developer whose services/ROM I use and since I am switching between phones like every 5/6 months I donate quite a lot of money, but as soon as I saw your FunkyHuawei support thread/ https://funkyhuawei.club/ I was like naaaaaah I ain’t using it, especially because the way the credit system is built – before I bought ALP-L29 which I don’t need to rebrand to, I was thinking of buying ALP-L00 instead and rebrand it through https://funkyhuawei.club/ which would cost me 2 credits, but in that case I would have 3 credits left, since the minimum you can buy is 5 credits for 31 USD. That already looks like a rip-off.
I wonder whether if you would get more $$$ through donations than you do through your FunkyHuawei credit system..
Don’t get me wrong. It’s cool that such service exist (I’ve had one xiaomi phone for quite some time without the option to rebrand it/re-flash it and remove all Chinses stuff out of it, so I have been "there"), but you should either limit mentioning your paid service in every other topic and stick to one thread (FunkyHuawei support thread) or change your pricing policy enabling the option to buy a single 1 credit/single service (rebranding, for example), otherwise hate-posts will go on
Take care

So check out the longstanding Forum rules :
7. Do not spam, sell or trade on the forums.
If you wish to advertise a product, simply contact us. We can provide ads but you are not permitted to just post it in the forums. If you do, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and to offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar / substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software or commercial services, unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
13. Advertising and Income Generation
Commercial advertising, advertising referral links, pay-per-click links and other income generating methods are forbidden. Do not use XDA-Developers as a means to make money.
And most importantly, The one that embodies the mindset of this forum to me : the sharing of tools and knowledge and not charging other members for services ..
12. Sharing
XDA-Developers is based on the principle of sharing to transmit knowledge. This is the cornerstone of our site. Our members and developers freely share their experience, knowledge, and finished works with the rest of the community to promote growth within the developer community, and to encourage those still learning to become better. There are those, however, who take advantage of this model and try to make personal gains from the hard work of others.
I think it's just disappointing that you've seen XDA as a way to make more money by simply charging high rates for redistributing Huaweis proprietary firmware, rather than embrace the spirit of all the other Devs who put in a lot of hard work and time to share their creations freely with other passionate members here.
It's like the exact opposite ethos of ROM development and the intention of these forums.
Sorry you view this as off topic.

Do not ask for an ETA
Once the mods start getting onto people for asking, I'll take my dev work off site. I don't want to upset mods and admin over people being impatient.
I've been looking and root isn't available yet for the Snapdragon version. I've created root access for a few devices so far, be it years ago. I want root, so I've decided to start dev work on my own. Can't say how long it will take, or if I will be able to, but anyone that is willing to test or help, feel free to comment and say so, since help would be greatly appreciated. Testers are needed.
First off though, what advancements have been made so far? Several posts I've seen have dead links to data, so to start, I'll need to know what's been done already. No need to reproduce failed outcomes.
Reserved for future links.

One guy flashed a combination version of the firmware and got the OEM unlock toggle to show on a SM-G960U. It switched on and off but I am not sure if it actually unlocked the bootloader or not. There is a TWRP already ported to the Snapdragon version as well, although only for the Chinese and Hong Kong version, it should work on our device if you can get the bootloader unlocked first. I have been scouring online and in the forums since the phone came out and that's all I nave found thus far. Im sure you already know these things, but I figured I would say it just in case you weren't aware. Hope you get it figured out! Good luck! ?
The only development I've heard of is one user claiming he got a diagnostic boot with SElinux permissive. (In the S9 root dev forum/thread) I also have a source who is NOT trying to be identified publicly because he works for google, but he informed me that "the android O build for SAMSUNG DEVICES, was developed with special instructions in it to automatically kick a KERNEL PANIC , if ANY app NOT on some internal White List attempts to access, modify, or send SU commands through any NOT LISTED app with those permissions granted already." ... now I'm not an Android level programmer, but I'm an old Linux dev/ penetration systems tester (lol) and from what I am gathering is that the patches or whatever that Samsung added to the O.S. also included an encrypted or hidden white list, which he says is VERY small, (as in number of items actually in the list) , but even he said they do not have any access nor knowledge of where they stored this. He did tell me that they delivered an incomplete or infant code for Samsung Snapdragon Model Note 8,9 and s8,9, and it was so crude that not only would it not compile because of missing crap Samsung deliberately did not supply them with... but he said that it was NOT lockable in that state, so Samsung either inserted their own locked kernel and whatever to create this B.S. broke down version of Android that is Root crippled. BUT the only clue he could give me was that "On no level can an E-fuse provide an unbreakable chain of trust, and that if an extreme modded were to actually break down the system board of an S9, they could in theory remove or add some sort of device that would bypass the Qualcomm Secure boot completely!" ... now this ain't a best friend or nothing so truthfully I'm surprised I got this much from him... but I've known who he was and that hes worked for Google nearly 12 years as a developer and software engineer. So I dont know if any of that info helps... but my contribution is that I can get my device (s9+ from Sprint USA Sm-g965U) replaced with little to no hassle, so I'm 100% willing to do any tests u need, providing that you give me at least a basic level of instruction, as to each set of commands or package u want me to flash. I'm pretty android savvy considering it's just a linux derivative... and I know Samsung 100% .. I've had every S - galaxy since day 1 . BUT throwing blind commands at my device that I have 0 understanding of their impact, makes me feel like a squirrel running across the freeway during rush hour! Plz Do me a favor and shoot me a private message and I'll give you my cell number and email so u can reach me quicker when you have something u need tested! Now please people don't berate me if something he said to me was not correct or you have different data to disprove what he said. I literally took notes by hand and had him confirm them, so I'm just the messenger/informant and u gotta realize that as a google employee, he #1 is partially not knowledgeable of ways to exploit the O.S. which is what the hackers come into play for. And make the developers work **** tons harder to FIX the hole the ****ed up in the 1st place! ? Lol... and #2. I did ask about the possibility of a $$$$ number he would take in order to provide an actual Eng-boot like that of the S8, and he said that "Those are developed by each individual corporation after they are provided the build source code", and that "google has no interest in possessing or archiving any such file because the O.S. does not need it to provide a developers version of the O.S., which is as far as Google goes in providing a new system to the companies.... so for something like that, reach out to one of the underpaid factories full of workers and I'm sure they would happily give you what you want for much cheaper than you imagine!" Ok that was very long winded but I wanted to cover all I could because I prob wont check this thread anymore.... plz PM me bro so I can get you my info ... and let's put this Flashing Guinea Pig (me) to work in getting this ***** at least hack rooted or maybe full!!!

It ain't happening with the known exploits.
Ok, so far I have a few routes I plan to take that have worked on other devices. Working on the first, but not at the moment. The rude comment compelled me to post my own. Devs don't follow old ways of doing things so get that out of your head if you want to think forward, not backwards. I have found what could be an exploit in the rom itself that "might" be the starting point to get root access. This is NOT an ETA but hopefully we can start testing in the next few weeks.
I'll say it now, don't get overly excited a possible exploit has been found. I make no guarantee on it being THE exploit needed. Just be patient, and if you have insight on a way to attack this or another possible exploit, do say so.
If anyone knows of the bootloader partition already having been copied, post a link. I share mine at the moment so I don't always have it around, so any of the bootloader data would help greatly.

I saw no rude comment, just a dose of reality for you, a little thin skinned are we?
You're continuing to be rude and attempting to derail the point of the thread. Meh, I'm getting back to work since it not good to feed trolls.
Pretty sure placeholder threads are not allowed on XDA...
I am making presence known now. I will be watching this closely
Technicly this thread don't even need to exist right now.

First off though, what advancements have been made so far? Several posts I've seen have dead links to data, so to start, I'll need to know what's been done already. No need to reproduce failed outcomes.

Myself and a handful of other people involved in us snapdragon s8/s8+/n8+ took a brief crack at it a little while ago to no avail. I don't want to go into too many details on here as 1) Samsung is watching surely and 2) the contents from the peanut gallery get old quick but here are the cliff notes. Feel free to pm me here or on telegram for more details. (Backstory on me, I created samfail which was the first/only n8 root method and the second for the s8/s8+ and the only published one beyond bootloader v1.
- samfail is 100% patched. No known way to modify system
- you can't mix combo boot with stock images anymore. Samsung got wise to that. Figured out how to track it if we can force write a system image
- there is a ton of new system level security because they had to move out of the boot image due to treble. Probably the first big nail in the coffin I'm.
- don't waste your time on the oem unlock toggle in the combo/factory rom. No it doesn't unlock the bootloader. The us snapdragons don't respect it's value outside of turning off frp, but that was with the s8 idk if it is still true on the s9.
- the other poster is right about the anti root thing. It's in the open source kernel code. If anything being exexuted under uid 0 matches a list of common/known root mods/not stuff that is supposed to be there, instant kernel panic. Things like "binary is called BusyBox" are on that list.
This was the point I gave up. Partially because I don't have the device so testing is extremely difficult (I wised up this year and purchased a intl. Snapdragon sm-g9650 which has full oem unlock just like the exy).
In sure there's things in forgetting right now and again, being too transparent here results in root method bring patched faster, hit me up if you want more brain dump

Although I have seen a lot worse on these threads, his comment was pretty negative, which is what we do not need in this thread. I wish people would just keep their thoughts to themselves if they have nothing to add to the discussion. I also will test so let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
i also have a g965u and have been trying various mwthods to no avail at this point.. we need new exploits to be found.. all the obvious stuff will not work

You cannot buy Exynos from a carrier. You have to buy directly from Samsung for that. I know because I requested a Exynos variant. Sprint said they couldn't (or wouldn't) give me one.
edit: nvm not worth it.

This is the official FunkyHuawei support thread for the Mate 20 Pro.
The below applies to both the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro.
Install:
Currently FunkyHuawei has a new install method for EMUI 9 devices which is not public as of yet.
Unbrick:
Unbricking will be possible with the new HiSuite 9 method, but it is not public as of yet.
Rebrand:
Rebranding is not currently planned to be offered. Neither is single sim to dual sim conversion. This may change in the future.
Unlock:
Unlock codes are available via the unlock code order form, or by purchasing an unlimited pass. See the site for details.
If you have a global variant, make sure that you can choose Enable OEM Unlock in developer options. So far we have seen the option grayed out on all devices. If you can't enable this, even with the code, you can't unlock the bootloader.
It has been confirmed that bootloader unlocking on the Chinese variant is possible. On the global variant we can give you the code, but you'll need to be able to choose Enable OEM Unlock as specified above.
Root:
The methods which are not public are available to those who want to test them, by contacting FunkyHuawei support by email.
We will update this thread with any changes.
so I have to purchase for unlocking my device?
what the ..
I would prefer bootloader unlock with paid service rather than having Mate 20 Pro with access limitation. Since you as the owner, you should've the right to use your phone the way you want it. Since the official unlock method was suspended months ago, what else option do we have?

Sure, but these people are putting work in to it and want to be paid -- I don't believe they're affiliated with Huawei. If it was Huawei doing this, I'd understand your sentiment.
Keeping tabs here. I'm hoping to pre order the UK emerald green variant before the timeframe ends for the free gifts.
Not sure of the purpose of this thread. It offers nothing. So will it? Can the phone be unlocked? Is a purchase required?
We already know Huaweu have publicly stated all phones after an earlier date in 2018 won't be boot-unlockable. So curious...how will FunkyHuaweu help me?

Think we've gotta wait for Friday onwards, as seemingly people with devices now (presumably different software wise?) have the OEM unlock option greyed out in developer options.
As far as my understanding goes, if we can check that option, we can't unlock the bootloader..... Sad times if so.
I'll be hopefully getting my device on Friday and I'll be sure to see if that option is an option for me...
So is there any way to unlock bootloader other than OEM unlock?

As far as I know that setting needs to be checked, we need to be able to select Allow. Without it I don't think the bootloader can be unlocked, but I'd be gladly proved wrong!
Does rebrand from L09 to L29 work or is it in the works?
Edit.. Meant without root, not bothered about that.. Or are we saying we need unlocked BL nowadays to rebrand to doff model?

May change in the future, but right now, any kind of rebranding is looking very unlikely.
The same software updates can be offered for all brandings, which is a plus, so there shouldn't be such a need to rebrand, even if you have an obscure branding.
But enabling dual sim on single-sim, is looking very unlikely with the current state of things. We are looking into it, though.
Thanks for the reply. I need global, not Chinese with root... this is a Dev community - so I don't support anyone holding the root process for global ROM as a ransom. Happy to pay a contribution but it's meant to be shared..
Unless your version is a 1 click solution like chain fire and has no phone side effects, then I don't see the value on demanding a ransom

Demanding a ransom? LOL.
They're a business providing a service.
If others want to do it for free, there's nothing stopping them from doing so. The problem is, I doubt there will be enough people interested in doing that ... the Huawei / Honor development community has already been shattered.

I mentioned before, I need the device in hand to do it. No way currently exists that I could offer people to do at home. That might change in the future, but that is the current situation.
With the Chinese version, you can likely simply unlock the bootloader and root like any other phone.
With the global version, you could theoretically do the same if Enable OEM Unlock is available. But if it isn't available, the only alternative I can offer, is one that requires the device in-hand. It's nothing to do with ransom. I'd much prefer there were easier rooting methods available. My full-time job is reverse-engineering and exploiting Huawei devices, so it would make my job much easier.

Many moons ago, "JTAG'ing" a Microsoft Xbox 360 console required a but of heavy lifting...and by that, I mean a lot of specialized effort and knowledge to carry about a successful JTAG, see what I mean:
https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-JTAG-your-Xbox-360-and-run-homebrew/
So - with that in mind - are you literally pulling the Mate 20 Pro phone apart with special tools and connecting wires to it running specialized patent-pending software/s? I obviously need to ask as you have failed several times to mention WHY you need the "phone in hand" to root?!
Otherwise, if you're insinuating that it takes a lot of manual rebooting, flashing and lots of complicated software steps - well, that's why there's things called instruction guides....and people like me around offering to put one together so I/we can SHARE and help others in my position (who would want a rooted global version of this). So I will once again state, unless you can elaborate otherwise, it is in fact a ransom...imagine how much Chainfire, all those years ago, could've charged Samsung users for his (albeit, simpler) root method across the range and years of phone and tab models?

Just to add to this I'm willing, within reason, to help out in any way possible to achieve Magisk root for the global version. There is currently a pledged amount of around £170 and hell, even if some of those didn;t pay out I'd be willing to put more in....
If we can assist in anyway let us know....

If it was something like this, I would be offering it as a do-at-yourself service, with a tool. I can't offer it like that, I need the phone in-hand to do it, as I said.
I guess one could then ask the question: What if someone in relation to Huawei pays you for a phone (global) pre-rooted. Then, they investigate how or where the exploit was made - and eventually patch it anyway? It may take longer, but we'd end up in the same position as before if Huawei wanted to control root on their global models...and, given your work/livelihood, you would know better than most: If Huawei did NOT want this to happen, they certainly wouldn't make the CN version as simple and easy to root as you claim in this thread...and they'd have something in the pipeline, if not available now ready to patch the exploit...
I still do not see how the CN and Global versions can be so completely and insanely different.

what guide should i follow for this phone to root it? android v10
You must be new here. I believe you have to be on Android 8 to be rooted and plus, it's pointless from what I read, anyways. For one, your phone will never fully charge and 2, I'd already inquired about it, the rooting process ends up not being dependable and your phone will no longer be a daily driver. So, the thought of it is a no for me.
I doubt there's even a way to go back to Android 8 and any necessary security patch levels.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...r-development/root-extreme-syndicate-t4043723
You don't have to be on oreo right now for it to work, you just need a combo firmware that uses the same bootloader revision as what you're currently on. You can currently get an oreo combo firmware up to revision 4. Basically it's a "modded" oreo firmware that uses the same bootloader version as newer firmwares.
Please change title or close this thread. Got me excited for nothing
Why close ? Its informative.
Now i know i need to sell my phone caz it cannot be rooted.
How ever, S8+ on 9.0 had root but some devices such as mine were turning into brick attempting to root them due to bootloader version conflict which was not identified by root method or person who wrote the method.
Bricked several S8+ phones attempting to root. Was too afraid to try my last one.
Hell, am not made of money buying phones every time root turns it into a brick where even EDL'ing wont fix it.

Yeah, don't trust random websites. They mostly contain generic procedures that are either vastly outdated or downright wrong.
I have a rooted N960U, and this is what it takes to get there:
To actually be able to root an N960U, you have to be on a software version with an Android security patch level of February 1, 2021 or older (if you look at the baseband version under software information in the About phone section under Settings, the 5th digit from the right should be a 7 or lower number). Anything newer than that is unrootable as far as I know. And for the rooting procedure, you have to unlock the bootloader first which currently requires a paid service as mentioned in the following post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...iers_fix_safetynet_aio.4217753/#post-85381639

I looked at the sampwn website for unlocking service and i didnt like it.
It threw some kind of subscribe message at me covering entire page so i couldn't even see what the website is all about.
Then it constantly showing "someone purchased this or that" and opens a chat i dont want to see.
Those are 3 red flags for a fishy website so i have to pass.
I did how ever manage to look at the purchase process page and it was also full of red flags.
It was asking too much personal information.
It did not say what you are buying, how much you going to pay for it or what payment method is accepted.
Entire website has a theme of a scammer website, or at the very least it was built using those themes and thus it acts just like it.
Telegram, discord username required ? What if i dont have one ?
Do you want my password to my bank as well ?
Card number with expiration date and full name address and 3 security digits to pay ?
Are you F'ing serious ?
I dont know a single website that sell you stolen serial keys or cracked software that ask you this much information and claim "its required"
Besides, if there is a paid way, there must be a free way.
Who is this guy, owner of some sort of unlocking device ?
Whats the point of locking it if some lone wolf can unlock it anyway ?
Very sketchy.

Whatever method is being used to unlock the bootloader on these models has not been made public, so that's why there are only paid ways.
I can't speak for SamPWND as I used the first link with UNSAMLOCK, and the guy running it was quite helpful and did things quickly. But you do need to contact him through Telegram.
This is certainly not for everyone, so you really have to be sure you want it as it's a one-time, one device only thing. Otherwise, you'll have to look at the Exynos models or the international Snapdragon N9600 model for freely available bootloader unlocking and rooting methods.
SamPWND is a group on telegram i joined.
But i cant contact anyone there. All i get is what the owner posts.

That's pretty strange for a Telegram group. Check the UNSAMLOCK one then as that's the one I used and had no problems with.
But remember that only older software versions are eligible. If yours is later than February 2021, then you won't be able to do anything.

Afaneh has a good rep on XDA, for all I've seen. But I read you about Telegram, kinda irritrates me how it's taken away from the much more available xda forums. I could join, but like I was saying elsewhere just last night, I'm already way too "joined" as it is.
