By working on my NightOwl Lollipop Rom for the GT-N7000 I found many Bugs which also exists in the official CM11 nightly's.
Because of many users want to stay on KitKat I have made a final CM11 version with many Bugfixes
Code:
Use my Roms only if you are sure about the risks of flashing custom Roms/Kernel to your device. I'm is not responsible for any damage caused by using one of my files.
Changes/Fixes to official CM11:
20151004:
This version fixes the not working Wifi Hotspot in the 20150909 version
-Fixed a wifi tethering configuration problem
-Updated Wifi drivers
-A few smaller kernel updates
20150909:
Based on the latest cm11 sources with the stagefright patch
Use my kernel based on the stock samsung JB source with many updates (because the smdk4412 seems to be the reason for the random freezes and reboots)
The kernel is built with GCC 4.4.3 for stability reasons
Added extra free kbytes to reduce direct reclaim
Added trim support
Fixed a bug that the cpu would never go below 500Mhz after recording a (HD) video which caused heating and battery drain
Fixed a bug which causes that the thermal management could fail in some conditions (This can cause device heating and can damage the device in the worst case)
Fixed some videos will only play audio
Fixed the permission problems if the sdcard is ext4 formated (but you should use vfat!)
Updated power_profiles
Fine tuned lmk values
Fine tuned dalvik settings
Enabled multithreaded dexopt
Use ROW as default I/O scheduler
Removed cm updater
Do not mount the unsused preload partition
Switched to Philz recovery which can handle cwm and twrp backups
NightOwl bootanimation
How to Install:
If you are running a custom Kitkat 4.4 Rom:
1. Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery
3. Factory Reset + Format the /system partition
4. Flash the Rom and Gapps.
5. Reboot
The steps to install it from an stock samsung rom are:
If you have already an samsung 4.1.x running you can skip step 1
1.flash N7000ZSLR1_N7000OZSLR1_BRI (or any other other 4.1.2) stock rom using odin
2.Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (http://d-h.st/OTu) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin (To download click the blue Download now button)
4. boot into recovery
5. flash this kernel https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526788121 to get an updated cwm recovery
(this step will make your old rom unbootable stuck in the n7000 screen but you can boot into recovery with press and hold "home" and "volume+" buttons and power on your phone)
6. you need to reboot! your device now to recovery
7. you are now in the updated recovery and you can now install the rom and gapps and do a factory reset
8. Reboot

The kernel supports zRam but it is not enabled in the rom.
If you want to enable it you need to do it yourself.
I don't know if the kernel will work on omni 4.4.4. If you want to try it you should backup the rom in the recovery
Woow, that's great!! I will try next week after i do an exam.
Thanks for your work @bauner.
And which step that i should use for installation if I'm using lollipop rom ?

Thanks bauner for supporting this now legendary Note .. downloading now ...
This will be my new daily driver! It is fast, stable, smooth and has a great battery backup like TW based roms have. Didn't find any bugs. Thanks, i love it!
Like @j4m said this rom has great batter backup for more than one hour screen off time with wifi on battery hasn't gone even 1% down and that's awesome. @bauner do you think you can implement battery saving mode on this rom ?
Can i pulled down the status bar in fullscreen apps in this rom ?

I will not add more features to this rom. It is a stock cm11 rom with many fixes for the n7000 but without new functions.
But you can enable the battery saving mode in settings-battery

There is no battery saving mode on Settings - Battery or I'm not capable of finding it ?
Anyway since all you were going to do was fix those bugs from your nightowl cm12 rom well you've successfully done that and I cannot thank you enough for this Btw this rom has a better screen off time than cm12 do you know how this is possible ?

Kitkat is a bit more battery friendly...
I'm currently have running lollipop running again on my device... But I mean that there is a battery saving toggle in the battery settings in cm11 but it will be only availible if the device is not connected to the charger or usb
The best rom for n7000 I ever use. Very fast and I dirty install it over cm11. Battery life I will see in next hours/days.

It depends on the used app.. But in real fullscreen apps (if you can't see the status bar) normally not
@bauner this is what I'm talking about, there is no battery saving mode on Settings - Battery at least there wasn't on offical cm11 and ofc nor in this one and that's why I asked if you can do sth about it

You are right it is not present. I meaned that I have seen it in cm11 but maybe it was another kitkat rom.
I will not add new features to this rom. I will only provide one real stable stock like cm11 for the n7000 (Maybe another one too if I find more bugs in lollipop development which exists in cm11 too)

That is a very good idea. Everyone can install apps for example DU Battery Saver or other.
This rom -so as it is- now my best for n7000.
You can use this Xposed module , it has that low battery function. The Stamina mode is good too, those who have owned an Xperia will know.

can be considered "Stable" a rom with a high battery drain? (leaving aside the merits and the great work that is behind, because it's a great work and TheWhisp is the best XD)
anyway... when we can see the 2 version with and without the camera? *_*

I don't have any problems of battery drain. The rom is very stable and fast. Try a clean install.
TheWhips, Great Job, thanks - with this build at least work Walkman app
But I have small problem with CPU settings - my phone reboots after screen will off, when I set max freq more than 1008 MHz.
It's strange, because phone works fine (even with freq=1152 MHz), reboots comes only if screen will off...
Please help with that ...
PS with build 1807 everything works fine with 1152 MHz

Edit: I varied the governor's but no result.

No random reboots either, suspect a restored app messing it. I'd do a full wipe, dalvik and cache, and format internal drive. Save everything to external. Don't restore apps data with TB, test rim 1st. Smooth as silk here.

Great to see a new kernel for AOSP.
Wait for a long time.
Edit: not suitable for slimKAT 5.9 build. The device didn't boot and stick at the slim logo.
I know you've said it'll probably only work on AOSP ROMs.
But curiosity got the best of me and I tried it on PAC ROM, I'm guessing there'll be a lot more like me who would want to try this on various ROMs so i'll just keep adding the ROMs I've tried the kernel on and whether it booted or not.
PAC ROM (21-06 nightly) - Stuck at boot animation.
AOKP- Won't boot
Beanstalk- same as above
PS: I do not expect you to debug these or even reply to this.
Thanks for the kernel. :good:
It works only on @pabx 4.4.4 AOSP builds, sorry.
I can't and won't add support for other roms, because then it becomes a mess again..

Then reboot once and flash kernel.
Using it on @pabx AOSP.
Working very well, super smooth and great battery life.
One request, could you also try your hand at making a CM based kernel, we desperately need a battery friendly kernel for XZ.
Thanks a lot.

I could, yeah.
But:
-Stock CM is sluggish and i don't feel like building a kernel for it
-Thomas' CM is nice, already has a custom kernel included.
Also my time is limited atm, you can contact other devs of f.e. slimkat to adopt some of my changes, which i'll doubt will happen
Had a play with this one.
Not bad at all maybe pull in voltage adjustments?
I tend to cook my own from pabx with much lower voltages.
But this one is pretty decent

I'm quite unsure if i should lower some voltages.
It may introduce some problems for the unlucky ones having a lower binned chipset, plus makes games laggy.
Probably i'll add the (awesome) voltage control by morfic, as this kernel is intended to be in-line with Trinity.

BTW don''t like to bug you but what's the status of the MIUI patch rom ??
Regards.
Is this using the internal memory for /data or an SD partition? Would be nice if you could mod it to use the SD card, my arc runs best with CM11 but the tiny internal partition is killing me.

the fix on my web site is new and you have to flash it only after the first boot (bootanimation for 5 minutes and then flash the fix)

OmniROM - Lollipop Android 5.1.1 - for Samsung Vibrantmtd
What is Omnirom?
A new Android custom rom has been announced at the BABBQ (Big Android BBQ) by @XpLoDWilD, @Chainfire, @Dees_Troy & Team. For more information go to omnirom's website
Code:
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
* If you dont like this rom, Stay away from this thread!
This Rom is build with Omnirom source without changes except:
- The bigmem switch included in setting, advanced, big thanks to @xc-racer99
- The kernel, big thanks to @me
This Rom is compiled with SaberMod http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/toolchains-sabermod-arm-arm64-t3064459
And the kernel with Cortex-A8 optimized Linaro 4.9.4 toolchain http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098133
WHAT IS NOT WORKING?
same bug as Unofficial build from Humberos.
How To Flash:
Download the Rom for your device and copy to your phone
Reboot into Recovery
Wipe Data Factory Reset
flash Rom
flash 5.1.x GApps
Special Thanks :
the omnirom team.
@humberos, without him this rom wouldn't be possible.
@Christopher83 for is toolchain.
@sparksco for is toolchain.
@xc-racer99 for his contribution.

What is different about this build from other Omnirom 5.1 vibrant builds?

Thanks for the awesome work and building omni rom for vibrant. The rom itself is fast and smooth while having no bugs. The one thing which makes this rom different from the omni rom is the new kernel coldwindofnowhere added which contain many new features such as governors like smartass v2, battery life extender, fast charge, big memory support and toggle in advanced menu. Also this was possibly compiled with the newest source code. This rom is very well worth a try because its a master piece and your kernel is like icing on the cake. Thanks for your support an keep up the good work:good::good:
I'm trying to come from Slimkat but I get a status 7 installation aborted error message when trying to flash. Any advice?

Try both TWRP or CWM because i had no problem. However, i was already in android lollipop while flashing this rom so just try flashing a lollipop rom which works on your device such as code rom to get to the latest TWRP then try

If you get status 7 error, dont worry flash again if its still there navigate to reboot to recovery and flash rom.zip again. Done
Thanks for the advice guys. Rebooting recovery and flashing again still didn't work. I used cm11 kernel to go back to a slightly older version of CWM and it worked but after i booted up I was getting reboots constantly. It took me several tries just to get through the setup wizard. The reboot problem started getting better over time but it was still going on so I clocked the kernel back down to 1000Mhz and haven't had any more reboots yet but the phone has a little lag now. It was super smooth at 1400Mhz. It's still an awesome rom. This is my first time trying a Lollipop rom and so far it is my favorite rom of all time for this device. Thanks for the build OP.
The only real issue I'm having right now is I can't download anything. The wifi and network data work fine but when I try to download an app from the play store it starts but then I get an error message (can't download app error code:491). I thought I would try another gapps from the browser but when I try to download the zip it starts to download but stays at zero percent.
Any advice for me on the downloads problem? Or how I can overclock without getting the reboots?

You can try this gapps https://mega.nz/#F!G0QXXRAC!pZ063qCaa5lxdD73SarU6Q
I don't think Gapps is the problem for me. I wiped and reflashed the rom this time with no gapps and the downloads from the browser still don't work. I tried to download things from several different sources and everything stays at zero percent.
Another thing I am trying to get working is swype on the keyboard. Is that something that does not work on vibrant lollipop roms or is it working for everyone else.

No it's a bug present on all LP roms i know, you can still you an alternative keyboard to get around this issue
Ok, thanks. I got the google keyboard off play store. It's the same keyboard and it functions just fine. I fixed the download problem by flashing a different omni lollipop rom, testing to make sure download was working then doing a dirty flash back to this rom. Works great and I think I found a new daily driver. Thanks Coldwindofnowhere.
Edit: One other thing I forgot to mention, I can't get TWRP to flash anything. It always fails. For some reason I can only get it to flash a kernel so I have to flash my CM11 kernel and reboot recovery to get into CWM then reflash the rom and gapps. This problem was present when I flashed the other version of Omni Lollipop also. Not a huge problem for me. I will just keep my CM11 kernel in the downloads folder and use that any time I need to flash something.

Um i don't have this issue on my Galaxy , maybe it's Vibrant related ... honestly i don't know. Can you give a screenshot or just tell me what error it shows when you flash something ?
New build coming soon, it will be up in a few hours. It includes the latest omni source, my latest kernel (@rosco77 i'm pretty sure your TWRP issue will be gone) and a new toolchain. I will update the link in the OP.
Links in the OP updated !

Well you can just extract the boot.img from the rom and flash it ...
Hi there.
I been spending several hours reading user's opinions about several roms for the xsp.
I saw plenty of unofficial roms based on cyanogenmod official roms. And the question that pops into my mind it's.
Why so many mods? People doesn't like the official releases?
Also I been reading that 5.1 roms are laggy, and in a custom rom i'm looking for stability and performance.
Maybe I should go for and official cyanogenmod 11 rom?
Maybe for a stock based rom?
What do you think?
Hello.
Yes, there is a lot of rom for SP. But just a few work as it supposed to.
Lollipop it is in his nightly stage, though is very stable and the most recent apps, you will be able to use.
There is too a recent patch for security, we should take in consideration, Im using myself as a daily driver without problems, nevertheless still have some minor bugs, but nothing that cant make you wish to throw your SP on wall
If you want to test and see how looks like, I would recommend Sabermod Unofficial Or CM 12.1 Official Nightly
cm12.1+ addons imo cuz it's my second full month on it and it never failed me ....no problems for me and great performance

battery is good too yep
Go for CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies with addons...Its Best for lollipop based ROMs.
You can try unofficial CM13 also if you can use the phone without camera. Battery life and performance of CM13 is far better than cm 12.1.
To be honest, is a matter of usage and preference. For me it was working fine but my phone got way too hot for my taste, but the deal breaker was that no matter what lolipop ROM I used facebook HD playback was choppy as hell. I know that it sounds silly but that's something that I need. None of these issues exist on stock, of course (C5306 - 1.205)
I think the Sabermod unofficial takes the lead on cm12.1 ... Great battery and butter smooth. I think it' s the for performance and battery !
I use official CM11 slimmed by me, without gapps, disabled LogCat, little modified build.prop + WilliamsPLUS and I'm really happy ; p
which 5.1 rom has fewer lag and more batterylife?
@beodo
A sea of roms but many of them are discontinued or not updated, so first check that one.
As fellow members said CyanogenMod 12.1 Unofficial SaberMod with add ons is the best right now for me as well, very fast, really fluid, stable and good battery life, in is some parts is even better than the latest official stock rom.
I m using this rom for over a month and i love it.
If you need even better battery life you could use Helium kernel (just dirty flash at recovery) and enable conservative governor, if you would like to take it further you can also install xposed framework which unlocks you much more features like power saving better experience, extra customization and more.
All of the above are continuously updated and supported by our great developers too :good:

The above answers you question as well
Thinking about trying this one.

Is this one stable for daily use?
Also, do I have to download Latest Xperia Apps Installer.zip if I am using latest ultimate zip?
Please reply.
