HI.
After upgrading to 5.1.1 I soo that there is very bad ram management.
And system after some time kills from memory all my watch faces, vibe , messenger, exchange and email and other apps.
On 5.0.1 all this apps work correctly.
I try ed and flashed the clean service rom but problem still exists.
Any ideas?
For example Viber killed from memory after about 35 minutes and now I am not receiving messages from Viber.
It's Samsung policy, not 5.1.1. They want their TW always smooth to fake the feeling and a bit for marketing

More or less, Samsung memory management is not ok, especially compare to other brand phone. Their memory/task manager report about amount free of Ram but the phone still force stop some background apps/games.
Of course I've never have problem with Viber .

Then it dont but i just dont understand how 5.1.1 has worse battery management than 5.1 it definetly way better for me. Never experienced any problem on my device i dont use viber but skype whatsapp etc dont make any problem for me. And in user apps i can open almost 10 app without problem. Phone doesnt kill anything unless the ram reaches 2.3 gb for me and my ram usage on idle generally only 1.4gb. Disable bloatware it will help.

My mails always come on time. So dunno are you sure any app doesnt kill your apps? Or maybe i just dont have ram hungry apps but multitasking definetly way better for me on 5.1.1. Btw on my s6 edge everything gets killed i cant even open 2 app at a time but still dont experience mail problems on it aswell.

I am noticing the same thing, as great as 5.1.1 is, the RAM Management seems a little more aggressive than before. I use Opera Max to save data usage for both my 4G and mobile WiFi Hotspot that I use around the house, and I noticed for the 1st time that the RAM Manager is so strict it kills Opera Max, I have had to set the Notification to Pinned so that it keeps it in Memory.
I am so over Samsung right now, I never thought such a day would come, but when that Xperia Z5 Premium arrives, I think I may jump ship.
Why have they made it so aggressive??? There was a time when I could run FB, Chrome, Instagram, Twitter, Opera Mini, Opera Max, WhatsApp and Messenger and not a single app would close, that was on KitKat.

Because of their massive system apps they decided to limit user apps probably. But its different than note 4 on s6 edge 2.2gb of ram basically used whole time. So there is no multitasking but on note 4 1.4gb ram used for me and it can multitask good (ofc not htc or nexus good) but its acceptable 7-8 apps can stay in memory without any problem.

Android seeks to increase performance and efficiency by loading apps into memory and leaving them there after use. This does not mean that they are using CPU cycles or accessing the network. Killing off apps actually will consume more energy as they will need to be reloaded when they are needed again and in many cases this occurs automatically as you are seeing.

I don't know is this really a problem or not, but it really bother. my broblem is about multitasking, it looks like my phone doesn't have multitasking (like ios! )
for example I open opera and let it load some pages then ttpod and play a music, after them go to an explorer, and I go back to opera it's now closed and I have to re-load the pages.
overall I can't keep more than 2-3 apps open at the same time.
is there any solution for this problem?

try it, set it to the "Default Number" or "Max"

I've tried background process in the setting, but I still have this problem. There is no "max" option, only "at most 4 processes"
I've tried some tweaks with some apps such as Pimp my Rom and Android tuner but to be honest it made it even worse! and I had to do full wipe!
@greg, it's not just about opera, I can't run more than 2-3 apps in background.
I have stock 4.1.2 with doomkernel v7 rotted and unlocked.

you use opera for FB, hm?
that version of Opera mini comes with many bugs, one of them is AutoRotation, when you rotate your phone, it jumps out of the app, maybe another bug is what you are facing, not being able to chache the pages in background, MAYBE...
try another browser, like Default or Dolphin or Chrome, and see if the problem is still there with those apps, if not, then the problem is BUGGY opera mini, which i guess so

it's so weird
never experienced this issue, in NO phone of mine
i know this might a bit noobie guide, but first of all, uninstall unnecessary apps, maybe you've loaded your phone with a ton of apps, which certainly eat up RAM even if they are not running, that's the way Android manages RAM, so, uninstall whatever thing you don't use...
if the problem still exists there, then update your phone or flash another firmware, for example go back to ICS to see it helps or not..
and let us know, we will hepl you as much as possilbe, bro

All my apps are less than 80, I've uninstalled or freezed many apps by titanium back up. I have always more than 200-300 free RAM, and with a task killer I have about 400-500 free RAM space.
I have this problem since I've bought this phone (more than 3 months) and during this time I always had this problem, but recently it became worse.

Removal of bloatware really helps here. I find Firefox sometimes closes as it uses a lot of memory, but it beats all others in terms of usability + ability to download any files (sometimes chrome or stock just downloads a dumb .txt file, can't believe they still haven't fixed that) but yeah remove useless apps it helps a lot

Its normal, just the NSA stealing your data. The Facebook app is a known RAM hogger, like windows facebook will eat as much RAM as you have available.
PS: Try restarting your phone once in a while.

Hello,
Dont know if your ever tried fast facebook? I really like it has a nice holo theme to it and is pretty fast, only problem is that the app is very slow at 2G or something but on wifi and 3G no problems. You only need to install other apps for notifications and widgets. And the app isnt hogging ram or something .

I had never heard speak, and is cool
tks!
I don't know if it's been mentioned before but I was having annoying lag and stutters , I still am but it's gotten better , for me it was the Google music widget that I had on one of my homescreens ( I only have 3 homescreens in case you ask) , if you have it try getting rid of it and also deactivate the chrome option to have the chrome tabs shown on "recent apps /task switcher " also try to keep your recent tabs with the less amount of cards possible , I know that the fact that they're there doesn't mean they're opened , maybe it's a placebo effect but it feels like some those apps in there are really running in the background even when they're not supposed to do so, sometimes I used the app days ago and it is in the back of the "cards " and it still is running , they're called "recent apps" not opened apps ...
Google music with material design is really laggy ! I will get rid of it completely but its proving to be quite hard since I really enjoy having my music one click away on the cloud .
Chrome still has its "jank " and chopping scrolling sometimes but there's not much we can do .
I don't really understand the lag , it really it's random , sometimes I'm heavy multitasking and I have no issues and sometimes I'm just using chrome and twitter and it lags like crazy , or it just lags while scrolling on the home screen (google now stock launcher )
Have you had any of these issues ?

It think you're mixing things up with iOS here. In Android apps are suposed to continue running in the background. It's on iOS where apps in the background are paused and which features no real multitasking.
I'm using Uber kernel and don't have any lags.

And listening to music for an hour drains 4-6 percent of battery... I thought music was supposed to be lower power...
Anyhow, the only lag I see in that app is when I open it and hit the menu and then my library and scroll over. I'll have a slight second of stutter once I get inside and scroll down my list but other than that it seems smooth for me. Battery leaves less than be desired.
There will always be a slight lag here and there. I too experience lag when open Play Music. Sometimes there's no lag, sometimes there's a slight pause or delay in opening.
I have these kinds of stutters and lags about once a week and that's the time I reboot my phone to flash the latest build of my rom.
There are a lot of memory leaks in lollipop or at least there are in the ROM which I'm using (AICP). System App ram consumption shoots up to 1.4 GB and there's immense lag.
I've started to ignore it since a simple reboot fixes it.
Lol... I was hopping a fix for a stuttering in notification drawer pull....
I didn't expect this :laugh:
I had also serious lags, however, I updated yesterday to GooglePlayServices 6.5.99 (-438) and so far the lag is gone.

On the Issue Tracker at
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79729
someone today mentioned that same fix and provide a link to the APK. But the post with the link was removed from the issue tracker.
I currently have Play Services 6.5.87 (1599771-438)
When I search the Play Store with Chrome the update shows up
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=en
(the update is dated Dec 12, 2014)
However the update does not show up using the Play Store app on the N5 device.
The Google Play website says the update is compatible with all my devices. But on the device list to install the update, my N5 is greyed out and I can only highlight my Android tablet.
Why is Google not allowing me to install the Play Services update on the N5 when I have the previous version?
Or maybe the update is not ready for the N5, just like Android 5.0.1 is not ready?
But how are other folks installing the Play Services update? Link anyone so I can sideload?
People, I don't know what to do. I really want to use Facebook's app in my P880, but it cause too much lag over all other applications and resources. Sometimes I need to wait 30s to use my phone, mainly when a turn data or wi-fi on. When this app isn't installed I have a normal experience.
I just tried:
- Stock Rom, CM11 Rom, Euphoria OS;
- Stock Kernel, Iodak Kernel;
- Best Facebook clients are not updating since 2013;
- Facebook on browser, are fast but can't open images entire screen and can't provide notifications;
- Change options in app;
- Change Performance options of each ROM.
Please, if someone had sucess to run the app without this mad lag share with us.

I used to untick all autoruns of the APP using 3c toolbox.This reduces it's effect on general system performance but there are still a few services of it running, you have to turn them off at every boot.
Still, the facebook is badly coded/optimized and I prefer to use my web browser to browse facebook since I get notifications with SMS anyway.
Facebook app is among the worst ever Android apps made. As you too noticed, mainly on network change, it gets insanely laggy. It just isn't worth using.
Thank you, guys!

Sad, but true! I can't understand what they want with this. My wife's Samsung S4 can run it, just with small lags inside app, but it is another class of phone.
