Can't write anywhere instead of using keyboard ? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wish I could write anywhere with the S-Pen and have it transcribed to text.
I tried it here on Chrome on my Note 5 right now. Pulled the S-Pen out, went to handwrite in this reply box, but nothing happens.
I then opened Google Messenger, tried writing and a little Blue circle with a T popped up, and yes, I could handwrite a message, and then it transcribed it, and I sent it. Sweet that's exactly what I wanted, and thought I could do that in web browsers too ? Or e-mails ?
So can only certain apps allow you to handwrite instead of typing ? I thought with a Note phone, anywhere that could use the keyboard, that you'd also have the option to use the S-Pen and could handwrite if wanted ?
I do have Direct pen input on in the S Pen settings.

[Q] Can I display text messages on home/lock screen

Hello,
I have the ATT Galaxy Note and use it as my pager via text messaging. I would like to have text messages, with phone numbers, appear and stay on the lock/home screen when they come in until I look at them or reply to them. Is this possible to do with the Note? I don't want to have to unlock the phone and drill down into the apps every time I get a text to be able to respond to it. I was able to do this with my iPhone.
Thank you.
On my non-password lock screen I get a missed call & new SMS notice circle. holding and dragging that opens the relevant app. I cannot recall if I get this when I have a password set. I use Llama to set / unset the password depending on location so I don't need to unlock while at home or at work.
I also use SMS Pro from the Go Launcher Pro suite (although I do not use the launcher). It pops up a window with my latest SMS and lets me answer, delete, open or just close it.
I use the stock widget showing me emails. I cannot set that to unread ones only, and the colour difference of unread emails is not enough, but it's kind of OK.
That gives me all I need.
This forum is for the international galaxy note not the i717.

apps like handcent sms, pansi sms (not a bad app, was testing it today) or go sms allows you to achieve what you wish to do.
if you're talking about the full monty, including emails, etc, you could try Executive Assistant. This has more powerful features including lock screen information. be warned however if you use a passcode lock this will not work

Keyboard App

Does anyone have any recommendations on any keyboard apps? I want to be able to respond to text messages via the watch using a keyboard.
Also, what text message app do you use?
I use "Coffee" - works very well. Only keyboard I've seen is on Wear Mail and it's just too cumbersome for more than a couple words. I haven't seen a text messaging app with a keyboard but I'm sure they exist.

Love the app...best normal keyboard on an Android Wear messaging app so far. It just works.
2 questions....I also use Wear Mini Launcher and even with your app excluded in Wear Mini Launcher I cant use all the keyboard when I enter your app through a notification (the whole keyboard IS useable if I open the app normally). I realise this is a Mini Launcher thing, but just thought I would mention it.
And...I must have a way to change the vibration on a notification. Long isnt long enough. Other apps allow custom vibrate patterns. That would help on watches where the vibration is weaker, like mine.
Hi ruggs1234,
Thank you very much for reporting the issues. We will look into the problem that happens when Mini Launcher is used and will try to fix it.
Regarding the vibration, we will add more options.
Thank you very much for using Drextee!

Messaging popout

This has happened to me a couple of times and I really wish I knew how I did it. I am using the Samsung messaging app. Often I will reply to messages from the notification bar. Every now and then when I go to swipe down on the message notification so I can reply the messaging app will pop up on the screen in a small box. It is not the same as 1 handed mode. I would prefer answering texts this way but I don't know how I do it. Had this happened to anybody else? If so, do you know how to get it to work Everytime?

Dex Mode texting with keyboard, Chrome dimming issue, and App suggestions?

Been using Dex mode the last couple days and there is a couple things I find really annoying. One is when I'm texting, hitting enter doesn't send a text message, it just acts as the return key in samsung messages and the default android messages app. I can change my messaging app to the facebook messenger which hitting enter does work but it is kind of terrible looking in dex mode and I'm not a fan of involving facebook in my messages if I don't have to. and Two, for whatever reason my chrome window will dim and will not brighten back up, I can have it up and get a text message that pulls up and after I reply and close the messaging app chrome is noticeably dimmed, the samsung internet browser doesn't do this but I prefer chrome since all my stuff is saved and tied to it.
Does anyone know how to make my physical keyboard send messages with the enter key in the default Samsung messages app? I can't find anywhere to map keys and it gets old having to click a send button all the time.
Does anyone else's chrome dim when switching between apps in dex but never brighten back to normal? Been using the samsung browser but it isn't my favorite.
Does anyone have any good app options to use in dex? Video/Audio/Photo editors, media players, Spreadsheet/Docs/Presentation software, and anything else you can think of that might be useful.
Currently using sheets/docs from google, vlc media player, and the photoshop collage maker app for pictures.
Basically I can get by my daily work routines with a decent app to perform these few functions. (video editing/photo editing, spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and a good media player that can use subtitles.) And if I can accomplish this in dex I could solve a lot of problems without having to go run around and retrieve my laptop or be forced to carry it with me 100% of the time.
I'm having the same issue, but can't pin down what the issue is. I think I have found that opening a new tab fixes it for a time...
