my email on my Tilt keeps showing an error syncronizing message i cant send or receive email and i get that message when i hit the send/receive option, i have my email setup though gmial and outlook, any suggestions on fixing this?
Hmmm, sounds like something is wrong in the connections if I had to guess. I'd go back thru the setup (try this for the Gmail setup first), and when you get to the Outgoing Server settings, select the Advanced Server Settings and make sure the network connection is configured correctly - mine is set to connect to The Internet and it works fine. Also, do you always have this problem, or is it only with certain connections (wifi, activesync, GPRS/3G, etc.)?
I had this same problem after flashing my rom. Go into the Settings>Connection tab and make sure it is connecting thru the internet using MediaNet or My Connection. Click the advanced tab>select networks. The modem should be Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)- Access Point: wap.cinguar, User Name: [email protected], Password: CINGULAR1, Domain Field: blank. Advanced... >TCP/IP: first and last boxes checked (leave servers tab untouched).
Also if you are able to surf through Internet Explorer or MediaNet but cannot send/receive Emails. You should follow the directions from the above post since it's correct. Find the messaging feature. It should have a "Select and Account" screen. Click on Menu>Options- Look for your email service on the list, click on it. Make sure all your login info is correct. OUTGOING (SMTP) mail server for AOL is : cwmx.com, both boxes checked on that screen. Then click Advanced Server Settings. Network Connection: should be set to MEdiaNet or your primary connnection. CLICK DONE!
Let me know if this helps
Info:
- HTC Diamond US Version 3G/Quadband
- AT&T Sim card w/ active data plan
Problem:
- Cannot connect to internet. Exchange server does not sync.
When I try to go to say google within Opera or IE it does not connect. Opera gives me this red screen saying unable to access network.
I am however able to use the phone and send/receive text messages.
Troubleshooting:
- Called HTC, no help
- Called AT&T, don't support the phone, no help
- Best Buy sells the phone so I went in there, no help.
- Went to an AT&T store, no help
- Search function within this forum didnt reveal anything.
- I did take my SIM and try it in another HTC Diamond and same thing. So I am ruling out the phone being the problem.
Note: this SIM card works like a charm in my Samsung Blackjack2 and my Jailbroken iPhone.
PLEASE somebody help me!!!
I am pretty tech savvy and have been searching the net for 2 days.
If you need more info, please ask. Could be a data connection settings that i need to manual input?

Help us out. What are your internet settings? Did you run the setup wizard for AT&T?
I inserted the SIM, followed instructions, set it up to autmatically detect AT&T settings.
I sets up the connection as Media Net which i believe is right.
I actually just had my first advance. I was able to get internet by removing the proxy server from the Media Net connection.
So internet is solved. Just trying to figure out how to sync with my exchange. Which i have done with other phone a dozen times with no problems (so i know my user name, pass, domain and stuff are accurate)
What else do you need to know.
Every setting
I read this in another thread:
I tried the connection wizard and couldn't get online. I deleted the connection and manually setup a connection called Cingular GPRS:
Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
wap.cingular
User: [email protected]
PW: CINGULAR1
That's it. No domain or advanced server settings.
that enabled internet for me. not able to sync my exchange server still. small chance it could be something small i am doing wrong.
Where can I locate "edit account setup"???
taken from this -
For e-mail, you have to edit the "Advanced Server Settings" under "Edit Account Setup". There is a drop down box "Network Connection." I believe it defaults to "The Internet" which never works for me. You can either change it to Media Net or a custom connection if you make your own.
YouTube doesn't work with the Media Net connection because of the proxy. You can either disable the proxy in the Media Net connection or create a new connection that has the proxy disabled. I usually do option 2 and create a "No Proxy" connection that is identical to Media Net except no proxy. (I like to leave the Media Net w/Proxy just in case I need to access some AT&T thing.) I then set all apps to use the "No Proxy" connection (mail, MMS, etc)
Problem Solved.
Solution:
Once you insert the SIM and follow the setup. NOTE: the setup provided for Media Net is not correct. Follow my steps in post #5 by deleting the Media net and making your own.
Once this is done, then you will have access to the internet. Then you can setup your email exchange.
If you setup your email exchange first, it will not work. Follow steps in Post #5 then go back and erase your mail account. Start a new account and bingo.
Hope this helps some newbies like me.

Hi
I've been trying to setup an IMAP account on the built in email. But can't seem to connect to it, it says:
"Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that your login information is correct, then try again to send and receive email"
But I'm definitely sure all email account info is correct.
Wierd thing is, when I go back to the email Accounts setup, I notice the password there rather than ******* 7 characters long password it is like ********************** 20 characters long. I've tried changing back to the real password, but still don't work and if I check the Accounts setup again, the password, again shows really long like ***********************
I've tried accessing my IMAP email account through the internet on the phone via Opera, and that's working OK.
Any ideas?
Mmmm...
Can't really help you with your settings, but I can answer one question for you. The masked password is always a long string of ****'s. This is so no one can guess the actual number of characters in your password.
I've never set up an IMAP account, as I use POP3. I had an issue years ago when I was first trying to figure out how to set email up on these things, but I'd just got the incoming pop address wrong. I went on the internet and Googled the proper settings. Sorry I can't be of any more help
During the email set up there is a link for Advanced Server Settings. There there are settings for Require SSL for Incoming/Outgoing email. You might try toggling those. It depends on the IMAP server setup. Which IMAP server are you trying to connect to? I run my own IMAP server. The difference between IMAP and IMAPS (i.e. with SSL) is that you connect on a different port. If your IMAP server only accepts IMAPS then it's listening on one port but you're asking on another.
I've noticed that the email doesn't work when using activesync for network, but it's fine if using WiFi for example.
Actually, the problem is probably Activesync itself, as I have network problems with it... Activesync seems unable to remember proxy settings, its like it works after the initial setup , for a few minutes, then any proxies that were setup there are gone a few minutes later, just dissappears and consequently the network won't work anymore until I manually set it up again
Hi,
I'm an IT Student in my last year university in Belgium. My campus uses a network where hotspots are available every 5meters.
The network encryption is WPA2 and I succeeded to get connection with the school network but I can't set up a proxy to browse internet or use Windows Live Messenger on my Diamond.
Can anyone help me with this? I used Google and other search engines possible solutions but none worked.
I tried setting up a proxy under my connection tab and changing the network type to 'work' but that didn't help.
Any suggestion or push in the right direction are very appreciated!

Hi,
Same Problem here. Any Solution?
For browser proxy, try opera:config in the opera built-in browser and setup the proxy. For msn, I couldn´t find a solution yet.
I know for browser you can use an older version of Opera which has configurable proxy settings.
For MSN you can just use Ebuddy or something I guess?
Is that like a system wide proxy?
sorry to double post but that filename doesnt look very 'safe'. can anybody verify what it is?
Hi. I have the same problem here. I enable the proxy but it has no effect. Please any help?
Hello, I found a solution to use proxy on opera browser: type "opera:config" in address bar, then select proxy menu and set the proxy.
seeu!
"Private DNS" set to "Auto" sends every URL you visit to Google, even with VPN
Settings>>Connection & sharing>>Private DNS: Off/Automatic/Private DNS provider hostname
Changing this setting to Automatic will use Google as your DNS. This will OVERRIDE your VPN DNS and send your information directly to Google.
I have been trying to figure out why my phone is suddenly leaking DNS queries. (dnsleak.com) It looks like Xiaomi.eu has made "automatic" the default setting.
If you are using a VPN, just turn it off. Or you can enter a DNS hostname.
I tried to post this at Xiaomi.eu, but I can't even register an account there. Hopefully someone other than me cares about this.
Great suggestion!
I was getting crazy after I reset wifi settings on a Pocophone.
It was reset by default to on and it was bypassing my pi-hole DNS.
In addition, it is risky when using a VPN.
