I have a bit of an odd question. I need to pickup a Samsung SM9208 next week and am in HK for a 2.5 hour layover.... Not enough time to head into the city. However, does anyone know if one of the stores at the airport carry the 64 GB Model? I know that there are a few cellphone shops in the airport but was wondering if the 64 GB model was readily available in HK. Unfortunately, eBay isn't an option where I'm living and traveling too so window is likely all I can get to pick this up.
Thanks for all the help!

It doesnt get that detailed online. Best hurry and check Nobletime and a3 while you can.
Just so that you know if there is any problem with the Smartphone they will make you take it up with Samsung in Hong Kong. If there is any scratch on the smartphone they will not replace. The smallest scratch that you could imagine and they will only fix it. I believe the return policy in Hong Kong is 1 or 2 weeks by law. In Taiwan it is 1 week by law and after that it goes to repair shop.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be taking it out of the country in less than an hour so I'm going to be stuck with this one way or another! I can't see a downside of using this over the US models. I live in Asia, travel a ton in Asia, Europe and have a T-Mobile US line that I want to keep in my phone all the time so I don't miss texts and calls while still using a "local" sim for data, etc.
I doubt HK Airport would have 64G as the rest of HK officially only has 32G models (silver and gold).

Typical Samsung HK. So many models they only bring in the base model. Had to pick up my Note 5 64GB in Taiwan.
If you do buy run it through *#0*# (General Test Mode) before handing over the cash. Not that I have ever had a Samsung phone with as much as a single dead pixel.
Good Luck.

I don't know my regions and I don't know if the HK version is region locked but if it has a region sticker on the box be sure to use an HK SIM card to activate and for your first five minute phone call on it so that you do not wind up being "region locked".

Hi all,
I am travelling to the UK this summer (I live in Israel), and after making great use out of my Desire for almost 3 years, I feel it's time for an upgrade. Now, I have checked a number of shops that offer the phone, however the prices vary by about £10-£20 (Clove, Handtec, Phones4U - even O2, but it's SIM locked for 12 months). So I'm at a loss as to where to order from. Maybe Amazon.co.uk?
After purchasing the device, does anyone know whether or not I can claim VAT back (due to not living in the EU)? That would save a few extra £'s..
I am also concerned about the network bands it uses - I think the one I need is the 801n (900/2100 3G) - do all vendors in the UK sell this particular variant? Also, is this rumour about a 64GB device even worth holding my breath for? 32GB could definitely be more than enough...
Finally, warranty - if anything happens (touch wood that it doesn't), would sending the device via airmail back to the UK be sufficient for warranty purpose? Or is it void if I live outside of the UK?
Many thanks for all help provided
I do not know about the other questions, but you will not be able to claim VAT back in the UK. I believe the UK is the only country you cannot do that in; I have done it in France, Sweden, Germany and some others, but not in the UK. One question, though, how are you going to buy a device that is sim locked for 12 months, or in other words, how are you going to buy a contract-locked device if you do not actually live there? Wouldn't they require green cards, credit cards, proof of residence and such? Or at least that's how it was with AT&T and the iPhone.
Well I figured that the pay&go offer meant you didn't need an address..
Regardless, the vat and sim locked version are the last of my worries compared to the other questions.

Most of the sellers you have listed sell sim unlocked versions of the One but I don't know how the prices compare to those you have.
I have purchased phones from both Handtec (online) and Carphone Warehouse (in store) and always pay for sim unlocked.
As to the model the ones available in the UK will be the M7-UL 801n which is the international variant and should be fine for most of the world but you will need to check the frequencies available before purchase.
Hey again..
I just checked, and it seems that MobiCity have a UK website selling the 801S version, as well as a 64GB version!?
Does this even make sense? That's the Australian/Asian version AFAIK..
For anyone who cares the Nexus 5 is officially out in Hong Kong. Its being sold by LG, rather than Google. Price is around HK$3,800 - 3,900 depending on where you buy it. Big name retailers such as Broadway are selling it. Only the 16GB model is presently available.

Why is it HK always gets the low storage. First note 3, now this! Infuriating!!
Nice! I'm in Hong Kong right now, considering this (my Google Play order wont ship until November 8). Do you know if the International version will work on US networks and LTE bands, specifically T-Mobile?

no. LTE wont work in North Americia. But 3G will work of course.
Damn. I had a feeling LTE wouldn't but was holding out hope. Oh well, guess I'll have to play the patience game some more..
Hond Kong LTE use band 3, and the US version of Nexus does not support that.
But does anyone know on the UMTS 2100, is HSPA supported by the NEXUS 5?
wonder when nexus 5 32 gb will release in hong kong.. right now for that price its still a steal!
heard from wilson guy that around nov 20 there will be google play order available in hk, with price around HKD3200..
dont yell at me how ridiculous this may be.. im just repeating their words..
is this really possible (that google play order is coming to hk)?

HK Google Play store would be a very welcome development.
I think I am probably going to wait it out for around a month or two and hopefully the N5 price is drop a bit or at least a 32GB model will make its way to HK, otherwise seems the Oz store has the best value at the moment.
Fortress
Dear All,
I was at Fortress MK (MK New Century Mall) and they are selling it for $3,880.00. The guy says ONLY 16GB and I asked about 32GB and he said no. I don't believe him since he had to check 5 minutes to give me a price on the N5. Late Nov. HK PlayStore have it? I highly doubt it. I'm waiting till close to Christmas to buy it as the price will go down and retailers will have discounts.
if u go to "smaller" shops in mongkok/wanchai etc. the price is now in the range of 3700+..
Make sure..

Yes, parallel import will be cheaper in price but watch for what you get. Remember, US version (D820) won't work in HK for LTE. We have (D821) which is international version to work for Asia. I would stay with Fortress, Broadway etc. to be safe.

As long as the smaller shop confirms its HK stock and you can get local warranty through LG I don't see an issue buying through them.
Remember the D821 is also being sold in Australia where the price is actually quite comparable to the North American prices. But you won't get local LG warranty if you get that.
Was at Broadway Shatin on Friday, asked if 32gb was available, sales said usually Hong Kong only get one version.
Agreed that it is expensive to buy from them, if really available through Play Store at end of November then Ill be one of the first to buy from there!
Was just in WCC.
Asked two shops for price, one said HK$4.2k the other said HK$3.9k!!!!! Local stock.
Wasn't going to buy and was in a bit of a hurry so didn't ask around too many places or try and negotiate for price.

Hi All
September 1st I'm flying to Seoul for holiday and really wanna pick up a Note 5.
Does anyone know where the best place to buy is? Maybe dlight store in Gangnam?
Also do the Korean versions ever get root or roms?
Thanks!
the Delight store in Gangnam, the Galaxy store in Coex Mall... any Samsung mobile retail location. They were fully stocked as of release date as far as I saw last week and this week.
The only caution I would advise is make sure the Korean version supports the LTE band/bands you will need in your home country. I ended up having to buy one in the states because my phone company here uses Band 4, which the Korean Note 5 does not support.
I think the Korean one supports H+ on my current carrier... I can get sims that will work on there though.
I will head to dlight
That should be good enough. Good luck, and make sure to post pics of your Delight spoils! I've been home for 3 days and am already jealous of your trip
I love Korea!! Amazing place.. This will be my 5th time Fly out on tuesday, going to dlight as soon as ive dropped off my luggage lol
Korea is not very tourist friendly. Hard to even buy a sim card for visitors or tourists. If you are Korean with a Korean Passport and local ID then it should not be a problem. I believe that most telecom companies in Korea only sell carrier locked smartphones with contract and you need a local ID to buy one if I am not mistaken. Also pay attention to the 4G LTE bands on smartphone if you do manage to find one that you could buy unlocked. In the city you will notice that even some taxis will not stop to pick you up if they see that you are a white person.
@desiregeek my experience was the complete opposite. It's super easy to buy a SIM card at the airport from olleh or SK Telecom. Also, carrier locking is not as common as it is here...

You can only buy the rental sim card at the airport unless they recently changed the rules. You can not purchase an unlocked sim card at any of their carriers in South Korea. The ones at the airport are sort of like a rented SIM card. In Thailand,Hong Kong,China,Taiwan or pretty much every other Asian country one can get a SIM card at a 7-11 or telecom carrier that is unlocked of which visitors or tourists can purchase for use while in the country.
It's my 5th time in Korea lol. Never had any problems but I can speak Korean too so it helps. Posting from the note I bought now. Just trying to work out how to make a deodexed rom for the S model version

Im also visiting Busan in October and was thinking of picking up a note 5, if I may ask how much did yours cost?
Mine was 1 million won so around 520 I paid but was 64gb. Haha just on the ktx back from busan to seoul now!
It seems Finland might not get the Note 5 at all, so if I want one, I need to pick one up on my trip.
Thanks for the info, I guess you had a nice train ride with your new Note 5, enjoy!
Hey all, never-msrp had the black note 8 950fd for 849.99 64gb on ebay for like 1 hour before he sold out.
I'm itching for a unlocked bootloader and pixel 2 xl 128gb after taxes is over 1k! no sense in justifying that.
So i'm returning my t-mo note 8 when i buy the unlocked exynos ones, but i don't know who are trusted sources on ebay or elsewhere for this. Since never msrp is sold out and he has no idea when he's getting more can y'all source me to where to go?

with clove, conversion and shipping it's 1190 and change...
Amazon has it for 909$
BH photo has it for 979
So my ultimate question would be, any benefit from purchasing it from bh photo video vs amazon?
All other ebay sellers don't come close to amazon or never-msrp pricing as of right now..
wait it's 947 on clove , (exclusion of VAT) , so here's the thing this popped up when i began filling out order
"Samsung’s region lock stops use of this handset within your chosen country unless activated with a European SIM. I agree for Clove Technology to break the seal on the box, activate the phone and remove the region lock by completing a 5 minute call on the handset."
found that interesting-
Does clove offer warranty of some sort?

Yeah the UK phones have regional lock. They'll activate it by the method listed. If you decline, you won't be able to make calls outside the countries listed for the phone.
I got mine from Clove and couldn't be happier. They break the seal & unlock it but I couldn't tell except for seeing the broken seal. They reset it so setup is exactly like with a new phone, I couldn't even fine a single fingerprint or smudge on it. I upgraded to DHL shipping, was shipped on a Friday, I received it on Monday.
With all the crap going on with OEM unlock missing/disappear, lowest price was not a concern for me. And really I didn't pay very much more than if I were to get a SD version from my carrier or Samsung.

He has a N950N on Tmobile. He's still working on the mod for the N firmware. The second link is his TMO mod for F variants. You can however flash the F firmware on your N & install the mod if you don't want to wait. He's been working hard at it & I'm sure he'll figure it out soon. I flashed his mod on my N950F & it's working great.

This is the model i purchased
I'm planning to buy the SD 888 version but unfortunately it's not sold in europe.
I've heard of many people who import the phone from HK, China or US. But I can't find the right websites.
Can anyone help me with that? Maybe a tip for cheap sites or something would be so nice
If you know someone in the US or HK?
Wondamobile.com had the China Snapdragon model in stock last time I checked.
Wondamobile.com got mine there im from sweden.
Thanks guys! I thought maybe someone lives in US and could tell me a few of their shop names
Wondamobile is very expensive...so sad.
Got mine from eglobalcentraleu.com, but also checked Wondamobile and tradingshenzhen.com before taking the plunge.

Are you joking now? WondaMobile prices are less than what you have in your country of living! Also, the version you should go for is Hong Kong or Taiwan! The chinese one has no Google services for you.
If you don't like to deal with Wonda .. check out https://eu.etoren.com/
But i recommend Wonda because they have better service.
Another thing, why you are looking for Snapdragon variant? I had that (bought from Wonda) for about 3 months but i sold it and got the Exynos that is sold in Europe, i find the battery life a little better with Exynos than Snapdragon. The performance is the same, i felt that Exynos has more power sometimes than Snapdragon.
Don't forget that you get only 1 year warranty (it's not valid within Europe) when you buy any Snapdragon version, you need to return the phone to the store you bought it from and they fix it by themselves which means they don't send it further to Samsung workshop ... you have to pay for the shipment almost 50 USD... But with Exynos, you have 2 years warranty within EU and you don't need to ship it anywhere, just look for Samsung Workshop that is close to you and drop it off there.
A last thing also, you have to accept that some features may not work well if you import your phone from these asian countries or even from America. The same with the 3G/4G/5G networks, especially 5G, it is not supporting more than one band in Europe, so you will have to live with that if you want to go for Snapdragon variant.
