Given that the Note 5 does not have a built-in microsd slot, i was wondering if there was a case available that hand a built-in micro sd reader that interfaced via the usb-otg.
Thanks
Nevee heard of anything like this

Maybe.
The S6 had the Incipio Offgrid, but I'd imagine it's gonna take a while. That case didn't come out for a good six months after the phone was announced. There aren't even any battery cases yet so
Maybe Incipio
It won't let e post a link yet but the article I read talked about Incipio offering a batter and SD case that connects on the usb port.
I don't see it on the Incipio website.
I had read an article on Engadget that showed it.
Had a battery or SD scenario. (Iguess only one at a time on the usb port)
I think it was priced at $80+
They have it for the S6, but not the Note 5 yet. I hope they do. That way it won't be so bad going forward.
http://www.incipio.com/chargers/off...-extended-battery-case-samsung-galaxy-s6.html
This looks great! Thw onw thing that almost stopped me from buying the note 5 was no sd and only 32gb available here. A case with sd slot would be perfect. A bonus would be to still be able to use the wireless fast charger.

That's too bad. Considering the massive number of threads complaining that the Note 5 is without removable storage it sounds like a no-brainer business case for Incipio.
This is what I did...
Hope this helps.
It is tiny and it works great.

Just picked my Note 5 Duos up...Went back forth between it and waiting for the Nexus 6P....glad I didnt wait....Love the Note 5...yet the biggest gripe is the storage....who here uses over 50gb on their phone?
Personally, I mostly use my micro SD for the 37GB of music I haul around =D
So whenever I'm not listening to music of movies, I don't need my micro SD. I thought long and hard about solutions I could jury-rig with an eventual Note 5 (only 32GB available in Canada...URGH.). I settled down on this:
- Meenova microSD OTG reader: http://www.meenova.com/
- 5-inch left-angle micro-USB OTG extension: http://www.angledcables.com/rrmcblextxxgo-usb-20-otg-left-angle-adapter-cab20.html
The reason for the cable extension is that I use rugged cases and the reader's connector is too short and the case will interfere (as tested with a Trident Case Kraken AMS on my Note 3 alas). What I plan to do is curve the cable and route it to the case's back and velcro the thing on the case's back. This will keep it low-profile enough near the USB port (and the left angle is essential or else the cable would get in the earphone port's way), and would not add too much bulk to the back.
Those with skinny jeans might want to avoid this contraption though, but I always wear military-grade cargo pants with huge pockets so I don't really care...!
I thought I wanted a microUSB SD reader, but then I happened across this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DTPYRTI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
For my use case, this handles the storage issue plus much more. My main use case being travel, 50% of the time including my family - with this everyone gets access to media, plus you can share an airplane etc. wi-fi access charge.
This works for storage too - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DBX37H6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 but I really like the Incipio case idea.
I was talking to a Mophie case sales rep at a Verizon partner event on Tuesday. He told me that they are going to be coming out with a battery and SD card case. The only downside is that he said it will most likely not allow wireless charging anymore.

Check out the Dash Micro for Android - http://www.meenova.com/st/p/mrg2.html
I have it and it's awesome, hooked up a 128 GB MicroSDXC card to it and backup/stream all my multimedia files.
Only real downside to it that I can think of is that it burns through battery a little fast.
Not a big deal honestly, just a slight compromise.
Also fits perfectly with my Spigen and Caseology cases on.

Nice, usb to micro adaptor?
Doesn't make sense why they just slapped on a normal USB and not just added a small micro USB connector. Honestly they could have integrated the cable behind the screen and used a 90 degree micro USB to make a fairly seamless design.
yup!
I agree. But it's china made, and i think its totally worth it for the price.
Is there a way to conceal the USB cables? I'm looking for a case with a keyboard but I don't want it to look that jumbled

i bought the same case and it arrived already. havent got my nexus yet but it should arrive next week. the case works with my galaxy note though. its not a bad case, but its not a full size keyboard, so the keys are a bit smaller and squished together. it has decent tactility when typing, and overall is quite usable for a portable keyboard case. it can take a while to adapt to it if you're normally used to a full size keyboard.
the only major gripe i have with mine is that the keys are recessed, not raised. so for people like me, who normally use the side of their thumb for the spacebar, you may find that you'll keep hitting leather unless you raise their hands to tap the spacebar.
i'll probably only use it when im out and about or when im at work. when im at home, i can just hook up my ducky cherry red mechanical keyboard via usb on the go for full backlit fullsized keyboard goodness. but i feel like this keyboard case is $10 well spent.
oh and the reason why they didnt have it going straight to microusb is to maintain compatibility with other devices that may have their own proprietary connectors and devices that have a full sized usb port. this way, they'll only need to give you a different adapter cable (usb on the go) rather than having to mass produce different keyboards with different cables. ive got a right angled usb on the go adapter so it doesnt look as bad as the one in the pics previously posted.
overall i'd give the case a 7 out of 10. its fairly decent quality for the price, and does a good job of turning a tablet (or a phablet like my galaxy note) into a netbook. it doesnt have the backup battery function or usb ports or tight fit that you would see in the keyboard dock of the asus transformer series, but considering the price, would you really expect it to?
How good does the case hold the Nexus? It looks to only have through grapple points, but surely the Nexus could just slide out.
I will be moving around a bit with the nexus, and have it in my bag, etc.
I would hate to drop it....

the grabble points are fairly stiff. from the way they feel, i believe theyre metal (probably aluminium as they are bendable with a bit of effort) coated in leather. The top grapple point is also aluminium coated in leather and it is also spring loaded to hold it in place and to allow it to be adjustable for different width tablets. because of the spring, the clamping force is at its peak when the top grapple point is at its highest, but i probably wouldnt rely on that alone to hold a device in place if you place it in a bag that you tend to throw around a lot. if you wrap your nexus in a TPU or silicone case before putting it in this case, then that will assist in keeping the device in place a bit better. the grip would be better if these grapple points were coated in TPU or silicone instead, but its good enough for the price.
but this is from my experimenting with my galaxy note though. according to google, my nexus 7 should arrive sometime this week so i wont be able to provide you guys with more hands on info until later this week.
I purchased this after reading about it here. I am actually slightly impressed with the idea; typing on a keyboard that small isn't the best idea, but it is also not that bad. As long as I remember to type a bit slower than I want to try to type, I can do rather well -- and the keys are a bit mushy regardless.
The clip doesn't hold the Nexus 7 in very well at all, though; one of my photos shows how you can just slide it in and out. Also, it is giant -- bigger than the Nexus 7 in all dimensions, and 3 or 4 times as thick altogether when closed (with the Nexus 7 inside.) However -- it was only $10. I might pull it apart and tinker with it later; for this price, I regret nothing, but wouldn't really recommend it.

I purchased a case a stylus, a OTG cable, and a 32GB USB Flash drive(micro), some velcro (hook and loop type) .
Now the Velcro is to attach the otg cable and the flash drive to the case and ill probably make a USB pass through device so it can always stay plugged in. The OTG cable will run on the corner of the inside of the case and to the inside flap in the corner there for it will stay hidden most of the time.
My other option was to cut away into the case putting the flashdrive and the OTG cable actually inside the case (to either the side that opens to cover the screen or behind the tablet) and then putting a thin layer of the cover back in place to hide it and only being able to see the part that plugs into the tablet. I also have shrink wrap tubing that i will layer around the entire OTG cable to make it more sturdy so it can handle the plugin and out for charging.
So people what have you done in preparation for your Nexus 7 tablet to get here.
will be posting it on my websites update service blog @ blog.cmsjr123.com
I bought the $6 Blurex case. Was thinking of getting a neoprene sleeve before but figure this has more use and is cheaper.
I bought the 7$ moko one. I will buy one of the offical ASUS/google ones once they become available. But i have a cover than i can get multiple ones of if my little project fails.
Just an OTG cable. Patiently waiting for the official case/covers to be available for purchase.

I'm going to use one of those thin magnet behind a picture frame that stick on the fridge. You can buy tape magnet from Target.
Im going to wait and hope Zagg carries a screen protector for the nexus 7. That is my go to screen guys because with my evo that protector went through some shiz and barely had any scratches what so ever.
also i was going to try that same tape but from walmart. I live in a small town so they are pretty close. I was going to insert them all into my folio case/cover i bought for it. WIll post the project on my blog and on here. With pictures etc.

Just a couple of things. No idea if the case has a magnet for the "smart cover" thing but if it doesn't it was pretty cheap so no biggie.
I recently traded in my OG PSP and got a HP Touchpad Bluetooth Keyboard for use with the Nexus 7.
I also brought a solar charger/battery, mainly for my Nexus S when I've been tethering.
Also my wife went and got an iPad 3 the other day that came with a case and a really nice stylus. She has let me steal the stylus.

I bought a USB OTG cable which arrived a few days ago. 99p! :3
I've just ordered a Navitech case for it, which I think already has a magnetic catch in it, which hopefully will work with the Nexus 7, if not I'll get some thin strip magnet and put some of that in the case.
I bought a Spiderpodium to use as a stand for both my phone and the Nexus 7.
Works really well, so many potential uses for it too, rather than limited to just this device.
I've got a case and usb otg cable on the way as well.
Oh, I got a generic slip case from Poundland. NO EXPENSE SPARED.
Got myself a cheap temporary dock for my Note 2 until I get the ProClip one in a month or two (waiting till after xmas). Found this one on Amazon for a nice $20. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FH716W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I like it so far. Very stable and has a good range of motion to it. No vibrations at all, (does start shaking a little bit when doing 150).
Also works nicely to hold it as a dash camera.
Also holds my phone with no problem with the Body Glove case on it.
Oh and that white square isn't part of it. Thats one of my NFC tags to start Waze and CoPilot whenever I put it in the dock.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them as best I can.
Anyway, here's some pictures:

This dock is technically one of those "universal ones", but it works well because of the spring loaded lock.
When you press the phone in, it hits this little button and snaps the side grips closed on your phone.
Then once they are closed, to release, just press these two and it unlocks the phone.
And nice thing is, because of how you have to release it, the phone will fall into your palm and you can just grab and go.
thanks for posting this, looks like a nice mount, the only thing i wish it had was a built in microusb cable to automatically start charging without me having to connect it lol
+1 for STi
/highfive
The nice thing is that it will grab textured dash just as well. Mine has been on my dash for over a week and it is not losing it's grip.
Do the holders at the bottom block the mic?
Thanks for the pics and the review, I've been looking for a cheap dock. The phone falls out of the cubby holes in my car's dash. lol
can you show a picture with the arms at their WIDEST with the phone in it ? IE how much "wider" can it go? (my cases add a lot of bulk to the phone)
I don't know why you guys buy car dock for. Its big and ugly. Its always in the way. It looks like a cawk sticking out from the windshield. Its best to get a 1 inch rubberband and 3 dollar case and modify it. I had it done on my sg2. I'm waiting on my case and will post pictures later.
because in order to use the phone case as a dock you need to use the phone SANS CASE and that is not acceptable to me
as for why a dock? thats easy. fumbling with the phone while driving is a good way to die and possibly kill others ie don't do it.
dock makes it convenient. Slip Grip made a case for the impact case I use for the S3 hopefully they will make an impact case for the Note II and hopefully slip grip will make a grip for the Note II in the impact case

There is still a couple of mm on each side so it wil accomodate even an otterbox defender is my guess.

These really aren't that great, I was forced to use the USB port since the stock rom is buggy/bloated because I use the PA Rom. My DT-900 charged hopelessly slow and being able to toss it on for 10 minutes and get 3 hours of charge is something I have to do sometimes now that my battery has worn down.

I would love to see pictures of the charging dock as well.
Just a quick note for everyone viewing this thread, there is a lot of info on this type of Qi Charging coil in another thread: External Qi Charging Coil.
Some of your questions might be answered in that thread, such as charging rates, and how it works. I've been using it for some time and enjoy it. About the only problem I have with it is that I want to add a chunk of steel and a magnet so that the phone will "auto align" to the charging pad. That and to hold the phone to the charging pad, as a slight bump with the case I'm using will cause it to slide right off.
Also one last note, if you are using a horizontal holster, it can snag on the usb plug. So make sure the case you are using protects the plug, or you are very careful. The Poetic case I have doesn't protect the bottom and top, and thus the cable can get caught by the holster. Vertical holsters work quite well with the Poetic case, you just have to find one that fits....

AT&T had the Nokia Qi Charging docks for $5 plus free shipping the other day. It uses a barrel plug to charge, but great for permanent positions like by the bed or office. I moved my Samsung (microUSB) over into my travel bag. I'm actually VERY surprised how well the Nokia Qi is at "pairing" with my Verizon. I seriously just drop it on there and it starts charging where my Samsung had to be "generally" in the same area to get it to go. The Samsung still had play room unlike some of the cheaper $10 ebay models where it required exact precision to "pair" and start charging.
I don't know if the deal is still on but would be worth a look.

Hey guys, some of you might remember my post about adding expandable storage to the LG G2 (Link to old post: https://plus.google.com/112350291283202736057/posts/2z1wLqRc8Fg )
Well i'm back and I have done some improvements to make it a lot smaller
With this you will be able to put any micro SD card up to 64gb into this device as well as you will be able to plug it right into your computer with the USB side
Link to all picturesI'm also thinking I might make a version where it is built into a case, because my aim is to get it as small and unnoticeable as possible without losing any comfit, and feeling like you have something attached to your device
What are your thoughts about my idea?

Uhh, I don't like naked wires, but that's probably just me. Have you considered something like the Dash Micro from meenova.com?
Check it out here.

It's pretty cool you did it either way!
I love your ideas and concept. I recommend getting the otterbox case for this phone and mod the case to let the otg stay in and protected.
I'm actually interested in taking the back cover off and using an extended battery back and holding the otg that way.

Yea like I said this is still in development and once it's done it won't have any exposed components. They reason why I made this I because this is supose to be a semi permanent solution so you can always have it plugged into your you phone (except when charging) that way you can have mass storage, where with the meenova it's way to big to have it keeped attached to your phone with out it breaking off

That's a good idea for incorporating it into a case, the picture that I have with it inside a case, is just a generic case I have and it just happened to fit under it

Yeah. However it will be a bit of a task to charge the device. I'm going to research on how to possibly get wireless charging on it. Maybe even incorporating a solar charger.

Funny you should say that, I actually have a micro usb wireless charging pad, I could try put the two together, because they should work
Awesome!!! Search on eBay and there should be micro usb to female usb and male micro usb.

Ahh I see. Good idea. My only concern is the power and possibility of shorting maybe? I'm very curious to see Edgar you come up with. That will be awesome.

Na should be fine Although I somehow screwed my board about 3 hours ago messing around with it (Not related to this project) haha, so i need to make another one, should get the components withing the week
I've also put some thought into adding an SD card into my case (case mate tough case).
The meenova is the smallest micro sd card read i have found thus far... without its case it could fit inside my case pretty well, even better probably if i cut a piece out of the phones backplate. Together with some flatflex cable and a pcb mountable micro sd plug it should work fine.
The Problem is power. How do we charge it? Plugging in and out the sdcard cable would make less nice and an additional charging coil (which should fit too) would cap the charging rate 500mA.
After all that thinking i just stuck the meenova to my keychain ;P
Fantastic solution, please continue the develop. Possibe to merge micro-sd slot (reader) and wireless reciever? (on G2 there is only one usb slot)
Ow nice idea
Nice idea, I found this, if you be able to strip the plastic you can get a slimmer project. I'll do it to mine and incorporate with my armor case. When it arrives... about two mounths (Brazil sux in shipping times). I'll post some images here.

Thx to share your ideas!
Some time ago I bought:
http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1673689666.html
It doesn't look compact and impressive, but after removing case... we get really slim card reader, easier to pack into case or smth
DarkN3ss61,
any news? Wireless reciever and micro sd reader combo?
What about this?
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been very active here lately and posting updates. Well so far I have my replacement parts and I have rebuilt it because I fried my last board. I havent had much time to try get the wireless charging working with it, but i'm eager to start on that now. Although i did get a micro USB splitter and had both plugged in and they where working, so I should be able to make them as one
Its a good idea but I think this project wont be battery-friendly
i recommend using an additional battery instead of wireless charging. Additional battery+micro sd in a case will be awsome.
Ha I has the same crazy ideas, glad I'm not the only one...
I think it's easier just using a usb otg converter and a tiny usb stick, for example this one which has micro usb pass through so you can charge your phone through it http://m.ebay.com/itm/321608143459?_mwBanner=1
