If you have a qa1, you need the nd1 build.

[Q] Help! I updated Bionic to Stock JB, SafeStrap Slot-1 says 0 bytes available

My Extra Droid Bionic had stock ICS 4.0.4 on it, and SafeStrap 3.0.5. I previously installed HashCode's 4.2.2 Stock JB ROM (March 2013 from Goo.im site) to it, using Slot-1 in SafeStrap.
I never used any of the other slots because Hashcode said not to.
I restored stock boot, and uninstalled SafeStrap.
I updated my to Stock Motorola Droid Bionic Jelly Bean 4.1.2 via OTA. I succeded, but lost Root. I tried OTA keeper, but it didn't work this time. (It previously worked for my primary Droid Bionic).
I flashed JB using the Modified SBF file and RSD Lite (I had to delete two lines from the install instructions to get it to work).
I was able to root again using Easy Root (the VirtualBox method). It was a little challenging, but I figured it out
I confirmed Root access. I re-installed SafeStrap 3.11.
I want to install a different custom ROM using SafeStrap, I backed up my Jelly Bean build in SafeStrap.
I went to create a ROM Slot-1 for the Custom ROM, and it says I have 0 bytes of Free space available.
I am unsure what I need to do to get SafeStrap working. If it matters, I think I forgot to delete the old SLOT-1 ROM before I upgraded using the SBF,
Does anyone knowledgeable have any suggestions on how to move ahead to restore the SLOT-1 functionality in SafeStrap?
Solved!
So I noticed in the normal Jelly Bean environment a small SD card icon in the upper left corner. It indicated my internal memory was not formatted. I think it was the RSDLite wiping everything.
I couldn't read anything on it using Root Explorer, so I gave it a shot.
Problem solved...
I now have CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) running. Not the smoothest over wifi, but it works...
Now I need to figure out why my GAPPS appear to install in TWRP/SafeStrap, but don't actually appear after the reboot..

[Q] 4.4.3 ? - CWM or TWRP ? ? ?

have an S4 Active (SGH-i537 - AT&T), I do not use AT&T as my carrier, and have an ST sim installed.
Currently running 4.4.2
Baseband vs = I537UCUCNE3
Kernal vs = 3.4.0-987011
MDF1
I have the phone rooted, and SuperSU is installed.
May have an issue with Samsung knox?
I'm trying to get CWM installed so I can install custom ROM's, but all attempts have failed. I have tried to install CWR using steps from xda forums, and also at galaxys4root. Also tried to use TWRP method, but that fails also.
Are there any 4.4.3 ROM's that will work on an AT&T i537? I tried every method I could to at least load CWM or TWRP, and I also tried to use terminal emulator with loki but they all failed at one step or another. Is this phone that locked down?
Method does not work on my S4 Active i537 AT&T, I have my phone rooted, but can find NO way to to install CWM or TWRP using any method.
Tried to install loki from both my phones card and my ext card. It either says “is a directory can’t execute” or “is a directory” shows the directory address, and them says Killed. Terminal Emulator is running with permission from SU.
I wanted to install the new CM11 4.4.3 ROM
I have never had a phone this tough to install ROM's on, or to prep for installing them.
Help Please!

This phone had a locked bootloader, so there is no way to install a custom recovery or custom ROM. There is a partial workaround (read through the SafeStrap thread in the development section) that will allow you to use ROMs that run the stock TouchWiz kernel. I'm afraid what you're looking for can't be done on the i537.

I was reluctant to put SafeStrap on it, because every time I see I ROM I want, it states it will not work with SafeStrap.
Is there a list of ROM's that work with SafeStrap @ the S4 Active forums?

You need to do some reading in the SafeStrap thread as well as search for SafeStrap in the General section because there is a thread that tells you what ROMs work for 4.2.2.
The most important thing you need to know is that the ROM you want to flash must be TouchWiz-based, so no CM, no AOSP, etc. The other important thing is that the ROM you want to flash must also be the same version of android as your stock ROM. So if you're on 4.2.2, you can only flash 4.2.2 TouchWiz-based ROMs, if you're on 4.3, you can only flash 4.3 TouchWiz-based ROMs, and if you're on 4.4.2, you can only flash 4.4.2 TouchWiz-based ROMs. The reason for this is since the bootloader is locked you cannot flash different kernels, therefore any ROM you want to flash must be compatible with your stock kernel.
For custom ROMs on the i537 your only option is SafeStrap or nothing. Please do some search and reading in the SafeStrap threads, all the information above can be found by doing a little research.

[Q] Safestrap 3.75 - Unable to display splash screen

I'm in the process of trying to upgrade my Dynamic Kat 4.3 ROM to the most recent 4.4 version, and saw that I needed to update my Safestrap from 3.71 to 3.75. I downloaded the Safestrap 3.75 apk (as well as made sure I had the most recent Busybox version already installed), and installed it. Everything appeared to install fine with no issues. I rebooted to try to go into Safestrap, but did not get the splash screen with an option to boot in the Safestrap recovery. I noticed on the 3.75 post that not seeing a splash screen is known issue and the suggestion was just to try re-installing the apk. I have since tried uninstalling/reinstalling the 3.75 apk probably about 6-8 times, then I tried uninstalling 3.75 and back-leveling to 3.71... still no splash screen. Then I tried uninstalling and re-installing 3.75.... again, no splash screen. At this point I've uninstalled/reinstalled over 10 times now, and am at a loss as to where to go next. I've spent about an hour looking around on google and in the forum here for people with the same issue but haven't had any real luck. This seems like such a trivial problem that should be able to fixed that I really don't want to have to revert back to Stock through ODIN mode and re-root, re-flash ROM, etc. if at all possible. Is there anything else that can be done to resolve this?
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me as if you were on JB and tried to use a KK rom through Safestrap. You can't do that because SS doesn't flash the kernel. You can't run a TouchWiz based KitKat rom on a JellyBean kernel. Your only option is to either Odin back to stock JB and use the setup you had been running, or Odin to stock 4.4.2 KitKat after which you can root, install SS 3.75. Only then will you be able to run the latest DynamiKat rom. All this is assuming you're using an AT&T note 3.

I misread your post thinking you were no longer able to boot at all. If you want to stay on JB, just reinstall SS 3.71. Make sure you're actually installing the recovery and not just the apk. But if you want the latest DynamiKat Kitkat version, you're going to have to upgrade your phone to 4.4.2 first.

Thanks for the reply!!
OK, so maybe I misunderstood what it would take to upgrade to KK... The ROM I'm running now is JB and I had thought that I could just download the APK for Safestrap 3.75, and uninstall the 3.71 version I already had, install 3.75, then go into the 3.75 SafeStrap and install my new KK rom.... it sounds like it isn't that simple.
My phone is booting and working just fine right now on the older Dynamic Kat JB rom I've been running, it just doesn't display the splash screen for Safestrap now when I reboot. You mentioned I need to upgrade my phone to 4.4.2 first in order to use SS 3.75 and install a KK rom, and I thought that just installing the 3.75 Safestrap apk did that. What is the process to upgrade the recovery to 4.4.2 if I can't just install the SS 3.75 APK?
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure SS 3.75 only works if you're on 4.4.2. I think you're misunderstanding though. SS doesn't upgrade your phone. You have to upgrade your phone's firmware yourself to 4.4.2. Then you can use SS 3.75 which is COMPATIBLE with 4.4.2.

Ahh ok. I do have an AT&T Note 3, and I know I haven't updated the firmware to 4.4.2 yet. Is there a post stickied somewhere with a link and instructions to install the new firmware?
This should lead you in the right direction

Preparing for Lollipop OTA

Hi all,
I'm on XT1058 4.4.4 Rogers, rooted and I flashed the SBF myself. I have Xposed framework, TWRP recovery, as well as a custom kernel (Faux123) installed.
My question is that how can I prepare for a future Lollipop OTA?
Flash system partition, stock kernel, stock recovery and uninstall Xposed? What about root access? I also have a modified hosts file for blocking ads.

Hi !
How about something like this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/ref-complete-moto-x-guides-information-t2603358 (in the "returning to stock" part of the first post)
except without erasing data (if you wanna keep it) like in this (caution, moto g thread) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...osing-apps-t2979971/post57658072#post57658072
It worked perfectly for my gf's moto g, I'll try this on my moto x as soon as I get a lollipop ota notification. It takes about 15 minutes + time to do the backup before that, so I guess there's no need to anticipate too much
I didn't even sideload anything, I just restored to a clean version of the firmware I was using without losing any data, then updates with the ota, it went smooooothly.

This old post -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-OTA.html still applies.
Disable/remove) Xposed. You need Stock Recovery. You also need Stock Kernel, and undo any changes to /system (like put all stock apps, undo tweaks) which could cause the Preflash Validation check to fail.
For Xposed, you could just boot to TWRP and install /SDcard/Android/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/files/Xposed-Disable-Recovery.zip After doing that, uninstall Xposed, since the version you have now likely wont work with Lollipop.
If you made too many changes to /system, you might need to just flash recovery, boot and system as the final step.
Excellent, thanks!

Downgrade AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A from 5.0 to 4.4.2/4.4.4

Few days ago I bought the Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A unlocked. There was Android 5.0 preinstalled whith baseband vOC4! I tried to make the downgrade to 4.4.2 because of the root, and always gettin the brick. Saw the post about flasjing G900A_OC4_Stock_Partitions and it helped me a lot with unbricking! I tried all the ways of downgrades: recovery ZIP update (including OC4 firmware w/ OA1 bootloader) , ODIN flashing different stock roms, custom roms, kernels etc. Can I make a downgrade with that baseband? I've read somewhere that it's impossible to do in this case...
Really confused now after all this.
No need for confusion. There is no way known to humanity that will allow you to downgrade from 5.0 to anything else.

ODIN back to OC4 to unbrick and remember; if you can't root you, can't do anything but wait for root or buy a different model phone.
ODIN back to OC4?
There is no way at this time to ODIN back to OC4, OA1, or whatever.
There is only a ".exe" file for OC4.

similar situation
Hello guys,
my situation is quite similar to the posters one. i've bought the S5 active (AT&T) with some custom TMS5 rom, when i boot i sie unlocked lock icon.
the version is 5.0: the kies is showing info like: G900FXXU1BOC7/G900AATT3BOC4/G870AUCU1BOC5/G900FXXU1BOC7 (ATT)
the question is can i get somehow to the STOCK firmware? maybe upgrading to the 5.1.1 will get rid of this "custom stuff"?
if so, what's the best way to do it?
I purchased a new G870A Galaxy S5 Active this week, which was preloaded with OC5 (5.0, Lollipop) firmware. I was able to root the device by downgrading to 4.4.2; the guide here was very helpful: http://www.droidviews.com/update-att-galaxy-s5-active-to-lollipop-root-it-and-enable-wifi-tethering/
The exact procedure I used:
1. Flash NE4 firmware with Odin (The latest heimdall from git didn't work; I had to boot Windows 7 and install Odin & Samsung USB drivers)
2. Reboot the phone in recovery (power+volume up+home). Use the options to clear cache & reset to factory default
3. Reboot the phone normally. It might appear bricked & take up to 5 minutes to get past the AT&T logo.
4. Root with Towelroot
5. Follow the instructions on the linked page to install pre-rooted OF3 (Lollipop) firmware and the OC5 bootloader.
6 (important). Kill OTA updates by renaming /etc/security/otacerts.zip & /system/priv-app/wssyncmldm and then rebooting. Delete anything in /data/fota for good measure. (Use your favorite root-enabled file explorer or shell.)
Note that this will not work if the phone has received OTA updates beyond OC5. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
