Hello forum,
Like many of you I received my Galaxy S6 yesterday. After turning it on I naturally check the XDA forum to see if anyone had obtained root. I didn't realize that root may not even be possible, not to even mention custom ROMs. I wanted to know if it would be advisable to go and buy the T-Mobile version, should I buy an internationally version, or should I wait and hope the boot loader can be unlocked? I really miss Cyanogenmod on Samsung device for a true super Nexus experience like how my GS3 was. Unfortunately, I bought the GS4 and had my boot-loader locked down so the best I could do was Safestrap and the Google Play Edition Rom by Joe-Tech, but I still long for the feeling of the device truly being mine. Another concern is that anytime I had a real issue with the phone, like if I bricked it, or if the charging port stop working I could take it to the AT&T device store and just get a new (Samsung refurbished) phone. My 14 days are ticking away and I don't know what to do, I would really appreciate if some forum members could point me in the right direction. I signed up for the Next program with AT&T at Best Buy when I got it, so how would that be effected if I returned the device. Also, how do I use the menu key, if I hold the Recent key (the menu key) it just the multitasking window?
Thanks,
N7spaceuser
Bump.
Buy the unlocked version. SM-G920I. You can find it on eBay, thepowersellers.com, and a couple other places. Works perfect on AT&T, LTE and all. Unlocked bootloader, no bloat, faster updates, no AT&T bs. What are you people doing buying from AT&T?
So I bought a brand new, paid off, clean IMEI galaxy s6; tmobile branded.
I made the stupid mistake, that buying any carrier branded galaxy s6, be it att or tmobile, would still be unlockable; my prior galaxy s5 and s6 experience with att were unlocked by requesting such online, and I never had an AT&T account in my life. This time, I went with t-mobile, thinking it didnt matter which variant I got, as a phone purchased and paid for in full, should still be unlocked for free, without the need of having an account.
well, it turns out I was wrong. T-mobile, not only wont unlock my phone, but DOES NOT EVEN RECOGNIZE IT. Da ****?
My imei is showing on swappa, checkesn and other sites as clean, no balance and no blacklist but tmobile themselves, can not verify if its even a tmobile phone, but only if its blacklisted or not. They have informed me that if I want to unlock the phone, I have to meet the requirements set forth. The problem is, how the heck can I meet any requirements, or start the process of trying to meet them, if they cant even recognize the phone as a tmobile phone.
Ive contacted samsung and they are of no help either. I havent been able to go to tmobile store yet to see if they can help me (my hours make it almost impossible to get to a store during business hours).
Im at a loss here, what do i do to verify the phone is legit? Also, is there any way I can bypass tmobiles requirements to get my phone unlocked? Not sure what others experiences were but maybe theres a way to get i unlocked, without tripping knox/flashing and without having to be a tmobile customer for 40-60 days plus 100-120 dollars spent.
If anyone here can help/offer some suggestions, Im open to it and would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks ya'll
You sure it not from metro pcs? Same hard ware different software but interchangeable.
To unlock check out the thread by stifilz he can probably help but remote connect with donation.
Metro PCS phone probably. Buddy of mine bought a "tmobile" phone and ran into the same issue. Found out it was actually a Metro PCS phone.
I'm ashamed to even ask.....
Former TMO S3 owner here who switched to Nexus and never looked back. Things are just so much easier now with firmware updates and rooting.
We currently pay cell bills for one of our workers and his wife on our TMO family account. His wife was using my old S3, and without talking to me first, he bought her a SIM locked ATT S6 online recently.
I'm working on a SIM unlock code, that won't be a problem.
I'm right in thinking that there's no (current) way to load a TMO S6 ROM onto the ATT S6, right?
Bootloader still locked up tight on ATT?
I know that in the past some of the Galaxy S phones had hardware differences......are the ATT and TMO S6 variants now the exact same hardware (other than exterior logos)?
Sorry for what seems to be an obvious and already asked question. I know someone asked the same question back in August.....wondering if anything has changed since then.
Thanks for all replies.
Yup, bootloader locked tight, can't even get a root working besides the people who are selling it
I bought Galaxy S8 on Ebay. It turned out that he was on the blacklist. Is there any solution for unlocking the SIM card. I'm outside the US ...
IMEI repair.
IMEI repair is not even an option for this model, because it need the device to be ROOTED. However, there is another option you can try. I never try this my self, you should try IMEI cleaning service, it's not like imei repair, it just remove the blockage, and you still be able to have the original IMEI ( i don't think you can use it on the same carrier). Word of advise, never buy new release carrier phone on ebay, mostly because of scam like that.

Will device unlock app work when imei is cleaned or whitelisted or repaired? Do you have specific knowledge on this issue? Sim unlock on Tmobile has been a pain since like 2 months ago. Nobody able to offer service again except Tmobile.

I was worse off, I bought the device from a user that was unlocked from T-mobile. Assumed unlocked = bills paid (yeah I know, stupid me). Worked for a little bit on AT&T and then the phone notified me that it was only a temporary unlock (didn't even know this existed), relocked itself, and also was blacklisted (on T-mobile). There's a service here that seems to have good reviews but of course a little to rich for me right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/T-Mobile-Un...446916?hash=item41ca551184:g:gLoAAOSw8GtZOww8
Do you unlock your device?

S8 T-Mobile blacklisted
So, did anybody found the way to unlock the Samsung s8 tmobile blacklisted??? :crying:
So T-mobiles policy is if the phone is not paid off an account goes past due - gets canceled not paid or reported lost or stolen or if not traded back in from warranty or insurance then it is blacklisted..... just so everyone is aware. If that phone is blacklisted it is likely one of those things I would like to point out eBay has buyer protection in place for that you can contact them if the seller doesn't rectify it firs. Also to the people suggesting IMEI Repair for no nefarious purpose, of course, you would likely need a bootloader unlock and proper root to even do that.
do a search on the web for R-SIM 11
I know it can unlocked blacklisted iphones, not sure it is works on android devices
Blacklisted
Does anyone know what function needs to be turned off for the blacklist to be undone, i have found the phone code that gets me into that part of the phone i just dont know what part i need to turn off to undo the block anyone know that by chance.
unlock s8
hi,
i bought an s8 from ebay, it was at first working w/ mint (which runs on t-mobile) but when i took it outside of the US, it wouldn't work. i contacted T-Force & was told that the imei was clean but needed to talk to accounting or some other dept to see if it had a balance to be paid or something which didn't make any sense to me.
if anyone has encountered this situation please let me know how to resolve it, i tried changing the rom but it didn't work.

Could you explain how to ROOT the device. I bought an S8 second hand and tuned up to be blacklisted and google account blocked. I managed to remove google account with odin and combination file but no idea how to clean the imei and unblacklist. Help me to save my £350 purchase. never again second hand but not in the position to buy brand new.:crying:
Many Thanks in advance
Hi I used the app I offer to purchase a a Samsung Galaxy s8. Now before I bought it the person told me it was Google locked and the phone shop wanted additional 40 bucks to unlock it and I told him I don't want to pay extra for it I'll just buy it as it is. He gave me the IMEI and i checked on swappa before hand. It says clean and is not blacklisted or anything. I YouTubed some videos on how to bypass the Google account. And I downloaded a software called "Odin" and some other files along with Samsung drivers to install but when I got to the first step it said "failed". Everytime I do a hard reset it says "MetroPCS" but it is a Verizon phone and it said on the top corner when I was trying to download the stuff to bypass the Google account it said "original carrier is Verizon" the person told me he was able to use MetroPCS and T-Mobile on it so I'm thinking it's unlocked but I'm not sure. He didn't steal the phone because I asked and checked the IMEI. So I'm not sure what's going on. And is there a way I can bypass the Google account? I did it before for s6 edges and other Android devices. I'm not sure how to do it for this one. I paid good money for it because phone seems in excellent condition. Here's the werid part. I bought another s8 straight from Samsung as a trade in deal for T-Mobile. I read on the back it was made in China and the Google locked s8 I bought was orchid gray and it said made in Vietnam. Plus it was very lightly printed. Could it be a fake s8? And on the back it reads SM-G950U as the model number and I can provide the IMEI if anyone can help me. I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this. Thanks.
What??
