Actually it could be possible by tweaking the kernel to mount the SD card partitions to /system, /data, /cache etc., but I'm not sure.

Thanks Tomoms
Year ago i saw universal method (without kernel support).

so can we have this thng working plz

[Q] How to copy installed Apps to External SD in ICS (Or Gingerbread if have to)

Hi there, I know that theres a lot of posts on this forum regarding this issue but i didn't find comprehensive answer to how to move Apps to an External SD card on the G Note.
I'm not an expert with Android as I am in the transition from the iPhone, but I'm not too much of a noob as I have a bit of knowledge due to hacking and jailbreaking with the iPhone.
Now here is my problem. I have a lot of Apps that are hogging my storage and I have come to a point where I cannot install anymore Apps. When I try to copy it to the external SD card (16gb Class 10), it is actually copying it to the internal SD card. I have tried all those Apps like App2SD and I still haven't had any luck. I even tried all the tutorials on this site and still no luck.
I know there are easy methods with Froyo, but I don't want to downgrade as I am currently on "ICS(4.0.4) Stunner Beta 5.0" and it runs like a dream on the Note! If worse case scenario that I have to downgrade to achieve this, the lowest I will go back to is a factory rooted Gingerbread.
Even when I was on factory rooted Gingerbread I still had this same problem before the upgrade.
Right now the only way is to edit vold.fstab file but that will cause bigger issues with ICS and Stunner in particular
Your best hope is wait for a new version of Stunner where the internal sd card is mounted @ /mnt/emmc and the external sd card is mounted @ /mnt/sdcard and that should solve your issues completely
I read Neo talking about it and I think he will implement this structure in the next release
Thanks for the quick reply! Thats great news.. If i have to wait for a Stunner update, is there another ICS or Gingerbread release or tweak that could fix this?

I have micromax funbook with ICS 4.0.3..in my tablet internal sd card is mounted @ /mnt/sdcard and the external sd card is mounted @ /mnt/extsd - Even I need a solution as most HD games are huge and its usable internal memory is only around 2gb.
In my friends Samsung Galaxy S external sd card was mounted as "sd card" and we were able to move installed apps to 16gb memory card need this fix.

Try searching re-partitioning your internal memory. It increases your current 2 GB Max internal memory to 4-6-8-10 GB by reducing your internal sd card. This way you can install many apps without having to move it here n there. thread is by @metalgearhathaway.
A problem
Actually, i modified the vold.fstab file and partially bricked my tablet. It gets stuck on the booting logo and recovery console seems to be useless because the wipe data/factory reset option doesn't work. It's an A23 based 7 inch tablet for which i'm unable to find a ROM to flash it with. Any help would be appreciated. Or is there any way to re-modify the vold.fstab file to the old state? Or to reset the ROM?

Thanks for your answer.
I read somewhere - don't remember where unfortunately, that SD Cards above 32GB (SDXC?) needs to be formated in FAT32. Is that what you mean? I've heard too, that some custom ROMs requires some other SD Card partition - extSD or something. Then when I'll format new card in FAT32 is it still possible to flash custom ROMs and will they handle this card?
Thanks in advance for your answer

i think that fat32 format will work for sure both on stock and on custom roms, but exfat needs additional drivers which are not present for stock, so will only work on (most) custom roms.

yes of course. but didn't solve the problem still same
Use a Sd adapter and see if your sd card has multiple partitions that could be one of the cause

it has only one partition FAT32. the problem only found in nougat rom like the new cusrom DOTOs. when i change back to MM like lineage 13 it works well
I think your sd card has multiple partitions too. Let's use Minitool partition wizard to delete a partition

How to save roms, etc on external sd card?

Hi all,
I would like to do a clean install, which requires wiping most partitions. Where/how do you store the ROMs you would like to install? The external SD card is not accessible in an obvious manner, I believe, because it is mounted as an extension to the base file system. So where do the ROM's go and how to avoid having their partition wiped?
Thanks for the help!
I should mention the os is Lineage 15,. Android v9.
i think there is no option. I had to unmount the card (lost all the date and apps there), and remount as an external card.
