Hello everyone, do yoy want samsung update our SIII to Lollipop?
Let request Samsung:
"
Hi Samsung, today i want to reveal something that most Galaxy SIII's user like me has harboured from the bottom of our heart: Please release Lollipop update package for both of us: Galaxy SIII and Galaxy Note II users all around the world. Having used S3 and N2 for a long time( maybe from the day that they were released), we think that our devices still able to run TW Lollipop. Because we know that your news devices-which have a worse hardware can run TW Lollipop. Do you know that we were to excited to see our device-SIII and N2 in your confirmed list containing what to be updated TW Lollipop soon. Then things went disappointedly, SIII and N2 has been removed from that list, which means that it was cancelled. Our belief completely faded away. Do you know our feeling? That look like you have been abandoned after the moment of being happy-just days ago.
It's common of us to think that: "Why Samsung did that?", "Probably their golden flagship has been left behind?" And if this update may affect the performence, why dont you release "manual update" instead of OTA? By doing that, anyone who is aware of slowing down their phone won't be affected. In the second hand, the majority longing for the updates still enjoy it. If after reading my post and you still reject our devices, please tell us why. Or following my ideas and then release it as soon as possible. We're looking forward to hearing good news from you soon.
Again, we're all respect you that has given us wonderful devices, we still love them now
Sincerely
Samsung SIII's users"

Even with Samsung being a crappy, jerk brand that doesn't even care with their users I think they are making a pretty good job lol.

Probably Samsung will listen now more&better because of their falling solds. But don't expect any effect for old phones (and for sell-managers S5 is already old).
Maybe create a petition letter in one of those sites specialized for that and we can all sign it

Haha, i find it funny. Samsung is never going to do that, never... They want us to buy a new device to get Lollipop.
However, we have unofficial CM12.1 on our beloved S3 and i think they are doing a more than great job. The S3 is with CM12.1 is as fast as it can be with only 1 GB of Ram and i think after more than 3 years and 3 month we can be happy that we have that amoung of custom Roms out there. But for Samsung, i never think that they will ever release LP for us.
This is going nowhere.

it was a dumb thing to buy that garbage in the first place ... u guys just eating ur own medicine
never buy a low-mid end phone and expect it to fully function , these are crippled devices and they get no attention from companies after launch ..
Couldn't have put it better myself. I prefer dev phones from google, tbh. But, that's just me.
sounds like most phones released. Bugs caused by carrier overloaded crap and then no support.

Hmmm whats this?
Since galaxy s was released we have been receiving huge amounts of supports like roms, mods, and other things. But now that new and better phones are being released do you think that the galaxy wouldnt get the same support as it has today?
Edit: Please move this to the general thread. i thought i was at general but i only realized that i was in android development and now i dont know how to delete it. hehe. sorry!
You mean 'phased out'?
Answer is no, btw. At least not right away. Nothing is officially announced as coming to a given carrier, why would it be phased out?

When Samsung introduces new phones, the Galaxy S will drop in price, making it available for more people. Which is a good thing. The hardware of the Galaxy S is great and the device has a lot of modding potential.
Phase out
Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Phase out in the philippines
is it just here in the phils?
I just talked to the saleslady in the Samsung store inside one of the malls here in the Phils .. She Quoted " The phone you were asking for is Phased out for a 3 months now " Is it true ?
But i haven't tried asking other malls ..
Also i asked different stores in the mall and they said the same answer ..
dang !
This thread is 18 months old now... and technology has moved on. You probably need to look at second hand market now if you want a Galaxy S GT-I9000. Still an awesome phone!
i dont know bout i9000 but i9001 is phased out in malaysia already. i bought the last unit in the whole store in feb. o.o
got my i9000 as a second hand phone and works like a charm...if I had to choose another phone,I'd buy the plus version.

There are hints that Google will release android 4.3 before 5.0.

Most pointless question ever. Yes, a Nexus device that's within the update life cycle will get the update.
NOPE, never again. Google is never releasing any new updates for the Nexus 7.
Yes, Nexus 7 will get $nextversion of Android.
I just wanted to share that next official release might be 4.3 and not 5.0! Nothing else.
Of course I know there will be updates for years.

Yes the article is written in german. And I can't see anything wrong with it because I just wanted to share the information contained NOT give a translation. I even saw chinese and korean links on xda. So no problem I thought. Obviously I was wrong.
Until yesterday I thought after Google I/O Android 5 will be released. Regarding the link I posted that seems to be wrong. There will be a smaller step first: jelly bean 4.3.
So for all those dumb asses who either bashed or the other ones who thanked them: you won't get all news if you are so ignorant to only read what's going on inside the U.S.

If you don't like a link to an article, then just don't read it. As stated, Chrome can translate (with some accuracy), so really bashing somebody for posting it, is pretty childish to say the least. Shows the immaturity level of some users.
XDA is multi cultural, and has users from all corners of the globe. Contrary to prior belief and myths, not all information originates from the USA. Live with it. Any more cultural bashing, and well..... you know the outcome.

On a serious note, how long can we really count on Google to keep these devices officially supported and updated? I assume as long as the hardware can support the new OS....
Look at the Nexus S, only lasted 1 year, granted it only had a single core 1ghz processor and 512mb ram.
Google will be supporting this device for a while. It's one of the most popular if not the most popular device in the Nexus line. We will see updates for a long time I don't understand why people always want to know when. Be happy with the os version your on, and if you don't like it root, unlock and flash what you want. There are awesome devs here that will always improve this device allowing people to be able to run it how they want.

Did not expect to see what I saw coming into xda today. does anyone have a copy of 5.6 they can share out?
don't count on it... when there is drama between users and mods the ban hammers come out quick and fast. links get popped quick.
It is really too bad, but this seems to be entirely self-inflicted and we are left high and dry until another Dev steps up.
Was looking for this thread, I take it KnoxRaid is pretty much done and over with now?
I mirrored v5.6 about a week ago here - Took link down, need clarification on rules of sharing the files on forum, PM for link
Im not sure if I would advise using it at this point though

I'm running 5.5 and it is fine with 1 or 2 minor issues and 5.6 was a consideration... However, I'm not certain that the dev will be working on this soon, he seems to have been trying to play a donation game.
Likely it was a momentary lapse in judgment, but not something that would be tolerated on XDA and rightly so.
Hopefully another dev can step up and produce as good a product as this, but it seems that KnoxRaid is over. Oh well... I just got a Galaxy Gear and I can play with that for a while.

It's unfortunate because he certainly seemed like a talented and dedicated dev. Brought a lot of goodness to our Note 3. I also started becoming skeptical of his requests for donations and think he just got caught up in how easy it was for him to raise spare cash, sell a phone and get another. Once he got the M8, I think his attentions turned to that phone and he figured he'd ride the Note 3 wave as long as he could. I don't doubt that he probably would have continued dev'ing for our phone had he been sent a free Note 3...but I'm sure in time "something" would have happened to that phone as well. As I said though, very unfortunate for all of us Note 3 owners as he truly did devote a lot of his time to our phones. He's young and has a lot to learn still...hopefully this is a lesson in honesty and humility that he takes to heart.

Yeah, but where are you, what territory is your device and are you carrier or unbranded.
Telling us you got it doesn't tell us anything really.
Also 5.0.1 had been rolling out in some territories then seemingly pulled because of a variety of issues.
Keep an eye on ram management, are your backgrounded apps tending to have to refresh content when you have more than 5 or 6 background apps loaded.
Also keep a check on the 'contacts stopped working bug' ...
