I have 2, one of which is brand new, I've put it up on ebay 3 times now, and each time some idiot or another with a fake account tries to buy it, and I have to relist the god damn thing.
Anybody know of anywhere else I can try to sell it?
Cheers in advance.
I have had attmepted scams as well. Choose Paypal only, and also find the thing which makes the Paypal buyer have a validated account. Also I put in very large font at the end of an auction description that I won't post to Nigeria and No Scammers. Only set postage to UK/EU as well to limit scammers.
HiH
Joe
E-bay is total pants !
Just had the sme trouble with my Exec , gave up in the end
also had trouble when I sold my 9500 , I had some idiot mail saying he wanted to pay by paypal and then collect in person over the next hour - "great !" I thought , but unfortunately I had missed his mail by a few hours
Then the following day I get a mail from the same guy (he TOLD me he was the same guy !) but using a different ID , saying he still wanted to pay by paypal and collect within an hour ,
I smelt a rat and looked up the old ID , Sure enough , he had made several large (£300 +) paypal purchase , all pretty local the previous day and was now "no longer a registered user" - He had obviously got a stolen Paypal account
Anyway ....... I contacted Ebay to alert them (thinking i was helping them out !) I received a reply telling me I had got it all wrong , and there was nothing to link the two accounts :? - fair enough , no skin off my nose !
Needless to say , when I looked a few days later , the second ID had been revoked , but not before he had racked up about £3,000 in paypal purchases !
I learned a valuable lesson that day
EBAY DO NOT GIVE A TOSS ABOUT FRAUD , UNLESS THEIR FEES ARE AT RISK !
Makes me sick to see all the idiots out there selling photo's of xboxes etc with "please note this auction is for a photo" in small print hidden among the spec
Ebay sucks
:x
same for me
I had once an issue with a guy from Hong Kong who did not ship. I tried to mail him 5 times, no reply. Then he wrote that he "sent another unit today". I waited a month, tried again, no comment.
I ended up leaving him a negative feedback. Guess what? he left one for me as well "do not sell anything to this guy..." I tried to talk to ebay and sent them the entire emails history. They were not willing to delete his feedback. ebay does not really protect you.
only remember one rule on ebay..
always deal with person who uses paypal & have feedbacks over 50.
FWIW, that's how I ended up getting my BA and smartphone. I bid on each item and ended up losing the auction in the end but since the seller had "USA Only" and / or I have good feedback while another bidder didn't or had none, the high bidders were thrown out and I was offered the chance to "buy it now". Which is what I did in both cases and in both cases the seller and myself were both pretty happy with the results. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you explicitly say "UK / Eur ONLY" (maybe USA, we're not all a-holes over here ), PayPal only and no bidders with less than X feedback or less than 100% good feedback, then you have every right to blow off the scum. Ebay isn't bad, you just have to make sure you spell everything out and apply a little common sense. You could also try to sell it here or on modaco.com and specify paypal only, it's not just limited to ebay.
I don't think eBay is that bad- as long as you clearly specify selling/buyer requirements.
I sold one of my 'free upgrade' MDA Compacts in a 5 day listing the first time.
Do keep an eye out on the feedback, location, etc of all bidders on your item. If in doubt, just remove their bid.
I've sold other more expensive things too- electrical goods, alloy wheels, etc all without problem.
Things like insisting on some kind of deposit as soon as the auction had ended would safe guard you somewhat too.
ebay!!
I just want to add this to advice when you sell anything on ebay in order to avoid trouble ,use buy it now & paypal ,what you do is when you in steps of listing there is a box wich if ticked <immediate payment reqiured> ,you only sell your goods to the once ho pay you immediately so they don't win the auction till they pay you trough paypal and you receive the money
these scammers are called nigeria connection...it is a very big problem... try to exclude bidders from countrys except your country... for germany this works, i never had problems with them again
Sorry about those Nigerian scammers....
BUT I ASSURE YOU THERE ARE MANY NIGERIANS WHO ARE INDEED VERY STRAIGHT. I'AM ONE. BUT TRULY WHEN YOU DEAL WITH "NIGERIANS" DO BE CAREFUL!!!
Probably best not to stereotype...

This upto a point works but no matter what country they come from they are now seemingly able to register with UK accounts so it's not always easy to block buyers from other countries.
Ebay is great!
Well I would just like to add that I am an experienced ebayer having been involved with over 200 transactions and in all that time, only one ended up being from a dodgy buyer!
Some good advice has already been given here so take heed! Selecting immediate payment for Paypal is the best & smartest solution.
Saying that I agree that ebay have a bad history with their customer service relationship, they are not that bothered as they are making millions every day!
I bought my O2 mini S on Ebay. Got a great deal ($520) and great service from a UK seller who got it in my hands in a week. Prior to that, however, I did have a couple of bad experiences including one where the K-Jam seller added new bidder requirements a day before the auction closed and cancelled my leading bid. It sold the next to a "mystery buyer" with a new account for the same price I had bid. He clearly had bid on his own product because he did not like the way the auction was proceeding. I think I got him reprimanded but it took a dozen frustrating emails to customer service to get them to acknowledge that what he did was a flagrant violation of the rules.
Too good to be true?
£18 delivered in the UK...
He must be good, someone who bought one just after midnight this morning has left feedback before 10am!
Seriously tempted, with Paypal chargeback protection...
ETA: Having reread the auction, this is very odd: "ALL SERIOUS BUYERS PLEASE LEAVE POSATIVE FEEDBACK DIRECTLY AFTER BUY OR I WILL REFUND THANKYOU" hmmm, definitely seems to good to be true!
sounds like a con. people leave feedback then pron dont recieve the item and cant leave bad feedback making more and more people get coned.
i would not risk it
I've risked it!

When I asked him he said he'd sold an iPhone and lost £400 "due to the feedback being stupid".
He's refunded me and cancelled the auction. Some people are no fun.
Who'll be the first to give him some feedback on that one...
he might be doing this to get good feedback.
they refunding u so u dont complain to ebay, then later when he has a lot of feedback try and con someone by selling something or a couple of big things (ps3, cameras, laptops, phones etc) and getting the money and running.
paypal will prob pay some of it back but he will get away with it as only needs fake address and after con cancel card
If that is his plan, he's not that smart about it.
He will have paid fees on all the listings and sales which add up (and I am not going to let him claim them back easily if he tries as he is a non-performing seller).
Better still, his email address has his own domain, a whois on that reveals his name address and telephone number (I don't think he is smart enough to fake them).
He's just had a neg from someone over an iPhone, and positive FB from a memory card buyer, so I don't know if they are happy to have been refunded or are trying to get the sale to keep on track.

there are very stupid people trying to make quick money that, hes just trying to get feedback.
the costs wont worry him if he trys to sell lots of big items. (there was one person sell 6 nokia n95 a while back at £300 a pop. got the £1800 and then canceled the card and ran).
@Grayme,
By accident I found you here. Just wanted to say ´Hello´! It´s a long time ago, since we played with SRS´s TodayPlus...

16GB TF Card
be careful!
it must be a scam!
I searched 16GB TF card on Google and MSN for a long time, the average price is further higher than it! and the lowest one is:
http://www.onthesource.com/16gb-micro-sd-tf-memory-card.html
I think US$63~US$80.00 is reasonable.
Hi to all,
I want to share with you what appened last month with fastcardtech site... I already bought a zopo zp100 and I was really satisfy about service so I decide to bought a new one but white.
Reading internet site I saw that two models are available but I was interested only in the completely white one so I ask availability at support center of fastcardtech that confirm by mail the availability.
After two day I release the payment and in a week the phone was shipped.
Where is the problem? The phone received was the other one.
After 1 month they could give me a 3% discount (6USD due to account limitation) on next order that I'll never do cause It's not sure what they will ship.
I didn't report all the mail between us where they wanted to refund (6USD) and after 2 weeks no paiment was released so I asked and they wrote back to call support center...
I'm writing this post cause the site is really cheapest but pay attention cause if there is a problem you'll not have support... In some case you feel victim of a joke...
Bye.
P.S. attacched the chat transcript for all the detail
Sorry for what happened
i faced the same problem they listed a phone with high specification at a high price yet it was just specifications hacked in kernel the phone was not of quality as it was priced i bought it at USD 295 yet other phones of exact spec without hacking kernels were at USD 165 so if you are buying online its better you buy from sites with payments protections like escrow of aliexpress as the product i bought there was real coz it had to wait for my confirmation the payments to be made which force the sellers to be sure of what they are doing.
In fact the item was shipped with very low prices i never requested for which led me to be over taxed as the tax authority had to do it by themselves.

i was about to buy from them but it think i will consider it twice

I don't know what to tell everyone, but I ordered from them and didn't have any problem other than I paid $2.99 for them to root the phone which was never done nor refunded.
I used EMS shipping and had my phone within a week; the tracking was a bit wack, but I figured it out and it even worked.
Everything works great on the phone and came as promised. I can't comment on customer service other than they never responded about a refund for the $2.99.
Would I order from them again? Maybe, but you might have to cross your fingers and hope you're lucky but my experience was acceptable.

Here's one I busted on aPad.tv.com forum; regarding Hyundai T7 Exynos 4 quad-core processor Tablet PC:
me: I ordered 1 a week ago. It was supposed to have been in stock, but when I checked on the status it was still unshipped. I was beginning to wonder if the T7 even existed; so what aPadTVadmin said about them being in stock, makes since now. I guess most of these online stores get all their stuff drop-shipped, am I assuming correct?
aPadTVadmin: I spoke to DP a couple of days ago regarding the T7 for another reason and all T7 units have been shipped out. This was Thursday. If you ordered 1 week ago it would have shipped out nearly same day. I witnessed with my own eyes a large stock of T7 Hyundais being processed for shipping out last time I visited there.
Please give me your order number so I can validate it and check with them for you.
me: BUNCH OF SCAM ARTISTS! I contacted the manufacturer today and found out that they don't even start shipping them until March 7th, 2013. SO THERE'S NO WAY THAT ANYONE EVEN HAS T7'S YET, EXCEPT FOR A FEW ENGINEERING SAMPLES THAT WENT OUT. SO MUCH FOR SEEING THEM WITH YOUR OWN EYES... MORE LIKE LYING OUT OF YOUR OWN MOUTH.

this guy who wrote this is also part of the scam; he want's you think that the company actually ships a good product, while the truth is, what you'll get is an imitation of the product you order, if at all that; these guys are all in cahoots, and they're on every forum & youtube video out there. They are good at what they do & once they ship the inferior product, if you return it, you lost all your money, point blank.
aliexpress.com is the best site to buy tablets/phones from china. they have buyer protection, and the money isn't released from your account till you confirm the device is received and working.
Scam
I ran into the FCT trap too. Should have done some more research beforehand .
I ordered an HDC Note 3 clone from them and paid through Paypal. They provided a Singapore shipping number and the next day told me the phone is out of stock and was not shipped. Meaning a fake shipping number was provided. The same time the same phone is still listed on their website as "in stock" and questions of potential customers are answered.
They told me to choose an alternative phone which I did with another HDC N9002. 35$ more expensive which difference I paid. They did not ship, after a number of reminders they however provided again the same (!) fake shipping number as before. So the item was never ever intended to be shipped. They play for time and money to get over the 45 days to launch a Paypal dispute. So be careful.
Currently a dispute for full refund is ongoing.
Stay away from these scammers!
SCAM artists
I'm also getting countless fake shipping numbers regarding broken tablet that I actually received from them.
Beware of FCT!
They are always delaying with shipping (some items they never ship). Their policy is to provide a bit lower prices than the others at first sight and then add extra fees for nothing and eventually ship the item you ordered when it is already outdated.
Fake shipping numbers are their method of delay.
FCT
I recently ordered from FCT and of course before reading all the forums of countless individuals who have been scammed or dooped by these guys.
Anyway after 2 weeks from placing my order I received a tracking number followed by another tracking number 2 days later (weird), then a week later it was scanned into the U.S, 2 or so more days it actually arrived at my door!!! (bing bong)
I was pretty stoked however, once I opened my package (HDC GT N9000 Note3) one thing was missing ...No stylus!! so after numerous calls to these guys via Skype (preferred and only method to contact them) I finally speak to a man who tells me that if I buy another phone they would include the stylus plus a gift free of charge....wait the phone was advertised to include this?? blah blah something shipping he began to ramble on about.... all n all pointless
I'm now a month into having my phone which appears to be pretty effin exact to the Note3 however yesterday my phone just disconnected from my network and will not re-connect. I cannot reach a soul at this place leaving me with a fancy mini internet tab/paperweight/possibly shooting target..
Basically they were great until I gave them my money and the phone is awesome however customer service is a huge key to running any successful business and this is something they LACK.....
GOOD LUCK!

Why is Google forcing advanced RMA's where they put a temporarily hold? Why cant it be that you send the device back they receive it and once it's cleared you get a replacement and you only get a advanced replacement if you ask for it or be presented the option to choose.
The email I was sent has the advanced replacement only with no other options!
Even if I return the device first and they say it's cleared and I click the order link there will still be a temporary charge! Why cant they update the link to be $0.00 to get a replacement and not ask for any card details? Before this happens they send you an email saying Good news your return was processed. Click here to receive your replacement free.
The policy is great for those who can put money on hold but what about those that cant or don't have the funds to back it. What. Are they forced to return the device to get a replacement?
They figure that everybody can put 200$ in funds on hold for a week with no other options expect to return it?
I also noticed that google isn't handling the returns. It appears SMS Infocom Corp is handling them out of Texas? What if they screw up and said that it's your fault so your charged for the new device?
Additional charges up to the full price of your device will be incurred if our service center determines that the damage to your original device isn’t covered under warranty. Prior to ordering your replacement and sending your device for inspection, please refer to the warranty card in the Nexus 7 packaging or visit www.asus.com for details on the ASUS limited warranty.

Then you have to dispute it with Google or file a charge back. Wonderful
Most businesses give you the two options. The standard one that I just mentioned or the advanced replacement if they offer it.
This is bull**** IMO not allowing both options and only the advanced replacement. Even the rep on the phone at google said it was crappy. I'm serious.
I do not have the 200$ in my account to back the temporary authorization
So do I have to return it for a refund to get a replacement?
Actually it is a great policy, well at least for those of us with credit cards that aren't maxed out.
I like not having to wait the additional time it takes to send the defective unit back before getting a replacement shipped out.

Seems like I'm forced to return it for a refund to a replacement.
It is logistically easier to do it the way they are doing it... Quite different if you are dealing with a brick and mortar shop, just go in and exchange it. No risk of having extra hardware floating around.
As for having a third party company to deal with the returns is not all that unusual. A lot of companies do that.
Not sure how many people would buy a Nexus if their card(s) were maxed out.
Did you call Asus, see which options they have.

If they wanna hold another $249 from me that's fine. I also buy things when I know I have room on my credit card as well as my bank account.

Alot of people used bank accounts and not credit cards. Why are people getting the notion that everybody has a credit card they can use to back it?

Debit cards are really handy, the merchant pretty much sees them as the same, but in fact they are not.
Debit card only deals with CASH in your bank. When it is put on hold that CASH is on hold. Credit cards put holds on available Credit, Not Cash unless you are using a pre-paid credit card which is really more like a Debit card.
You don't have the same protections buying with a Debit card as you do with a Credit card, the first being, they didn't get your CASH, they are only putting a hold on your Credit. If you can't afford the CASH, you shouldn't be using it.

Yeah. They figured everybody has a credit card or bank accounts with the cash to temporarily fund it?
Still BS imo that they don't have the other option. I may be forced to return it for refund or deal with it as is. I figured they would give you both options.
"If you can't afford the CASH, you shouldn't be using it." Yes, But what other options do I have? Google is giving you no other option it seems expect to return it for a refund or deal with ASUS. As i said even the google rep said this wasn't going to work for everybody!
I'm hoping they can do what I said in the first post and honestly I see no reason why they wouldn't unless there system doesn't work.
I'm awaiting another reply form upper Management i guess about this.

A strange elitist comment, so this guy paid in full for a tablet but in order to get a warranty replacement he should have calculated in double the price of the tablet, before he even purchased the tablet?
Went through the RMA process and it came off as Google was not quite sure how to handle advanced replacements, the whole emailing me a special link to buy a replacement tablet as it were. Was completely half ass'ed, they already have mine/our billing info why not just do anything with anyone's money after a tech has gave it once over

Thank you this is exactly my point.
This is going to probably be my first and only purchase for a google device form the google play store. Why is there no standard replacment like any normal company does such as Evga for example or a online retailers such as Amazon newegg etc.
What is up with the advanced link?
I hate to say it but my Dad just pointed out that something is shady about this only giving you this one option. What scares me the most is the following

First, first world problem. Second, sounds like you don't have your priorities straight. 3rd life ain't easy. 4th if you don't like it complain to them and do business with companies that meet your needs. Last, owning a N7 is not a right you aren't entitled.

I've never had to return my asus laptop and netbook to them since I have warranties with best buy but I really haven't heard a lot of good things with asus and their warranty. Personally that's why I'm sticking with google at the moment. My original was epic screen lift and I got replacement on friday and haven't hardly used it between friday and saturday due to work and it has a dead pixel and something is rattling around near the top. I'd rather have Google 2 day me a new one then wait god knows how long for asus.

"Additional charges up to the full price of your device will be incurred if our service center determines that the damage to your original device isn’t covered under warranty. Prior to ordering your replacement and sending your device for inspection, please refer to the warranty card in the Nexus 7 packaging or visit www.asus.com for details on the ASUS limited warranty."

Ever hear of money orders., paying by cash as in waiting until you can walk into a store and buy one. You are wrong, there are many options starting with take your business elsewhere.
By the way I would be careful suggesting something is shady that is pretty much a common business practice.

So, if I have to RMA, I have to have an additional $199 for the tablet on a credit card? I thought the policy was for Google to try to take the additional money AFTER the amount of time has passed that they didn't receive the tablet back (21 days?).
It's going to be real tricky trying to keep $200 on a card... especially since bills and stuff usually take my card below $200 each month. But then again, I guess I can hope to have a flawless device

So it's common for businesses to force you to do an advanced replacement with no other options when 10 other businesses I've dealt with offer what I'm saying?
So in your option you should have double the cost of an item on your card before you buy it for this very reason?
Let me make it very clear
NOT EVERYBODY HAS A CREDIT CARD OR $200 IN EXTRA MONEY THEY CAN PUT ON HOLD FOR THE NEXT WEEK AND A HALF!!!
WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT
DO YOU BUY PRODUCTS AND SAY THAT YOU NEED DOUBLE THE AMOUNT ENCASE THE PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE? NO!
SERIOUSLY!

They're not "taking" your money. They're putting a temporary authorization of the amount of whatever account you're using for the replacement (such as a bank account, credit card, etc.) Once they receive the defective tablet within 21 days and make sure it's all good then they'll take that temp authorization off your account. But if it's not returned to them within the 21 days that's when I believe they can charge you.
This will explain it more too

Yes, But the problem occurs when you don't have the extra money to put on hold.

Yea well sorry to burst your bubble but the minute you ordered your tablet and an email was sent to you saying thank you for your purchase they provided the link to their devices support. So from that moment they laid out the whole process of how this would work. Now whether or not you read it well that was your choice but all that information was there and just didn't mysteriously show up.

an email from Google this morning asking if I meant to order 2 16gb Nexus 4s and if not I could now cancel my order. I guess Google had to re-jigger their cancel system because of all the inadvertent multiple orders, because when I tried to cancel one of the Nexii about 2 hours after ordering I was told I would have to refuse shipment in order to accomplish this. I was able to successfully cancel the extra phone without a problem. Weird.
I wish you hadn't cancelled it, I'm sure there are lots of people who'd be happy to buy off the accidentally purchased phones! I, for one, am one of those people.
I am sure you could find someone on here to buy the second one off you.
It's possible he doesn't have the money for 2.

My point exactly - I ordered 2 due to constant retries to get the order through and I will have to pay for them (Google already has a 'hold' on the funds from my credit card, even though they ain't shipped yet).
Luckily, the person I arrange to sell my second one to has already paid me.
