Hi guys,
It's very annoying to see that android isn't able (by default) to use the lockscreen and the lock pattern. The only one I saw so far is HTC. You can use the lockscreen and the pattern together. On the LG the lockscreen is gone if I select a lock pattern. Is this a line in a .xml file or something? Does anybody know that? If so, is anybody able to mod that?
You can use lockscreen apps.
You should post such stuff in general.
What is the point of having two lockscreens?
What are the downsides of only a pattern lockscreen?
I want to keep it as stock as possible. On other thing is, that I don't like only pattern. It doesn't show the same info as the normal one like music. I like the app widgetlocker. But sometimes it seems to lock a little bit later and the app is one of the biggest battery drainer I ever had. Anyway, I don't want to use any kind of third party apps!
use gesture unlock. cmsettings. lockscreen, and you can keep lockscreen or you can remove it.gesture unlock is far the best.
and hope you are on cm7

Stock has no double lockscreens.
You can use CM7 to show lockscreen music controls. It is in the CM settings.
HTC has 2 cause it has its sense interface.
There are some music apps which can do separate lockscreen controls as well.
Hey guys i installed a lock widget and some times my OEm lock comes back and once i unlock it the new one pops up..so i need to like unlock twice?lol
and sometimes my top notification bar gets buggy..it does not drop all the way down..need to reboot for it to work...
yeah most third party lockscreens don't work very well as they can't bypass the system lockscreen. the only one that works really well is WidgetLocker or a combination of a third party lockscreen and NoLock (which doesn't always work.)
WidgetLock can use a special root permission (you of course need to be rooted) to disable the system lockscreen, for me it has always worked well.
thats the one that i use...

The stock lock screen comes back sporadically with widget locker anyways. But it doesn't happen that often and it's no big deal to me

Hello everyone,
I just got my OPO and Im in the process of trying to customize it the way I want it. I know what i want to do but I haven't been able to figure out how to accomplish it despite searching. In simplest term I am looking for a more functional lock screen. A major priority is launching google now without unlocking the phone. I searched for Ok google anywhere, but only came up with aftermarket apps. I previously had some version of jellybean on my kindle where the lockscreen allowed me to choose between unlocking the phone, and launching google now. Is there something I can install or a similar rom for Kit Kat and the OPO?
So far I installed an app called Slidelock which displays messages and notifications on the lock screen iphone style. It works great but an option that lets me quick reply from there would be even better. I haven't come across such an app or setting. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

You can "call" Google now from any screen including the lock screen just:
Open Google Now
Settings
Voice
"Ok Goole" Detection
And select the options you want: From Anyscreen and From Lock Screen
Done.

For notifications. Try echo notifications
I think its much better then slidelock and nlis notifications. 100% free no ads

echo replaces the lockscreen, which makes it a no no for me, but some people do like that.
Nils you can set up by changing to aosp lockscreen on the opo, (settings lockscreen, disable custom lockscreen) then adding the widget, moving widget to default position then swapping back to custom lockscreen in the lockscreen settings.
DashClock?
When I use the trusted devices feature, I'm constantly uneasy with the idea that there's no lock screen. Not because of security but because of usability. I'm worried about pocket activations. I also miss the lock screen when playing music. I wake the phone to change the track and I see Chrome or whatever I was last using, instead of the beautiful KK lock screen. Basically, I'd like a way for my trusted device to unlock the door without removing the door. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere for requiring a swipe or something like that on the lock screen?

If you're asking if there is a stock setting in the phone to do this, then the answer is no. At least, not with the current version of Trusted Devices (TD).
However, there is a workaround that involves third party lock screen replacement apps. To use your analogy of the door, what you could do is put a screen door in front of the main door. Then when TD removes the main door completely, as it does now, your screen door will remain to do what you wanted. It's a bit quirky though. I tried this with free version of Holo Locker (HL), very small minimalist one-permission KK lockscreen. You can try others but I'll refer to HL in this example.
So to make this work I find you need to do two things:
1) set HL to lock only, no security. if you set HL security TD will treat it like the regular lock screen and disable it. So you can't just disable the stock security and use HL by itself with security enabled.
2) after you install HL and have it running, you have to re-enable your regular security. That is, go into security and redo your pattern lock or pin or whatever. if you don't do that your stock security lock will stay replaced by HL, even when TD is not running. Note that when everything is working, and when TD is not running, you will have two doors, a screen door and a main door. of course, you can set the main door to only close at certain intervals. Like, if you set the stock security lock to thirty minutes, you'll basically be only dealing with the screen door HL most of the time. when TD is running of course you'll only deal with HL.
what about the question regarding music, not wanting to see the last app you were on but rather go elsewhere instead?
Most 3rd party lockscreens have shortcuts for this sort of thing. Even the free version of HL let's you replace the search and camera shortcuts, and since it let's you replace them with whatever app, you can choose your music app and go directly there. HL also has the Home button visible, so you can use that to go directly to the home screen.
Another option for music is to use a music app that has its own lock screen replacement. For example, Rocket Player has such a setting, not on by default, third option under Operations->Lockscreen Options. if you use your music app's lockscreen you'd probably not want another third party lock screen like HL on top of that, or at least turn turn it off while running the music app.
Like I said, Holo Locker was just the example i tried to experiment with. There are tons of such apps in the play store with different features, try a few. There's even an open source one called Pi Locker here on xda check it out too.
Wow, that's really helpful. Thanks.
I've gotten more or less happy with the standard EMUI launcher, which with a little tinkering works nicely enough. BUT! The lockscreen is horrible, it doesn't show music controls unless the app is set as standard for music. This is hopeless as i often use different apps. Tidal/Poweramp for music, PocketCast for podcasts and Orange Squeeze controlling my Squeezebox.
It seems that it's possible to change lockscreen back in EMUI 3, but that doesn't seem to work in EMUI 4. Anyone know if it's possible to change to AOSP Lockscreen?

Well u can install the many lockscreens available from the Play store.
To disable the EMUI lock, enable developer options and there is a screen lock option in that.. Toggle it off
Nils lockscreen notifications has solved my issues until I get root. It's in the playstore.
Thar looks interesting, but the settings screen on this phone really confuses me. They've moved everything around
How did you disable notifications on the lockscreen?
Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk
I actually like it as this phone offers more control once you know where everything is (takes some time getting used to for sure ).
-->If you use magazine lockscreen (stock huawei) the option to turn them off is in the display settings.
-->If you set any other lockscreen theme in the theme selecter they automatically get disabled (that's what I currently do). And the option in the display settings goes away!
So is there no way to show music controls on the lockscreen without a third party app? The lockscreen does show my notifications (when set to magazine) but nothing when playing music or podcasts, for example using Podcast Addict.

Nils has lockscreen support for certain music apps but only a few... (using "nex music" atm)
Basically the huawei lockscreen sucks. Can't wait to get root and disable it. From what I've read the stock android lockscreen is there but only activates once you manually disable the huawei lockscreen. But I need some clarification on warranty before I unlock the bootloader.
The huawei lockscreen app is called "Keyguard" as far as I know, you could try and disable it if you have root.
Tbh if root can get rid of the lock screen that is reason enough to root it.
While everyone wants to get rid of the magazine unlock I need to restore it after flashing with a different firmware from B636 to C432, how do I restore the magazine unlock as it is now missing under the settings menu ?

I am not sure if the C636B170 at about 3GB is a full stock rom but that is what I did.
Hi all,
The only thing that drives me up the wall is not being able to have my set alarm time displayed on the lock screen as I do use my alarm few times throughout the day.
Huawei P9

Same thing happened to me (flashed B190 from B130). And even flashing it back to B130 didn't restore the magazine lock.
Found the default themes & wallpapers here
These seem to be mirrors from paulobrien, also an XDA user, however the links in his thread didn't work for me.
EDIT: original thread from paulobrien
and the default wallpapers/images here
Hope that helps mate, has taken me all night trying to find it all. Not sure why it's not included in any of the full roms I've downloaded & flashed.
Try here: https://plus.google.com/+AniketKumar_dev
I installed Dark Red Metallic theme on my P9 and it is a big improvement over stock. Iirc it possibly shows controls on lock screen too.

Hi, I have a Mate 9 but it might be similar.
I can't disable the EMUI lock in the developer options. It is greyed out saying: "Disabled by Administrator, encryption policy or credential storage"
Any idea. I really don't like the EMUI lock screen. Stock is so much better.

I can't seem to toggle it off it is grayed out any way around this?
same problem with my new mate 9. The magazine unlock is useless and annoying. I can't be bothered to take the extra step when unlocking the phone (I am used to swipe pattern and that's how it should be for me). Now, how to turn it off without taking the radical step of having to install new firmware..
Get the huawei themes app. Not the stock theme up but if you search the name on playstore you will find it. I use this to get access to other themes like copying other brands etc.
You get additional lock screens within that. If you just do a search of lockscreens as well, there is a good choice on the store.
thanks, now instead of changing the theme, what can we do to disable it?
Anyone know how to remove the magazine unlock if I've rooted the phone? I have no idea how to change it to something else.
