bricked? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got the Note 4 N910T3
I rooted, via the beast kernal. Everything was going fine until I decided to factory reset (had a few programs go haywire)
factory reset went fine, I reinnitialized android with my google information. Rebooted the phone, and now I'm stuck at "custom binary blocked by frp"
It's my fault for not rechecking the option in developer settings, but its too late
I can get into download mode, but simply booting, or getting into recovery give me that error.
what can I do to get my phone booting?

Odin back to stock I guess?

I'm willing to give that a shot, but where would I go about finding the stock odin file? the only files I can seem to find are modded ones for the N910T, not the N910T3

Dont know if this link is legit, but check it out

That would be the factory reset protection, you need to odin the stock images back on, run through the setup as fast as possible, open developer options, and turn on OEM Unlocking. From there you can flash whatever you'd like. The FRP will also block insecure kernels, and recoveries from being loaded.

That's exactly what I did. And it worked. This just so happened to be the first and only phone I've had with frp. Learn something new everyday.

Ok, I did what you said, now it just goes to 'logo_ql.jpg' draw failed. It also wont let me get back into download mode, it just goes to this message. now what?
EDIT, nevermind, got it into download mode... guess i just need to keep trying different roms to figure out which one works?
You said your note came from repair and it was on download mode. I think it was NOT REPAIRED AT ALL. Country or region has nothing to do with manual flashing. You only need region when using kies to update.

Tbere is no need to try different roms as every rom is like same. Not much difference. Maybe your device is hard bricked and writing isn't possible. Get your motherboard replaced.

Don't ever wipe using stock ICS kernel. It will hard brick your device. I think now already got affected. Flash a safe kernel first then wipe.

So I have a question. I had tried rooting my device and it failed into a soft brick. Previously I had jzo54k on there. Using Odin I installed the Poland software but it seemed to have failed because now I am not able to register on a network. I have an international version of the Note 2 that I am using in the US. Since I am not able to connect to a network I am lost as to what to try. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Hi
My stock JB official unrooted rom suddenly went to a bootloop. I looked up online for solutions and flashed an official JB ROM for my phone and Odin failed to flash it. I tried Philz recovery but Odin failed to flash it. I got a yellow triangle which I was able to removie through Odin. Currently my phone is stuck on the splash screen. Recovery doesn't work. Odin fails when I try to reflash with a md5.tar file. Please experts help me with my problem. would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Go to sammobile.com. you have to register but it's free. You can get the stock roms there. You'll download a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file and use that in odin. Use odin v1.85.

You'll need to put a custom recovery on your tab using Odin. Flash it just like the stock rom. Then you'll need to flash superuser-busy box thru the custom recovery. Download that on you tab. I have the files on dev host and I'll post links for you when I get on my pc.

Use install in twrp (the recovery) to install super user. Then boot, once booted look for super su in your apps and click on it. It will update to the latest version. You'll be rooted.

Can i Factory reset while rooted?

I have a xt1053 bootloader unlocked and rooted with towelroot with Stock Recovery. Can I factory reset safely? Thank you in advance.
If your bootloader is unlocked, there is no need to use TowelRoot, PIE, or TowelPIE root. Just flash TWRP recovery, and root.
But yes, you can safely factory reset your phone if you have stock recovery already on it.
If you are using TWRP, CWM, or other custom recovery, it is suggeted you boot into the custom recovery to "Wipe" from there, rather than using the phone's menu option for Factory Reset
@KidJoe so regardless of root status it is safe? Phew because if it wasn't I was just going to flash twrp and start flashing away. But I wasn't quite ready to start flashing roms. I just barely got around to unlocking the bootloader

Because of how TowelRoot and PIE work, yes, its safe. Their changes are lost at power off/on anyway. A factory reset would then clear away any files they might leave on /data or such.
If you were trying to "undo" SlapMyMoto/MotoWpNoMo, then I'd suggest flashing stock rom (with data wipe) in addition to factory reset, then flash TWRP and root.
@KidJoe Before unlocking BL the towelroot would be lost on reboot. Since unlocking the BL root sticks on reboot.

If that is true, then I would definitely flash the stock SBF for the Android/ROM version on your phone to completely remove it.
I don't know anyone really using Towel or PIE with an unlocked bootloader (write protect disabled), and I don't know enough about what Towel does to say if what is left over might get in the way... so to be safe... re-flash your phone. BUT be careful to use only the rom version already on your phone, and do NOT DOWNGRADE.

As long as you have 4.4.3 on your phone now, sure.
GO to App Drawer -> Settings -> About Phone. the SYSTEM VERSION should match the description of the file you download from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
so if your system version is 212.44.21.ghost.xxxx then that is the right file

How is your phone in a state of disarray? Unlocked, running PIE should be fine. Are you experiencing some problem?
If you factory reset and you get into troubles, its not going to brick your phone to the point where you have to send it in for warranty.
If you have mFastboot, the Android SDK/PlatformTools/ADB, and the right drivers on your PC, you could flash just system.img in a matter of minutes. A complete flash of all parts in the SBF zip file (one operation at a time) can be flashed via mfastboot in less than 15 minutes.
If you want to wait until you get home, you can use RSDLite which is a little easier to flash (it does all parts, one at a time) for you. No typing.
Just in case anyone is on the same boat. All I did was unroot in SuperSU and did a factory reset. No issues.

I haven't done LOLLIPOP yet, downloading it now...
but if you used cf autoroot, it puts and old recovery so you won't enter recovery after using it...
are you using twrp 2860....
I always do this.. for a new version update..
I enter twrp and wipe 3 or 4 time, system, data, cache, and dalvik cache, then within twrp I reboot into download mode.
odin v3.09 and do new firmware, after it reboots and enters recovery and does it thing. I pull out the battery then

Actually, come to think of it. I do remember having an issue on note 3 once. It was my bosses phone and I rooted it for him and flashed recovery. But recovery wouldn't boot no matter what I did.
What it was- I had chosen a version of twrp I had known to be stable rather than the latest, but it wasn't compatible with that firmware. I ended up flashing the latest and it worked fine. Twrp moved to a new site which should be linked in the thread another poster posted. With the new lollipop firmware you probably need the absolute latest recovery. Good luck with it!

I totally agree.. looks like tmobile patched the hack we do for unlimited tethering, that I used from @jovy23 tutorials... If I delete the tetherprovison.apk the tethering app doesn't work. and with this new Lollipop for some reason the wifitether and FoxFi app aren't working.
I'm just playing with it a bit. but we can always downgrade the bootloader with the actual firmware so that NK4 will work again.
waiting to see if someone else finds a way through this. I might just go back to v4.4.4 Kitkat..
I guess that was the delay with the T-Mobile Note 4 update to lollipop.
Well from what I seen is tmobile like all isp knows what you been doing online. So if they see ya been downloading at sites and ur data is not moving they gonna lock you out lol. The days of free tether are coming to a halt.

best way to simple reflash stock

my friend has this phone, and he is having lots of issues, im thinking something is corrupt. i have been looking through the different threads trying to figure out the best route as i dont own this phone. i remember in the fascinate GS1 days, i would just download a tar and flash in odin with a repartition file to start fresh again. im getting lost in these forums looking for the files i should get, and the procedure i should follow.
would someone mind leading me to the proper procedure and files to the most relevant stock rom please.
Before trying to reflash stock, confirm the bootloader on the phone to ensure that you flash the same or newer ROM.
Could you list the firmware in order from oldest to newest for me please? I'm having trouble finding a list... Man it sucks trying to catch up on a phone from so far behind.

do i need to include the pit? i thought i read somewhere not to include pit on the 32gb model. that may have been in the international forums though.
A pit file is only needed if Odin can't read the partition information.
There is only one version of the att note 3.
Thank you very much. Everything went smooth. I did the 4 file flash method as what I read seemed to point to that being the best method. The phone works great again.
