Hi everybody,
I wanted to learn some (basic) programming in VC# and the .Net Framework. So i looked for an idea. After a short time i had this idea, to create a program, in which you can keep track of your Fuel consumption of your car. (i think it is kind of useful, because the prices are changing every day).
I thought i'd share it here.. maybe someone is looking for a piece of software like this.. if not, just ignore it
you can test it, use it etc (whatever you want)..
Currently, there are two languages: German and English, but i dont love my English translation...
News:
v0.1.1 is now online:
I fixed the bug but another problem appeared: people who upgrade to the new version will lose all their data stored in data.xml with the uninstaller...
So i decided to create a simple Backup-Restore Function. Now, with the new version, you can Backup your Data before Upgrading and after that, you can restore it... If you use the Backup - the files will remain in your memory, until you delete them..
This is not the best way to solve the problem, because these files will stay on Memory even if the user uninstalls the program...
I read, that there is a way to costumize the setup process with a custom "Setup.dll" but i could not figure out how this works.. if anyone knows how to do this, please PM me..
Changelog:
v0.1.1 - 10/20/2008
fixed: storing units did not work
added: simple backup-function
added: simple restore-function
v0.1 - 10/19/2008
inital release
Beware: I will not guarantee for damage on your devices
If you have Bugs, ideas for new features or other feedback - let me know ..
This is a cool little program, would help a lot of people who have to teavel to work, etc..
I wish i had this when i was having some mileage problems with my car.
FuelCal
It looks good. I will give it a try.
Don't worry about your English, you can program!!!
Have a great day.
Glenn
FuelCal
Now for some more fun programming.
The store function is not storing the updated info.
It would be very useful for me if it would also calculate Mile/Gallon
Thanks.
Glenn
thanks for the feedback...
well i did not test the "Store" Feature for the Units ... bad in this case...
is will release a fixed version soon, stay tuned...
have a nice day
Just what i was looking for.
Thank you very much.
A bug
Hi. Excellent idea. You should check that on "Evaluation" the "price per Km" should be divided by 100 because it is done in cents but the unit says, when you change it, $/Km and not $cents/Km
Thanks.
Suggestion
Nice idea g3eB4Y. I will try the app.
This is something that could grow into a larger application if you want to track vehicle maintenance too. Also, I think that it would be helpful if you could simply enter the odometer reading and fuel quantity and allow the program to calculate distance.
First of all, thank you for your feedback...

I think there is nothing really wrong with the calculation.
When you change something on the settings page, you will only change the mask, but it will not affect the calculation..
The first Textbox under "Currency" will change the display for the "big-currency-unit" (€,$...) and the other textbox will change the "small-currency-unit" ($Cent, €Cent.. )
I can include a feature, that you really can change the calculation and display mode (€/km, €Cent/km, €Cent/20km ...) but at this moment, it does not

i have some idea for new features, i will try do implement them in one of the next versions, stay tuned...
its great to see, that somebody uses it... thank you!
g3eB4Y,
Very nice app you have. I've been using a excel spreadsheet to do this and now, I'm moving over to your app.
I wonder if you could add in another method of calculating the fuel consumption.
Distance travelled / No. of Litres = km/litre
Hope you can add that in to your next update.
Thanks once again.
PS:
No big deal but if you could name your cab file with the version number, it would be great!
well as my first week for android on NAND comes to a close i must say thanks to all for your help. these threads are the best in getting all the answers i need, and thanks also for the quick responses on the ones that i needed help with.
after trying all the flavors out there i must give props to Myns newest Eclair build. that has proven most favorable for my usage. thanks Myn keep up the good work. i look forward to more stuff from all you. and i mean what my signature means. if any of you need a tester, please PM me. i will gladly flash one, work it over a couple days and give you my opinion.
i am still stunned that i can get almost 10 hours out of a single charge and it only 2 hours to recharge. i had many reservations coming from winMO, but now that i have made the move, the reservations now seem trivial. the overall benefits work in my favor.
ok so there are some blue tooth issues, and some other fine tuning things, big deal. overall i give my experience above average marks.
i do have a few apps questions please
1. WinMO had a widget that gave one the ability to check mail and messaging and mark as read from the desktop area without having to open each individual message in messaging. is there such an app for android? i tried chomp but wasnt too impressed, and havent really found anything else to try after that.
2. i am a big landscape user- is there a keyboard that is a little bigger to accommodate the screen and 'clumsy thumbs?
3. there are some builds that have 'free market' does that mean that i can download anything and not pay for it?
4. i have read android will play mp4 video native. is there a free conversion tool out there someplace for a MAC? or maybe an android player that will do mov/avi video?
thanks again for all you have done. i look forward to more.

1. In incubus26jc's super eclair build he includes a messaging widget that may be what you're looking for. If you want just that widget. you can download his build and take the .apk file for the widget and move it onto your sd card or in an androidupdate.tar to install it. (pm me if you need further instructions).
2. Somewhere in the forum someone posted a QVGA/120dpi compatible HTC keyboard that comes stock on the Hero, etc. Many people prefer this and I believe the keys are a little bigger. Just search the threads for that.
3. No. The "free" means no paid apps will show up, only free ones.
4. I'm not sure. I don't use my vogue as a media device but I'm sure with a little googling you could find a solution.
Can use HandBrake for video conversion windows/mac/linux

Hey all,
For about 4 years I've been looking for a agenda wich can add photo's in it's events. I figured this would come eventually, yet its looking like I'm the only one who wants this feature.
Basicly: I'm lazy.. If i see a poster of a party or invitation of something (death's birthday's, etc.), i take a picture for later reference. When I feel like, I look back at them and add the info manually to agenda. It is however easier if my agenda would alow me to add photo's. I dont need more info then what's on a poster or on an invitation.
Does anyone have a tip if this is possible, or should i start learning to program in android and write my own agenda app?
If someone else is missing this feature too, I'd love to know!! I feel lonely atm.
I guess I'll have to start learning java / android programming..
Hi all!
I know this is probably way off topic and this forum might not even be the best place to ask but before I venture to unknown forums I wanted to start at home! I'm not sure if SQL is best to perform the task at hand or maybe a batch or Python script to run the SQL. Just looking for your thoughts and any ideas are much appreciated! Below is what I'm looking to do. Let me know if you need additional info to get me the best response!
We have an existing Database that is continuously being updated. What I need to do is run a Query, daily, and email the results to a particular email address. Each day I want the script to grab only the top 15 results. It would need to sorted by Due Date. We have a column for Completed but it doesn't need to show in the report but I would imagine that I need it in the query so the results can be updated each day. Out of all the columns in the DB I only need to Query about 6 and display in the results all 6 besides the Completed column.
If possible, I'd like the email to include the results in HTML format rather than an attachment. Thanks in advance for you help all!
Hello.
Im looking to creating a very simple application for a project work we have in school. We started off with four guys in the group, one guy kinda knew how to create apps and do the coding and whatnot but he switched groups last second. So considering we've already handed in the outline for the project which is stating that we're creating an application, we're kinda screwed.
Problem here; we don't know jack **** about creating applications. Our idea is to create the most basic "calendar app" where you open the app, you get the calendar immediately with all the dates. You press a date and when you do that you can write down stuff. Like a logbook pretty much.
So, considering our coding guy decided to leave us I now have to figure out a way to solve this on my own. Now Im just looking for pointers to get me started, consider the fact that I am completely oblivious to everything having to do with coding, and so are my two friends in my group. I understand we might be a lost case but any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
Send me a PM or reply to this thread, thanks in advance.
