Helium transfer - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to move all my data from my Nexus 6 to my new Note 5. I backed up my data on the Nexus 6 and moved the file to SD Card storage option on my Note 5(Carbon folder name). When I try to restore it on my Note 5 from the Helium app it sees no back up. What am I missing here?

I wish I could help. I did the same thing with my Note 2 to my Note 5 and it sees my backups.

[Q] Upgrading to Droid 4

I'm finally upgrading from my OG Droid to a Droid 4. My OG Droid is rooted and running CM7. I just wanted to make sure I correctly transfer all of my data to my new phone. Here is what I'm planning on doing:
1. Backup everything on my old phone using Titanium Backup, and sync to my dropbox
2. Activate new phone.
3. Root new phone using Droid 4 Utility 0.4 for windows.
4. Sign in to google account on new phone, allow Market to install apps.
5. Insert SD card from old phone into new phone. Use Titanium Backup to restore data and missing apps to new phone.
Am I missing anything, or should I do things in a different order?

Given the locking back plate on the d4 and the need for a special tool to remove it, I'd go ahead and insert the sd card at the same time as the sim card before you activate the phone. That's how they handled the activation on the d4's for the wife and I.
Don't forget to tell Titanium Backup on your D4 to use /sdcard-ext instead of /sdcard, otherwise it won't see your backups.

Would it be better to just copy from my sd card to the internal memory? I'm probably going to put the sd card back into the og droid.

Either way would work. It's a matter of preference since one is just as good as the other.
Also, the back plate is tough, but you don't actually need the tool to remove it. The tricky part is that you need to lift the SIM cover to insert the SD card.

Backing up apps

I am coming from Samsung. Had Galaxys since day one. Obviously, they have external sd slots and this does not. My question is, is there a program like titanium backup or Helium to backup straight to computer?
When we flash new ROMs, all of that info is erased in full wipe, correct? Is there a way to save only the TB or Helium data? I used the external sd to store that data until full wipe and flashing of new ROM was complete.
Thanks for any input.
You don't need a external SD slot. Similar to your galaxy, there is internal storage on your phone.
No, wiping does not wipe your internal storage unless you tell it to. By default it does not wipe the internal storage.
All files and whatnot will not be removed or moved.

Not to my knowledge but I know you can use Titanium Backup and sync your backups to the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox) or manually sync your backups with your desktop.

If you plan on using Titanium Backup, Pro is recommended for batch 1 click anyways

I follow the steps and after reboot, all data in sd card erased and shows 'dameged sd card' and on trying format, it says "external storage in unknown state". I have 16GB class 10 sd card. Please rewrite the steps you did please!!! My phone is Xiaomi note 3G and TWRP rooted

I am in office , so for now only below steps are req for using this app.
Download FolderMount from playstore
1)Click add to add a folder pair
2)Select a source directory that you want to move files from. This should be somewhere in your internal sdcard. Usually located at /mnt/sdcard
3)Select a destination directory that you want to move files to. This should be some folder in your external sdcard or OTG drive.
4)FolderMount will offer to move the files to the destination. Click yes.
5)After the moving process is done, click on the pin. If the pin is green, you're all set.
Note: The files will appear in both the source and destination after pinning them. This is normal as the files that you see in your internal sdcard are actually located on your external sdcard. This is how FolderMount "tricks" apps that don't have the ability to save explicitly to the external sdcard.
I f u are still confused let me know i will create a post with Images .
Post please

Dont move complete app to SD Card it will slow down your mobile , only move Data files, anyways Apps without datafiles are too small.
My configuration:
SD card size: 16 GB
Partition 1 (for music, images, etc): FAT32 13 Gb approx
Partition 2 (for app): EXT4 2 GB approx
Partition 3 (swap): 1 GB approx
Hi,
I follow the steps and don't understand why I want a second partition of size 1GB wasted. Why not 200mB instead?
also, I try foldermount on redmi note 4G. the pair seem not running itself after reboot. And it seems that it does not receive a "android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" on boot. Any fix?
You will want foldermount as the big data files of the apps made the big troubles. The free version of link2sd do not move the data file to the external storage.
Please comment.

Coming from note 3 - how to titanium backup restore

I always have been a Samsung guy, so the nexus line is new to me.
Now I'm waiting for my verizon nexus 6 unit to arrive..
Question : with no memory card slot, what's the best way to bring my titanium backup apps on to the nexus for restore?
Is the only way by manually copying and pasting the files /folders?
Yes. Same as every other device
Yes that's what I did with my s3. The difference is when it goes to restore it'll be 2-5 times faster than it used to be with your old phone. This thing is a rocket.
In theory you could back up to Dropbox then start your phone download the Dropbox app download titanium backup then restore. Easier just to hook up a USB cable.
You can download titanium backup right from their website here: http://matrixrewriter.com/android/files/TitaniumBackup_latest.apk

Flash roms on Oneplus 3T coming from Note 4

So I'm coming from a Note 4, and I was so used to having a microSD card with all my pictures, Titanium backups, music on my SD card. Thus I would flash away not worrying about losing those, how do users go about doing it on the oneplus 3? Do you move it to a computer, cloud and then wipe everything?

Pretty much, yes. Expecially since the internal storage is encrypted and there's a big risk that data won't be decrypted when moving to different ROM with different encryption method/version. I solve this by syncing folders to my Synology NAS using DS Cloud.
I have one of these, handy to make full stock backups if anything goes wrong. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B010HWCEHM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rRaEybHTNAB82
I came from note 4 as well. Just dont wipe internal memory. I also move all stuff to drive that i don't want to lose.

This. There is a separate partition for your rom data and for internal storage (the "SD card" of the op3t). Do NOT wipe internal storage when you wipe the system, cache and data partitions and you'll be fine. Factory reset in TWRP by default does NOT wipe internal storage, so you honestly have nothing to worry about unless you accidentally select and wipe it.
