Hello,
I just installed latest OTA with security fixes and after reboots it's stuck at the white HTC screen.
I'm s-off, relocked and have custom recovery.
How to get into android without losing data?
Thanks in advance

How exactly did you install it? The usual way, doenloaded the OTA and let your phone upgrade? Or you took the firmware.zip and flashed it via fastboot?
help plz

The normal way. I got a new update message on Android. I downloaded it and let it install. It rebooted twice or three times and now after boot it's stuck at the HTC white screen.
The only thing i could imagine is the custom recovery (twrp teamwin) which should be replaced by stock before i ran the update.
Now i see reflashing stock recovery in the replies here is not helping people either...
Same here.
Unlocked, S-Off, Stock 7.19.401.22 Rom and recovery . White Screen after applying the update.
Any hints?
Same problem here.
1. Running stock ROM, downloaded OTA.
2. Flashed stock recovery 7.19.401.22 via fastboot.
3. Installed OTA (default software update tool).
4. Device rebooted into recovery, installed, rebooted.
5. Stuck at htc one logo (white screen).
Is rooted, S-ON.

You all having the same problem that occurred with the 7.19.401.22 update, something wasn't 100% stock and the ota installed anyway causing a bootloop. For those having s-off, downgrade to 7.19.401.22 using a ruu to re-stock your phone and then update it to .30 before modding anything, not even installing root and it will update fine. For those stuck on the bootscreen with s-on, if your firmware is still 7.19.401.22 do same as above, if your firmware was updated to 7.19.401.30 (most likely it is) you'll need to unlock the bootloader if not already done, flash a custom recovery and restore a 7.19.401.30 nandroid backup (and flash back the 7.19.401.30 stock recovery if needed)
Thanks for your explanation. I did a RUU reset with 7.19.401.22 signed zip. After that i installed the update. All fine now. Phone is up and running again.

weird, i just looked at the updater-script, and everything looks normal, first it checks all the files then performs the patches if everything matches.... did you ever figure out what the culprit was?

No I did not looked at it yet. I just remember it was the same scenario with the previous ota:
Unlocked BL + custom recovery + stock rooted rom
restored stock recovery
downloaded and installed the ota update, no error during the update process
reboot and stuck at htc boot screen
I remember many ppl were having the same issue early June in the update thread, I have also experienced the same issue from 7.17.1540.7 to .21
(stock rooted, flashed back stock recovery, installed the update and phone stuck at HTC boot screen. Waited a lot thinking it was only the cache being rebuilt but after an hour, still not booted).
Very strange
Same here. I´ve installed the patch via OTA, all was running fine but the boot at the end stops at the white HTC screen.
OS 7.19.401.30, no root
I´ve tried start with power butten, out of the recovery the boot, even today a factory reset was without success. And the phone isn´t recognized by pc.
What should I do to get a working phone again?
Greetings mammaonecat

How long did you waited, first boot after an ota update can take longer (10 mins) than usual. Is your booloader unlocked/locked/re-locked?
Could someone provide me with a Nandroid backup of 7.19.401.30?

Hello everyone,
I'm having the same problem. I have an international HTC One M7. My OTA half worked (I put the stock recovery before flash), and now my phone says "7.19.401.30" when I'm in the bootloader. I am S-ON with unlocked.
Can I flash a RUU (zip format) with an older version (7.19.401.22) ? Is it possible ?
Other information, when I go into the stock recovery, I have lines of errors. Something like this :
E:missing bitmap oem_unlock_bg
E:missing bitmap oem_unlock_bg_yes
E:missing bitmap oem_unlock_bg_no
PS : I tried a usual .exe RUU but it failed.
Thanks for your help.

Basically I successfully did everything necessary to unlock the bootloader and root the phone and I also flashed Superuser and had it confirmed by rootchecker. Where my phone got screwed is when i attempted to flash Android Revolution HD.
After flashing the ROM and pressing restart within TWRP recovery my phone went straight to the bootloader. Anything I did, from attempting to enter recovery or even power off the phone just sent me back to the bootloader.
I managed to re-flash TWRP and am able to access recovery BUT my entire phone is wiped (no backups ,roms, etc.) and my attempt to revert back to the original Sprint RUU has failed 3 times.
What I've noticed in the videos of people updating to the original Sprint RUU is that their image version for the current version is 1.2xxxx and is identical to the one they're updating to while mine is from: 1.31.651.2 to: 1.29.651.10.
Desperately in need of help as this phone is not even 2 weeks old.

Here you can find the RUU. I don't know wich one you want ..
Install this RUU in Fastboot (USB) otherwise it won't recognize your phone!

If you can still access TWRP, load another ROM onto a USB drive and plug it into your phone with an adapter. Flash properly by doing a complete wipe with TWRP and do a boot. It could have been a bad download initially. Did you do a MD5 sum check? As for the RUU, I've never done one (As I've never required an RUU *Knock on wood*) but from what I've read and seen, you need to revert everything you've done as in relocking the bootloader and reverting S-OFF if you've done that.

Didn't check the MD5 & when attempting to use the RUU I did have S-ON(Never had S-OFF) and had the bootloader locked. But is there a way for me to push a rom to the phone using adb? I've tried before but it always says device not found.
Also, whenever i try to use the RUU the error I get has to with an incorrect Hboot version. Currently my Hboot is 1.44.0000.

If your are S-ON you cannot flash an RUU that is older than your current firmware that's why its not working, you either have to stay on the same firmware or upgrade but you cannot downgrade so what you have to do is sideload a ROM using the tutorial dgtiii provided and everything will be back to normal, don't worry
hi all,
sorry to sound like a complete idiot in advance !
I have been trying for over a month now to find some way to return my phone to stock so I can get the new ota update but im just having no luck !
I have tried everything to unroot , relock boot loader, and return to stock, I can successfully unroot, successfully relock the boot loader but cannot update OTA everytime I download the ota and allow the phone to start update process the phone boots into bootlaoder and a new line appears in the normal messages **** security warning*** when this happens I loose recovery and the phone hasn't updated. I then have to re-unlock the bootloader to then flash a recovery.
I cant flash RUU as there isn't an RUU available for me, H3G_001 , I have tried the suggested CWM nandroid backup, but this fails half way through something to do with android_secure
I cant seem to get the phone to successfully grant s-off to try the change cid method, I have tried to do this using HTC one kit by hasoon but no luck,
if anyone could please help it would me much appreciated
regards
okz19
Probably you don't have the stock rom or the recovery, because the secure warning come out when you aren't fully stock..

still stuck!
hi all as you can probably tell form the age of this topic, I have been stuck for a while !!! (11 October ! )
I am still having problems trying to get the new update 2.24.771.3
my phone is carrier locked to three uk
it is unrooted
custom recovery cwm touch
bootloader unlocked / tampered
I understand I need stock recovery and to lock bootloader
I don't have stock rom
my problem is as follows, my phone has been telling me for atleast 4 months now that I have a software update, when I click it it restarts takes me to cwm recovery verifys install then gets stuck on cannot mount data ....
I understand I need to flash stock recovery, I have tried to do this using the "all in one kit" however when I click flash my own recovery, (phone reboots into bootloader) I then proceed to select the stock recovery.img the cmd box then hangs "waiting for device" I am then alerted by my computer that the usb device has malfunctioned. ( I am on windows 8 and have turned of signature verification)
I cannot use the supposed simple method of RUU as there isn't one available for my stupid network!!
I have tried to use a cwm recovery image, this usually starts then spits out android_secure is missing.
yes I do have a hammer ready to hit the phone with, but just before I do this is there ANYONE with any last tips to help me, because ive just about had enough with this stupid phone !
the phone has 24 hours left to live, can you save its life ?
thanks in advance for any help.
1. You cannot install an OTA with a custom recovery.
2. I've encountered a CWM bug having to do with .android_secure. There's a hidden folder in /sdcard that caused it, I don't remember whether this file is ".android_secure" or another. You can probably wipe the sdcard before restoring the backup. If that fails, you can probably manually restore the backup with ADB (this will be hard).
3. If you want to install the custom recovery, boot to the fastboot and use USB to install the recovery. Don't use a toolkit because they're useless when anything goes wrong.
All - i rooted my ATT HTC ONE, installed the stock 4.4 Kitkat Sense 5.5 ROM and TWRP Recovery.

Ugh. I cannot restore stock recovery to my rooted HTC One Developer's Edition. I can install CWM and TWRP with no problem. But flash the stock recovery and all I get is the red exclamation point.
S-ON
HBOOT 1.55.0000

I cannot get OTA updates and I get Error 155 when I try to return to stock using RUU.
Maddening.
Are there any suggestions as to how to get to where I can receive OTA again? I can't believe how difficult it has been to restore the stock recovery.

As cIsA said, the raid exclamation mark you got is the first page of the stock recovery. Stock recovery is not intended for user so you have to make the power +volume trick to access the menu.
Today I unrooted my phone and relocked it so I could update my phone to 4.4.3 but every time I try to update it the phone will boot into fastboot mode and it reads "security warning" under where it says "Relocked". It does that every time I want to go to recovery.

You need a stock rom and stock recovery for the OTA to work.
I'm using both a stock rom and a stock recovery.
Why are you trying to boot into recovery if you have the stock recovery installed?

Might want to try installing the stock Android system recovery again (doesn't sound like you have a recovery installed at this point). Sounds like that's what your issue is. You can also use a RUU to get back to stock and then take the OTA update.
To run a RUU, would I need to unlock my bootloader again?

Well, I tried to run RUU and FUU and both of them failed. I can't get passed step 1. Can I install a custom recovery and try again?
Make sure the firmware version of the RUU matches what you have installed. If you need a reference hit the second link in my sig and scroll down to the section regarding Hboot versions.

You need to reinstall the stock Android system recovery to take the OTA update. Also need to be on a relatively stock ROM to take the update.
How can i reinstall stock recovery rom. Is tbere any option to keep twrp and install new software version

I just got my sprint m8 hk edition 2 days ago, after which I htcdev unlocked, rooted, s-off'd(tried firewater got whelped) used sunshine successfully, flashed captain throwbacks latest twrp, then proceeded to debloat. After I got the notification for the 1.54.654.13 update I fastboot flashed back to stock hk recovery 1.54.654.9, and got that ota installed and only had to reroot was still s-off and unlocked. Fastboot flashed cap's twrp again, then I got the ota update for 1.54.654.15(didn't realize this thing needed so many updates, I now know I still have 2 or 3 more to go) So I flashed back to stock hk 1.54.654.13 recovery, tried installing 1.54.654.15 and it reboots and tries to install it makes it to about 25% then the pic of the phone gets a red triangle and I have to hold pwr and volume up to reboot. I've redownloaded and reflashed the stock hk 1.54.654.13 recovery multiple times as well as deleting the ota update and redownloading it 3 times to no avail same result every time. Soooo, my question is do I even need to update step by step? Or should I just download the latest firmware 2.16.654.4 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173 and install thru my pc. If so, I believe I need to relock my bootloader then ruu to 2.16.654.4. And last question, do I lose s-off by ruu'ing?

I've redownloaded and reflashed the stock hk 1.54.654.13 recovery multiple times as well as deleting the ota update and redownloading it 3 times to no avail same result every time. Soooo, my question is do I even need to update step by step? Or should I just download the latest firmware 2.16.654.4 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173 and install thru my pc. If so, I believe I need to relock my bootloader then ruu to 2.16.654.4. And last question, do I lose s-off by ruu'ing?

You do not lose S-OFF ever. Only way to go back to S-ON is by doing is manually.
I believe it was the first or second OTA but you had to be completely on the stock ROM (the OTA looked for certain .apks in folders and if you didn't have them [ie. you debloated] you can't OTA).
Since you're S-OFF just go flash the latest firmware (no need to relock and RUU).

You can get the firmware zip that doesn't have the new recovery so you don't have to reinstall recovery again either. If you don't have the H/K version it is this one you should download from OMJ's thread:
Code:
2.16.651.4 Modified Firmware w/ modified hboot (no red text)....removed boot & recovery (fastboot flashable): [url]http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567714842[/url] credit to @nfinitefx45 for the edited hboot, thx!
If you have the H/K version download:
Code:
2.16.654.4 Modified Firmware w/ modified hboot (no red text)....removed boot & recovery (fastboot flashable): [url]http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567715031[/url] credit to @nfinitefx45 for the edited hboot, thx!
Command is: fastboot flash zip zipName.zip

i did fastboot rebootRUU then fastboot flash zip firmware.zip it ran thru and after I rebooted my wifi won't turn on and my software version is still the same and my sdcard is borked too heeeeeeeellllllppppp
Not sure what to tell you about your Wi-Fi or SD card issue. Are you using a custom kernel? As far as the software version goes, that won't change by updating your firmware. That will only change by flashing a custom ROM. Software & firmware are not the same.
I have HTC One M7 with Root, S-off, TWRP 2.8.5.0, CID HTC__001 , HTC-WWE, and when i'm trying to install recent OTA update (7.19.401.22) after downloading OTA_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_7.19.401.22-7.19.401.2_****.zip, phone is restarted in boot-loader mode so I have choosen in TWRP install (downloaded zip file) and then I have got the this error message.
Any idea what I've done wrong?

Phone must be 100% stock for ota updates including recovery.
@badzi0r like alray said You need to flash the stock recovery (the same way you flashed a custom recovery) before installing ota. If you can't find it lemme know and I'll try to

Take the stock recovery out of the firmware.zip of the ota, flash that then try and update again.
But it also depends on what other mods you have done with your root etc, too many system mods and you'll just have to flash the stock full ruu of 7.19.401.2 to return to stock, then update, and then mod away.
Hi,
Sorry for delay and thanks for support.
I have extracted the firmware.zip and got 4 img files:
boot.img
hboot_signedbyaa.img
rcdata.img
recovery.img
Now series of basic question as I'm not feeling as an expert. I have rooted my phone half year ago and don't want to do something stupid now.
Which of above has to be flashed?
Is this the correct command: fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img ?
Another question is: do I lose my data?
Should I flush the newest twrp after OTA update?
I have clean HTC Stock ROM 'CID HTC__001 , HTC-WWE'
Thanks

You shouldn't but always better to do a backup first.

[this is not 100% guaranteed]
the phone hangs after finishing the backup installation?
your stock recovery should be according to what version of firmware you are installing (although LP recovery works on KK).
wipe cahe and data if it still hangs then, try to flash stock [kitkat or lollipop] recovery again and then restart the phone.
I have download OTA, then extract and flash recovery.img. After reboot to system download an OTA again and it was installed without any errors but system stopped on white screen with HTC and android logo.
After three attempts I have restored nand backup and now phone is wroking, as before.
Is anything which I forgot?

you might want to flash the 7.19.401.22 ruu, it will update your phone and bring everything back to stock. RUU is in the general section, check sticky thread.

Looks like HTC didn't test this OTA very well, the update to .22 seems to soft brick a lot of phones, personally, as I use a custom rom on my M7, I just flashed the firmware only without a problem, just to bring it up to the latest, I didn't bother with the OTA, no point unless you are going to run stock rom.
What if I install RUU, how it affects to my data? It will wipe everything?

RUU will wipe everything yes.
I will stay with current state. Hopefully I will not lose to much. Planning to have my M7 for the next year and then replace for the newer model.
