Hi, my Xperia T does not share the phonebook with the car's bluetooth after the update to 4.3.
I've removed the device from the car's list, and I've started the pairing from first step. The phone never asks for permission to share the phonebook.
Anyone else?
Kind regards.

Am I the only one with the problem???
Hi,
My Xperia V works well with the car's bluetooth system, after my stock update from 4.1.2 to 4.3 .
I can see the phonebook entries.
Maybe you have any Smart Connect or Throw settings in conflict ?
Just a thought...

The device (the car bluetooth system) shows at the Smart Connect with Throw as Functions, and Walkman as Applications, but I can't modify anything.
With 4.1.2, the phone asks for permission to share the phonebook, with 4.3 it pairs fine, but never asks for permission, and the list of contacts doesn't get shared...
All my contacts ara from my Gmail account.
Anyone else?
Kind regards.

What kind of car and system do you have? I have 2012 Fusion and Ford SYNC, and my Xperia T would not work at all with SYNC when it was running ICS. I'm on 4.1.2 now, and I won't go to 4.3 if this is a real issue. Would be great to hear from anyone else on 4.3 (and esp. with an Xperia T) to see if they are or aren't having this issue?
Thanks!
Samster
Try to copy the Gmail contacts. To local contacts on the phone. So mabey the car will see them this way.

I don't like this option, it kills the functionality of sharing contacts between devices. But I will give it a try.
Yesterday I received a call, and I wan't able to answer from the car buttons. I had to use the phone to accept the call, I talked through the car's bluetooth, but after that, the car's system got locked...
I've found people with the same problem on Xperia Z 4.2.2

My wife has a Focus'13, but I've not yet tested with it. She also has an Xperia T, but she refuses to upgrade.

Please, can anyone confirm that bluetooth is working with the handsfree of the car?
On my Fiat Punto EVO from 2010 works well without any issue. The car Bluetooth system is Blue&Me (1st generation).

Xperia V with stock 4.3, coming from stock 4.1.2 (rooted) .
Update kept all my Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings.
Actually, only camera storing on local files instead of SD card and LTE as default were the only settings lost during upgrade.
As a result, my phone works well with the car's bluetooth system (contacts sharing, call handling, ...).
I didn't had to pair it again, and I won't do it, just to be on the safe side

Update kept your settings? For me, I've to configure everything. How do you update keeping settings?
I've reverted to 4.1.2, and now it works again.
Kind regards.

Yes, if you update a stock ROM with Sony PC Companion it will preserve the settings.
Happened to me (coming from 4.1.2 with .145 firmware) and to my wife (coming from 4.1.2 with .140 firmware).

Hello there,
Just to let you know that my Xperia Z 4.3 stopped sharing the phonebook with the car's bluetooth system too (Insignia Navi900).
I can answer the phone and the handsfree simple mode works but there is no sharing of the contacts.
I am baffled too - will try to play a bit with the "smart connect" which automatically assigned "Walkman" to the car's handsfree functionality. To change this I need to be in the car and connected to the HF set.
Will let you know of the results.

UPDATE: I went ahead and installed 4.3, just because I was curious, and I haven't had any problems with Ford SYNC and my Xperia T at all. The only thing that was noticeable was that the first 2 or 3 times I got in the car after I paired, it would pop up a permissions box on the phone for the phonebook, or a permissions box for text messages, which I clicked "OK" and checked "ALWAYS ALLOW", and I haven't had any issues since. I even still have the MOBILE APPS functions working, so I can stream directly from Iheartradio and Pandora as well. Here's my phone specs:
Xperia T LT30p (originally stock AT&T LT30a)
Was: Android version : 4.1.2 / kernel version : 3.4.0-g5b052b2-00814-g976ab37 / Build number : 9.1.A.1.141 / Locked BL / rooted
Flashed: FW release : 9.2.A.0.295. Customization : Customized CE1 / Locked BL / (excluded baseband) / NOT ROOTED
Used Flashtool Version 0.9.14.0
oh, and I do have SmartConnectapp, but no events associated with pairing the car. Not using SmartConnect at all for anything with the car.
I do use it for other things associated with times - so I do have it turn off bluetooth at a certain time, and that does work and disconnect if I'm in the car.
and the car specs:
2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid
SYNC Gen1 - V4.0.2
with the radio that does NOT have the touchscreen - not sure which package it is.
Hope that helps anyone with problems.
Thanks,
Samster

UPDATE: My system is still asking for permissions to read text messages everytime I enter and start the car, even with "always allow" checked, and I check "always allow" everytime. No problems with the phonebook, just the read text messages permissions. Eventually, the permission request on the phone disappears, not sure if its granting permissions on its own or not; havent probed further.

OK guys... I'm going back to 4.1 / 9.1.a.0.489. For the following reasons...
1. Its never keeping "always allow" when it reconnects to my car - for permission to read text messages. Everything worked flawlessly with my car on 4.1
2. There's no way to root with a locked bootloader (yet) without installing a recovery
3. It irritates me that when I want to list apps in "most used" order, I'm limited to only 20 app icons. Have to undo it if I want to see more.
Sorry to keep bumping this thread to the top, but this is the last bump I promise.

Confirm on Chevy with CD600 too. The reason seems to be the switch from BlueZ Bletooth Stack to Bluedroid Bluetooth Stack.
The porting of the features seems to be not that easy.
Cheers
A week ago I updated my Xperia Z (6603) to lollipop from android 4.2.2. After this update every seemed to work well except for the speaker that all of a sudden didn't work anymore. At first I feared a hardware fault but then i noticed a notification from Smart Connect saying that the headphones where connected except they weren't. This explained a lot since the phone was indeed acting as is there were headphones connected. After this discovery I tried a lot of solutions I found on the internet.
I tried to plug in and plug out my headphones.
I rebooted the device.
I downloaded the app Sound About, it worked but it would mean that I will forever need to change the setting in the app if I wanted to listen to music on my headphones or over the speakers.
I fiddled in the headphone jack with a toothpick (??)
I reflashed the Lollipop firmware and tried different regions.
After that I tried reflashing every Sony Firmware that I found on the internet. I found out that when I reflashed to the first Android 4.1 Firmware that my speakers started working again. Giving me hope that this was indeed a Software problem and not a Hardware failure (since my warranty has ran out this March). After that I flashed Android 4.2.2 and everything was still all right. But then when I flashed to android 4.3 and it resulted in my original problem. And the same with Android 4.4.4 and ofcourse 5.0.
After I week I'm getting quite desperate since I now need to carry my headphones around for if someone calls me. Another problem is that I can't downgrade to 4.2.2 since last week I also bought an Android Wear device and I need at least 4.3 to be able to use it. So I was hoping that maybe some of you guys know if this is a commonly known problem. So if you are familiar with this problem and are able to help please post your solution below. I'd be extremely greatfull!
edit: To be more precise, it all goes goes wrong with Firmware 10.4.1.B.0.101.
I have updated my firmware to 5.0.2 about 5 days ago. It all goes fine until now, not experiencing any of your problem eventhough with KitKat Firmware 10.5.1.A.0.230 or Jellybean 10.4.1.B.0.101.
FYI because I've unlocked my bootloader and can't received OTA or PC companion update, so I download and flash the FTF using Sony Flash Tools.
Have you tried C6603_10.6.1.A.0.454_HK.ftf version? It works just fine for me.
And let me know whether your bootloader unlocked or locked.
==================================================================
Device = Xperia Z C6602
Firmware = Lolipop 10.6.A.0.454
Bootloader = Unlocked
Rooted = Yes
Thanks for the reply, I did try that firmware but sadly it didn't work for me. And my bootloader is still locked. Does that matter? It also tried updating OTA or Sony's PC Companion but both with similar results.

Since your bootloader still locked, unlocking it will lost your TA partition (can't use bravia engine on album). I've lost it because I don't backup the TA. So, if you plan for unlocking it, be sure backup your TA.
Don't know what to say, because Mine work just fine. But I believe that was Software fault because you've said that just fine on earlier Firmware and THE MOST IMPORTANT it's work with Sound About. Glad you still can use your Speaker although kinda annoying for keep changing the setting to swap between speaker and headset. I'll try to work around to find any way out for your problem.

A headset contains microphone but a headphone doesnt.
just insert the headset but dont pust it hard leave a little space. If you see headphone icon and not headset icon play any music. When music is currently playing and you hear sound on the headset just push the jack hard to lock. The headphone icon must still be a headphone icon. If it change to headset(thats the icon with microphone) icon repeat the process....if you insert jack on phone directly and push hard to lock , you will see a headset icon, in this setting you can never hear music.
this is a mystery bug in xperia z NEVER been fixed. i also have this problem yet i gave up already .. im running custom rom Lineage OS 14.1 nighties still have this issue.
There is no solution am afraid its been 2 years am facing this problem and use sound about to change to speaker or headphone
my friend had this problem before but he fixed it by changing that thing where you plug the headphones .
Hello everyone.
I have the sony XZ1 Compact with Android 9 and I'm not available to connect it to my car with android auto.
Apparently, no one can with this configuration. Is it right? Is a way to do fix it? New Rom, Downgrade, ...
Thanks for your answer.

P.s. I tried a few cable, it's a phone issue.
It has worked for me the past 6 months. I am on Android 9, Android Auto 4.2.591434-release with XZ1 compact. Does it work with other phones on your car?
Hi,
On Oreo i had problems with low in-call volume, but on Pie everything works fine without any issues.
Pie 47.2.A.10.45, AA 4.1.590944, XAV-AX100 unit
Hello,
I also have an issue with Sony Xperia XZ1 - Android 9, Android Auto 4.6.593324 - I can't connect it to my car - Kia Niro.
I have tried also with my phone to another car, it also doesn't work.
I've tried with another phone Samsung Galaxy S8 and works perfectly with the same cable. It seems that the issue is with my phone.
Is there a solution for this? Did someone succeed with a Sony XZ1?
Thanks in advance.
It works for me. Android 9, build 47.2.A.11.228 with Android Auto 4.7.593824-release
