Galaxy Note 4 SM910T 4.4.4- SD Card Not Recognized - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Note 4 (Tmobile) SD Card unrecognized
Just purchased a used Tmobile Samsung Note 4 SM910T (upgrading from a Tmobile Note 3).
First thing I did was reset the phone to factory defaults with 4.4.4 and got it running. Everything seemed to work fine, programmed the finger print scanner (a nice feature), installed some apps. Seems to work like it's supposed to. Now, time to get the SD Card switched over.
Pulling the SD Card, (Sandisk Extreme 32gb (HC I) MicroSD) from the Note 3 and putting it into the Note 4, the SD Card was not recognized. So I put is back into the Note 3 to make sure there wasn't a problem, everything showed up fine, all files and pics where still there.
So I pulled the battery, thinking the card had to be in the slot upon boot up, I inserted the SD card and powered up the phone again. Still nothing, no SD Card detected. Humm...
I had an old 8gb Sandisk card laying around, popped it into my PC to see what was on it, had some files on there so I tried putting that SD Card into my new Note 4, nothing. Not recognized. I put the old card into my Note 3, shows up fine.
When I go into "Storage" and scroll down to the bottom, "Mount SD Card" Insert SD Card" are showing, but not the normal "Total Space" "Available Space" "Unmount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" even though the SD Card is inserted correctly into the SD Card slot of the phone. I again tested that SD card in my old Note 3, still shows up fine.
I have tried reformating the 32 gb SD card on my PC, trying all 3 options NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT. I even formated in the Note 3. None of those work, I get the same result. The Note 4 does NOT recognize an SD Card at all.
Bad Hardware?
Please help. Thank you

[Q] Problem with microsd card 64gb korean version

I just got my Sandisk class 10 64gb microsdxc card however, going to settings -> SD card, I don't see any other option but Mount SD card. When I click on it, it says Preparing SD card, then says Blank SD card while showing an SD card icon with an exclamation mark. Please help how to mount and format the card?? I have the korean version galaxy note shv-e160s. Thank you.
----Update----
I finally got it formatted on my computer it now says FAT32, I can copy files to it, drag & drop files to the SD card on my computer, however, when I insert it to the galaxy note it says Damaged SD card with exclamation mark. When I go to settings, I don't see any option except Mount SD card, clicking on it gives the same issue - says Preparing SD card then says Damaged SD card with the exclamation mark. Please HELP!! thank you.

micro SDXC Card
Just taken delivery of a 64GB card struggled to get it to be 'seen' by 'phone so formatted via adapter in PC card reader windows 7 only gave ntfs or exFAT as option - tried exFAT & 'phone still not picking up SD card, rebooted in to my Linux (kubuntu) & using KParted, formatted to FAT32, it is in the 'phone being loaded, up hooked up through the USB cable (on windows 7) with the backup of every thing from the 32GB card + more music etc all goes well, if I have trouble I will report back.
Oh if you don't have Linux. try using a digital camera to format the card.

[Q] 64gb microSDXC card can be opened on PC but phone says damaged SD card

I was able to format the card to Fat32. The computer on windows xp can open the card, able to drag & drop files, however, when I insert to galaxy note, phone says damaged SD card. When I go to settings, there's only one option: Mount SD card. When I clicked on it, says Preparing Card, then says Damaged SD card. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Android version: 4.0.3

solved finally!
OMG! It was driving me mad. I installed Minitool Partition (freeware) and formatted microSDXC 64gb to Fat32, I could see it on my PC but the galaxy note says Blank. Rebooted phone, still the same. Went back to Minitool Partition and formatted sd card to NTFS. Reinserted to galaxy note, still says blank sd. Went back to Minitool again and reformatted back to Fat32, run checkdisk, reinserted card to galaxy note and voila!! The awesome phone is finally seeing it! Patience is a virtue indeed...lol

good to know that checkdisk work
The most reliable way is to format the memory card on the Note itself.

Wasn't able to do that. No option to format on Pa. I used a tool which could be found in the sandisk topic. For me this was the only way to get it working.

Format on Phone
After waiting 50 days for my card to arrive i found that formating it in my Pc as NTFS woud make, when inserted in my G-Note (chilean N7000 with ICS 4.03 kernel 3.0.15) say it was nonworking filesystem and selecting the error message in the notification area give me the option to format in FAT32, now it works flawlessly and i'm very happy with the card, a 64GB sandisk class 6 i got from ebay at 64$ (us dollars) free shipping.

While SD card scan, it says "SD Card is Blank" and "It's safe to remove SD Card" ?

While SD card scan, it says "SD Card is Blank" and "It's safe to remove SD Card" ?
My phone was stuck when I unlocked it to use it a few minutes ago. I pressed the power button for a few seconds to reboot the phone. While rebooting, the sd card scan resulted in two errors with the messages "SD Card Blank" and "It's safe to remove SD card."
I researched this issue online, and most people who had this issue had their cards corrupted or they stopped working, and did not show any data when plugged into a laptop using an adaptor. I used the adaptor that came with my Samsung Class 10 32 GB card, and plugged it in my laptop - all the data is on the card, and I am able to read data from the card, although it is unable to copy some files. So, it seems the card itself is fine, (maybe).
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and how did you solve it? I am on Crickelo v8 ROM, speedmod k3-7 kernel.
EDIT:
While copying data from the sd card to my laptop, it seems the corruption got worse, and now the card is not accessible. I tried formatting the card in the phone, but it's not working. Can someone suggest a good formatting app?
Update:
While I was trying to copy files from my sd card for my computer, the sd card got corrupted. I ended up formatting my sd card using the recommended software (https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/) for my Samsung 32 GB Class 10 high speed card.

[Q] External SD being unmounted at boot time

Hello!
We have two phones here N7000:
Mine running Slimbean version 4.2.2.build8-OFFICIAL.
Another one (the one with the problems) running Samsung rom version 4.1.2 Baseband N7000XLT3 version number JZO54K.N7000XXLT5
My SDcard is Transcend Class 10 32 GB SDHCi, the other one has Sandisk 32GB Class 4 SDHC.
There are a few weird sympthoms I cant explain and was unable to fix:
When booting phone 2 (with the problem), it works on the first attempt, but after a second reboot - it automatically says in notification bar, that the external card can be removed - there is no option to remount it, or any indication why has it been removed.
If we insert the Class 4 microSD with the problem into adapter and into PC, it asks to format it. If we format it, the card works on the PC, but on the phone, after a second reboot - the notification pops up anyway and the card becomes unusable.
When we switch cards, and insert my Sandinsk Class 10 card into the phone 2, it worked for only the first boot - on second reboot, the notification about ejected card appears again.
His card on MY phone (number 1) - I was able to write some test, txt file and put content in it - but on the PC, the test file appears to be 0 bytes sized, and I cant even write to it...
When we switch cards back ,my phone no longer shows the external card's content.... I am not sure why, could it possibly be some virus formatting cards on the other phone? unlikely however...
These are all the sympthoms we have, and I have no idea what to make of them... please help
Could it be some kind of phone virus, toying with the external cards? something else?

I would suggest installing the SD and trying to see if booting up on a custom recovery you are able to see it. If in fact you can then it might be an error with the ROM and you might need to re-flash it or move to another one. I suggest TWRP since it is the one up to date and has a built in File Manager.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried doing a hard reboot (HOME/VOL UP/POWER) buttons,
clicked on "apply update from external storage" and got a response
"E: failed to mount /sdcard (no such file or directory) (in red)
if it is new phone and both cards are not recognized then looks like hardware problem. I would try sd card from different manufacturer than sandisk and if there are no positive results replace it under warranty.

Lol he received the marshmallow update 6.0!!!
Do not use Sandisk brand SD cards in the Note 4. They have widespread issues. Go buy a Samsung EVO and it will work.
