Root for att moto x (2013)
Do you guys think we could use a variation of this method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/root-moto-x-att-xt1058-5-1-lpa23-12-21-1-t3164125

No because we don't have the files from motorola for blankflash for the second gen model. It is impossible without them.

I guess since it's allowed on the iphone, people don't really care, so they thought why not do it for all the phones. ATT does it will all their phones.

I left Verizon for crap like this. Even the Verizon Version doesn't do this.

Going from verizon to att isn't much of a difference. I guess you should have gone with tmobile if you didn't want carrier branding or bloatware. The tmo moto x has nothing.

Well you could have bought the tmobile moto x and used it on ATT. It comes sim unlocked. Anyway, I'll try not to make you feel worse

4.4.2 update

Did anyone get this? My VZW moto x that I just bought yesterday prompted me to update today.

I second this.. The UK models are suppose to be shipped with 4.4.2 early February. I wouldn't be surprised of this the real deal..

I hope it's real, and that it fixes a lot of s**t!
Hope this is real do u know anything diffent on the 4.4.2 on moto x
I'm guessing you didn't pull the OTA file before installing it did you?
OK, you Verizon guys are lucky, us rogers folks are still on official 4.2 and you complained about Verizon being horrible with updates, what gives

Good news! Can't wait for this update, that exchange sync bug drives me crazy. Hope AT&T users will get it soon
I have the dev edition verizon moto x and have no update available. I also plugged the phone into the computer and checked if there was an update using Motorola device manager.

MEID/IMEI would be new, so that would be a quick turn around to get phone, register phone in MFN, and get update next day.

Same here, execpt I didn't check for update via Moto Device Manager.
On a side note.. the system version is in the 160's, where as 4.4.2 on the G's is in the 170's.. so is this "older" than the G 4.4.2 roms?

Not part of any feedback network as far as I know. It came with 4.2.2 then updated to 4.4 and said a software update was ready for install so I said ok without thinking about it. I tried installing app ops and it kept force closing on me which I found to be odd. Then I remembered 4.4.2 broke app ops and I checked my android version...voila
I'm not getting any update prompt.

I wonder what effect this will have on root?

Wow interesting. It had to have been a glitch. Punit did say he couldn't wait for this week. So it's entirely possible 4.4.2 is coming out this week. I am part of the mfn but haven't gotten any invite. It's possible after the lady debacle with the people on the mfn not being able to keep their mouths shut moto didn't do the mfn this time.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Wow. This is encouraging. I have an AT&T Moto X. I'm hoping 4.4.2 drops this week.

Make a system dump if possible!
I am impatient now!!
I hope they fixed the Android OS drain.

[Q] MIUI Moto X

[Q] Moto X roms

Now my bootloader is unlocked, I am looking for Roms to flash. I have an xt1058 Att variant.
I've see a label ghost, moto-8960, and moto-8960dt. Which one works for my phone?
Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
Roms that are stated to be compatible with your Moto X model? The ATT Moto X? XT1058?
That's easy enough, but I was wondering about these names. For example, the N5 is hammerhead, N4 is Mako, the N3 was maguro, Crespo, and Toro.
Does the X (gsm) have a name?

Verizon Moto X 1st gen -> UK

So I'm a newb here, but I'm wondering if it's possible to take my locked Verizon Moto X 1st generation phone, and convert it so that it will a) be GSM unlocked, and b) will pick up LTE bands in the UK.
GSM unlocked out the box and only if it's the same bands of att lte

UK uses different bands. Doesn't this thread suggest it's possible to add different bands? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
That is a phone with an entirely different chipset,

Sure, but according to that thread, it should work on any Qualcomm device, and someone had success doing that process on a Moto G, so I thought it might also work on Moto X.

My main concern is a custom ROM and kernel, is your bootloader unlocked?

I have done none of the steps, yet. Mostly I'm trying to gauge if it will be possible on a Verizon device since I didn't order an unlocked phone initially.
Verizon LTE device are sim free out the box so that is taken care of next step is rooting and roming
