Unlocking Not Working - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought my Nexus 6 through AT&T last November. It is paid off and I am in my normal right to unlock. I requested my code from AT&T, but it doesn't work when entered. Anyone else experience this? I get the unsuccessful error upon entering the code.
I do have the boot loader unlocked, customer Kernel, and root. Does this make a difference and potentially could be causing my issue?? Any other solutions?
Thanks

I don't think it's the modifications to your device. My N6 was bootloader unlocked, decrypted kernel, and rooted when I used the AT&T supplied carrier unlock code.
FWIW: the 1st attempt to unlock it, it didn't work for me. On the 2nd attempt (after a reboot in between) it did work. Sorry, but I don't have a clue why...

I think you might have to be stock for the code to work. I know some of my phones in the past, you had to be stock.

You might be right. But, for God's sake, don't relock the bootloader!

I remember a carrier version of the HTC hero wouldn't accept the code on stock. I had to root and Rom it to get the code to work.. That's how I got into all this.

That's likely a SIM unlock code, which will allow the phone to work with a carrier other than the one that sold it. There's also a bootloader unlock code that we're supposed to be able to get direct from HTC at htcdev.com that will allow us to flash custom software to the phone, but right now nobody seems to have succeeded in getting that.
As bjg222 said. That is sim unlock to use it on another GSM carrier.

Yeah, most reports so far say that the AT&T version gives an error when going through the process on htcdev.com. (Haven't tried it personally, my phone won't be here till tomorrow)

I did go through the HTCDev.com site and followed the directions to submit for a Bootloader Unlock Code. It does error out say CID Not Allowed. This doesnt surprise me give the phone launched on Sunday.
I'm actually looking for a SIM unlock so I can use the Raider with a non Bell SIM. Tried Cellunlocker.net and despite the site saying they have it (and paying for it) I was emailed a couple of days later with a refund saying they don't have it yet.
Anyone know of a site that has the unlock code?

[Q] Need help to Sim Unlock AT&T HTC One

Looking to unlock an AT&T version of the HTC One to T-Mobile. I do have an unlock code but it's not working. The phone is rooted and running ARHD 51. I just flashed a different stock rom, tried the code once again but still no luck.
Any suggestions?

I heard you need to be stock to use a sim-unlock code so you might want to try back to 100% stock then use the code. If it still don't work then maybe you could purchase a new code.

Check your IMEI number and cross reference it with your original to make sure they match. My phone is doing the same thing and it came back from mobile tech videos jtag repair and my numbers are all wrong. Looking for a solution now but my serial number and IMEI numbers are different.

Do some searching here (in the Q&A) section, there were quite a few SIM Unlock threads solved (quite a while ago), I can't exactly remember, but it used to be a combo of
1- stock rom (or very close) but matching to firmware version
2- possibly stock recovery
3- possibly locked/relocked bootloader
4- s-off / s-on doesn't matter
I believe number 1 was the most important, can't say/remember about 2 and 3, and quite sure S-Off won't matter.

you don't need s-off, you just need to relock the bootloader
Hmmm still no luck. Been working at this for a while now, not sure what the problem is. Selling it is the only solution I can think of right now, but there must be a way to unlock this for my carrier.
Hello. I have a similar issue, so I don't think I should create another topic.
I just purchased a 64gb HTC One and purchased the unlock code from the same vendor as always. I was always able to unlock other devices (One XL, One X+, Windows phone 8X) easily, and even other Ones, since this is my fouth (first one I gave to my brother, second slipped off my pocket while in a tunnel riding my motorcycle and the third is 32gb, so I decided to sell it and buy a 64gb).
This one is used like new, everything stock, s-on, nothing unusual. Well, except the led seems to be smaller (very hard to see the red dot while charging) and the system may be newer, since it doens't find any update available.
But the code doesn't work. I tried twice thinking I could be misspelling the numbers, but returned wrong anyway.
So...
1-What happens if I try again and it returns wrong, since it's showing it's my last try?
2-Any clue?
Thanks in advance.
Does your phone work on any network? What carrier is it branded?
Best thing is to email (carrier) support and get a code from them.
This thread is for devices that have a security cross reference back end problems.
Does your phone say it accepts the code then restarts then asks for the code again?

In my experience, I'm not getting anything showing my number of attempts or last attempt. I've tried the unlock code about 8-10 times on different roms stock and non stock and stock recovery. I really have no idea.

Thanks for your answer.
All my HTCs always shown a counter.
Today, after restoring the phone to stock ruu, it wasn't showing any counter anymore, so I decided to try again the code I purchased (and other code sellers confirmed) and it worked.
Very strange... but now it's unlocked.

After a lot of painstaking effort, I managed to flash a stock RUU, got back to a stock recovery, and locked the bootloader. Got the same unlock code from two separate vendors. No dice. Incredibly frustrating, don't know what's wrong with my phone but now I have to sell it.

Sprint Moto X Bootloader

I'm trying to unlock my boot loader on my sprint moto x but it keeps telling me it can't be unlocked. Now I contacted Motorola and they said it can't be bootloader unlocked because my phone is not activated... I'm using the replacement phone they sent me. I sim-Unlocked it and am now using straight talk att Sim. But I want to root my phone.

Did you unlock your previous phone? AFAIK, the phone doesn't need to be activated in order to unlock it - I wouldn't trust the Moto support people - they know less than most of us do.
You must follow the procedure exactly to get your unlock code. Confirm that you have taken the unlock data, pasted it into notepad, removed ALL spaces and [bootloader] messages, and made it into one single, contiguous string of characters. Then copy and paste this string into the Moto Unlock website.
Sometimes the website can be glitchy - others have reported success using a different browser, or trying again at a later time. If you are doing it correctly, it should work.

I did successfully unlock the bootloader on the previous moto x I had before they sent me a new one. That one was activated on sprint. And I took the same steps I did when I did my first moto x and I keep getting the error. I never activated it back on sprint because I'm not using it for sprint. And the only reason it was activated before on sprint was I brought it off craigslist. It was pointless for me to activate it on sprint if I'm not gone use it on sprint.
Another thing, how do I get rid of the activation screen that comes up when I turn the phone on.

All I can suggest is try again. Other users have unlocked phones that were never activated...heck - GSM phones don't even 'get activated'.
Hopefully your phone wasn't stolen or something...that would prevent you from getting an unlock code. But if that were the case, your IMEI should be blacklisted and you shouldn't be able to use it at all...
As far as the activation prompt, you MUST be unlocked in order to get rid of it. Then, use this custom SBF provided by ezeuba that bypasses activation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/rooted-sprint-moto-x-sbf-t2834891
If nothing else you can wait and hope that Dan releases a tool to exploit his BL-unlock vulnerability he has discovered. There is no time-frame as to when it might be released, though. At least you can use the phone now, even the way it is...

The site can be glitchy. Keep trying (maybe tomorrow) or try a different browser. Confirm that you have entered the unlock data exactly as instructed. They have not stopped offering unlock codes for the XT1056 - they just have a less-than-perfect unlock website.

[Q] Just Got My Nexus 6 From Google Store - IS IT UNLOCKED?

Hoping for some help here...
I ordered my nexus 6 from Google Store while it was on sale for the "Father's Day and Grads Sale". I saved $150! I haven't gotten my invite for Project Fi yet, but really wanted to save money on the phone.
Is this handset already UNLOCKED?

you can, but I'd recommend doing g it the right way the first time. anyways, bootloader needs to be unlocked, you flash a recovery, then flash SuperSU. when you boot up, you'll have root.
Nexus devices do not come with unlocked bootloaders, they come with unlockable bootloaders. You'll need to unlock it.

What happens when you try?
I just tried. It says "Unlock Failed. This mobile device is not eligible for unlock." I get that every time. I know if you are on T-Mobile you can just call 611 and they will unlock it if you don't owe money on it.
It does approve a TEMPORARY unlock for me though
I was able to successfully unlock(Atleast the app claimed) my phone only if I was flashed over to the stock firmware. I can't remember if it was rooted or not.
I also unlocked mine after rooting. I was running a stock rooted ROM debloated when I did it.
That app is dumb, when I was done paying my phone it was unlocked without me even using the app. I know cause I unlocked the bootloader even before trying the app and it worked. So the app is pretty much a waste. This was before marshmallow was released for this phone.

Can you please explain more on it, I have T-Mobile LG G4 and wants to unlock it.
That's to SIM unlock the phone, not unlock the bootloader. T Mobile never locked the bootloader to begin with
i've sim unlocked mine via device unlock app with root and unlocked bl. Just make sure you are stock based when trying to unlock, not cm based.
I did.
As soon as I paid mine off, I used the app to permanently unlock mine and it's done.
100% stock and rooted.
